John 21

1 I have given an earlier account, O Theophilus, of all the things which Jesus did, and of his teaching from the first,

1 Thug mé cuntas cheana, a Theofail, ar gach a ndearna Íosa agus ar ar thug sé de theagasc uaidh ó thús

2 Till the day when he was taken up to heaven after he had given his orders, through the Holy Spirit, to the Apostles of whom he had made selection:

2 go dtí an lá a tógadh suas ar neamh é, tar éis dó a chuid orduithe a thabhairt le cabhair an Spioraid Naoimh do na haspail a bhí tofa aige.

2 Hasta el día en que, habiendo dado mandamientos por el Espíritu Santo á los apóstoles que escogió, fué recibido arriba;

3 And to whom he gave clear and certain signs that he was living, after his death; for he was seen by them for forty days, and gave them teaching about the kingdom of God:

3 I ndiaidh a pháise is iomaí cruthú a thug sé dóibh go raibh sé beo, á nochtadh féin dóibh ar feadh daichead lá agus ag cur síos ar ríocht Dé.

4 And when they were all together, with him, he gave them orders not to go away from Jerusalem, but to keep there, waiting till the word of the Father was put into effect, of which, he said, I have given you knowledge:

4 Comme il se trouvait avec eux, il leur recommanda de ne pas s'éloigner de Jérusalem, mais d'attendre ce que le Père avait promis, ce que je vous ai annoncé, leur dit-il;

4 Uair dá raibh sé ina gcuibhreann d'ordaigh sé dóibh gan corraí ó Iarúsailéim ach fanacht ann go dtí go gcomhlíonfaí gealltanas an Athar, “An gealltanas úd,” ar sé, “ar chuala sibh mé ag trácht air:

4 Und als er sie versammelt hatte, befahl er ihnen, daß sie nicht von Jerusalem wichen, sondern warteten auf die Verheißung des Vaters, welche ihr habt gehört (sprach er) von mir;

5 For the baptism of John was with water, but you will have baptism with the Holy Spirit, after a little time.

5 rinne Eoin baisteadh le huisce, ach déanfar sibhse a bhaisteadh leis an Spiorad Naomh i gceann beagán laethanta.”

6 So, when they were together, they said to him, Lord, will you at this time give back the kingdom to Israel?

7 And he said to them, It is not for you to have knowledge of the time and the order of events which the Father has kept in his control.

7 Y les dijo: No toca á vosotros saber los tiempos ó las sazones que el Padre puso en su sola potestad;

7 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Es gebührt euch nicht, zu wissen Zeit oder Stunde, welche der Vater seiner Macht vorbehalten hat;

8 But you will have power, when the Holy Spirit has come on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judaea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

8 Ach gheobhaidh sibh neart an Spioraid Naoimh atá le tuirlingt oraibh agus beidh sibh in bhur bhfinnéithe ormsa in Iarúsailéim agus ar fud Iúdáia go léir agus na Samáire agus a fhad le himeall an domhain.” An Deascabháil

9 And when he had said these things, while they were looking, he was taken up, and went from their view into a cloud.

10 And while they were looking up to heaven with great attention, two men came to them, in white clothing,

10 Fad a bhí siad ag stánadh in airde sa spéir ina dhiaidh sheas beirt fhear in éadaí bána ina n‑aice.

10 Y estando con los ojos puestos en el cielo, entre tanto que él iba, he aquí dos varones se pusieron junto á ellos en vestidos blancos;

11 And said, O men of Galilee, why are you looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come again, in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.

11 “A fheara na Gailíle,” ar siad, “cad ab áil libh in bhur seasamh ansin ag amharc in airde sa spéir? An Íosa seo a tógadh suas ar neamh uaibh, tiocfaidh sé an tslí chéanna ina bhfaca sibh ag dul suas é.”

12 Then they went back to Jerusalem from the mountain named Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away.

12 Ar ais leo ansin go Iarúsailéim ó Chnoc na nOlóg mar a thugtar air, cnoc atá i ngiorracht siúl lá sabóide do Iarúsailéim.

13 And when they came in, they went up into the room where they were living; Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James, the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas, the son of James.

13 Nuair a shroich siad an chathair chuaigh siad in airde go dtí an seomra uachtarach mar a raibh siad ag baint fúthu: bhí Peadar ann, Eoin agus Séamas, Aindrias, Pilib agus Tomás, Parthalán, Matha agus Séamas Alfáias, Síomón Díograiseach agus Iúdás Shéamais.

14 And they all with one mind gave themselves up to prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

15 And in those days Peter got up among the brothers (there were about one hundred and twenty of them), and said,

16 My brothers, the word of God had to be put into effect, which the Holy Spirit had said before, by the mouth of David, about Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus,

16 “A bhráithre,” ar sé, “níorbh fholáir an tuar a theacht faoin tairngreacht úd a labhair an Spiorad Naomh sa scrioptúr trí bhéal Dháiví faoi Iúdás, an fear a rinne eolas na slí dóibh siúd a ghabh Íosa,

16 Varones hermanos, convino que se cumpliese la Escritura, la cual dijo antes el Espíritu Santo por la boca de David, de Judas, que fué guía de los que prendieron á Jesús;

16 Ihr Männer und Brüder, es mußte die Schrift erfüllet werden, welche zuvor gesagt hat der Heilige Geist durch den Mund Davids von Judas, der ein Führer war derer, die Jesus fingen;

17 For he was numbered among us, and had his part in our work.

18 (Now this man, with the reward of his evil-doing, got for himself a field, and falling head first, came to a sudden and violent end there.

18 Mar is eol daoibh cheannaigh an fear seo gort ar luach a choirpeachta, ach thit sé i ndiaidh a chinn, phléasc ina lár agus bhrúcht a inní go léir amach.

19 And this came to the knowledge of all those who were living in Jerusalem, so that the field was named in their language, Akel-dama, or, The field of blood.)

20 For in the book of Psalms it says, Let his house be waste, and let no man be living in it: and, Let his position be taken by another.

20 “Mar atá scríofa i leabhar na Salm: ‘Go raibh a áitreabh ina fhásach, agus gan aoinneach ina chónaí ann.’ Agus: ‘Tógadh duine eile a fheidhmeannas.’

21 For this reason, of the men who have been with us all the time, while the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

21 “Ní foláir, dá bhrí sin, do dhuine acu siúd a bhí ar aon bhuíon linne fad a bhí an Tiarna Íosa ag siúl inar measc,

22 Starting from the baptism of John till he went up from us, one will have to be a witness with us of his coming back from death.

22 ón uair a bhí Eoin ag baisteadh go dtí an lá úd a tógadh suas uainn é, ní foláir do dhuine acu siúd a bheith ina fhinné linn ar a aiséirí.”

23 And they made selection of two, Joseph, named Barsabbas, whose other name was Justus, and Matthias.

24 And they made prayers and said, Lord, having knowledge of the hearts of all men, make clear which of these two has been marked out by you,

24 Agus rinne siad guí mar seo: “A Thiarna,” ar siad, “ós tú a léann croí an uile dhuine, taispeáin dúinn cé acu den bheirt seo atá tofa agat

25 To take that position as a servant and Apostle, from which Judas by his sin was shut out, so that he might go to his place.

25 chun dul i mbun an chúraim aspalda seo ar thréig Iúdás é chun dul ina áit féin.”

26 And they put it to the decision of chance, and the decision was given for Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven Apostles.

26 Agus chuir siad ar chrainn é agus thit an crann ar Mhaitias agus airíodh ar an [dáréag] aspal é.

Acts 2
