1 My brothers, if you have the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory, do not take a man's position into account.

1 HERMANOS míos, no tengáis la fe de nuestro Señor Jesucristo glorioso en acepción de personas.
1 Liebe Brüder, haltet nicht dafür, daß der Glaube an Jesum Christum, unsern HERRN der Herrlichkeit, Ansehung der Person leide.
2 For if a man comes into your Synagogue in fair clothing and with a gold ring, and a poor man comes in with dirty clothing,
2 Supposez, en effet, qu'il entre dans votre assemblée un homme avec un anneau d'or et un habit magnifique, et qu'il y entre aussi un pauvre misérablement vêtu;
2 Mar má thagann fear faoi fháinní óir agus é dea-ghléasta isteach in bhur dtionól, agus má thagann fear eile isteach agus é bocht agus gan ach drochéadach air,
2 Porque si en vuestra congregación entra un hombre con anillo de oro, y de preciosa ropa, y también entra un pobre con vestidura vil,
2 Denn so in eure Versammlung käme ein Mann mit einem goldenen Ringe und mit einem herrlichen Kleide, es käme aber auch ein Armer in einem unsauberen Kleide,
3 And you do honour to the man in fair clothing and say, Come here and take this good place; and you say to the poor man, Take up your position there, or be seated at my feet;
3 si, tournant vos regards vers celui qui porte l'habit magnifique, vous lui dites: Toi, assieds-toi ici à cette place d'honneur! et si vous dites au pauvre: Toi, tiens-toi là debout! ou bien: Assieds-toi au-dessous de mon marche-pied,
3 agus má thugann sibhse ómós don té a bhfuil an t‑éadach maith air agus a rá leis: “Bíodh an suíochán maith anseo agat,” agus a rá leis an bhfear bocht: “Seas ansiúd thall,” nó: “Suigh ar an urlár le hais stól mo chos,”
3 Y tuviereis respeto al que trae la vestidura preciosa, y le dijereis: Siéntate tú aquí en buen lugar: y dijereis al pobre: Estáte tú allí en pie; ó siéntate aquí debajo de mi estrado:
3 und ihr sähet auf den, der das herrliche Kleid trägt, und sprächet zu ihm: Setze du dich her aufs beste! und sprächet zu dem Armen: Stehe du dort! oder setze dich her zu meinen Füßen!
4 Is there not a division in your minds? have you not become judges with evil thoughts?
4 ne faites vous pas en vous-mêmes une distinction, et ne jugez-vous pas sous l'inspiration de pensées mauvaises?
4 nach bhfuil sibh ag déanamh leathchuma, agus nach bhfuil breithiúna déanta díbh, breithiúna na mbreitheanna éagóra?
4 ¿No juzguáis en vosotros mismos, y venís á ser jueces de pensamientos malos?
4 ist's recht, daß ihr solchen Unterschied bei euch selbst macht und richtet nach argen Gedanken?
5 Give ear, my dear brothers; are not those who are poor in the things of this world marked out by God to have faith as their wealth, and for their heritage the kingdom which he has said he will give to those who have love for him?
5 Écoutez, mes frères bien-aimés: Dieu n'a-t-il pas choisi les pauvres aux yeux du monde, pour qu'ils soient riches en la foi, et héritiers du royaume qu'il a promis à ceux qui l'aiment?
5 Éistigí, a bhráithre ionúine, nach iad an mhuintir atá bocht os comhair an tsaoil a thogh Dia le bheith saibhir sa chreideamh agus le bheith ina n‑oidhrí ar an ríocht a gheall sé dóibh siúd a thugann grá dó?
5 Hermanos míos amados, oid: ¿No ha elegido Dios los pobres de este mundo, ricos en fe, y herederos del reino que ha prometido á los que le aman?
5 Höret zu, meine lieben Brüder! Hat nicht Gott erwählt die Armen auf dieser Welt, die am Glauben reich sind und Erben des Reichs, welches er verheißen hat denen, die ihn liebhaben?
