1 Do not all be teachers, my brothers, because we teachers will be judged more hardly than others.

5 De même, la langue est un petit membre, et elle se vante de grandes choses. Voici, comme un petit feu peut embraser une grande forêt.

6 La langue aussi est un feu; c'est le monde de l'iniquité. La langue est placée parmi nos membres, souillant tout le corps, et enflammant le cours de la vie, étant elle-même enflammée par la géhenne.
6 Lasair an teanga chomh maith; is domhan coirpeachta í an teanga i measc ár mball, agus í ag truailliú an choirp ar fad, ag cur cúrsa an tsaoil trí thine, agus ifreann á cur féin ar lasadh.
6 Y la lengua es un fuego, un mundo de maldad. Así la lengua está puesta entre nuestros miembros, la cual contamina todo el cuerpo, é inflama la rueda de la creación, y es inflamada del infierno.
6 Und die Zunge ist auch ein Feuer, eine Welt voll Ungerechtigkeit. Also ist die Zunge unter unsern Gliedern und befleckt den ganzen Leib und zündet an allen unsern Wandel, wenn sie von der Hölle entzündet ist.
7 For every sort of beast and bird and every living thing on earth and in the sea has been controlled by man and is under his authority;
7 Toutes les espèces de bêtes et d'oiseaux, de reptiles et d'animaux marins, sont domptés et ont été domptés par la nature humaine;

13 Who has wisdom and good sense among you? let him make his works clear by a life of gentle wisdom.
13 Lequel d'entre vous est sage et intelligent? Qu'il montre ses oeuvres par une bonne conduite avec la douceur de la sagesse.

14 But if you have bitter envy in your heart and the desire to get the better of others, have no pride in this, talking falsely against what is true.
14 Mais si vous avez dans votre coeur un zèle amer et un esprit de dispute, ne vous glorifiez pas et ne mentez pas contre la vérité.

17 But the wisdom which is from heaven is first holy, then gentle, readily giving way in argument, full of peace and mercy and good works, not doubting, not seeming other than it is.
17 La sagesse d'en haut est premièrement pure, ensuite pacifique, modérée, conciliante, pleine de miséricorde et de bons fruits, exempte de duplicité, d'hypocrisie.

17 Mas la sabiduría que es de lo alto, primeramente es pura, después pacífica, modesta, benigna, llena de misericordia y de buenos frutos, no juzgadora, no fingida.
17 Die Weisheit von obenher ist auf's erste keusch, darnach friedsam, gelinde, läßt sich sagen, voll Barmherzigkeit und guter Früchte, unparteiisch, ohne Heuchelei.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is planted in peace for those who make peace.
18 Le fruit de la justice est semé dans la paix par ceux qui recherchent la paix.
