1 So Festus, having come into that part of the country which was under his rule, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.

2 And the chief priests and the chief men of the Jews made statements against Paul,

3 Requesting Festus to give effect to their design against him, and send him to Jerusalem, when they would be waiting to put him to death on the way.
3 lui demandèrent comme une faveur qu'il le fît venir à Jérusalem. Ils préparaient un guet-apens, pour le tuer en chemin.

3 und baten um Gunst wider ihn, daß er ihn fordern ließe gen Jerusalem, und stellten ihm nach, daß sie ihn unterwegs umbrächten.
4 But Festus, in answer, said that Paul was being kept in prison at Caesarea, and that in a short time he himself was going there.
4 Festus répondit que Paul était gardé à Césarée, et que lui-même devait partir sous peu.
4 Ach d'fhreagair Féastas go raibh Pól faoi choimeád i gCéasaráia agus go mbeadh sé féin ag dul ar ais ann gan mhoill.
4 Mas Festo respondió, que Pablo estaba guardado en Cesarea, y que él mismo partiría presto.
4 Da antwortete Festus, Paulus würde ja behalten zu Cäsarea; aber er würde in kurzem wieder dahin ziehen.
5 So, he said, let those who have authority among you go with me, and if there is any wrong in the man, let them make a statement against him.
5 Que les principaux d'entre vous descendent avec moi, dit-il, et s'il y a quelque chose de coupable en cet homme, qu'ils l'accusent.

5 Los que de vosotros pueden, dijo desciendan juntamente; y si hay algún crimen en este varón, acúsenle.
5 Welche nun unter euch (sprach er) können, die laßt mit hinabziehen und den Mann verklagen, so etwas an ihm ist.
6 And when he had been with them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea; and on the day after, he took his place on the judge's seat, and sent for Paul.
6 Festus ne passa que huit à dix jours parmi eux, puis il descendit à Césarée. Le lendemain, s'étant assis sur son tribunal, il donna l'ordre qu'on amenât Paul.

6 Y deteniéndose entre ellos no más de ocho ó diez días, venido á Cesarea, el siguiente día se sentó en el tribunal, y mandó que Pablo fuese traído.
6 Da er aber bei ihnen mehr denn zehn Tage gewesen war, zog er hinab gen Cäsarea; und des andern Tages setzte er sich auf den Richtstuhl und hieß Paulus holen.
7 And when he came, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem came round him, and made all sorts of serious statements against him, which were not supported by the facts.
7 Quand il fut arrivé, les Juifs qui étaient venus de Jérusalem l'entourèrent, et portèrent contre lui de nombreuses et graves accusations, qu'ils n'étaient pas en état de prouver.
7 Nuair a tháinig sé i láthair, sheas na Giúdaigh a bhí tagtha anuas ó Iarúsailéim ina thimpeall agus thosaigh ag cur mórán cionta troma ina leith, nithe nár fhéad siad a chruthú.
7 El cual venido, le rodearon los Judíos que habían venido de Jerusalem, poniendo contra Pablo muchas y graves acusaciones, las cuales no podían probar;
7 Da der aber vor ihn kam, traten umher die Juden, die von Jerusalem herabgekommen waren, und brachten auf viele und schwere Klagen wider Paulus, welche sie nicht konnten beweisen,
8 Then Paul, in his answer to them, said, I have done no wrong against the law of the Jews, or against the Temple, or against Caesar.
8 Paul entreprit sa défense, en disant: Je n'ai rien fait de coupable, ni contre la loi des Juifs, ni contre le temple, ni contre César.
8 Dúirt Pól mar chosaint air féin: “Níl coir ar bith déanta agam in aghaidh dlí na nGiúdach ná in aghaidh an Teampaill ná in aghaidh Chéasair.”
8 Alegando él por su parte: Ni contra la ley de los Judíos, ni contra el templo, ni contra César he pecado en nada.
8 dieweil er sich verantwortete: Ich habe weder an der Juden Gesetz noch an dem Tempel noch am Kaiser mich versündigt.
9 But Festus, desiring to get the approval of the Jews, said to Paul, Will you go up to Jerusalem, and be judged before me there in connection with these things?
9 Festus, désirant plaire aux Juifs, répondit à Paul: Veux-tu monter à Jérusalem, et y être jugé sur ces choses en ma présence?
9 Bhí fonn ar Fhéastas gnaoi na nGiúdach a tharraingt air féin agus dúirt sé mar fhreagra ar Phól: “An mbeifeá sásta dul suas go Iarúsailéim chun do thriail a sheasamh ann os mo chomhairse i dtaobh na gcionta seo?”
9 Mas Festo, queriendo congraciarse con los Judíos, respondiendo á Pablo, dijo: ¿Quieres subir á Jerusalem, y allá ser juzgado de estas cosas delante de mí?
9 Festus aber wollte den Juden eine Gunst erzeigen und antwortete Paulus und sprach: Willst du hinauf gen Jerusalem und daselbst über dieses dich vor mir richten lassen?
10 And Paul said, I am before the seat of Caesar's authority where it is right for me to be judged: I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you are well able to see.
10 Paul dit: C'est devant le tribunal de César que je comparais, c'est là que je dois être jugé. Je n'ai fait aucun tort aux Juifs, comme tu le sais fort bien.
10 Ach dúirt Pól: “Táim i mo sheasamh os comhair suí breithimh Chéasair. Is ansiúd is ceart cúirt a chur orm. Níl aon éagóir déanta ar na Giúdaigh agam mar is eol duit féin go maith.
10 Y Pablo dijo: Ante el tribunal de César estoy, donde conviene que sea juzgado. A los Judíos no he hecho injuria alguna, como tú sabes muy bien.
10 Paulus aber sprach: Ich stehe vor des Kaisers Gericht, da soll ich mich lassen richten; den Juden habe ich kein Leid getan, wie auch du aufs beste weißt.
11 If, then, I am a wrongdoer and there is a cause of death in me, I am ready for death: if it is not as they say against me, no man may give me up to them. Let my cause come before Caesar.
11 Si j'ai commis quelque injustice, ou quelque crime digne de mort, je ne refuse pas de mourir; mais, si les choses dont ils m'accusent sont fausses, personne n'a le droit de me livrer à eux. J'en appelle à César.