6 But you have put the poor man to shame. Are not the men of wealth rulers over you? do they not take you by force before their judges?
6 Et vous, vous avilissez le pauvre! Ne sont-ce pas les riches qui vous oppriment, et qui vous traînent devant les tribunaux?
6 Sibhse ámh, thug sibh easonóir don duine bocht. Nach iad lucht an tsaibhris a dhéanann leatrom oraibh? Nach iadsan a tharraingíonn os comhair na cúirte sibh?
6 Mas vosotros habéis afrentado al pobre. ¿No os oprimen los ricos, y no son ellos los mismos que os arrastran á los juzgados?
6 Ihr aber habt dem Armen Unehre getan. Sind nicht die Reichen die, die Gewalt an euch üben und ziehen euch vor Gericht?
7 Do they not say evil of the holy name which was given to you?
7 Ne sont-ce pas eux qui outragent le beau nom que vous portez?
7 Nach iadsan a dhiamhaslaíonn an t‑ainm uasal dár tíolacadh sibh?
7 ¿No blasfeman ellos el buen nombre que fué invocado sobre vosotros?
7 Verlästern sie nicht den guten Namen, nach dem ihr genannt seid?
8 But if you keep the greatest law of all, as it is given in the holy Writings, Have love for your neighbour as for yourself, you do well:
8 Si vous accomplissez la loi royale, selon l'Écriture: Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même, vous faites bien.
8 Má chomhlíonann sibh an dlí ríoga de réir an scrioptúir: “Gráigh do chomharsa mar thú féin,” ansin más ea, tá sibh ag déanamh go maith.
8 Si en verdad cumplís vosotros la ley real, conforme á la Escritura: Amarás á tu prójimo como á ti mismo, bien hacéis:
8 So ihr das königliche Gesetz erfüllet nach der Schrift: "Liebe deinen Nächsten wie dich selbst," so tut ihr wohl;
9 But if you take a man's position into account, you do evil, and are judged as evil-doers by the law.
9 Mais si vous faites acception de personnes, vous commettez un péché, vous êtes condamnés par la loi comme des transgresseurs.
9 Ach má dhéanann sibh leathchuma, tá peaca á dhéanamh agaibh, agus tá sibh daortha mar choireacha ag an dlí.
9 Mas si hacéis acepción de personas, cometéis pecado, y sois reconvenidos de la ley como transgresores.
9 so ihr aber die Person ansehet, tut ihr Sünde und werdet überführt vom Gesetz als Übertreter.
10 For anyone who keeps all the law, but makes a slip in one point, is judged to have gone against it all.
10 Car quiconque observe toute la loi, mais pèche contre un seul commandement, devient coupable de tous.
10 Óir cibé duine a choimeádann an dlí go léir ach a thuislíonn san aon phonc amháin, ciontaítear é san iomlán.
10 Porque cualquiera que hubiere guardado toda la ley, y ofendiere en un punto, es hecho culpado de todos.
10 Denn so jemand das ganze Gesetz hält und sündigt an einem, der ist's ganz schuldig.
11 For he who said, Do not be untrue in married life, is the same who said, Put no man to death. Now if you are not untrue in married life, but you put a man to death, the law is broken.
11 En effet, celui qui a dit: Tu ne commettras point d'adultère, a dit aussi: Tu ne tueras point. Or, si tu ne commets point d'adultère, mais que tu commettes un meurtre, tu deviens transgresseur de la loi.
11 Mar an té a dúirt: “Ná déan adhaltranas,” dúirt sé freisin: “Ná déan marú.” Mura ndéanann tú adhaltranas, ach má dhéanann tú marú, tá coireach in aghaidh an dlí déanta díot.
11 Porque el que dijo: No cometerás adulterio, también ha dicho: No matarás. Ahora bien, si no hubieres matado, ya eres hecho transgresor de la ley.
11 Denn der da gesagt hat: "Du sollst nicht ehebrechen," der hat auch gesagt: "Du sollst nicht töten." So du nun nicht ehebrichst, tötest aber, bist du ein Übertreter des Gesetzes.
