1 I, a ruler in the church, send word to the noble sister who is of God's selection, and to her children, for whom I have true love; and not only I, but all who have knowledge of what is true;

1 EL anciano á la señora elegida y á sus hijos, á los cuales yo amo en verdad y no yo solo, sino también todos los que han conocido la verdad,
1 Der Älteste: der auserwählten Frau und ihren Kindern, die ich liebhabe in der Wahrheit, und nicht allein ich sondern auch alle, die die Wahrheit erkannt haben,
2 Because of this true knowledge which is in us, and will be with us for ever:
2 à cause de la vérité qui demeure en nous, et qui sera avec nous pour l'éternité:
2 i ngeall ar an bhfírinne a mhaireann buan ionainn agus a mhairfidh ionainn go brách:
2 Por la verdad que está en nosotros, y será perpetuamente con nosotros:
2 um der Wahrheit willen, die in uns bleibt und bei uns sein wird in Ewigkeit.
3 May grace, mercy, and peace be with us from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in all true love.
3 que la grâce, la miséricorde et la paix soient avec vous de la part de Dieu le Père et de la part de Jésus Christ, le Fils du Père, dans la vérité et la charité!
3 beidh grásta agus trócaire agus síocháin i bhfírinne agus i gcarthanacht orainn ó Dhia an tAthair agus ó Íosa Críost Mac an Athar.
3 Sea con vosotros gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo, Hijo del Padre, en verdad y en amor.
3 Gnade, Barmherzigkeit, Friede von Gott, dem Vater, und von dem HERRN Jesus Christus, dem Sohn des Vaters, in der Wahrheit und in der Liebe, sei mit euch!
4 It gave me great joy to see some of your children walking in the true way, even as we were ordered to do by the Father.
4 J'ai été fort réjoui de trouver de tes enfants qui marchent dans la vérité, selon le commandement que nous avons reçu du Père.
4 Ba mhór mo lúcháir a aireachtáil go bhfuil cuid de do chlann ag siúl san fhírinne de réir na haithne a fuaireamar ón Athair.
4 Mucho me he gozado, porque he hallado de tus hijos, que andan en verdad, como nosotros hemos recibido el mandamiento del Padre.
4 Ich bin erfreut, daß ich gefunden habe unter deinen Kindern, die in der Wahrheit wandeln, wie denn wir ein Gebot vom Vater empfangen haben.
5 And now, my sister, I make a request to you, not sending you a new law, but the law which we had from the first, that we have love for one another.
5 Et maintenant, ce que je te demande, Kyria, -non comme te prescrivant un commandement nouveau, mais celui que nous avons eu dès le commencement, -c'est que nous nous aimions les uns les autres.
5 Ach anois achainím ar do Shoilse - ní amhail is dá mbeinn ag scríobh nua-aithne chugat ach an ceann a bhí againn ó thús - go dtugaimis grá dá chéile.
5 Y ahora te ruego, señora, no como escribiéndote un nuevo mandamiento, sino aquel que nosotros hemos tenido desde el principio, que nos amemos unos á otros.
5 Und nun bitte ich dich, Frau (nicht als schriebe ich dir ein neues Gebot, sondern das wir gehabt haben von Anfang), daß wir uns untereinander lieben.
6 And love is the keeping of his laws. This is the law which was given to you from the first, so that you might keep it.
6 Et l'amour consiste à marcher selon ses commandements. C'est là le commandement dans lequel vous devez marcher, comme vous l'avez appris dès le commencement.
6 Agus is é seo an grá - go siúlaimis de réir a aitheanta: Seo í an aithne, mar a chuala sibh ó thús í, go siúlaimis sa ghrá.
6 Y este es amor, que andemos según sus mandamientos. Este es el mandamiento: Que andéis en él, como vosotros habéis oído desde el principio.
6 Und das ist die Liebe, daß wir wandeln nach seinem Gebot; das ist das Gebot, wie ihr gehört habt von Anfang, daß ihr in derselben wandeln sollt.