11 Porque si alguna injuria, ó cosa alguna digna de muerte he hecho, no rehuso morir; mas si nada hay de las cosas de que éstos me acusan, nadie puede darme á ellos. A César apelo.
11 Habe ich aber jemand Leid getan und des Todes wert gehandelt, so weigere ich mich nicht, zu sterben; ist aber der keines nicht, dessen sie mich verklagen, so kann mich ihnen niemand übergeben. Ich berufe mich auf den Kaiser!
12 Then Festus, having had a discussion with the Jews, made answer, You have said, Let my cause come before Caesar; to Caesar you will go.
12 Alors Festus, après avoir délibéré avec le conseil, répondit: Tu en as appelé à César; tu iras devant César.
12 Ansin, tar éis dó dul chun cainte lena chomhairle, d'fhreagair Féastas agus dúirt: “Ó ghairm tú Céasar, is go Céasar a rachaidh tú.”
12 Entonces Festo, habiendo hablado con el consejo, respondió: ¿A César has apelado? á César irás.
12 Da besprach sich Festus mit dem Rat und antwortete: Auf den Kaiser hast du dich berufen, zum Kaiser sollst du ziehen.
13 Now when some days had gone by, King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea and went to see Festus.
13 Quelques jours après, le roi Agrippa et Bérénice arrivèrent à Césarée, pour saluer Festus.