12 Let your words and your acts be those of men who are to be judged by the law which makes free.
12 Parlez et agissez comme devant être jugés par une loi de liberté,

13 For the man who has had no mercy will be judged without mercy, but mercy takes pride in overcoming judging.
13 car le jugement est sans miséricorde pour qui n'a pas fait miséricorde. La miséricorde triomphe du jugement.
13 Óir tá breithiúnas gan trócaire le tabhairt ar an té nach ndearna trócaire; ach sáraíonn an trócaire an breithiúnas. Creideamh agus Dea-Oibreacha
13 Porque juicio sin misericordia será hecho con aquel que no hiciere misericordia: y la misericordia se gloría contra el juicio.
13 Es wird aber ein unbarmherziges Gericht über den ergehen, der nicht Barmherzigkeit getan hat; und die Barmherzigkeit rühmt sich wider das Gericht.
14 What use is it, my brothers, for a man to say that he has faith, if he does nothing? will such a faith give him salvation?
14 Mes frère, que sert-il à quelqu'un de dire qu'il a la foi, s'il n'a pas les oeuvres? La foi peut-elle le sauver?
14 Cén tairbhe é, a bhráithre liom, má deir duine go bhfuil creideamh aige, ach é gan dea-oibreacha? An féidir don chreideamh é a shábháil?
14 Hermanos míos, ¿qué aprovechará si alguno dice que tiene fe, y no tiene obras? ¿Podrá la fe salvarle?
14 Was hilfst, liebe Brüder, so jemand sagt, er habe den Glauben, und hat doch die Werke nicht? Kann auch der Glaube ihn selig machen?
15 If a brother or a sister is without clothing and in need of the day's food,
15 Si un frère ou une soeur sont nus et manquent de la nourriture de chaque jour,
15 Má tá deartháir nó deirfiúr gan éadach agus gan cuid an lae de bhia acu,
15 Y si el hermano ó la hermana están desnudos, y tienen necesidad del mantenimiento de cada día,
15 So aber ein Bruder oder eine Schwester bloß wäre und Mangel hätte der täglichen Nahrung,
16 And one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warm and full of food; but you do not give them the things of which their bodies have need, what profit is there in this?
16 et que l'un d'entre vous leur dise: Allez en paix, chauffez-vous et vous rassasiez! et que vous ne leur donniez pas ce qui est nécessaire au corps, à quoi cela sert-il?
16 agus go ndeir duine agaibhse leo: “Imígí faoi shíocháin; faighigí goradh agus ithigí bhur sáith,” agus nach dtugann sibh riachtanais na beatha dóibh, cén tairbhe é?
16 Y alguno de vosotros les dice: Id en paz, calentaos y hartaos; pero no les diereis las cosas que son necesarias para el cuerpo: ¿qué aprovechará?
16 und jemand unter euch spräche zu ihnen: Gott berate euch, wärmet euch und sättiget euch! ihr gäbet ihnen aber nicht, was des Leibes Notdurft ist: was hülfe ihnen das?
17 Even so faith without works is dead.
17 Il en est ainsi de la foi: si elle n'a pas les oeuvres, elle est morte en elle-même.
17 Sé a fhearacht sin ag an gcreideamh é. Tá sé marbh leis féin gan dea-oibreacha.
17 Así también la fe, si no tuviere obras, es muerta en sí misma.
17 Also auch der Glaube, wenn er nicht Werke hat, ist er tot an ihm selber.
18 But a man may say, You have faith and I have works; let me see your faith without your works, and I will make my faith clear to you by my works.
18 Mais quelqu'un dira: Toi, tu as la foi; et moi, j'ai les oeuvres. Montre-moi ta foi sans les oeuvres, et moi, je te montrerai la foi par mes oeuvres.
18 Ach déarfaidh duine éigin: “Tá creideamh agatsa agus tá dea-oibreacha agamsa.” Taispeáin dom do chreideamh in éagmais do dhea-oibreacha, agus taispeánfaidh mise mo chreideamh duitse trí mo dhea-oibreacha.