7 Because a number of false teachers have gone out into the world, who do not give witness that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. Such a one is a false teacher and Antichrist.
7 Car plusieurs séducteurs sont entrés dans le monde, qui ne confessent point que Jésus Christ est venu en chair. Celui qui est tel, c'est le séducteur et l'antéchrist.
7 Mar go ndeachaigh mórán mealltóirí ar an saol amach, daoine nach n‑admhaíonn teacht Íosa Críost i gcolainn dhaonna. Sin é an mealltóir agus an tAinchríost.
7 Porque muchos engañadores son entrados en el mundo, los cuales no confiesan que Jesucristo ha venido en carne. Este tal el engañador es, y el anticristo.
7 Denn viele Verführer sind in die Welt gekommen, die nicht bekennen Jesum Christum, daß er in das Fleisch gekommen ist. Das ist der Verführer und der Widerchrist.
8 Keep watch over yourselves, so that you do not make our work of no effect, but may get your full reward.
8 Prenez garde à vous-mêmes, afin que vous ne perdiez pas le fruit de votre travail, mais que vous receviez une pleine récompense.
8 Aire daoibh, le nach gcaille sibh ar shaothraigh sibh, ach go bhfaighe sibh an lánluach.
8 Mirad por vosotros mismos, porque no perdamos las cosas que hemos obrado, sino que recibamos galardón cumplido.
8 Sehet euch vor, daß wir nicht verlieren, was wir erarbeitet haben, sondern vollen Lohn empfangen.
9 Anyone who goes on and does not keep to the teaching of Christ, has not God: he who keeps to the teaching has the Father and the Son.
9 Quiconque va plus loin et ne demeure pas dans la doctrine de Christ n'a point Dieu; celui qui demeure dans cette doctrine a le Père et le Fils.
9 Gach duine a leanann leis ar aghaidh agus nach gcloíonn le teagasc Chríost ní shealbhaíonn Dia. An té a chloíonn leis an teagasc sealbhaíonn sé sin an tAthair agus an Mac.
9 Cualquiera que se rebela, y no persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, no tiene á Dios: el que persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, el tal tiene al Padre y al Hijo.
9 Wer übertritt und bleibt nicht in der Lehre Christi, der hat keinen Gott; wer in der Lehre Christi bleibt, der hat beide, den Vater und den Sohn.
10 If anyone comes to you not having this teaching, do not take him into your house or give him words of love:
10 Si quelqu'un vient à vous et n'apporte pas cette doctrine, ne le recevez pas dans votre maison, et ne lui dites pas: Salut!
10 Má thagann aon duine chugaibh agus gan an teagasc sin aige, ná fáiltigí roimhe sa teach, agus ná beannaígí dó.
10 Si alguno viene á vosotros, y no trae esta doctrina, no lo recibáis en casa, ni le digáis: ¡bienvenido!
10 So jemand zu euch kommt und bringt diese Lehre nicht, den nehmet nicht ins Haus und grüßet ihn auch nicht.
11 For he who gives him words of love has a part in his evil works.
11 car celui qui lui dit: Salut! participe à ses mauvaises oeuvres.

11 Porque el que le dice bienvenido, comunica con sus malas obras.

12 Having much to say to you, it is not my purpose to put it all down with paper and ink: but I am hoping to come to you, and to have talk with you face to face, so that your joy may be full.
12 Quoique j'eusse beaucoup de choses à vous écrire, je n'ai pas voulu le faire avec le papier et l'encre; mais j'espère aller chez vous, et vous parler de bouche à bouche, afin que notre joie soit parfaite.

12 Aunque tengo muchas cosas que escribiros, no he querido comunicarlas por medio de papel y tinta; mas espero ir á vosotros, y hablar boca á boca, para que nuestro gozo sea cumplido.
12 Ich hatte euch viel zu schreiben, aber ich wollte nicht mit Briefen und Tinte; sondern ich hoffe, zu euch zu kommen und mündlich mit euch reden, auf daß unsere Freude vollkommen sei.
13 The children of your noble sister, who is of God's selection, send you their love.
13 Les enfants de ta soeur l'élue te saluent.
