1 SIMON Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesucristo, á los que habéis alcanzado fe igualmente preciosa con nosotros en la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo:
1 Simon Petrus, ein Knecht und Apostel Jesu Christi, denen, die mit uns ebendenselben teuren Glauben überkommen haben in der Gerechtigkeit, die unser Gott gibt und der Heiland Jesus Christus:
2 May grace and peace ever be increasing in you, in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;

2 Gracia y paz os sea multiplicada en el conocimiento de Dios, y de nuestro Señor Jesús.
2 Gott gebe euch viel Gnade und Frieden durch die Erkenntnis Gottes und Jesu Christi, unsers HERRN!
3 Because by his power he has given us everything necessary for life and righteousness, through the knowledge of him who has been our guide by his glory and virtue;
3 Comme sa divine puissance nous a donné tout ce qui contribue à la vie et à la piété, au moyen de la connaissance de celui qui nous a appelés par sa propre gloire et par sa vertu,
3 Dháil a chumhacht dhiaga orainn gach a mbaineann leis an mbeatha agus leis an gcráifeacht de bharr aithne a chur airsean a ghlaoigh orainn chun a ghlóire agus a mhórgachta;
3 Como todas las cosas que pertenecen á la vida y á la piedad nos sean dadas de su divina potencia, por el conocimiento de aquel que nos ha llamado por su gloria y virtud:
3 Nachdem allerlei seiner göttlichen Kraft, was zum Leben und göttlichen Wandel dient, uns geschenkt ist durch die Erkenntnis des, der uns berufen hat durch seine Herrlichkeit und Tugend,
4 And through this he has given us the hope of great rewards highly to be valued; so that by them we might have our part in God's being, and be made free from the destruction which is in the world through the desires of the flesh.
4 lesquelles nous assurent de sa part les plus grandes et les plus précieuses promesses, afin que par elles vous deveniez participants de la nature divine, en fuyant la corruption qui existe dans le monde par la convoitise,

4 Por las cuales nos son dadas preciosas y grandísimas promesas, para que por ellas fueseis hechos participantes de la naturaleza divina, habiendo huído de la corrupción que está en el mundo por concupiscencia.
4 durch welche uns die teuren und allergrößten Verheißungen geschenkt sind, nämlich, daß ihr dadurch teilhaftig werdet der göttlichen Natur, so ihr fliehet die vergängliche Lust der Welt;
5 So, for this very cause, take every care; joining virtue to faith, and knowledge to virtue,

