Luke 19

1 And it came about on one of those days, when he was teaching the people in the Temple and preaching the good news,

1 Aon lá amháin, agus é ag teagasc an phobail sa Teampall agus ag fógairt an dea-scéil, tháinig uachtaráin na sagart agus na scríobhaithe i láthair mar aon leis na seanóirí,

1 Y ACONTECIO un día, que enseñando él al pueblo en el templo, y anunciando el evangelio, llegáronse los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas, con los ancianos;

2 That the chief priests and the scribes and the rulers of the people came to him and said, Make clear to us by what authority you do these things and who gave you this authority.

2 agus dúirt an méid seo leis: “Inis dúinn cén t‑údarás atá agat leis na nithe seo a dhéanamh, nó cé hé seo a thug an t‑údarás sin duit?”

3 And in answer he said to them, I will put a question to you, and do you give me an answer:

4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven or of men?

4 Dites-moi, le baptême de Jean venait-il du ciel, ou des hommes?

4 An ó neamh nó ó dhaoine a tháinig baisteadh Eoin?”

5 And they said among themselves, If we say, From heaven; he will say, Why did you not have faith in him?

5 Ach bhí siad ag suaitheadh an scéil eatarthu, á rá: “Má deirimid: ‘Ó neamh,’ déarfaidh sé: ‘Cad chuige nár chreid sibh ann?’

6 But if we say, Of men; we will be stoned by the people, for they are certain that John was a prophet.

6 Ach má deirimid: ‘Ó dhaoine,’ gabhfaidh an pobal uile de chlocha orainn, óir is deimhin leo go raibh Eoin ina fháidh.”

7 And they made answer that they had no idea where it came from.

7 Agus ba é freagra a thug siad, nach raibh a fhios acu cárbh as dó.

8 And Jesus said, And I will not make clear to you by what authority I do these things.

8 Dúirt Íosa leo: “Nílimse chun a insint daoibhse ach oiread cén t‑údarás atá agam leis na nithe seo a dhéanamh.” Máistir an Fhíonghoirt agus na Curadóirí Mallaithe

9 And he gave the people this story: A man made a vine-garden and gave the use of it to some field-workers and went into another country for a long time.

9 Thosaigh sé ansin ag rá an pharabail seo leis an bpobal: “Phlandaigh duine fíonghort, agus chuir ar cíos chun curadóirí é, agus chuaigh ar an gcoigrích go cionn mórán aimsire.

10 And at the right time he sent a servant to the workers to get part of the fruit from the vines; but the workmen gave him blows and sent him away with nothing.

10 Nuair a tháinig an t‑am, chuir sé seirbhíseach uaidh go dtí na curadóirí chun go dtabharfaidís dó a chion de thoradh an fhíonghoirt; ach chuir na curadóirí ar ais folamh é tar éis dóibh é a bhualadh.

11 And he sent another servant, and they gave blows to him in the same way, and put shame on him, and sent him away with nothing.

11 Chuir sé seirbhíseach eile freisin, ach tar éis dóibh é seo a bhualadh chomh maith, agus easonóir a thabhairt dó, chuir siad ar ais folamh é.

12 And he sent a third, and they gave him wounds and put him out.

12 Chuir sé uaidh fós an tríú duine: ach é seo arís, rinne siad é ghoin agus é thiomáint amach.

13 And the lord of the garden said, What am I to do? I will send my dearly loved son; they may give respect to him.

13 Le maître de la vigne dit: Que ferai-je? J'enverrai mon fils bien-aimé; peut-être auront-ils pour lui du respect.

13 Dúirt máistir an fhíonghoirt ansin: ‘Cad a dhéanfaidh mé? Cuirfidh mé uaim mo mhac muirneach féin; b'fhéidir go dtabharfaidís ómós dó sin.’

14 But when the workmen saw him, they said to one another, This is he who will one day be the owner of the property: let us put him to death and the heritage will be ours.

