1 And last of all, the prayer which we make to you from our heart and in the name of the Lord Jesus, is this: that as we made clear to you what sort of behaviour is pleasing to God, as in fact you are doing now, so you will go on in these ways, but more and more.
1 Au reste, frères, puisque vous avez appris de nous comment vous devez vous conduire et plaire à Dieu, et que c'est là ce que vous faites, nous vous prions et nous vous conjurons au nom du Seigneur Jésus de marcher à cet égard de progrès en progrès.

1 RESTA pues, hermanos, que os roguemos y exhortemos en el Señor Jesús, que de la manera que fuisteis enseñados de nosotros de cómo os conviene andar, y agradar á Dios, así vayáis creciendo.
1 Weiter, liebe Brüder, bitten wir euch und ermahnen in dem HERRN Jesus (nach dem ihr von uns empfangen habt, wie ihr solltet wandeln und Gott gefallen), daß ihr immer völliger werdet.
2 Because you have in mind the orders we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
2 Vous savez, en effet, quels préceptes nous vous avons donnés de la part du Seigneur Jésus.
2 Tá a fhios agaibh cad iad na treoracha a thugamar daoibh ar údarás an Tiarna Íosa.
2 Porque ya sabéis qué mandamientos os dimos por el Señor Jesús.
2 Denn ihr wisset, welche Gebote wir euch gegeben haben durch den HERRN Jesus.
3 For the purpose of God for you is this: that you may be holy, and may keep yourselves from the desires of the flesh;
3 Ce que Dieu veut, c'est votre sanctification; c'est que vous vous absteniez de l'impudicité;

3 Porque la voluntad de Dios es vuestra santificación: que os apartéis de fornicación;
3 Denn das ist der Wille Gottes, eure Heiligung, und daß ihr meidet die Hurerei
4 So that every one of you may keep his body holy and in honour;

5 Not in the passion of evil desires, like the Gentiles, who have no knowledge of God;
5 sans vous livrer à une convoitise passionnée, comme font les païens qui ne connaissent pas Dieu;
5 agus gan a bheith tugtha do na paisin ainrianta ar nós na bpágánach nach bhfuil aon aithne ar Dhia acu;
5 No con afecto de concupiscencia, como los Gentiles que no conocen á Dios:
5 nicht in der Brunst der Lust wie die Heiden, die von Gott nichts wissen;
6 And that no man may make attempts to get the better of his brother in business: for the Lord is the judge in all these things, as we said to you before and gave witness.
6 c'est que personne n'use envers son frère de fraude et de cupidité dans les affaires, parce que le Seigneur tire vengeance de toutes ces choses, comme nous vous l'avons déjà dit et attesté.

6 Que ninguno oprima, ni engañe en nada á su hermano: porque el Señor es vengador de todo esto, como ya os hemos dicho y protestado.
6 und daß niemand zu weit greife und übervorteile seinen Bruder im Handel; denn der HERR ist der Rächer über das alles, wie wir euch zuvor gesagt und bezeugt haben.
7 Because it is God's purpose that our way of life may be not unclean but holy.
7 Car Dieu ne nous a pas appelés à l'impureté, mais à la sanctification.
7 Ní chun na neamhghlaine a ghlaoigh Dia sinn ach chun na naofachta.
7 Porque no nos ha llamado Dios á inmundicia, sino á santificación.
7 Denn Gott hat uns nicht berufen zur Unreinigkeit, sondern zur Heiligung.
8 Whoever, then, goes against this word, goes against not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
8 Celui donc qui rejette ces préceptes ne rejette pas un homme, mais Dieu, qui vous a aussi donné son Saint Esprit.

8 Wer nun verachtet, der verachtet nicht Menschen, sondern Gott, der seinen heiligen Geist gegeben hat in euch.
9 But about loving the brothers, there is no need for me to say anything to you in this letter: for you have the teaching of God that love for one another is right and necessary;
9 Pour ce qui est de l'amour fraternel, vous n'avez pas besoin qu'on vous en écrive; car vous avez vous-mêmes appris de Dieu à vous aimer les uns les autres,

9 Mas acerca de la caridad fraterna no habéis menester que os escriba: porque vosotros mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis los unos á los otros;
9 Von der brüderlichen Liebe aber ist nicht not euch zu schreiben; denn ihr seid selbst von Gott gelehrt, euch untereinander zu lieben.
10 And, truly, you are lovers of all the brothers in Macedonia; but it is our desire that your love may be increased still more;
10 et c'est aussi ce que vous faites envers tous les frères dans la Macédoine entière. Mais nous vous exhortons, frères, à abonder toujours plus dans cet amour,

10 Y también lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia. Empero os rogamos, hermanos, que abundéis más;
10 Und das tut ihr auch an allen Brüdern, die in ganz Mazedonien sind. Wir ermahnen euch aber, liebe Brüder, daß ihr noch völliger werdet
11 And that you may take pride in being quiet and doing your business, working with your hands as we gave you orders;
11 et à mettre votre honneur à vivre tranquilles, à vous occuper de vos propres affaires, et à travailler de vos mains, comme nous vous l'avons recommandé,

11 Y que procuréis tener quietud, y hacer vuestros negocios, y obréis de vuestras manos de la manera que os hemos mandado;
11 und ringet darnach, daß ihr stille seid und das Eure schaffet und arbeitet mit euren eigenen Händen, wie wir euch geboten haben,
12 That you may be respected by those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.
12 en sorte que vous vous conduisiez honnêtement envers ceux du dehors, et que vous n'ayez besoin de personne.

