1 And when the decision had been made that we were to go by sea to Italy, they gave Paul and certain other prisoners into the care of a captain named Julius, of the Augustan band.

1 Da es aber beschlossen war, daß wir nach Italien schiffen sollten, übergaben sie Paulus und etliche andere Gefangene dem Unterhauptmann mit Namen Julius, von der "kaiserlichen" Schar.
2 And we went to sea in a ship of Adramyttium which was sailing to the sea towns of Asia, Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
2 Nous montâmes sur un navire d'Adramytte, qui devait côtoyer l'Asie, et nous partîmes, ayant avec nous Aristarque, Macédonien de Thessalonique.

2 Da wir aber in ein adramyttisches Schiff traten, daß wir an Asien hin schiffen sollten, fuhren wir vom Lande; und mit uns war Aristarchus aus Mazedonien, von Thessalonich.
3 And on the day after, we came to Sidon; and Julius was kind to Paul, and let him go to see his friends and take a rest.
3 Le jour suivant, nous abordâmes à Sidon; et Julius, qui traitait Paul avec bienveillance, lui permit d'aller chez ses amis et de recevoir leurs soins.

3 Und des andern Tages kamen wir an zu Sidon; und Julius hielt sich freundlich gegen Paulus, erlaubte ihm, zu seinen guten Freunden zu gehen und sich zu pflegen.
4 And sailing again from there, we went on under cover of Cyprus, because the wind was against us.
4 Partis de là, nous longeâmes l'île de Chypre, parce que les vents étaient contraires.

5 And having gone across the sea off Cilicia and Pamphylia we came to Myra, in Lycia.
5 Après avoir traversé la mer qui baigne la Cilicie et la Pamphylie, nous arrivâmes à Myra en Lycie.

6 And there the captain came across a ship of Alexandria, sailing for Italy, and put us in it.
6 Et là, le centenier, ayant trouvé un navire d'Alexandrie qui allait en Italie, nous y fit monter.
6 Fuair an taoiseach céad long Alastraíneach ansiúd a bhí ag triall ar an Iodáil, agus chuir sé sinn ar bord inti.
6 Y hallando allí el centurión una nave Alejandrina que navegaba á Italia, nos puso en ella.
6 Und daselbst fand der Unterhauptmann ein Schiff von Alexandrien, das schiffte nach Italien, und ließ uns darauf übersteigen.
7 And when we had gone on slowly for a long time, and had had hard work getting across to Cnidus, for the wind was against us, we went under cover of Crete, in the direction of Salmone;
7 Pendant plusieurs jours nous naviguâmes lentement, et ce ne fut pas sans difficulté que nous atteignîmes la hauteur de Cnide, où le vent ne nous permit pas d'aborder. Nous passâmes au-dessous de l'île de Crète, du côté de Salmone.

7 Y navegando muchos días despacio, y habiendo apenas llegado delante de Gnido, no dejándonos el viento, navegamos bajo de Creta, junto á Salmón.
7 Da wir aber langsam schifften und in vielen Tagen kaum gegen Knidus kamen (denn der Wind wehrte uns), schifften wir unter Kreta hin bei Salmone
8 And sailing down the side of it, as well as we were able, we came to a certain place named Fair Havens, near which was the town of Lasea.
8 Nous la côtoyâmes avec peine, et nous arrivâmes à un lieu nommé Beaux Ports, près duquel était la ville de Lasée.

9 And as a long time had gone by, and the journey was now full of danger, because it was late in the year, Paul put the position before them,

10 Saying, Friends, I see that this journey will be one of great damage and loss, not only to the goods and the ship, but to ourselves.
10 C'est pourquoi Paul avertit les autres, en disant: O hommes, je vois que la navigation ne se fera pas sans péril et sans beaucoup de dommage, non seulement pour la cargaison et pour le navire, mais encore pour nos personnes.
10 á rá: “Feictear domsa, a fheara, go bhfuil tubaiste i ndán don turas seo agus go ndéanfar díobháil mhór ní amháin don long agus don lasta ach dúinn féin chomh maith.”
10 Diciéndoles: Varones, veo que con trabajo y mucho daño, no sólo de la cargazón y de la nave, mas aun de nuestras personas, habrá de ser la navegación.
10 und sprach zu ihnen: Liebe Männer, ich sehe, daß die Schiffahrt will mit Leid und großem Schaden ergehen, nicht allein der Last und des Schiffes sondern auch unsers Lebens.
11 But the captain gave more attention to the master and the owner of the ship than to what Paul said.

12 And as the harbour was not a good one in which to be for the winter, the greater number of them were for going out to sea, in order, if possible, to put in for the winter at Phoenix, a harbour of Crete, looking to the north-east and south-east.
12 Et comme le port n'était pas bon pour hiverner, la plupart furent d'avis de le quitter pour tâcher d'atteindre Phénix, port de Crète qui regarde le sud-ouest et le nord-ouest, afin d'y passer l'hiver.

