Ad people details
Sonraí daoine a d'fhulaing drochúsáid ghnéasach cibearghoidte.
It has emerged that digital data was cyber-stolen last month from four organizations in this State that provide support services to people who have been raped and sexually abused.
Tá sé tagtha chun solais gur cibearghoideadh sonraí digiteacha an mhí seo caite ó cheithre eagraíocht sa Stát seo a chuireann seirbhísí tacaíochta ar fáil do dhaoine a éigníodh agus a d’fhulaing drochúsáid ghnéasach.
People’s personal details and highly sensitive information are said to have been stolen.
Deirtear gur sonraí pearsanta daoine agus faisnéis an-íogair a goideadh.
The data was being held on behalf of the four organizations by a company in Derry which was cyber-hacked and ransom demanded.
Bhí na sonraí á gcoinneáil thar ceann na gceithre eagraíocht ag comhlacht i nDoire a ndearnadh cibirionsaí air agus ar éilíodh airgead fuascailte air.
It is understood that the company, Evide, has not paid any money to the cyber thieves and that no personal details have been published online so far.
Tuigtear nár íoc an comhlacht, Evide, aon airgead leis na cibear-fhoghlaithe agus nár foilsíodh aon sonraí pearsanta ar líne go dtí seo.
One in Four is one of the organizations involved.
Tá an catharnas One in Four ar cheann de na heagraíochtaí atá i gceist.
Speaking on RTÉ, One in Four chief executive Maeve Lewis said the organization had notified around 500 people that their own personal data may have been among the stolen material.
Ag labhairt di ar RTÉ, dúirt príomhfheidhmeannach One in Four Maeve Lewis go raibh curtha in iúl ag an eagraíocht do thart ar 500 duine go mb’fhéidir go raibh a gcuid sonraí pearsanta féin i measc an ábhair a goideadh.
She also said that they still don’t know exactly whose details were stolen.
Dúirt sí chomh maith nach bhfuil a fhios acu fós cé na sonraí go baileach a goideadh.
She revealed that One in Four had set up a helpline for people who are concerned about the situation.
Thug sí le fios go raibh líne chabhrach bunaithe ag One in Four do dhaoine atá buartha faoin scéal.
It is believed that the details of around 2,000 people in all – between the Republic, the North and Britain – were swiped from the Evide database.
Creidtear gur sonraí thart ar 2,000 duine ar fad – idir an Phoblacht, an Tuaisceart agus an Bhreatain – a sciobadh ó bhunachar sonraí Evide.
Police in the North are conducting a criminal investigation into the matter and the Gardaí have confirmed that they are working with them.
Tá fiosrúchán coiriúil ar bun ag na póilíní sa Tuaisceart faoin scéal agus tá sé deimhnithe ag na Gardaí go bhfuil siad ag obair i gcomhar leo.
The news has also been reported to the Data Protection Commissioner.
Tá an scéala curtha i bhfios don Choimisinéir Cosanta Sonraí freisin.
