A meeting by two Government Ministers with the residents of East Port.

Cruinniú ag beirt Airí Rialtais le háitritheoirí an Phoirt Thoir.

Two Government Ministers – Paschal Donohoe and Roderic O’Gorman – had a meeting with the residents of Port East in the north of Dublin to discuss the dispute about providing accommodation for refugees in the area.

Bhí cruinniú ag beirt Airí Rialtais – Paschal Donohoe agus Roderic O’Gorman – le háitritheoirí an Phoirt Thoir i dtuaisceart Bhaile Átha Cliath leis an gconspóid faoi chóiríocht a chur ar fáil do dhídeanaithe sa cheantar a phlé.

The refugees are taking up residence in the old Electricity Supply Board building on East Port Road.

Tá na dídeanaithe ag cur fúthu i seanfhoirgneamh Bhord Soláthair an Leictreachais ar Bhóthar an Phoirt Thoir.

There have been several demonstrations outside the building for a week.

Bhí roinnt léiristhe taobh amuigh den fhoirgneamh le seachtain.

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe indicated that the residents raised important and sensitive questions in the meeting.

Thug an tAire Airgeadais Paschal Donohoe le fios gur thóg na háitritheoirí ceisteanna tábhachtacha agus cigilteacha sa chruinniú.

He said they expressed their concerns openly and tactfully and he promised them he would do his best to address the issue.

Dúirt sé gur chuir siad an imní a bhí orthu in iúl go hoscailte agus go stuama agus gur gheall sé dóibh go ndéanfadh sé a dhícheall dul i ngleic leis an gceist.

The spokesman for the Minister for Integration Roderic O’Gorman said that he gave an account to the residents in the meeting on the Government’s policy to make use of old buildings to provide accommodation for refugees.

Dúirt urlabhraí an Aire Lánpháirtíochta Roderic O’Gorman gur thug seisean cuntas do na háitritheoirí sa chruinniú ar pholasaí an Rialtais leas a bhaint as seanfhoirgnimh le cóiríocht a chur ar fáil do dhídeanaithe.

He also informed them, it was said, of the supports that are being offered to the community of the area (to handle the change among them).

Thug sé eolas dóibh freisin, a dúradh, ar na tacaíochtaí atá á dtairiscint do phobal an cheantair (chun an t-athrú ina measc a láimhseáil).

Earlier today, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said Gardaí were monitoring what people were posting online in relation to the controversy.

Níos túisce inniu, dúirt Coimisinéir an Gharda Síochána Drew Harris go raibh na Gardaí ag coinneáil súil ar a bhfuil á fhoilsiú ar líne ag daoine maidir leis an gconspóid.
