Romans 9

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is, that they may get salvation.

1 Go deimhin, a bhráithre, is é mian mo chroí é agus mo ghuí chun Dé orthu go slánófaí iad.

2 For I give witness of them that they have a strong desire for God, but not with knowledge.

2 Tugaim fianaise orthu go bhfuil díograis acu do Dhia ach nach díograis dea-eolais é.

3 Because, not having knowledge of God's righteousness, and desiring to give effect to their righteousness, they have not put themselves under the righteousness of God.

3 ne connaissant pas la justice de Dieu, et cherchant à établir leur propre justice, ils ne se sont pas soumis à la justice de Dieu;

3 Mar nuair nár aithin siad fíréantacht Dé ach iad ag iarraidh a bhfíréantacht féin a bhunú, níor ghéill siad d'fhíréantacht Dé.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who has faith.

4 Mar is é Críost buaic an dlí chun fíréantachta don uile dhuine a chreideann ann.

5 For Moses says that the man who does the righteousness which is of the law will get life by it.

5 Is é a scríobhann Maois faoin bhfíréantacht a thagann ón dlí: “An té a choimhlíonann í, mairfidh sé inti.”

6 But the righteousness which is of faith says these words, Say not in your heart, Who will go up to heaven? (that is, to make Christ come down:)

6 Mais voici comment parle la justice qui vient de la foi: Ne dis pas en ton coeur: Qui montera au ciel? c'est en faire descendre Christ;

6 Ach is é a deir an fhíréantacht a thagann ó chreideamh: Ná habair leat féin: “Cé a rachaidh suas ar neamh?” [is é sin le rá chun Críost a thabhairt anuas];

6 Aber die Gerechtigkeit aus dem Glauben spricht also: "Sprich nicht in deinem Herzen: Wer will hinauf gen Himmel fahren?" (Das ist nichts anderes denn Christum herabholen.)

7 Or, Who will go down into the deep? (that is, to make Christ come again from the dead:)

8 But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart: that is, the word of faith of which we are the preachers:

8 Ach cad a deir sé? “Tá an briathar i ngar duit, i do bhéal agus i do chroí” [is é sin le rá briathar an chreidimh atáimidne a fhógairt].

9 Because, if you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and have faith in your heart that God has made him come back from the dead, you will have salvation:

9 Mar má adhmhaíonn tú ó do bhéal gurb é Íosa an Tiarna agus má chreideann tú ó do chroí gur thóg Dia ó mbairbh é, slánófar thú.

10 For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation.

10 Is sa chroí a bhíonn an creideamh a fhíréanaíonn agus sa bhéal a bhíonn an admháil a shlánaíonn.

11 Because it is said in the holy Writings, Whoever has faith in him will not be shamed.

11 Agus deir an scrioptúr: “Gach aon duine a chreideann ann ní bheidh díomá air.”

12 And the Jew is not different from the Greek: for there is the same Lord of all, who is good to all who have hope in his name:

12 Mar níl aon dealú idir Giúdach agus Gréagach mar is é an t‑aon Tiarna amháin atá orthu go léir agus caitheann sé go flaithiúil lena nglaonn air,

13 Because, Whoever will give worship to the name of the Lord will get salvation.

13 “mar gach aon duine a ghlaofaidh ar ainm an Tiarna, slánófar é.”

14 But how will they give worship to him in whom they have no faith? and how will they have faith in him of whom they have not had news? and how will they have news without a preacher?

14 Ach conas a ghlaofaidís ar an té nár chreid siad ann?

15 And how will there be preachers if they are not sent? As it is said, How beautiful are the feet of those who give the glad news of good things.

15 Agus conas a dhéanfadh daoine é a fhógairt mura gcuirtear amach iad chuige sin? Mar atá scríofa: “Nach álainn iad cosa lucht fógartha an dea-scéil.”

15 ¿Y cómo predicarán si no fueren enviados?

16 But they have not all given ear to the good news. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has had faith in our word?

16 Ach ní gach aon duine a ghéill don dea-scéal, de réir mar a deir Íseáia: “A Thiarna, cé a chreid ár dteagasc?”

Denn Jesaja sagt: "HERR, wer glaubt unserm Predigen?"

17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

17 Is ó theagasc a thagann an creideamh, mar sin, agus is trí sheanmóireacht Chríost a thagann an teagasc féin.

18 But I say, Did not the word come to their ears? Yes, certainly: Their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

18 Ach ceist agam: An é nár chuala siad an scéala? Chuala go deimhin mar “chuaigh a nglór amach ar fud an domhain go léir agus a mbriathra go himill na cruinne.”

19 But I say, Had Israel no knowledge? First Moses says, You will be moved to envy by that which is not a nation, and by a foolish people I will make you angry.

19 Ceist eile agam: An amhlaidh nár thuig Iosrael an scéal? Ar an gcéad ásc dúirt Maois: “Cuirfidh mé in éad sibh le dream nach pobal agus cuirfidh mé i bhfeirg sibh le cine gan chiall.”

20 And Isaiah says without fear, Those who were not searching for me made discovery of me; and I was seen by those whose hearts were turned away from me.

20 Et Ésaïe pousse la hardiesse jusqu'à dire: J'ai été trouvé par ceux qui ne me cherchaient pas, Je me suis manifesté à ceux qui ne me demandaient pas.

20 Agus téann Íseáia chomh fada lena rá: “An mhuintir nach raibh do mo lorg, is iad a fuair mé. Agus an mhuintir nach raibh do m'fhiafraí, is dóibh a d'fhoilsigh mé mé féin.”

21 But about Israel he says; All the day my hands have been stretched out to a people whose hearts were turned away, and who put themselves against my word.

21 Ach is é a deir sé faoi Iosrael: “Shíneas mo lámha ar feadh an lae chun pobail atá easumhal ceanndána.”
