Úrscéal do pháistí é Fantastic Mister Fox a scríobh an t-údar Briotanach Roald Dahl, a foilsíodh i 1970.
Plot summary.
Plota achoimre.
Mister Fox is a tricky, and clever fox who lives underground beside a tree with his wife and four children.
Sionnach gruama, cliste é Mister Fox a chónaíonn faoi thalamh in aice le crann lena bhean chéile agus a cheathrar leanaí.
In order to feed his family, he makes nightly visits to farms owned by three wicked, rude, cruel and dim-witted farmers named Boggis, Bunce and Bean, whereupon he seizes the livestock available on each mans farm.
D’fhonn a theaghlach a bheathú, tugann sé cuairteanna oíche ar fheirmeacha atá ar úinéireacht ag triúr feirmeoir gránna, drochbhéasach, cruálach agus lúbach darb ainm Boggis, Bunce and Bean, agus air sin urghabhann sé an beostoc atá ar fáil ar fheirm gach fear.
Tired of being outsmarted by Mister Fox, the three farmers devise a plan to ambush him as he leaves his burrow, but they succeed only in shooting off his tail.
Agus iad tuirseach de bheith á ligean amach ag Mister Fox, ceapann an triúr feirmeoir plean chun é a luíochán agus é ag fágáil a tholl, ach ní éiríonn leo ach a eireaball a lámhach.
The three then dig up the Foxes burrow using spades and then excavators.
Ansin déanann an triúr tochailt na sionnaigh a thochailt ag úsáid rámhainní agus ansin tochaltóirí.
The Foxes manage to escape by burrowing further beneath the earth to safety.
Éiríonn leis na sionnaigh éalú trí thuirlingt níos faide faoin talamh chun sábháilteachta.
The trio are ridiculed for their persistence but they refuse to give up and vow not to return to their farms until they have caught Mister Fox.
Tá magadh ar an triúr as a mbuanseasmhacht ach diúltaíonn siad géilleadh agus geallaim gan filleadh ar a bhfeirmeacha go dtí go mbeidh Mister Fox gafa acu.
They then choose to control the foxes surroundings, waiting outside his hole until he is hungry enough to come out.
Ansin roghnaíonn siad smacht a choinneáil ar thimpeallacht na sionnaigh, ag fanacht taobh amuigh dá pholl go dtí go mbeidh ocras go leor air le teacht amach.
Cornered by their enemies, Mister Fox and his family, and all the other underground creatures that lived around the hill, begin to starve.
Ag corrú óna naimhde, tosaíonn Mister Fox agus a theaghlach, agus na créatúir faoi thalamh eile go léir a bhí ina gcónaí timpeall an chnoic, ag stánadh.
After three days trapped underground, Mister Fox devises a plot to acquire food.
Tar éis trí lá gafa faoin talamh, ceapann Mister Fox plota chun bia a fháil.
Working from his memory of the routes he has taken above ground, he and his children tunnel through the ground and wind up burrowing to one of Boggis four chicken houses.
Ag obair óna chuimhne ar na bealaí a thóg sé os cionn na talún, déanann sé féin agus a pháistí tollán tríd an talamh agus foirceannann siad go dtí ceann de na ceithre theach sicín i Boggis.
Mister Fox kills several chickens and sends his eldest son to carry the animals back home to Missus Fox.
Maraíonn Mister Fox roinnt sicíní agus seolann sé a mhac is sine chun na hainmhithe a iompar abhaile chuig Missus Fox.
On the way to their next destination, Mister Fox runs into his friend Badger and asks him to accompany him on his mission, as well as to extend an invitation to the feast to the other burrowing animals – Badger and his family, as well as the Moles, the Rabbits and the Weasels – to apologize for getting them caught up in the farmers hunt.
Ar an mbealach chuig a gcéad cheann scríbe eile, ritheann Mister Fox isteach ina chara Badger agus iarrann air dul in éineacht leis ar a mhisean, chomh maith le cuireadh chun na féasta a leathnú chuig na hainmhithe cladhacha eile – Broc agus a theaghlach, chomh maith leis an Moles, na Coiníní agus na Weasels – leithscéal a ghabháil as iad a ghabháil i bhfiach na bhfeirmeoirí.
Aided by Badger, the animals tunnel to Bunces storehouse for ducks, geese, hams, bacon and carrots (as noted by one of the Small Foxes, the Rabbits will require vegetables) and then to Beans secret cider cellar.
Le cúnamh ó Badger, déanann na hainmhithe tollán go dtí stór Store Bunce le haghaidh lachain, géanna, liamhása, bagúin agus cairéid (mar a thug ceann de na sionnaigh bheaga faoi deara, beidh glasraí ag teastáil ó na Coiníní) agus ansin chuig cellar leann úll rúnda Bean.
Here, they are nearly caught by the Beans servant Mabel, and have an unpleasant confrontation with the cellars resident, Rat.
Anseo, tá siad beagnach gafa ag seirbhíseach na Pónairí Mabel, agus tá achrann míthaitneamhach acu le cónaitheoir an cellar, Rat.
They carry their loot back home, where Missus Fox has prepared a great celebratory banquet for the starving underground animals and their families.
Iompraíonn siad a loot ar ais sa bhaile, áit a bhfuil féasta mór ceiliúrtha ullmhaithe ag Missus Fox do na hainmhithe faoi thalamh atá ag stánadh agus a dteaghlaigh.
At the table, Mister Fox invites everyone to live in a secret underground neighbourhood with him and his family, where he will hunt for them daily and where none of them will need to worry about the farmers any more.
Ag an mbord, tugann Mister Fox cuireadh do gach duine maireachtáil i gcomharsanacht rúnda faoi thalamh leis agus lena theaghlach, áit a ndéanfaidh sé fiach orthu go laethúil agus áit nach mbeidh ar aon duine acu a bheith buartha faoi na feirmeoirí a thuilleadh.
Everyone joyfully cheers for this idea, while Boggis, Bunce, and Bean are left waiting in vain for the fox to emerge from his hole.
Glaonn gach duine go lúcháireach ar an smaoineamh seo, agus fágtar Boggis, Bunce, agus Bean ag fanacht go neamhbhalbh go dtiocfaidh an sionnach amach as a pholl.
The book ends with “And so far as I know, they are still waiting.”
Críochnaíonn an leabhar le “Agus chomh fada agus is eol dom, tá siad fós ag fanacht.”
