1 Is it not clear, my brothers (I am using an argument to those who have knowledge of the law), that the law has power over a man as long as he is living?
1 Ignorez-vous, frères, -car je parle à des gens qui connaissent la loi, -que la loi exerce son pouvoir sur l'homme aussi longtemps qu'il vit?
1 Nach bhfuil a fhios agaibh, a bhráithre - ag caint atáim le daoine atá eolach ar chúrsaí dlí - nach mbíonn duine faoi smacht an dlí ach fad is beo dó.
1 ¿IGNORAIS, hermanos, (porque hablo con los que saben la ley) que la ley se enseñorea del hombre entre tanto que vive?
1 Wisset ihr nicht, liebe Brüder (denn ich rede mit solchen, die das Gesetz wissen), daß das Gesetz herrscht über den Menschen solange er lebt?
2 For the woman who has a husband is placed by the law under the power of her husband as long as he is living; but if her husband is dead, she is free from the law of the husband.
2 Ainsi, une femme mariée est liée par la loi à son mari tant qu'il est vivant; mais si le mari meurt, elle est dégagée de la loi qui la liait à son mari.
2 An bhean phósta, cuir i gcás, bíonn sí ceangailte ag an dlí dá fear céile fad a mhaireann sé; ach má chailltear a fear bíonn sí saor ó dhlí a fir.
2 Porque la mujer que está sujeta á marido, mientras el marido vive está obligada á la ley; mas muerto el marido, libre es de la ley del marido.
2 Denn ein Weib, das unter dem Manne ist, ist an ihn gebunden durch das Gesetz, solange der Mann lebt; so aber der Mann stirbt, so ist sie los vom Gesetz, das den Mann betrifft.
3 So if, while the husband is living, she is joined to another man, she will get the name of one who is untrue to her husband: but if the husband is dead, she is free from the law, so that she is not untrue, even if she takes another man.
3 Si donc, du vivant de son mari, elle devient la femme d'un autre homme, elle sera appelée adultère; mais si le mari meurt, elle est affranchie de la loi, de sorte qu'elle n'est point adultère en devenant la femme d'un autre.
3 Má ghabhann sí le fear eile, mar sin, fad is beo dá fear céile glaofar adhaltrach uirthi; ach má chailltear a fear bíonn sí saor ón dlí, sa tslí nach adhaltrach í má ghabhann sí leis an bhfear eile.
3 Así que, viviendo el marido, se llamará adúltera si fuere de otro varón; mas si su marido muriere, es libre de la ley; de tal manera que no será adúltera si fuere de otro marido.
3 Wo sie nun eines andern Mannes wird, solange der Mann lebt, wird sie eine Ehebrecherin geheißen; so aber der Mann stirbt, ist sie frei vom Gesetz, daß sie nicht eine Ehebrecherin ist, wo sie eines andern Mannes wird.
4 In the same way, my brothers, you were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, even to him who came again from the dead, so that we might give fruit to God.
4 De même, mes frères, vous aussi vous avez été, par le corps de Christ, mis à mort en ce qui concerne la loi, pour que vous apparteniez à un autre, à celui qui est ressuscité des morts, afin que nous portions des fruits pour Dieu.
4 Is é an dála céanna agaibhse é, a bhráithre; fuair sibh bás mar leis an dlí trí chorp Chríost, chun go ngabhfadh sibh le fear céile eile, leis an té úd a tógadh ó mhairbh, agus gur do Dhia a thabharfaimis toradh.
4 Así también vosotros, hermanos míos, estáis muertos á la ley por el cuerpo de Cristo, para que seáis de otro, á saber, del que resucitó de los muertos, á fin de que fructifiquemos á Dios.
4 Also seid auch ihr, meine Brüder, getötet dem Gesetz durch den Leib Christi, daß ihr eines andern seid, nämlich des, der von den Toten auferweckt ist, auf daß wir Gott Frucht bringen.
5 For when we were in the flesh, the evil passions which came into being through the law were working in our bodies to give the fruit of death.
5 Car, lorsque nous étions dans la chair, les passions des péchés provoquées par la loi agissaient dans nos membres, de sorte que nous portions des fruits pour la mort.
5 Mar fad a mhaireamar sa cholainn, bhíodh na hainmhianta peacúla úd a bhíonn á gcothú ag an dlí go gníomhach inár mbaill bheatha ag tabhairt toraidh don bhás.
