Twitter workers in Ireland let go.

Oibrithe Twitter in Éirinn scaoilte chun bealaigh.

Twitter has let go of some of its employees in Ireland.

Tá Twitter tar éis cuid dá bhfostaithe in Éirinn a scaoileadh chun bealaigh.

An email was sent this morning to certain workers in Dublin, in which they were informed that they are facing redundancy.

Cuireadh ríomhphost ar maidin chuig oibrithe áirithe i mBaile Átha Cliath, inar cuireadh in iúl dóibh go bhfuil iomarcaíocht i ndán dóibh.

The company’s office in the capital is temporarily closed and workers are not allowed to enter it.

Tá oifig an chomhlachta sa phríomhchathair dúnta go sealadach agus níl cead ag oibrithe dul isteach inti.

Such an announcement was expected after the new owner, Elon Musk, took control of Twitter.

Bhí súil lena leithéid d’fhógra, i ndiaidh don úinéir nua, Elon Musk, smacht a ghlacadh ar Twitter.

Management had already said that workers would be informed by 09:00 today (or 16:00 Irish time) of cuts.

Bhí sé ráite chean féin ag an mbainistíocht go gcuirfí oibrithe ar an eolas faoi 09:00 inniu am Mheirceá (nó 16:00 am na hÉireann) maidir le ciorruithe.

Twitter employed approximately 500 people in Dublin.

Bhí thart ar 500 duine fostaithe ag Twitter i mBaile Átha Cliath.

“I woke up this morning to the news that I was no longer employed by the company”, wrote one former Irish employee on Twitter.

“Dhúísigh mé ar maidin don scéal nach raibh mé fostaithe sa chomhlacht níos mó”, a scríobh iarfhostaí Éireannach amháin ar Twitter.

It is understood that employees facing redundancy have been locked out of the company’s email system, and other internal systems.

Tuigtear go bhfuil fostaithe a bhfuil iomarcaíocht i ndán dóibh glasáilte amach as córas ríomhphoist an chomhlachta, agus as córais inmheánacha eile.

It is not yet clear how many workers have been let go from the Dublin office.

Ní léir go fóill cé mhéad oibrí a scaoileadh chun bealaigh ón oifig i mBaile Átha Cliath.

But Twitter is understood to be planning to cut 50% of its workforce worldwide.

Ach tuigtear go bhfuil sé i gceist ag Twitter 50 faoin gcéad dá bhfórsa oibre a chiorrú ar fud an domhain.

Tech industry experts say cuts are to be made to specific teams, rather than geographically.

Deir saineolaithe ón tionscal teicneolaíochta go bhfuil ciorruithe le déanamh ar fhoirne ar leith, seachas le bheith déanta ar bhonn tíreolaíochta.
