Additional restrictions to be discussed by Government tomorrow.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said the Government will meet tomorrow on the recent rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country and the number of people being hospitalized with the disease.

Stephen Donnelly indicated that the Government may introduce additional restrictions to cope with this increase.

Speaking on RTÉ, the Minister said that the Government will look into all aspects of the situation and discuss the latest advice from the National Public Health Emergency Team on restrictions.

He said that the Emergency Team is proposing Level 5 restrictions, as before.

The Government will look at further restrictions on retail outlets, fitness and recreation centers and home visiting, he said.

Minister Donnelly also pointed out that 234 people were hospitalized with Covid-19 weeks ago but today 409 people are in hospitals – a 75% increase.