5 Porque mientras estábamos en la carne, los afectos de los pecados que eran por la ley, obraban en nuestros miembros fructificando para muerte.
5 Denn da wir im Fleisch waren, da waren die sündigen Lüste, welche durchs Gesetz sich erregten, kräftig in unsern Gliedern, dem Tode Frucht zu bringen.
6 But now we are free from the law, having been made dead to that which had power over us; so that we are servants in the new way of the spirit, not in the old way of the letter.
6 Mais maintenant, nous avons été dégagés de la loi, étant morts à cette loi sous laquelle nous étions retenus, de sorte que nous servons dans un esprit nouveau, et non selon la lettre qui a vieilli.
6 Anois, áfach, ó tá bás faighte againn ó thaobh an ní úd a bhí dár gcoinneáil i ngéibheann, táimid fuascailte ón dlí chun seirbhís a dhéanamh faoi chóras nua an spioraid in ionad faoi sheanchóras an chóid scríofa. An Dlí agus an Peaca
6 Mas ahora estamos libres de la ley, habiendo muerto á aquella en la cual estábamos detenidos, para que sirvamos en novedad de espíritu, y no en vejez de letra.
6 Nun aber sind wir vom Gesetz los und ihm abgestorben, das uns gefangenhielt, also daß wir dienen sollen im neuen Wesen des Geistes und nicht im alten Wesen des Buchstabens.
7 What then is to be said? is the law sin? in no way. But I would not have had knowledge of sin but for the law: for I would not have been conscious of desire if the law had not said, You may not have a desire for what is another's.
7 Que dirons-nous donc? La loi est-elle péché? Loin de là! Mais je n'ai connu le péché que par la loi. Car je n'aurais pas connu la convoitise, si la loi n'eût dit: Tu ne convoiteras point.
7 Cad a déarfaimid mar sin? Gur peaca é an dlí? Ní hea ar chor ar bith. Mar sin féin ní chuirfinnse eolas ar an bpeaca murach an dlí. Ní thuigfinn cad is saint ann, ach gur dhúirt an dlí “ná santaigh”.
7 ¿Qué pues diremos? ¿La ley es pecado? En ninguna manera. Empero yo no conocí el pecado sino por la ley: porque tampoco conociera la concupiscencia, si la ley no dijera: No codiciarás.
7 Was wollen wir denn nun sagen? Ist das Gesetz Sünde? Das sei ferne! Aber die Sünde erkannte ich nicht, außer durchs Gesetz. Denn ich wußte nichts von der Lust, wo das Gesetz nicht hätte gesagt: "Laß dich nicht gelüsten!"
8 But sin, taking its chance through that which was ordered by the law, was working in me every form of desire: because without the law sin is dead.
8 Et le péché, saisissant l'occasion, produisit en moi par le commandement toutes sortes de convoitises; car sans loi le péché est mort.
8 Ach rug an peaca ar an bhfaill agus trí bhíthin na haithne sin d'oibrigh gach cineál saint ionam; mar in éagmais an dlí bíonn an peaca gan bhrí.
8 Mas el pecado, tomando ocasión, obró en mí por el mandamiento toda concupiscencia: porque sin la ley el pecado está muerto.
8 Da nahm aber die Sünde Ursache am Gebot und erregte in mir allerlei Lust; denn ohne das Gesetz war die Sünde tot.
9 And there was a time when I was living without the law: but when the law gave its orders, sin came to life and put me to death;
9 Pour moi, étant autrefois sans loi, je vivais; mais quand le commandement vint, le péché reprit vie, et moi je mourus.
9 Lá den saol, in éagmais an dlí, bhí mise beo; ach ar theacht don aithne, bheoigh an peaca
9 Así que, yo sin la ley vivía por algún tiempo: mas venido el mandamiento, el pecado revivió, y yo morí.
9 Ich aber lebte weiland ohne Gesetz; da aber das Gebot kam, ward die Sünde wieder lebendig,
10 And I made the discovery that the law whose purpose was to give life had become a cause of death:
10 Ainsi, le commandement qui conduit à la vie se trouva pour moi conduire à la mort.
10 agus fuair mise bás. An aithne úd a ceapadh le bheith ina cúis bheatha dom is ina cúis bháis a bhí sí,
10 Y hallé que el mandamiento, á intimado para vida, para mí era mortal:
10 ich aber starb; und es fand sich, daß das Gebot mir zum Tode gereichte, das mir doch zum Leben gegeben war.
