1 But there is no need for me to say anything in my letter about the giving to the saints:

2 For I have before made clear to those of Macedonia my pride in your ready mind, saying to them that Achaia has been ready for a year back; and a great number have been moved to do the same by your example.
2 Je connais, en effet, votre bonne volonté, dont je me glorifie pour vous auprès des Macédoniens, en déclarant que l'Achaïe est prête depuis l'année dernière; et ce zèle de votre part a stimulé le plus grand nombre.

2 Pues conozco vuestro pronto ánimo, del cual me glorío yo entre los de Macedonia, que Acaya está apercibida desde el año pasado; y vuestro ejemplo ha estimulado á muchos.
2 Denn ich weiß euren guten Willen, davon ich rühme bei denen aus Mazedonien und sage: Achaja ist schon voriges Jahr bereit gewesen; und euer Beispiel hat viele gereizt.
3 But I have sent the brothers, so that the good things we said about you may be seen to be true, and that, as I said, you may be ready:
3 J'envoie les frères, afin que l'éloge que nous avons fait de vous ne soit pas réduit à néant sur ce point-là, et que vous soyez prêts, comme je l'ai dit.
3 Ach ar eagla nach mbeadh i mo chuid mórtais sa chás seo ach caint dhíomhaoin, táim ag seoladh na mbráithre chugaibh i dtreo go mbeidh sibh ullamh faoi mar a dúirt mé.
3 Mas he enviado los hermanos, porque nuestra gloria de vosotros no sea vana en esta parte; para que, como lo he dicho, estéis apercibidos;
3 Ich habe aber diese Brüder darum gesandt, daß nicht unser Rühmen von euch zunichte würde in dem Stücke, und daß ihr bereit seid, gleichwie ich von euch gesagt habe;
4 For fear that, if any from Macedonia come with me, and you are not ready, we (not to say, you) might be put to shame in this thing.
4 Je ne voudrais pas, si les Macédoniens m'accompagnent et ne vous trouvent pas prêts, que cette assurance tournât à notre confusion, pour ne pas dire à la vôtre.

4 No sea que, si vinieren conmigo Macedonios, y os hallaren desapercibidos, nos avergoncemos nosotros, por no decir vosotros, de este firme gloriarnos.
4 auf daß nicht, so die aus Mazedonien mit mir kämen und euch unbereit fänden, wir (will nicht sagen: ihr) zu Schanden würden mit solchem Rühmen.
5 So it seemed to me wise for the brothers to go before, and see that the amount which you had undertaken to give was ready, so that it might be a cause for praise, and not as if we were making profit out of you.
5 J'ai donc jugé nécessaire d'inviter les frères à se rendre auparavant chez vous, et à s'occuper de votre libéralité déjà promise, afin qu'elle soit prête, de manière à être une libéralité, et non un acte d'avarice.

5 Por tanto, tuve por cosa necesaria exhortar á los hermanos que fuesen primero á vosotros, y apresten primero vuestra bendición antes prometida para que esté aparejada como de bendición, y no como de mezquindad.
5 So habe ich es nun für nötig angesehen, die Brüder zu ermahnen, daß sie voranzögen zu euch, fertigzumachen diesen zuvor verheißenen Segen, daß er bereit sei, also daß es sei ein Segen und nicht ein Geiz.
6 But in the Writings it says, He who puts in only a small number of seeds, will get in the same; and he who puts them in from a full hand, will have produce in full measure from them.
6 Sachez-le, celui qui sème peu moissonnera peu, et celui qui sème abondamment moissonnera abondamment.

7 Let every man do after the purpose of his heart; not giving with grief, or by force: for God takes pleasure in a ready giver.
7 Que chacun donne comme il l'a résolu en son coeur, sans tristesse ni contrainte; car Dieu aime celui qui donne avec joie.