6 And self-control to knowledge, and a quiet mind to self-control, and fear of God to a quiet mind,

6 Y en la ciencia templanza, y en la templanza paciencia, y en la paciencia temor de Dios;

7 And love of the brothers to fear of God, and to love of the brothers, love itself.

8 For if you have these things in good measure, they will make you fertile and full of fruit in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
8 Car si ces choses sont en vous, et y sont avec abondance, elles ne vous laisseront point oisifs ni stériles pour la connaissance de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.
8 Má tá na nithe seo agaibh agus agaibh go flúirseach, ní fhágfaidh siad gan éifeacht gan toradh sibh de bharr bhur n‑aithne ar ár dTiarna Íosa Críost.
8 Porque si en vosotros hay estas cosas, y abundan, no os dejarán estar ociosos, ni estériles en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
8 Denn wo solches reichlich bei euch ist, wird's euch nicht faul noch unfruchtbar sein lassen in der Erkenntnis unsers HERRN Jesu Christi;
9 For the man who has not these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having no memory of how he was made clean from his old sins.
9 Mais celui en qui ces choses ne sont point est aveugle, il ne voit pas de loin, et il a mis en oubli la purification de ses anciens péchés.
9 An té a bhfuil na nithe sin de dhíth air, tá sé dallta caoch agus dearmad déanta aige air gur glanadh é óna sheanpheacaí.
9 Mas el que no tiene estas cosas, es ciego, y tiene la vista muy corta, habiendo olvidado la purificación de sus antiguos pecados.
9 welcher aber solches nicht hat, der ist blind und tappt mit der Hand und vergißt die Reinigung seiner vorigen Sünden.
10 For this reason, my brothers, take all the more care to make your selection and approval certain; for if you do these things you will never have a fall:
10 C'est pourquoi, frères, appliquez-vous d'autant plus à affermir votre vocation et votre élection; car, en faisant cela, vous ne broncherez jamais.
10 Dá bhrí sin, a bhráithre, bígí níos dícheallaí fós ag daingniú bhur ngairme agus na rogha a rinneadh díbh; má dhéanann sibh amhlaidh ní baol go dtitfidh sibh choíche.
10 Por lo cual, hermanos, procurad tanto más de hacer firme vuestra vocación y elección; porque haciendo estas cosas, no caeréis jamás.
10 Darum, liebe Brüder, tut desto mehr Fleiß, eure Berufung und Erwählung festzumachen; denn wo ihr solches tut, werdet ihr nicht straucheln,
11 For so the way will be open to you into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
11 C'est ainsi, en effet, que l'entrée dans le royaume éternel de notre Seigneur et Sauveur Jésus Christ vous sera pleinement accordée.
11 Ar an tslí sin déanfar bealach isteach i ríocht shíoraí ár dTiarna, agus ár Slánaitheora, a sholáthar go fial flaithiúil daoibh. Teacht Glórmhar Chríost
11 Porque de esta manera os será abundantemente administrada la entrada en el reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.
11 und also wird euch reichlich dargereicht werden der Eingang zu dem ewigen Reich unsers HERRN und Heilandes Jesu Christi.
12 For this reason I will be ready at all times to keep your memory of these things awake, though you have the knowledge of them now and are well based in your present faith.
12 Voilà pourquoi je prendrai soin de vous rappeler ces choses, bien que vous les sachiez et que vous soyez affermis dans la vérité présente.
12 Tá sé ar intinn agam, dá bhrí sin, a bheith ag cur na nithe seo de shíor i gcuimhne daoibh, cé go bhfuil sibh eolach orthu agus go bhfuil sibh daingnithe san fhírinne atá agaibh.
12 Por esto, yo no dejaré de amonestaros siempre de estas cosas, aunque vosotros las sepáis, y estéis confirmados en la verdad presente.
12 Darum will ich's nicht lassen, euch allezeit daran zu erinnern, wiewohl ihr's wisset und gestärkt seid in der gegenwärtigen Wahrheit.
13 And it seems right to me, as long as I am in this tent of flesh, to keep your minds awake by working on your memory;
13 Et je regarde comme un devoir, aussi longtemps que je suis dans cette tente, de vous tenir en éveil par des avertissements,