13 Y pasados algunos días, el rey Agripa y Bernice vinieron á Cesarea á saludar á Festo.
13 Aber nach etlichen Tagen kamen der König Agrippa und Bernice gen Cäsarea, Festus zu begrüßen.
14 And as they were there for some days, Festus gave them Paul's story, saying, There is a certain man here who was put in prison by Felix:
14 Comme ils passèrent là plusieurs jours, Festus exposa au roi l'affaire de Paul, et dit: Félix a laissé prisonnier un homme
14 Chuir Féastas scéal Phóil faoi bhráid an rí. “Tá fear anseo,” ar seisean, “a d'fhág Féilix ina dhiaidh i bpríosún.
14 Y como estuvieron allí muchos días, Festo declaró la causa de Pablo al rey, diciendo: Un hombre ha sido dejado preso por Félix,
14 Und da sie viele Tage daselbst gewesen waren, legte Festus dem König den Handel von Paulus vor und sprach: Es ist ein Mann von Felix hinterlassen gefangen,
15 Against whom the chief priests and the rulers of the Jews made a statement when I was at Jerusalem, requesting me to give a decision against him.
15 contre lequel, lorsque j'étais à Jérusalem, les principaux sacrificateurs et les anciens des Juifs ont porté plainte, en demandant sa condamnation.
15 Fad a bhí mé in Iarúsailéim rinne na hardsagairt agus seanóirí na nGiúdach gearán liom ina thaobh agus d'iarr é a dhaoradh.
15 Sobre el cual, cuando fuí á Jerusalem, vinieron á mí los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos de los Judíos, pidiendo condenación contra él:
15 um welches willen die Hohenpriester und Ältesten vor mir erschienen, da ich zu Jerusalem war, und baten, ich sollte ihn richten lassen;
16 To whom I gave answer that it is not the Roman way to give a man up, till he has been face to face with those who are attacking him, and has had a chance to give an answer to the statements made against him.
16 Je leur ai répondu que ce n'est pas la coutume des Romains de livrer un homme avant que l'inculpé ait été mis en présence de ses accusateurs, et qu'il ait eu la faculté de se défendre sur les choses dont on l'accuse.

16 A los cuales respondí: no ser costumbre de los Romanos dar alguno á la muerte antes que el que es acusado tenga presentes sus acusadores, y haya lugar de defenderse de la acusación.
16 Denen antwortete ich: Es ist der Römer Weise nicht, daß ein Mensch übergeben werde, ihn umzubringen, ehe denn der Verklagte seine Kläger gegenwärtig habe und Raum empfange, sich auf die Anklage zu verantworten.
17 So, when they had come together here, straight away, on the day after, I took my place on the judge's seat and sent for the man.
17 Ils sont donc venus ici, et, sans différer, je m'assis le lendemain sur mon tribunal, et je donnai l'ordre qu'on amenât cet homme.

17 Así que, habiendo venido ellos juntos acá, sin ninguna dilación, al día siguiente, sentado en el tribunal, mandé traer al hombre;
17 Da sie aber her zusammenkamen, machte ich keinen Aufschub und hielt des andern Tages Gericht und hieß den Mann vorbringen;
18 But when they got up they said nothing about such crimes as I had in mind:
18 Les accusateurs, s'étant présentés, ne lui imputèrent rien de ce que je supposais;

18 Y estando presentes los acusadores, ningún cargo produjeron de los que yo sospechaba:

19 But had certain questions against him in connection with their religion, and about one Jesus, now dead, who, Paul said, was living.
19 ils avaient avec lui des discussions relatives à leur religion particulière, et à un certain Jésus qui est mort, et que Paul affirmait être vivant.

20 And as I had not enough knowledge for the discussion of these things, I made the suggestion to him to go to Jerusalem and be judged there.
20 Ne sachant quel parti prendre dans ce débat, je lui demandai s'il voulait aller à Jérusalem, et y être jugé sur ces choses.

20 Y yo, dudando en cuestión semejante, dije, si quería ir á Jerusalem, y allá ser juzgado de estas cosas.
20 Da ich aber mich auf die Frage nicht verstand, sprach ich, ob er wollte gen Jerusalem reisen und daselbst sich darüber lassen richten.
21 But when Paul made a request that he might be judged by Caesar, I gave orders for him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.
21 Mais Paul en ayant appelé, pour que sa cause fût réservée à la connaissance de l'empereur, j'ai ordonné qu'on le gardât jusqu'à ce que je l'envoyasse à César.

