The campaign group An Dream Dearg has informed Nuacht TG4 that they will be organizing a Red Day in Belfast in May demanding legislation for the Irish language in Northern Ireland.
Tá an grúpa feachtais An Dream Dearg tar éis a thabhairt le fios do Nuacht TG4 go mbeidh siad ag eagrú Lá Dearg i mBéal Feirste mí na Bealtaine ag éileamh reachtaíocht don Ghaeilge i dTuaisceart Éireann.
A date was chosen immediately after the Stormont Election in the hope of influencing the talks that will follow the election to form a Government.

The Stormont Assembly election will take place on Thursday, May 5th.

Earlier in the week, the Irish News newspaper published an open letter to the Irish Government, the British Government and all political parties in the North demanding immediate legislation for the Irish language in the North.

The letter stated that no government, Minister or political party can marginalize our community and that the days are over when Irish speakers will be treated as second – class citizens.

When Red Day finally took place, 5 years ago, over 10,000 took part and it is hoped that more will attend, on Saturday 21st May 2022.