12 Y no habiendo puerto cómodo para invernar, muchos acordaron pasar aún de allí, por si pudiesen arribar á Fenice é invernar allí, que es un puerto de Creta que mira al Nordeste y Sudeste.
12 Und da die Anfurt ungelegen war, zu überwintern, bestanden ihrer das mehrere Teil auf dem Rat, von dannen zu fahren, ob sie könnten kommen gen Phönix, zu überwintern, welches ist eine Anfurt an Kreta gegen Südwest und Nordwest.
13 And when the south wind came softly, being of the opinion that their purpose might be effected, they let the ship go and went sailing down the side of Crete, very near to the land.
13 Un léger vent du sud vint à souffler, et, se croyant maîtres de leur dessein, ils levèrent l'ancre et côtoyèrent de près l'île de Crète.
13 Nuair a d'éirigh gaoth bhog aneas, mheas siad go raibh rite leo; thóg siad an t‑ancaire agus chun bealaigh leo cois cósta na Créite.
13 Y soplando el austro, pareciéndoles que ya tenían lo que deseaban, alzando velas, iban cerca de la costa de Creta.
13 Da aber der Südwind wehte und sie meinten, sie hätten nun ihr Vornehmen, erhoben sie sich und fuhren näher an Kreta hin.
14 But after a little time, a very violent wind, named Euraquilo, came down from it with great force.
14 Mais bientôt un vent impétueux, qu'on appelle Euraquilon, se déchaîna sur l'île.

15 And when the ship got into the grip of it, and was not able to make headway into the wind, we gave way, and went before it.
15 Le navire fut entraîné, sans pouvoir lutter contre le vent, et nous nous laissâmes aller à la dérive.

15 Und da das Schiff ergriffen ward und konnte sich nicht wider den Wind richten, gaben wir's dahin und schwebten also.
16 And, sailing near the side of a small island named Cauda, we were able, though it was hard work, to make the ship's boat safe:
16 Nous passâmes au-dessous d'une petite île nommée Clauda, et nous eûmes de la peine à nous rendre maîtres de la chaloupe;

17 And having got it up, they put cords under and round the ship; but fearing that they might be pushed on to the Syrtis, they let down the sails and so went running before the wind.
17 après l'avoir hissée, on se servit des moyens de secours pour ceindre le navire, et, dans la crainte de tomber sur la Syrte, on abaissa les voiles. C'est ainsi qu'on se laissa emporter par le vent.

17 Den hoben wir auf und brauchten die Hilfe und unterbanden das Schiff; denn wir fürchteten, es möchte in die Syrte fallen, und ließen die Segel herunter und fuhren also.
18 And, still fighting the storm with all our strength, the day after they made a start at getting the goods out of the ship;

19 And on the third day, they let all the sailing apparatus go over the side.
19 et le troisième jour nous y lançâmes de nos propres mains les agrès du navire.

19 Y al tercer día nosotros con nuestras manos arrojamos los aparejos de la nave.

20 And as we had not seen the sun or stars for a long time, and a great storm was on us, all hope of salvation was gone.
20 Le soleil et les étoiles ne parurent pas pendant plusieurs jours, et la tempête était si forte que nous perdîmes enfin toute espérance de nous sauver.

21 And when they had been without food for a long time, Paul got up among them and said, Friends, it would have been better if you had given attention to me and not gone sailing out from Crete, to undergo this damage and loss.
21 On n'avait pas mangé depuis longtemps. Alors Paul, se tenant au milieu d'eux, leur dit: O hommes, il fallait m'écouter et ne pas partir de Crète, afin d'éviter ce péril et ce dommage.
21 Faoin am seo bhí siad tamall fada gan bia a chaitheamh agus d'éirigh Pól ina lár agus dúirt: “Dá mb'áil libh mo chomhairlese a ghlacadh, a fheara, agus gan corraí as an gCréit, ní tharlódh an dochar ná an díobháil seo daoibh.
21 Entonces Pablo, habiendo ya mucho que no comíamos, puesto en pie en medio de ellos, dijo: Fuera de cierto conveniente, oh varones, haberme oído, y no partir de Creta, y evitar este inconveniente y daño.
21 Und da man lange nicht gegessen hatte, trat Paulus mitten unter sie und sprach: Liebe Männer, man solltet mir gehorcht haben und nicht von Kreta aufgebrochen sein, und uns dieses Leides und Schadens überhoben haben.
22 But now, I say to you, be of good heart, for there will be no loss of life, but only of the ship.
22 Maintenant je vous exhorte à prendre courage; car aucun de vous ne périra, et il n'y aura de perte que celle du navire.
22 Ar a shon sin impím anois oraibh misneach a bheith agaibh mar ní chaillfear duine ar bith agaibh ach an long amháin.
22 Mas ahora os amonesto que tengáis buen ánimo; porque ninguna pérdida habrá de persona de vosotros, sino solamente de la nave.
22 Und nun ermahne ich euch, daß ihr unverzagt seid; denn keines Leben aus uns wird umkommen, nur das Schiff.
23 For this night there came to my side an angel of the God who is my Master and whose servant I am,

24 Saying, Have no fear, Paul, for you will come before Caesar, and God has given to you all those who are sailing with you.
24 et m'a dit: Paul, ne crains point; il faut que tu comparaisses devant César, et voici, Dieu t'a donné tous ceux qui naviguent avec toi.

