Prevention of petrol vehicles, diesel not to mention in climate bill.

Feithiclí peitril, díosail a chosc gan lua i mbille aeráide.

The Government ‘s Climate Action Bill promised by the Government has been published this afternoon.

Tá an Bille Gníomhaithe ar son na hAeráide a bhí geallta ag an Rialtas foilsithe tráthnóna.

This bill sets out how the country ‘s economy will be carbon neutral by 2050.

Leagtar amach sa bhille seo an bealach a mbeidh geilleagar na tíre neodrach ó thaobh carbóin de faoin mbliain 2050.

At a press conference in the Houses of Government, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said it was a groundbreaking bill and showed a commitment to reducing carbon emissions in the climate.

Ag preasócáid i dTithe an Rialtais, dúirt an Taoiseach Micheál Martin gur bille ceannródaíoch atá ann agus go léiríonn sé go bhfuiltear meáite ar an méid carbóin a sceitear san aeráid a laghdú.

However, there is nothing in the bill to ban the sale and import of petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030, although promised in the Program for Government.

Níl tada sa bhille, áfach, faoi chosc a chur ar fheithiclí peitril agus díosail a dhíol agus a iompórtáil ón mbliain 2030, cé gur gealladh a leithéid sa Chlár Rialtais.

Government looking at Covid-19 fines.

Rialtas ag breathnú ar fhíneálacha covid 19.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has confirmed that the Government is considering imposing fines on people who do not comply with Covid-19 restrictions.

Tá sé dearbhaithe ag an Taoiseach Micheál Martin go bhfuil an Rialtas ag cuimhneamh ar fhíneálacha a ghearradh ar dhaoine nach gcloíonn le srianta covid 19.

He told the Dáil that the Government’s oversight group discussed various ways in which restrictions could be imposed at a meeting they had this morning.

Dúirt sé sa Dáil gur phléigh ghrúpa maoirseachta an Rialtais bealaí éagsúla gur féidir srianta a chur i bhfeidhm ag cruinniú a bhí acu ar maidin.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar indicated last night that fines may be introduced but that the Government would rather attract people than oppress them.

Thug an Tánaiste Leo Varadkar le fios aréir go mbfhéidir go dtabharfaí isteach fíneálacha ach gurbh fhearr leis an Rialtas daoine a mhealladh in áit ansmacht a chur orthu.

Fines on the member would be involved, he said, rather than bringing people before a court.

Fíneálacha ar an mball a bheadh i gceist, a dúirt sé, seachas daoine a thabhairt os comhair cúirte.

Already, fines can be imposed on organizers and those who do not wear a mask on public transport services.

Cheana féin, is féidir fíneálacha a ghearradh ar dhaoine faoi thionóil a eagrú agus ar dhaoine nach gcaitheann masc ar sheirbhísí iompair phoiblí.

The Taoiseach also said in the Dáil that he had a good meeting this morning with Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan.

Dúirt an Taoiseach sa Dáil freisin go raibh cruinniú maith aige ar maidin leis an bPríomhoifigeach Leighis an Dr Tony Holohan.

Micheál Martin claimed that he and Dr Holohan had a strong intention to tackle the coronavirus crisis.

Mhaígh Micheál Martin go raibh rún diongbháilte aige féin agus ag an Dr Holohan dul i ngleic le géarchéim an choróinvíris.