14 Ach nuair a chonaic na curadóirí eisean, bhí siad ag plé an scéil le chéile: ‘Is é seo an t‑oidhre,’ ar siad, ‘maraímis é, chun go mba linn féin an oidhreacht.’

15 And driving him out of the garden they put him to death. Now what will the lord do to these workmen?

15 Agus tar éis dóibh é a thiomáint amach as an bhfíonghort, mharaigh siad é. Dá bhrí sin, cad a dhéanfaidh máistir an fhíonghoirt leo?

16 He will come and put them to destruction and give the garden to others. And when he said this, they said, May it not be so.

16 Tiocfaidh sé agus cuirfidh sé na curadóirí sin chun báis, agus tabharfaidh an fíonghort do dhaoine eile.”

17 But he, looking on them, said, Is it not in the Writings, The stone which the builders put on one side, the same has become the chief stone of the building?

17 Ach bhreathnaigh sé orthu agus dúirt: “Murab ea, cad is ciall leis an rud úd atá scríofa: ‘An chloch dár dhiúltaigh na saoir, rinne di ceann an chúinne’?

18 Everyone falling on that stone will be broken, but the man on whom the stone comes down will be crushed to dust.

19 And the chief priests and the scribes made attempts to get their hands on him in that very hour; and they were in fear of the people, for they saw that he had made up this story against them.

19 Agus b'fhonn leis na scríobhaithe agus le huachtaráin na sagart a lámha a leagan air an uair sin féin ach eagla an phobail a bheith orthu; óir bhí a fhios acu gur chucu féin a bhí sé nuair a labhair sé an parabal úd.

20 And they kept watch on him, and sent out secret representatives, who were acting the part of good men, in order that they might get something from his words, on account of which they might give him up to the government and into the power of the ruler.

20 Ansin, ag faire na faille dóibh, chuir siad brathadóirí chuige a ligfeadh orthu bheith ina bhfíréin, chun go mbéarfaidís air ina chaint, ionas go dtabharfaí suas é do smacht agus d'údarás an ghobharnóra.

21 And they put a question to him, saying, Master, we are certain that your teaching and your words are right, and that you have no respect for a man's position, but you are teaching the true way of God:

21 Chuir siad ceist air: “A Mháistir,” ar siad, “tá a fhios againn go labhraíonn tú agus go múineann tú an ceart, agus gur cuma leat duine seachas a chéile, ach tú ag múineadh slí Dé de réir na fírinne.

22 Is it right for us to make payment of taxes to Caesar or not?

22 An dleathach dúinn cíos a íoc le Céasar nó an mídhleathach?”

23 But he saw through their trick and said to them,

23 Ach thuig sé a gceilg agus dúirt leo:

24 Let me see a penny. Whose image and name are on it? And they said, Caesar's.

Cé hé a bhfuíl a íomhá air agus a inscríbhinn?”

25 And he said, Then give to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.

25 Er aber sprach: So gebet dem Kaiser, was des Kaisers ist, und Gott, was Gottes ist!

26 And they were not able to get anything from these words before the people: but they were full of wonder at his answer, and said nothing.

26 Agus níor fhéad siad breith air i bhfocal ar bith i bhfianaise an phobail, agus, ó b'ionadh leo a fhreagra, d'fhan siad ina dtost.

27 And some of the Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no coming back from the dead; and they said to him,

28 Master, Moses said that if a man's brother comes to his end, having a wife, but no children, his brother is to take the wife, and get a family for his brother.

29 Now there were seven brothers, and the first had a wife and came to his end, having no children;

29 Or, il y avait sept frères.

29 Sea: bhí seachtar dearthár ann: phós an chéad duine agus fuair bás gan chlann.

30 And the second;

30 Le second et le troisième épousèrent la veuve;

30 An dara duine ansin,

31 And the third took her; and in the same way, all the seven, without having any children, came to their end.

31 agus an tríú duine, ghabh siad an bhaintreach, agus an seachtar ar fad mar an gcéanna; níor fhág siad sliocht agus fuair bás.