7 Ein jeglicher nach seiner Willkür, nicht mit Unwillen oder aus Zwang; denn einen fröhlichen Geber hat Gott lieb.
8 And God is able to give you all grace in full measure; so that ever having enough of all things, you may be full of every good work:
8 Et Dieu peut vous combler de toutes sortes de grâces, afin que, possédant toujours en toutes choses de quoi satisfaire à tous vos besoins, vous ayez encore en abondance pour toute bonne oeuvre,

9 As it is said in the Writings, He has sent out far and wide, he has given to the poor; his righteousness is for ever.

10 And he who gives seed for putting into the field and bread for food, will take care of the growth of your seed, at the same time increasing the fruits of your righteousness;
10 Celui qui Fournit de la semence au semeur, Et du pain pour sa nourriture, vous fournira et vous multipliera la semence, et il augmentera les fruits de votre justice.
10 An té úd a sholáthraíonn síol don síoladóir agus a thugann arán le hithe, soláthróidh sé an síol daoibhse chomh maith; méadóidh sé an síol agus iomadóidh sé torthaí bhur bhfíréantachta.
10 Y el que da simiente al que siembra, también dará pan para comer, y multiplicará vuestra sementera, y aumentará los crecimientos de los frutos de vuestra justicia;
10 Der aber Samen reicht dem Säemann, der wird auch das Brot reichen zur Speise und wird vermehren euren Samen und wachsen lassen das Gewächs eurer Gerechtigkeit,
11 Your wealth being increased in everything, with a simple mind, causing praise to God through us.
11 Vous serez de la sorte enrichis à tous égards pour toute espèce de libéralités qui, par notre moyen, feront offrir à Dieu des actions de grâces.
11 Beidh sibh saibhir bhur ndóthain i gcónaí chun bheith fial le cách agus beidh ár mbuíochas dá bharr sin ar Dhia.
11 Para que estéis enriquecidos en todo para toda bondad, la cual obra por nosotros hacimiento de gracias á Dios.
11 daß ihr reich seid in allen Dingen mit aller Einfalt, welche wirkt durch uns Danksagung Gott.
12 For this work of giving not only takes care of the needs of the saints, but is the cause of much praise to God;
12 Car le secours de cette assistance non seulement pourvoit aux besoins des saints, mais il est encore une source abondante de nombreuses actions de grâces envers Dieu.
12 Mar an tseirbhís naofa seo atá idir lámha againn, ní hé amháin go bhfuil sí ag soláthar riar a gcáis do na naoimh ach tá rabharta buíochais á thuilleamh chomh maith aici do Dhia.
12 Porque la suministración de este servicio, no solamente suple lo que á los santos falta, sino también abunda en muchos hacimientos de gracias á Dios:
12 Denn die Handreichung dieser Steuer erfüllt nicht allein den Mangel der Heiligen, sondern ist auch überschwenglich darin, daß viele Gott danken für diesen unsern treuen Dienst
13 For when, through this work of giving, they see what you are, they give glory to God for the way in which you have given yourselves to the good news of Christ, and for the wealth of your giving to them and to all;
13 En considération de ce secours dont ils font l'expérience, ils glorifient Dieu de votre obéissance dans la profession de l'Évangile de Christ, et de la libéralité de vos dons envers eux et envers tous;
13 De bharr na seirbhíse profa seo beidh siad ag moladh Dé as bhur n‑umhlaíocht ag admháil dea-scéal Chríost agus as an bhflaithiúlacht lenar roinn sibh bhur gcuid orthu féin agus ar chách eile.
13 Que por la experiencia de esta suministración glorifican á Dios por la obediencia que profesáis al evangelio de Cristo, y por la bondad de contribuir para ellos y para todos;
13 und preisen Gott über euer untertäniges Bekenntnis des Evangeliums Christi und über eure einfältige Steuer an sie und an alle,
14 While their hearts go out to you in love and in prayer for you, because of the great grace of God which is in you.
14 ils prient pour vous, parce qu'ils vous aiment à cause de la grâce éminente que Dieu vous a faite.
14 Agus beidh siad ag guí oraibh go geanúil de bharr an ghrásta as cuimse a bhronn Dia oraibh.
14 Asimismo por la oración de ellos á favor vuestro, los cuales os quieren á causa de la eminente gracia de Dios en vosotros.
14 indem auch sie nach euch verlangt im Gebet für euch um der überschwenglichen Gnade Gottes willen in euch.
15 Praise be to God for what he has given, which words have no power to say.
15 Grâces soient rendues à Dieu pour son don ineffable!
