Pádraig Nally, the farmer from County Mayo who became well known nationally thanks to the shooting and killing of another man 20 years ago, has died.

He was 81 years old and had been ill for some time.

Pádraig Nally was convicted and sentenced to 6 years in prison in 2005 for killing John ‘Frog’ Ward on his farm next to the village of Cross in south Mayo.

Nally has always said that he was trying to protect his home and that was what motivated him to shoot Ward.