11 For I was tricked and put to death by sin, which took its chance through the law.
11 Car le péché saisissant l'occasion, me séduisit par le commandement, et par lui me fit mourir.
11 mar gur rug an peaca ar an bhfaill agus trí bhíthin na haithne mheall agus mharaigh sé mé tríthi.
11 Porque el pecado, tomando ocasión, me engañó por el mandamiento, y por él me mató.
11 Denn die Sünde nahm Ursache am Gebot und betrog mich und tötete mich durch dasselbe Gebot.
12 But the law is holy, and its orders are holy, upright, and good.
12 La loi donc est sainte, et le commandement est saint, juste et bon.
12 Más ea, is rud naofa é an dlí agus is rud naofa í an aithne, rud cóir maith.
12 De manera que la ley á la verdad es santa, y el mandamiento santo, y justo, y bueno.
12 Das Gesetz ist ja heilig, und das Gebot ist heilig, recht und gut.
13 Was then that which is good, death to me? In no way. But the purpose was that sin might be seen to be sin by working death to me through that which is good; so that through the orders of the law sin might seem much more evil.
13 Ce qui est bon a-t-il donc été pour moi une cause de mort? Loin de là! Mais c'est le péché, afin qu'il se manifestât comme péché en me donnant la mort par ce qui est bon, et que, par le commandement, il devînt condamnable au plus haut point.
13 An raibh rud maith ina chúis bháis dom, mar sin? Ní raibh ar chor ar bith, ach an peaca, i dtreo go mba léir gur peaca é dáiríre, bhain sé feidhm as rud maith chun bás a imirt orm; agus sa tslí sin trí bhíthin na haithne, go n‑éireodh an peaca peacúil thar na bearta. An Choimhlint Chráite
13 ¿Luego lo que es bueno, á mí me es hecho muerte? No; sino que el pecado, para mostrarse pecado, por lo bueno me obró la muerte, haciéndose pecado sobremanera pecante por el mandamiento.
13 Ist denn, das da gut ist, mir zum Tod geworden? Das sei ferne! Aber die Sünde, auf daß sie erscheine, wie sie Sünde ist, hat sie mir durch das Gute den Tod gewirkt, auf daß die Sünde würde überaus sündig durchs Gebot.
14 For we are conscious that the law is of the spirit; but I am of the flesh, given into the power of sin.
14 Nous savons, en effet, que la loi est spirituelle; mais moi, je suis charnel, vendu au péché.
14 Tá a fhios againn gur rud spioradálta é an dlí; táimse collaí, áfach, agus díolta leis an bpeaca.
14 Porque sabemos que la ley es espiritual; mas yo soy carnal, vendido á sujeción del pecado.
14 Denn wir wissen, daß das Gesetz geistlich ist; ich bin aber fleischlich, unter die Sünde verkauft.
15 And I have no clear knowledge of what I am doing, for that which I have a mind to do, I do not, but what I have hate for, that I do.
15 Car je ne sais pas ce que je fais: je ne fais point ce que je veux, et je fais ce que je hais.
15 Go deimhin ní thuigim mo chuid iompair féin, mar ní hé an ní is áil liom a dhéanaim, ach an ní is fuath liom, is é a bhíonn ar siúl agam.
15 Porque lo que hago, no lo entiendo; ni lo que quiero, hago; antes lo que aborrezco, aquello hago.
15 Denn ich weiß nicht, was ich tue. Denn ich tue nicht, was ich will; sondern, was ich hasse, das tue ich.
16 But, if I do that which I have no mind to do, I am in agreement with the law that the law is good.
16 Or, si je fais ce que je ne veux pas, je reconnais par là que la loi est bonne.
16 Ach más é an ní nach áil liom a dhéanaim aontaím dá réir go bhfuil an dlí go fónta.
16 Y si lo que no quiero, esto hago, apruebo que la ley es buena.
16 So ich aber das tue, was ich nicht will, so gebe ich zu, daß das Gesetz gut sei.
17 So it is no longer I who do it, but the sin living in me.
17 Et maintenant ce n'est plus moi qui le fais, mais c'est le péché qui habite en moi.
17 Go deimhin féin ní mise a chuireann an beart i gcrích feasta ach an peaca atá lonnaithe ionam.
17 De manera que ya no obro aquello, sino el pecado que mora en mí.
17 So tue ich nun dasselbe nicht, sondern die Sünde, die in mir wohnt.
18 For I am conscious that in me, that is, in my flesh, there is nothing good: I have the mind but not the power to do what is right.