18 Pero alguno dirá: Tú tienes fe, y yo tengo obras: muéstrame tu fe sin tus obras, y yo te mostraré mi fe por mis obras.
18 Aber es möchte jemand sagen: Du hast den Glauben, und ich habe die Werke; zeige mir deinen Glauben ohne die Werke, so will ich dir meinen Glauben zeigen aus meinen Werken.
19 You have the belief that God is one, and you do well: the evil spirits have the same belief, shaking with fear.
19 Tu crois qu'il y a un seul Dieu, tu fais bien; les démons le croient aussi, et ils tremblent.
19 Creideann tú gurb aon é Dia, agus is maith mar a dhéanann tú; ach creideann na deamhain chomh maith, agus bíonn siad ar crith.
19 Tú crees que Dios es uno; bien haces: también los demonios creen, y tiemblan.
19 Du glaubst, daß ein einiger Gott ist? Du tust wohl daran; die Teufel glauben's auch und zittern.
20 Do you not see, O foolish man, that faith without works is of no use?
20 Veux-tu savoir, ô homme vain, que la foi sans les oeuvres est inutile?

21 Was not the righteousness of Abraham our father judged by his works, when he made an offering of Isaac his son on the altar?
21 Abraham, notre père, ne fut-il pas justifié par les oeuvres, lorsqu'il offrit son fils Isaac sur l'autel?
21 Nár fíréanaíodh Abrahám ár n‑athair trína dhea-oibreacha nuair a d'ofráil sé a mhac Íosác ar an altóir?
21 ¿No fué justificado por las obras Abraham nuestro padre, cuando ofreció á su hijo Isaac sobre el altar?
21 Ist nicht Abraham, unser Vater, durch die Werke gerecht geworden, da er seinen Sohn Isaak auf dem Altar opferte?
22 You see that his faith was helping his works and was made complete by them;
22 Tu vois que la foi agissait avec ses oeuvres, et que par les oeuvres la foi fut rendue parfaite.

22 ¿No ves que la fe obró con sus obras, y que la fe fué perfecta por las obras?
22 Da siehst du, daß der Glaube mitgewirkt hat an seinen Werken, und durch die Werke ist der Glaube vollkommen geworden;
23 And the holy Writings were put into effect which said, And Abraham had faith in God and it was put to his account as righteousness; and he was named the friend of God.
23 Ainsi s'accomplit ce que dit l'Écriture: Abraham crut à Dieu, et cela lui fut imputé à justice; et il fut appelé ami de Dieu.
23 Agus comhlíonadh an scrioptúr a deir: “Chreid Abrahám i nDia, agus áiríodh é sin ina leith mar fhíréantacht” agus tugadh cara Dé air.
23 Y fué cumplida la Escritura que dice: Abraham creyó á Dios, y le fué imputado á justicia, y fué llamado amigo de Dios.
23 und ist die Schrift erfüllt, die da spricht: "Abraham hat Gott geglaubt, und das ist ihm zur Gerechtigkeit gerechnet," und er ward ein Freund Gottes geheißen.
24 You see that a man's righteousness is judged by his works and not by his faith only.
24 Vous voyez que l'homme est justifié par les oeuvres, et non par la foi seulement.

25 And in the same way, was not the righteousness of Rahab, the loose woman, judged by her works, when she took into her house those who were sent and let them go out by another way?
25 Rahab la prostituée ne fut-elle pas également justifiée par les oeuvres, lorsqu'elle reçut les messagers et qu'elle les fit partir par un autre chemin?

25 Asimismo también Rahab la ramera, ¿no fué justificada por obras, cuando recibió los mensajeros, y los echó fuera por otro camino?
25 Desgleichen die Hure Rahab, ist sie nicht durch die Werke gerecht geworden, da sie die Boten aufnahm und ließ sie einen andern Weg hinaus?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead even so faith without works is dead.
26 Comme le corps sans âme est mort, de même la foi sans les oeuvres est morte.
