Hume peace foundation launched in Belfast.

A foundation was launched in Belfast today in honor of former SDLP leader John Hume and his wife Pat for preserving their heritage.

Seoladh fondúireacht i mBéal Feirste inniu in onóir iarcheannaire an SDLP John Hume agus a mhná céile Pat lena n-oidhreacht a chaomhnú.

John Hume was instrumental in peacebuilding in the North and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1998.

He died in August this year.

Speaking on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, the chairman of the foundation, Seán Farren, said that John Hume has always resorted to peace in resolving difficulties.

In light of this, said Seán Farren, and because of John and Pat Hume ‘s emphasis on human rights and economic development, it was decided to establish the foundation.