18 Ce qui est bon, je le sais, n'habite pas en moi, c'est-à-dire dans ma chair: j'ai la volonté, mais non le pouvoir de faire le bien.
18 Tá a fhios agam nach aon ní ar fónamh atá lonnaithe ionam, is é sin le rá sa chuid chollaí díom, mar bíonn fonn an dea- ghnímh orm ach ní bhfaighim ionam é a chur i gcrích.
18 Y yo sé que en mí (es á saber, en mi carne) no mora el bien: porque tengo el querer, mas efectuar el bien no lo alcanzo.
18 Denn ich weiß, daß in mir, das ist in meinem Fleische, wohnt nichts Gutes. Wollen habe ich wohl, aber vollbringen das Gute finde ich nicht.
19 For the good which I have a mind to do, I do not: but the evil which I have no mind to do, that I do.
19 Car je ne fais pas le bien que je veux, et je fais le mal que je ne veux pas.
19 An mhaith is áil liom ní dhéanaim í, ach an t‑olc nach áil liom is é a dhéanaim.
19 Porque no hago el bien que quiero; mas el mal que no quiero, éste hago.
19 Denn das Gute, das ich will, das tue ich nicht; sondern das Böse, das ich nicht will, das tue ich.
20 But if I do what I have no mind to do, it is no longer I who do it, but the sin living in me.
20 Et si je fais ce que je ne veux pas, ce n'est plus moi qui le fais, c'est le péché qui habite en moi.
20 Ach más é an ní nach áil liom a dhéanaim ní mise a chuireann i gcrích é feasta ach an peaca atá lonnaithe ionam.
20 Y si hago lo que no quiero, ya no obro yo, sino el mal que mora en mí.
20 So ich aber tue, was ich nicht will, so tue ich dasselbe nicht; sondern die Sünde, die in mir wohnt.
21 So I see a law that, though I have a mind to do good, evil is present in me.
21 Je trouve donc en moi cette loi: quand je veux faire le bien, le mal est attaché à moi.
21 Aithním mar sin an prionsabal seo a bheith ann: nuair is áil liom an mhaith a dhéanamh is é an t‑olc a bhíonn i mo ghaobhar.
21 Así que, queriendo yo hacer el bien, hallo esta ley: Que el mal está en mí.
21 So finde ich mir nun ein Gesetz, der ich will das Gute tun, daß mir das Böse anhangt.
22 In my heart I take pleasure in the law of God,
22 Car je prends plaisir à la loi de Dieu, selon l'homme intérieur;
22 Mar is aoibhinn liom dlí Dé i mo chroí istigh
22 Porque según el hombre interior, me deleito en la ley de Dios:
22 Denn ich habe Lust an Gottes Gesetz nach dem inwendigen Menschen.
23 But I see another law in my body, working against the law of my mind, and making me the servant of the law of sin which is in my flesh.
23 mais je vois dans mes membres une autre loi, qui lutte contre la loi de mon entendement, et qui me rend captif de la loi du péché, qui est dans mes membres.
23 ach tugaim dlí eile faoi deara i mo bhaill bheatha agus é i ngleic leis an dlí atá i m'aigne agus ag déanamh cime díom ag dlí an pheaca atá lonnaithe i mo bhaill.
23 Mas veo otra ley en mis miembros, que se rebela contra la ley de mi espíritu, y que me lleva cautivo á la ley del pecado que está en mis miembros.
23 Ich sehe aber ein ander Gesetz in meinen Gliedern, das da widerstreitet dem Gesetz in meinem Gemüte und nimmt mich gefangen in der Sünde Gesetz, welches ist in meinen Gliedern.
24 How unhappy am I! who will make me free from the body of this death?
24 Misérable que je suis! Qui me délivrera du corps de cette mort?...
24 Ó nach mise an díol trua! Cé a fhuasclóidh ón trú seo coirp mé?
24 ¡Miserable hombre de mí! ¿quién me librará del cuerpo de esta muerte?
24 Ich elender Mensch! wer wird mich erlösen von dem Leibe dieses Todes?
25 I give praise to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So with my mind I am a servant to the law of God, but with my flesh to the law of sin.
25 Grâces soient rendues à Dieu par Jésus Christ notre Seigneur!... Ainsi donc, moi-même, je suis par l'entendement esclave de la loi de Dieu, et je suis par la chair esclave de la loi du péché.