24 Diciendo: Pablo, no temas; es menester que seas presentado delante de César; y he aquí, Dios te ha dado todos los que navegan contigo.
24 und sprach: Fürchte dich nicht, Paulus! du mußt vor den Kaiser gestellt werden; und siehe, Gott hat dir geschenkt alle, die mit dir schiffen.
25 And so, O men, be of good heart, for I have faith in God that it will be as he said to me.
25 C'est pourquoi, ô hommes, rassurez-vous, car j'ai cette confiance en Dieu qu'il en sera comme il m'a été dit.

26 But we will be sent on to a certain island.

27 But when the fourteenth day came, while we were going here and there in the Adriatic sea, about the middle of the night the sailors had an idea that they were getting near land;
27 La quatorzième nuit, tandis que nous étions ballottés sur l'Adriatique, les matelots, vers le milieu de la nuit, soupçonnèrent qu'on approchait de quelque terre.

27 Da aber die vierzehnte Nacht kam, daß wir im Adria-Meer fuhren, um die Mitternacht, wähnten die Schiffsleute, sie kämen etwa an ein Land.
28 And they let down the lead, and saw that the sea was a hundred and twenty feet deep; and after a little time they did it again and it was ninety feet.
28 Ayant jeté la sonde, ils trouvèrent vingt brasses; un peu plus loin, ils la jetèrent de nouveau, et trouvèrent quinze brasses.

28 Und sie senkten den Bleiwurf ein und fanden zwanzig Klafter tief; und über ein wenig davon senkten sie abermals und fanden fünfzehn Klafter.
29 Then, fearing that by chance we might come on to the rocks, they let down four hooks from the back of the ship, and made prayers for the coming of day.
29 Dans la crainte de heurter contre des écueils, ils jetèrent quatre ancres de la poupe, et attendirent le jour avec impatience.

30 Then the sailors made attempts secretly to get away from the ship, letting down a boat as if they were about to put down hooks from the front of the ship;
30 Mais, comme les matelots cherchaient à s'échapper du navire, et mettaient la chaloupe à la mer sous prétexte de jeter les ancres de la proue,

30 Da aber die Schiffsleute die Flucht suchten aus dem Schiffe und den Kahn niederließen in das Meer und gaben vor, sie wollten die Anker vorn aus dem Schiffe lassen,
31 But Paul said to the captain and his men, If you do not keep these men in the ship, you will not be safe.
31 Paul dit au centenier et aux soldats: Si ces hommes ne restent pas dans le navire, vous ne pouvez être sauvés.

31 Pablo dijo al centurión y á los soldados: Si éstos no quedan en la nave, vosotros no podéis salvaros.

32 Then the armed men, cutting the cords of the boat, let her go.
32 Alors les soldats coupèrent les cordes de la chaloupe, et la laissèrent tomber.
32 Ansin ghearr na saighdiúirí téada an bháid agus lig di titim isteach san fharraige.
32 Entonces los soldados cortaron los cabos del esquife, y dejáronlo perder.
32 Da hieben die Kriegsknechte die Stricke ab von dem Kahn und ließen ihn fallen.
33 And when dawn was near, Paul gave them all orders to take food, saying, This is the fourteenth day you have been waiting and taking no food.
33 Avant que le jour parût, Paul exhorta tout le monde à prendre de la nourriture, disant: C'est aujourd'hui le quatorzième jour que vous êtes dans l'attente et que vous persistez à vous abstenir de manger.

33 Y como comenzó á ser de día, Pablo exhortaba á todos que comiesen, diciendo: Este es el décimocuarto día que esperáis y permanecéis ayunos, no comiendo nada.
33 Und da es anfing licht zu werden, ermahnte sie Paulus alle, daß sie Speise nähmen, und sprach: Es ist heute der vierzehnte Tag, daß ihr wartet und ungegessen geblieben seid und habt nichts zu euch genommen.
34 So I make request to you to take food; for this is for your salvation: not a hair from the head of any of you will come to destruction.
34 Je vous invite donc à prendre de la nourriture, car cela est nécessaire pour votre salut, et il ne se perdra pas un cheveux de la tête d'aucun de vous.
34 “Molaim daoibh dá bhrí sin bhur gcuid a chaitheamh, mar tá bhur slánú ag brath air. Mar ní chaillfear ribe gruaige as ceann aon duine agaibh.”
34 Por tanto, os ruego que comáis por vuestra salud: que ni aun un cabello de la cabeza de ninguno de vosotros perecerá.
34 Darum ermahne ich euch, Speise zu nehmen, euch zu laben; denn es wird euer keinem ein Haar von dem Haupt entfallen.
35 And when he had said this and had taken bread, he gave praise to God before them all, and took a meal of the broken bread.

39 And when it was day, they had no knowledge of the land, but they saw an inlet of the sea with a floor of sand, and they had the idea of driving the ship up on to it if possible.

41 And coming to a point between two seas, they got the ship to land; and the front part was fixed in the sand and not able to be moved, but the back part was broken by the force of the waves.

42 Then the armed men were for putting the prisoners to death, so that no one would get away by swimming.
