Opposition seeks clear information on wearing masks.

Eolas soiléir faoi mhaisc a chaitheamh á lorg ag freasúra.

Opposition parties are seeking clarification from the Government on the announcement yesterday of the wearing of masks in indoor areas as part of efforts to control the spread of the crown virus.

Tá soiléiriú á lorg ag páirtithe an fhreasúra ar an Rialtas faoin bhfógra a rinneadh inné maidir le maisc a chaitheamh in áiteanna faoi dhíon mar chuid de na hiarrachtaí leathadh an choróinvíris a choinneáil faoi smacht.

It was announced yesterday that it will be mandatory for both customers and staff to wear masks in shops and supermarkets, and new legislation is being prepared accordingly.

Fógraíodh inné go mbeidh sé éigeantach ag custaiméirí agus ag an bhfoireann araon maisc a chaitheamh i siopaí agus in ollmhargaí, agus go bhfuil reachtaíocht nua á réiteach dá réir.

Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane welcomed the announcement but said Health Minister Stephen Donnelly must ensure that business and the public are given clear guidance.

Chuir an Teachta Dála David Cullinane ó Shinn Féin fáilte roimh an bhfógra ach dúirt sé go gcaithfidh an tAire Sláinte Stephen Donnelly a chinntiú go dtabharfar treoir shoiléir do lucht gnó agus don phobal.

Duncan Smith of the Labor Party also called on the Government to publish guidelines and provide clear and unambiguous information about wearing masks.

Diarr Duncan Smith ó Pháirtí an Lucht Oibre ar an Rialtas freisin treoirlínte a fhoilisú agus eolas glan soiléir a thabhairt faoi mhaisc a chaitheamh.

The Government also announced yesterday that pubs will not reopen until 10 August, instead of next Monday as planned.

Dfhógair an Rialtas inné chomh maith nach mbeifear ag oscailt tithe tábhairne arís go dtí 10 Lúnasa, in áit Dé Luain seo chugainn mar a bhí beartaithe.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin indicated that the decision was made in light of the increase in the number of person – to – person reproduction of the coronavirus to over 1.

Thug an Taoiseach Micheál Martin le fios go ndearnadh an cinneadh i bhfianaise uimhir atáirgthe an choróinvíris ó dhuine go duine a bheith ardaithe go dtí os cionn 1.

He accepted, he said, that the decision will go hard on pubs.

Ghlac sé leis, a dúirt sé, go rachaidh an cinneadh dian ar thábhairneoirí.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said the reproductive number is now between 1.2 and 1.8 and if pubs reopened the virus could spread further.

Dúirt an tAire Sláinte Stephen Donnelly gur idir 1.2 agus 1.8 atá an uimhir atáirgthe anois agus dá n-osclófaí tithe tábhairne arís go bhféadfadh an víreas leathadh tuilleadh.
