Emergency Team comments on even stricter restrictions.
Trácht ag Foireann Éigeandála ar shrianta níos doichte fós.
The National Public Health Emergency Team has indicated that the additional Covid-19 restrictions announced by the Government yesterday may not be sufficient to combat the disease and that further restrictions may still need to be introduced.
Tá sé tugtha le fios ag an bhFoireann Náisiúnta Éigeandála Sláinte Poiblí go mbfhéidir nár leor na srianta breise covid 19 a dfhógair an Rialtas inné leis an ngalar a chloí agus go mbfhéidir go gcaithfí tuilleadh srianta fós a thabhairt isteach.
In a letter he sent yesterday to Health Minister Stephen Donnelly, Emergency Team chairman Dr Tony Holohan said strict social restrictions should be put in place for the next six weeks.
I litir a chuir sé inné chuig an Aire Sláinte Stephen Donnelly, dúirt cathaoirleach na Foirne Éigeandála an Dr Tony Holohan gur chóir srianta dochta sóisialta a chur i bhfeidhm as seo go ceann sé seachtaine.
He also said in the letter that the Emergency Team looked at the issue of the schools and were of the opinion that they should be reopened next Wednesday 6 January as planned.
Dúirt sé sa litir freisin gur bhreathnaigh an Fhoireann Éigeandála ar cheist na scoileanna agus go raibh siad den bharúil gur chóir iad a oscailt arís Dé Céadaoin seo chugainn 6 Eanáir mar a bhí beartaithe.
However, he said, they believed that if the spread of Covid-19 in the wider community were not addressed, the administration of schools would be disrupted in due course.
Mar sin féin, a dúirt sé, chreid siad go gcuirfí as do riar na scoileanna i gceann na haimsire mura rachfaí i ngleic le forleathadh covid 19 i measc an phobail trí chéile.
The Government announced yesterday that the country’s schools would not reopen until Monday 11 January, instead of next Wednesday as planned.
Dfhógair an Rialtas inné nach n-osclófaí scoileanna na tíre arís go dtí Dé Luain 11 Eanáir, in áit Dé Céadaoin seo chugainn mar a bhí beartaithe.
Education Minister Norma Foley said today that the Government was determined to reopen the schools a week from Monday and that the extra holidays would give people a better chance to stay away from others before they go back to school.
Dúirt an tAire Oideachais Norma Foley inniu go raibh rún daingean ag an Rialtas na scoileanna a oscailt arís seachtain ón Luan agus go dtabharfadh na laethanta saoire breise deis níos fearr do dhaoine fanacht amach ó dhaoine eile sula dtéann siad ar ais ar scoil.