12 A fin de que andéis honestamente para con los extraños, y no necesitéis de nada.
12 auf daß ihr ehrbar wandelt gegen die, die draußen sind, und ihrer keines bedürfet.
13 But it is our desire, brothers, that you may be certain about those who are sleeping; so that you may have no need for sorrow, as others have who are without hope.
13 Nous ne voulons pas, frères, que vous soyez dans l'ignorance au sujet de ceux qui dorment, afin que vous ne vous affligiez pas comme les autres qui n'ont point d'espérance.
13 Níor mhaith liom, a bhráithre, go mbeadh sibh aineolach i dtaobh na marbh i dtreo nach mbeadh sibh dobrónach ar nós na ndaoine eile atá gan aon dóchas.
13 Tampoco, hermanos, queremos que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, que no os entristezcáis como los otros que no tienen esperanza.
13 Wir wollen euch aber, liebe Brüder, nicht verhalten von denen, die da schlafen, auf daß ihr nicht traurig seid wie die andern, die keine Hoffnung haben.
14 For if we have faith that Jesus underwent death and came back again, even so those who are sleeping will come again with him by God's power.
14 Car, si nous croyons que Jésus est mort et qu'il est ressuscité, croyons aussi que Dieu ramènera par Jésus et avec lui ceux qui sont morts.
14 Creidimid go bhfuair Íosa bás agus gur aiséirigh sé; ar an gcuma chéanna an mhuintir a fuair bás i bpáirt le Críost, tabharfaidh Dia iad siúd leis ón mbas chomh maith.
14 Porque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también traerá Dios con él á los que durmieron en Jesús.
14 Denn so wir glauben, daß Jesus gestorben und auferstanden ist, also wird Gott auch, die da entschlafen sind, durch Jesum mit ihm führen.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are still living at the coming of the Lord, will not go before those who are sleeping.
15 Voici, en effet, ce que nous vous déclarons d'après la parole du Seigneur: nous les vivants, restés pour l'avènement du Seigneur, nous ne devancerons pas ceux qui sont morts.
15 Agus tá an méid seo le rá againn libh ar fhocal an Tiarna féin: an méid a fhágfar beo dínn go dtí teacht an Tiarna, ní bheidh aon bhuntáiste againn orthu sin a bheidh tar éis bháis:
15 Por lo cual, os decimos esto en palabra del Señor: que nosotros que vivimos, que habremos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, no seremos delanteros á los que durmieron.
15 Denn das sagen wir euch als ein Wort des HERRN, daß wir, die wir leben und übrig bleiben auf die Zukunft des HERRN, werden denen nicht zuvorkommen, die da schlafen.
16 Because the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a word of authority, with the voice of the chief angel, with the sound of a horn: and the dead in Christ will come to life first;
16 Car le Seigneur lui-même, à un signal donné, à la voix d'un archange, et au son de la trompette de Dieu, descendra du ciel, et les morts en Christ ressusciteront premièrement.
16 mar nuair a thabharfar an fógra le glór an ardaingil agus le trumpa Dé, tiocfaidh an Tiarna féin anuas ó neamh agus ar dtús éireoidh na mairbh i gCríost.
16 Porque el mismo Señor con aclamación, con voz de arcángel, y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo; y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero:
16 denn er selbst, der HERR, wird mit einem Feldgeschrei und der Stimme des Erzengels und mit der Posaune Gottes herniederkommen vom Himmel, und die Toten in Christo werden auferstehen zuerst.
17 Then we who are still living will be taken up together with them into the clouds to see the Lord in the air: and so will we be for ever with the Lord.
17 Ensuite, nous les vivants, qui seront restés, nous serons tous ensemble enlevés avec eux sur des nuées, à la rencontre du Seigneur dans les airs, et ainsi nous serons toujours avec le Seigneur.
17 Ansin an méid a bheidh fágtha beo dínn, ardófar chun siúil sinn mar aon leo trí na néalta in airicis an Tiarna sa spéir, agus ar an gcuma sin beimid i dteannta an Tiarna go deo.
17 Luego nosotros, los que vivimos, los que quedamos, juntamente con ellos seremos arrebatados en las nubes á recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.
17 Darnach wir, die wir leben und übrig bleiben, werden zugleich mit ihnen hingerückt werden in den Wolken, dem HERRN entgegen in der Luft, und werden also bei dem HERRN sein allezeit.
18 So then, give comfort to one another with these words.
18 Consolez-vous donc les uns les autres par ces paroles.
