Many students still left without a place on a school bus.

Daltaí go leor fágtha fós gan áit ar bhus scoile.

Hundreds of thousands of school pupils are returning to classrooms across the country this week but there are still many who are waiting patiently for a school bus.

Tá na céadta míle dalta scoile ag filleadh ar sheomraí ranga ar fud na tíre an tseachtain seo ach tá scata fós ag feitheamh ar shuíochan ar bhus scoile.

Many families have been denied seats due to huge demand this year since the Government decided not to charge parents due to the crisis in the cost of living.

Tá suíocháin diúltaithe do mhórchuid teaghlach i bhfianaise éileamh ollmhór i mbliana ó rinne an Rialtas cinneadh gan táille a ghearradh ar thuismitheoirí mar gheall ar an ngéarchéim sa gcostas maireachtála.

In a statement today, Bus Éireann said that applications are still being processed and that more tickets will be made available as soon as they have found additional buses and drivers.

I ráiteas inniu dúirt Bus Éireann go bhfuil iarratais fós á bpróiseáil agus go gcuirfear tuilleadh ticéad ar fáil chomh luath is a bheidh busanna agus tiománaithe breise aimsithe acu.

This morning Lucy McDonagh from Muine Mea in Galway and her three children, Nathan, Isabella and Rebecca were preparing for their first day back at school.

Ar maidin bhí Lucy McDonagh as Muine Mheá i nGaillimh agus a triúr leanaí, Nathan, Isabella agus Rebecca ag prapáil dá gcéad lá ar ais ar scoil.

Lucy and the children are one of 6 families in the area who have failed to get a ticket for the school bus, the first time ever.

Tá Lucy agus na leanaí ar cheann de 6 theaghlach sa dúthaigh a bhfuil teipthe orthu ticéad a fháil don bhus scoile, an chéad uair riamh.

Lucy’s neighbor, Ellen Walsh and her two children Noah and Beth have been left without a ticket and without a way to school as well.

Tá comharsan le Lucy, Ellen Walsh agus a beirt leanaí Noah agus Beth fágtha gan ticéad agus gan slí chun na scoile chomh maith.

A total of twelve children from Muine Mea are without a ticket for the bus since they were all refused in the past month.

Dáreag leanbh ar fad as Muine Mheá atá gan ticéad don bhus ó diúltaíodh dóibh go léir le mí anuas.

It is a national problem, and the Government must act, says Sinn Féin.

Fadhb go náisiúnta é, agus ní mór don Rialtas gníomhú, a deir Sinn Féin.

In a statement, Bus Éireann, which is running the scheme on behalf of the Department of Education, says that the high number of applications they received this year has created difficulties and that there is a delay in issuing tickets as a result.

I ráiteas deir Bus Éireann, atá i mbun na scéime thar ceann na Roinne Oideachais, go bhfuil deacrachtaí cruthaithe ag an líon ard iarratas a fuair siad i mbliana agus go bhfuil moill ann ticéid a éisiúint dá bharr.

They say applications are still being processed and more tickets will be made available as soon as they have found more buses and drivers to accommodate the high numbers this year.

Deir siad go bhfuil iarratais fós á bproiseáil agus go gcuirfear tuilleadh ticéad ar fáil chomh luath is a bheidh busanna agus tiománaithe sa mbreis aimsithe acu le freastal ar an líon ard i mbliana.
