Ephesians 5

1 Children, do what is ordered by your fathers and mothers in the Lord: for this is right.

1 A leanaí, bígí umhal do bhur dtuismitheoirí, sa Tiarna, mar is é an ceart é.

2 Give honour to your father and mother (which is the first rule having a reward),

2 “Tabhair do d'athair agus do do mháthair onóir”; sin í an chéad aithne a bhfuil gealltanas ag dul léi:

3 So that all may be well for you, and your life may be long on the earth.

3 “ionas go mbeadh an rath ort agus go mbeadh saol fada ar talamh agat.”

4 And, you fathers, do not make your children angry: but give them training in the teaching and fear of the Lord.

4 Agus sibhse, a aithreacha, ná déanaigí bhur leanaí a chiapadh, ach iad a thógáil faoi oiliúint agus smacht an Tiarna. Máistrí agus Seirbhísigh

4 Y vosotros, padres, no provoquéis á ira á vuestros hijos; sino fhhijos; sino fh amonestación del Señor.

5 Servants, do what is ordered by those who are your natural masters, having respect and fear for them, with all your heart, as to Christ;

5 A sheirbhíseacha, bígí umhal ómósach do bhur máistrí saolta le dílseacht chroí mar a bheadh sibh do Chríost féin,

5 Siervos, obedeced á vuestros amos según la carne con temor y temblor, con sencillez de vuestro corazón, como á Cristo;

5 Ihr Knechte, seid gehorsam euren leiblichen Herren mit Furcht und Zittern, in Einfalt eures Herzens, als Christo;

6 Not only under your master's eye, as pleasers of men; but as servants of Christ, doing the pleasure of God from the heart;

6 agus gan bheith ag súilseirbhís ar nós lucht lútála ach sibh ag déanamh toil Dé ó chroí mar a dhéanfadh seirbhísigh Chríost.

6 No sirviendo al ojo, como los que agradan á los hombres; sino como siervos de Cristo, haciendo de ánimo la voluntad de Dios;

7 Doing your work readily, as to the Lord, and not to men:

7 Déanaigí bhur ndualgas le fonn amhail agus dá mba don Tiarna a bheadh sibh ag seirbhís agus nach do dhaoine,

7 Sirviendo con buena voluntad, como al Señor, y no á los hombres;

8 In the knowledge that for every good thing anyone does, he will have his reward from the Lord, If he is a servant or if he is free.

8 agus a fhios agaibh, cibé ní fónta a dhéanann sibh, go bhfaighidh gach duine, saor nó daor, a chúiteamh ón Tiarna.

9 And, you masters, do the same things to them, not making use of violent words: in the knowledge that their Master and yours is in heaven, and he has no respect for a man's position.

9 Agus sibhse, a mháistrí, déanaigíse mar an gcéanna dóibh; caithigí uaibh an bhagairt agus bíodh a fhios agaibh go bhfuil an Máistir céanna agaibhse agus acusan ar neamh agus gur cuma leis siúd duine seachas a chéile An Cath in aghaidh an Oilc

10 Lastly, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his power.

10 Au reste, fortifiez-vous dans le Seigneur, et par sa force toute-puissante.

10 Mar bhuille scoir, téigí i neart sa Tiarna le fuinneamh a chumhachta.

11 Take up God's instruments of war, so that you may be able to keep your position against all the deceits of the Evil One.

11 Cuirigí iomaibh cathéide Dé chun bheith in ann seasamh in aghaidh chealga an diabhail.

12 For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against authorities and powers, against the world-rulers of this dark night, against the spirits of evil in the heavens.

13 For this reason take up all the arms of God, so that you may be able to be strong in the evil day, and, having done all, to keep your place.

13 Gabhaigí cathéide Dé chugaibh, dá bhrí sin, i dtreo nuair a thiocfaidh lá an oilc, go bhféadfaidh sibh an fód a sheasamh, agus go mbeidh sibh fós in bhur seasamh tar éis daoibh an cath a bhaint ar an iomlán.

14 Take your place, then, having your body clothed with the true word, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness;

14 Tenez donc ferme: ayez à vos reins la vérité pour ceinture; revêtez la cuirasse de la justice;

14 Seasaigí go daingean, dá bhrí sin, agus an fhírinne fáiscthe faoi bhur gcoim agaibh mar chrios, an fhíréantacht mar lúireach ar bhur n‑ucht

15 Be ready with the good news of peace as shoes on your feet;

15 mettez pour chaussure à vos pieds le zèle que donne l'Évangile de paix;

15 agus fonn leata dea-scéal na síochána mar bhróga ar bhur gcosa agaibh.

15 Y calzados los pies con el apresto del evangelio de paz;

16 And most of all, using faith as a cover to keep off all the flaming arrows of the Evil One.

16 prenez par-dessus tout cela le bouclier de la foi, avec lequel vous pourrez éteindre tous les traits enflammés du malin;

16 Gabhaigí chugaibh i gcónaí an creideamh mar sciath lena bhféadfaidh sibh gach diúracán dearg de chuid an namhad mhallaithe a mhúchadh.

16 Vor allen Dingen aber ergreifet den Schild des Glaubens, mit welchem ihr auslöschen könnt alle feurigen Pfeile des Bösewichtes;

17 And take salvation for your head-dress and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

17 Glacaigí an slánú mar chlogad agus briathar Dé mar chlaíomh ón Spiorad.

17 Y tomad el yelmo de salud, y la espada del Espíritu; que es la palabra de Dios;

18 With prayers and deep desires, making requests at all times in the Spirit, and keeping watch, with strong purpose, in prayer for all the saints,

Fanaigí in bhur ndúiseacht chuige sin ag guí go buanseasmhach ar na naoimh uile.

19 And for me, that words may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make clear without fear the secret of the good news,

19 Agus guígí ormsa chomh maith, le hionchas, nuair a osclóidh mé mo bhéal, go dtabharfar dom labhairt go dána agus rún an dea-scéil a fhógairt -

20 For which I am a representative in chains, and that I may say without fear the things which it is right for me to say.

20 an dea-scéal a bhfuilimse i mo thoscaire air agus mé faoi ghlas féin; guígí go ndéanfaidh mé é a fhógairt chomh dána agus is cóir.

21 But so that you may have knowledge of my business, and how I am, Tychicus, the well-loved brother and tested servant in the Lord, will give you news of all things:

21 Tabharfaidh Tichiceas, mo chara ionúin agus mo chúntóir dílis in obair an Tiarna, faisnéis iomlán daoibh fúmsa ionas go mbeidh a fhios agaibh conas táim agus conas atá ag éirí liom.

22 Whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, so that you may have knowledge of our position, and that he may give comfort to your hearts.

22 Táim á sheoladh chugaibh d'aon ghnó chun fios mo chúrsaí a bheith agaibh agus chun sólás a chur ar bhur gcroí.

23 Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

23 Go dtuga Dia an tAthair agus an Tiarna Íosa Críost síocháin agus grá mar aon le creideamh do na bráithre uile.

24 Grace be with all those who have true love for our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 Go raibh grásta ar chách a bheir grá buanmharthanach dár dTiarna Íosa Críost.

Amen.