Desgleichen alle sieben und hinterließen keine Kinder und starben.

32 And last of all, the woman came to her end.

32 Enfin, la femme mourut aussi.

32 Sa deireadh, fuair an bhean féin bás.

33 When they come back from the dead, whose wife will she be? for all the seven had her.

33 San aiséirí, más ea, cé acu a mbeidh an bhean ina bean chéile aige? Óir bhí sí ina bean chéile ag an seachtar.”

34 And Jesus said to them, The sons of this world are married and have wives;

34 Jésus leur répondit: Les enfants de ce siècle prennent des femmes et des maris;

34 Dúirt Íosa leo: “Gabhann clann an tsaoil seo fear céile nó bean chéile,

34 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Die Kinder dieser Welt freien und lassen sich freien;

35 But those to whom is given the reward of the world to come, and to come back from the dead, have no wives, and are not married;

35 ach iad seo a mheasfar gur fiú iad an saol úd eile a shroicheadh agus an aiséirí ó mhairbh, ní ghabhann siad fear céile ná bean chéile;

36 And death has no more power over them, for they are equal to the angels, and are sons of God, being of those who will come back from the dead.

36 óir ní fhéadann siad bás a fháil níos mó, mar is geall le haingil iad; agus is clann iad do Dhia ós clann iad don aiséirí.

37 But even Moses made it clear that the dead come back to life, saying, in the story of the burning thorn-tree, The Lord, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

38 Now he is not the God of the dead but of the living: for all men are living to him.

38 Ní hé Dia na marbh é, ach na mbeo; óir is dó is beo cách.”

39 And some of the scribes, in answer to this, said, Master, you have said well.

39 Quelques-uns des scribes, prenant la parole, dirent: Maître, tu as bien parlé.

40 And they had fear of putting any more questions to him.

40 Óir níor leomh siad as sin amach ceist ar bith a chur air. Conas is Mac do Dháiví an Críost?

41 And he said to them, Why do they say that the Christ is the son of David?

41 Dúirt sé leo ansin: “Conas is féidir a rá gur Mac do Dháiví an Críost?

42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, Take your seat at my right hand,

42 Óir is é Dáiví féin a deir i Leabhar na Salm: ‘Dúirt an Tiarna le mo Thiarna: Suigh ar mo dheis,

43 Till I put under your feet all those who are against you.

43 nó go gcuirfead do naimhde mar stól faoi do chosa.’

44 David then gives him the name of Lord, so how is it possible for him to be his son?

45 And in the hearing of all the people he said to his disciples,

45 Agus i gcomhchlos don phobal uile dúirt sé lena dheisceabail:

46 Keep away from the scribes, whose pleasure it is to go about in long robes, and to have words of respect said to them in the market-places, and to take the chief seats in the Synagogues and the first places at feasts;

46 Gardez-vous des scribes, qui aiment à se promener en robes longues, et à être salués dans les places publiques; qui recherchent les premiers sièges dans les synagogues, et les premières places dans les festins;

46 “Seachnaígí na scríobhaithe, an dream arb áil leo a bheith ag siúl timpeall sna róbaí fada, agus gur gnaoi leo go mbeifí ag beannú dóibh sna háiteanna poiblí, agus na príomhshuíocháin sna sionagóga agus na príomhthoilg ag na fleánna;

46 Guardaos de los escribas, que quieren andar con ropas largas, y aman las salutaciones en las plazas, y las primeras sillas en las sinagogas, y los primeros asientos en las cenas;

46 Hütet euch vor den Schriftgelehrten, die da wollen einhertreten in langen Kleidern und lassen sich gerne grüßen auf dem Markte und sitzen gern obenan in den Schulen und über Tisch;

47 Who take the property of widows and before the eyes of men make long prayers; they will get a greater punishment.

47 an dream a ídíonn tithe na mbaintreach, ar scáth bheith ag déanamh urnaithe fada. Is daoire an bhreith a gheobhaidh siad seo.”