21 Mas apelando Pablo á ser guardado al conocimiento de Augusto, mandé que le guardasen hasta que le enviara á César.
21 Da aber Paulus sich berief, daß er für des Kaisers Erkenntnis aufbehalten würde, hieß ich ihn behalten, bis daß ich ihn zum Kaiser sende.
22 And Agrippa said to Festus, I have a desire to give the man a hearing myself. Tomorrow, he said, you may give him a hearing.
22 Agrippa dit à Festus: Je voudrais aussi entendre cet homme. Demain, répondit Festus, tu l'entendras.
22 Dúirt Aigripe le Féastas: “Ba mhaith liom féin an fear seo a chloisteáil.” “Cloisfidh tú amárach é,” ar seisean.
22 Entonces Agripa dijo á Festo: Yo también quisiera oir á ese hombre. Y él dijo: Mañana le oirás.
22 Agrippa aber sprach zu Festus: Ich möchte den Menschen auch gerne hören. Er aber sprach: Morgen sollst du ihn hören.
23 So on the day after, when Agrippa and Bernice in great glory had come into the public place of hearing, with the chief of the army and the chief men of the town, at the order of Festus, Paul was sent for.
23 Le lendemain donc, Agrippa et Bérénice vinrent en grande pompe, et entrèrent dans le lieu de l'audience avec les tribuns et les principaux de la ville. Sur l'ordre de Festus, Paul fut amené.
23 Lá arna mhárach tháinig Aigripe agus Beirnicé faoi lánmhustar agus ghluais siad isteach i halla na dála, agus ceannasaithe an airm agus maithe na cathrach in éineacht leo. Ar ordú ó Fhéastas tugadh Pól isteach.
23 Y al otro día, viniendo Agripa y Bernice con mucho aparato, y entrando en la audiencia con los tribunos y principales hombres de la ciudad, por mandato de Festo, fué traído Pablo.
23 Und am andern Tage, da Agrippa und Bernice kamen mit großem Gepränge und gingen in das Richthaus mit den Hauptleuten und vornehmsten Männern der Stadt, und da es Festus hieß, ward Paulus gebracht.
24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all those who are present here with us, you see this man, about whom all the Jews have made protests to me, at Jerusalem and in this place, saying that it is not right for him to be living any longer.
24 Alors Festus dit: Roi Agrippa, et vous tous qui êtes présents avec nous, vous voyez cet homme au sujet duquel toute la multitude des Juifs s'est adressée à moi, soit à Jérusalem, soit ici, en s'écriant qu'il ne devait plus vivre.
24 Ansin labhair Féastas agus dúirt: “A rí Aigripe agus sibhse go léir atá i láthair farainn, feiceann sibh an fear seo ar tháinig na Giúdaigh go léir ina slua chugam in Iarúsailéim agus anseo freisin agus iad ag screadach nár cheart é bheith beo a thuilleadh.
24 Entonces Festo dijo: Rey Agripa, y todos los varones que estáis aquí juntos con nosotros: veis á éste, por el cual toda la multitud de los Judíos me ha demandado en Jerusalem y aquí, dando voces que no conviene que viva más;
24 Und Festus sprach: Lieber König Agrippa und alle ihr Männer, die ihr mit uns hier seid, da seht ihr den, um welchen mich die ganze Menge der Juden angegangen hat, zu Jerusalem und auch hier, und schrieen, er solle nicht länger leben.
25 But, in my opinion, there is no cause of death in him, and as he himself has made a request to be judged by Caesar, I have said that I would send him.
25 Pour moi, ayant reconnu qu'il n'a rien fait qui mérite la mort, et lui-même en ayant appelé à l'empereur, j'ai résolu de le faire partir.
25 Ach fuair mé féin nach raibh aon ní déanta aige a thuillfeadh an bás. Ach de bhrí gur ghairm sé féin an t‑impire, tá socair agam é a chur chuige.
25 Mas yo, hallando que ninguna cosa digna de muerte ha hecho, y él mismo apelando á Augusto, he determinado enviarle:
25 Aber, da ich vernahm, daß er nichts getan hatte, das des Todes wert sei, und er sich selber auf den Kaiser berief, habe ich beschlossen, ihn zu senden.
26 But I have no certain account of him to send to Caesar. So I have sent for him to come before you, and specially before you, King Agrippa, so that after the business has been gone into, I may have something to put in writing.
26 Je n'ai rien de certain à écrire à l'empereur sur son compte; c'est pourquoi je l'ai fait paraître devant vous, et surtout devant toi, roi Agrippa, afin de savoir qu'écrire, après qu'il aura été examiné.

26 Del cual no tengo cosa cierta que escriba al señor; por lo que le he sacado á vosotros, y mayormente á tí, oh rey Agripa, para que hecha información, tenga yo qué escribir.
26 Etwas Gewisses aber habe ich von ihm nicht, das ich dem Herrn schreibe. Darum habe ich ihn lassen hervorbringen vor euch, allermeist aber vor dir, König Agrippa, auf daß ich nach geschehener Erforschung haben möge, was ich schreibe.
27 For it seems to me against reason to send a prisoner without making clear what there is against him.
27 Car il me semble absurde d'envoyer un prisonnier sans indiquer de quoi on l'accuse.
