Dúirt an t-uasal Kenny go bhfuil géarghá le foirgintí stáit le h-aghaidh tithíocht agus nár cheart don stáit a bheith á ndíol ag an am seo.

Some of the former stations are to go up for public auction this week.

Tá roinnt de na h-iar stáisiúin le dul ar cheaint poiblí an tseachtain seo.

In County Clare the former station in Leacht is for sale and the former station in Dun Beag.

I gContae an Chláír tá an t-iar staisiún sa Leacht le díol agus an t-iar staisiún sa Dún Beag.

Tá chúig sheomra codladta chomh maith le seomraí breise, leithris agus seomraí folctha i ngach ceann don dá fhoirgneamh.

“I doubt that the Department of Justice and the Office of Public Works should be selling buildings at this time of the need for housing.

“Is doigh liom nár cheart don Roinn Dlí agus Cirt ná Oifig na n-Oibreacha Poiblí a bheith ag díol foirgnimh in am seo an ghátar do thithíocht.

A few days ago the Minister for Integration demanded that Government Departments make any surplus buildings available for housing, and these should be arranged accordingly”, said Deputy Kenny.

Cúpla lá ó shin dhein an t- Aire Lánpháirtíochta éíleamh ar Ranna Rialtais aon farasbarr foirgintí a bheadh acu a chuir ar fáil do thitíocht, agus ba cheart iad seo a chóiriú dá réir”, a dúirt an Teachta Kenny.

In a statement, the Office of Public Works said that according to policy any building of theirs is assessed against state services before being sold.

I ráiteas, dúirt Oifig na nOibreacha Poiblí, de réir polasaí go ndeintear measunú ar aon fhoirgneamh dá gcuid le h-aghaidh seirbhisí stáit sular ndíoltar iad.

It was also said that the Government Departments dealing with emergency housing have been informed of any surplus buildings in the Department.

Dúradar chomh maith gur cuireadh na Ranna Rialtais atá ag plé le tithíocht éigeandála ar an eolas fé aon farrasbár foirgintí atá sa Roinn.

They say that it is up to those departments themselves to assess and decide whether the holdings are suitable for their duties.

Deir siad gur faoi na ranna sin féin atá sé measúnú agus cinneadh a dhéanamh cioca an bhfuil na sealuchais oiriúnach dá gcúramaí.

We asked the Integration Department if they had assessed the former stations and in response it was said that they were receiving a lot of questions regarding different buildings and due to lack of competence in the department they were unable to give any answers.

D’fhiafraíomar den Roinn Lánpháirtíochta an ndeineadar measunú air na h-iarstáisiúin agus i bhfreagra dúradar go raibh morán ceisteanna á bhfáil acu I leith fhoirgintí difriúla agus de bharr lancaisí inniúlachta sa roinn nach raibh siad ábalta aon fhreagra a thabhairt.