13 Porque tengo por justo, en tanto que estoy en este tabernáculo, de incitaros con amonestación:
13 Ich achte es für billig, solange ich in dieser Hütte bin, euch zu erinnern und zu erwecken;
14 For I am conscious that in a short time I will have to put off this tent of flesh, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
14 car je sais que je la quitterai subitement, ainsi que notre Seigneur Jésus Christ me l'a fait connaître.
14 mar go bhfuil a fhios agam nach fada uaim go gcuirfidh mé díom an bhoth seo faoi mar a nocht ár dTiarna Íosa Críost dom.
14 Sabiendo que brevemente tengo de dejar mi tabernáculo, como nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha declarado.
14 denn ich weiß, daß ich meine Hütte bald ablegen muß, wie mir denn auch unser HERR Jesus Christus eröffnet hat.
15 And I will take every care so that you may have a clear memory of these things after my death.
15 Mais j'aurai soin qu'après mon départ vous puissiez toujours vous souvenir de ces choses.
15 Agus féachfaidh mé chuige go mbeidh ar bhur gcumas, tar éis domsa imeacht, na nithe seo a thabhairt chun cuimhne uair ar bith.
15 También yo procuraré con diligencia, que después de mi fallecimiento, vosotros podáis siempre tener memoria de estas cosas.
15 Ich will aber Fleiß tun, daß ihr allezeit nach meinem Abschied solches im Gedächtnis halten könnt.
16 For when we gave you news of the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our teaching was not based on stories put together by art, but we were eye-witnesses of his glory.
16 Ce n'est pas, en effet, en suivant des fables habilement conçues, que nous vous avons fait connaître la puissance et l'avènement de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ, mais c'est comme ayant vu sa majesté de nos propres yeux.
16 Ní ag aithris aon fhabhalscéalta a ceapadh go cliste a bhíomar nuair a thugamar eolas daoibh ar chumhacht, agus ar theacht ár dTiarna Íosa Críost, mar chonaiceamar a mhórgacht lenár súile cinn.
16 Porque no os hemos dado á conocer la potencia y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, siguiendo fábulas por arte compuestas; sino como habiendo con nuestros propios ojos visto su majestad.
16 Denn wir sind nicht klugen Fabeln gefolgt, da wir euch kundgetan haben die Kraft und Zukunft unsers HERRN Jesus Christus; sondern wir haben seine Herrlichkeit selber gesehen,
17 For God the Father gave him honour and glory, when such a voice came to him out of the great glory, saying, This is my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased.
17 Car il a reçu de Dieu le Père honneur et gloire, quand la gloire magnifique lui fit entendre une voix qui disait: Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui j'ai mis toute mon affection.
17 Fuair sé glóir agus onóir ó Dhia an tAthair nuair a seoladh a leithéid seo de ghuth anuas chuige ón Ghlóir Mhaorga: “Is é seo mo Mhac muirneach dár thug mé gnaoi.”
17 Porque él había recibido de Dios Padre honra y gloria, cuando una tal voz fué á él enviada de la magnífica gloria: Este es el amado Hijo mío, en el cual yo me he agradado.
17 da er empfing von Gott, dem Vater, Ehre und Preis durch eine Stimme, die zu ihm geschah von der großen Herrlichkeit: "Dies ist mein lieber Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe."
18 And this voice came from heaven even to our ears, when we were with him on the holy mountain.
18 Et nous avons entendu cette voix venant du ciel, lorsque nous étions avec lui sur la sainte montagne.

18 Y nosotros oímos esta voz enviada del cielo, cuando estábamos juntamente con él en el monte santo.
18 Und diese Stimme haben wir gehört vom Himmel geschehen, da wir mit ihm waren auf dem heiligen Berge.
19 And so the words of the prophets are made more certain; and it is well for you to give attention to them as to a light shining in a dark place, till the dawn comes and the morning star is seen in your hearts;
19 Et nous tenons pour d'autant plus certaine la parole prophétique, à laquelle vous faites bien de prêter attention, comme à une lampe qui brille dans un lieu obscur, jusqu'à ce que le jour vienne à paraître et que l'étoile du matin se lève dans vos coeurs;
19 Fágann sin an briathar fáidhiúil níos iontaofa againn, agus ba mhaith an mhaise daoibh aird a thabhairt air mar a dhéanfadh sibh ar lóchrann ag lonrú in áit dhorcha, nó go ngealfaidh an lá agus go n‑éireoidh réalta na maidine in bhur gcroí.
19 Tenemos también la palabra profética más permanente, á la cual hacéis bien de estar atentos como á una antorcha que alumbra en lugar oscuro hasta que el día esclarezca, y el lucero de la mañana salga en vuestros corazones:
19 Und wir haben desto fester das prophetische Wort, und ihr tut wohl, daß ihr darauf achtet als auf ein Licht, das da scheint in einem dunklen Ort, bis der Tag anbreche und der Morgenstern aufgehe in euren Herzen.
20 Being conscious in the first place that no man by himself may give a special sense to the words of the prophets.

20 Entendiendo primero esto, que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es de particular interpretación;
20 Und das sollt ihr für das Erste wissen, daß keine Weissagung in der Schrift geschieht aus eigener Auslegung.
21 For these words did not ever come through the impulse of men: but the prophets had them from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
21 car ce n'est pas par une volonté d'homme qu'une prophétie a jamais été apportée, mais c'est poussés par le Saint Esprit que des hommes ont parlé de la part de Dieu.
