4 twins in the junior infants in one school in Connemara.

4 chúpla sna naíonáin bheaga i scoil amháin i gConamara.

Schools are gradually reopening their doors and teachers are welcoming back students into the classrooms after a very long five months at home thanks to Covid-19.

De réir a chéile tá scoileanna ag oscailt a ndoirse arís agus tá múinteoirí ag cur fáilte ar ais roimh dhaltaí sna seomraí ranga tar éis cúig mhí an-fhada ag baile de bharr covid 19.

This morning, Scoil Sailearna in Indreabhán in Connemara welcomed back almost 200 pupils, including 29 infant boys.

Ar maidin inniu, chuir Scoil Sailearna in Indreabhán i gConamara fáilte ar ais roimh bheagnach 200 dalta, 29 gasúr sna naíonáin bheaga ina measc.

Some were excited, some were anxious and a few tears were shed.

Bhí sceitimíní ar roinnt acu, imní ar chuid eile agus sileadh cúpla deor freisin.

It was an even more significant day for these little infants as four twins started in that class today.

Lá níos suntasaí fós a bhí ann do na naíonáin bheaga seo mar gur thosaigh ceithre chúpla sa rang sin inniu.

The school’s principal, Caitríona Uí Bhéarra, said that this was the first time ever that four twins were starting in the same class in the school’s history.

Dúirt príomhoide na scoile Caitríona Uí Bhéarra gurb é seo an chéad uair riamh go raibh ceithre chúpla ag tosú sa rang céanna i stair na scoile.

“It ‘s beautiful to have children back with us and, with God’ s help, things will gradually get easier.

“Tá sé go hálainn páistí a bheith ar ais linn agus, le cúnamh Dé, beidh rudaí ag fáil níos easca de réir a chéile.

The school staff have put in so much work that the school will be safe for everyone. ”

Tá an oiread oibre curtha isteach ag foireann na scoile go mbeadh an scoil sábháilte do chuile dhuine.”

It was a strange day for the parents of the infants because – due to the restrictions on Covid-19 – they had to say goodbye to the children at the school door.

Lá aisteach a bhí ann do thuismitheoirí na naíonán mar – de bharr na srianta a bhaineann le covid 19 – béigean dóibh slán a fhágáil leis na leanaí ag doras na scoile.

Aengus Ó Fátharta said he found it difficult to say goodbye to his family through the window, especially on their first day.

Dúirt Aengus Ó Fátharta go raibh sé deacair aige slán a rá slán lena chlann tríd an bhfuinneog, go háirithe ar a gcéad lá.

Tomás Ó Fátharta said that his own twins, Ruby and Holly Ní Fhátharta, were excited to go to school for the first time.

Dúirt Tomás Ó Fátharta go raibh sceitimíní ar a chúpla féin ar maidin, Ruby agus Holly Ní Fhátharta, a bheith ag dul chuig an scoil den chéad uair.

Joey Ó Fátharta and Éabha Ní Fhátharta The twins who started today are Leon Mac Oitir and Grace Nic Oitir; Somhairle and Conán Ó Tuairisg; Ruby and Holly Ní Fhátharta; and Joey Ó Fátharta and Éabha Ní Fhátharta, all five years old.

Joey Ó Fátharta agus Éabha Ní Fhátharta Is iad na cúplaí a thosaigh inniu Leon Mac Oitir agus Grace Nic Oitir; Somhairle agus Conán Ó Tuairisg; Ruby agus Holly Ní Fhátharta; agus Joey Ó Fátharta agus Éabha Ní Fhátharta, agus iad uile cúig bliana daois.
