Luke 4

1 Now it came about that while the people came pushing to be near him, and to have knowledge of the word of God, he was by a wide stretch of water named Gennesaret;

1 Aon lá amháin, agus an slua ag brú isteach air ag éisteacht le briathar Dé, bhí sé ina sheasamh ar bhruach loch Gheinéasaireit,

2 And he saw two boats by the edge of the water, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets.

2 agus chonaic sé dhá bhád ina luí ar chladach an locha; bhí na hiascairí tar éis teacht amach astu agus iad ag ní na líonta.

3 And he got into one of the boats, the property of Simon, and made a request to him to go a little way out from the land. And being seated he gave the people teaching from the boat.

3 Chuaigh sé isteach i mbád acu, bád Shíomóin, agus d'iarr air tarraingt amach beagán ón talamh: ansin shuigh, agus thosaigh ag teagasc na sluaite as an mbád.

4 And when his talk was ended, he said to Simon, Go out into deep water, and let down your nets for fish.

4 Nuair a stad sé den chaint, dúirt sé le Síomón: “Tarraing amach san uisce domhain agus cuirigí amach bhur líonta ag iascach.”

5 And Simon, answering, said, Master, we were working all night and we took nothing: but at your word I will let down the nets.

5 D'fhreagair Síomón agus dúirt: “A Mháistir, thugamar an oíche go léir ag saothrú agus níor thógamar aon ní; ach i ngeall ar d'fhocalsa, cuirfidh mé amach na líonta.”

6 And when they had done this, they got such a great number of fish that it seemed as if their nets would be broken;

6 Nuair a rinne siad é sin, cheap siad clais mhór éisc. Bhí a gcuid líonta ag briseadh,

7 And they made signs to their friends in the other boat to come to their help. And they came, and the two boats were so full that they were going down.

7 agus sméid siad ar a gcomrádaithe sa bhád eile teacht i gcabhair orthu. Tháinig siad agus líon an dá bhád nó go raibh siad ar tí dul faoi.

8 But Simon, when he saw it, went down at the knees of Jesus and said, Go away from me, O Lord, for I am a sinner.

8 Nuair a chonaic Síomón Peadar é sin, chaith sé é féin ag glúine Íosa ag rá: “Imigh uaim, a Thiarna, mar is peacach mé.”

9 For he was full of wonder and so were all those who were with him, at the number of fish which they had taken;

9 Óir ghabh alltacht é féin agus a chompánaigh uile faoin ngabháil éisc a thóg siad

9 Porque temor le había rodeado, y á todos los que estaban con él, de la presa de los peces que habían tomado;

9 Denn es war ihn ein Schrecken angekommen, ihn und alle, die mit ihm waren, über diesen Fischzug, den sie miteinander getan hatten;

10 And so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were working with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Have no fear; from this time forward you will be a fisher of men.

10 agus mar an gcéanna do Shéamas agus d'Eoin, clann Zeibidé, a bhí i bpáirt le Síomón. Agus dúirt Íosa le Síomón: “Ná bíodh eagla ort, as seo amach is daoine a bheidh tú a ghabháil.”

11 And when they had got their boats to the land, they gave up everything and went after him.

11 Agus tharraing siad na báid aníos ar an trá, d'fhág siad gach uile ní agus lean é.

12 And it came about that while he was in one of the towns, there was a leper there: and when he saw Jesus he went down on his face in prayer to him, saying, Lord, if it is your pleasure, you have power to make me clean.

12 I gcathair áirithe dó, tharla fear ann a bhí lán de lobhra: agus ar fheiceáil Íosa dó, chaith sé é féin ar a bhéal agus rinne impí air á rá: “A Thiarna, más áil leat é, is féidir duit mé a ghlanadh.”

13 And he put out his hand to him and said, It is my pleasure; be clean. And straight away his disease went from him.

13 Agus shín sé amach a lámh agus bhain leis, ag rá: “Is áil, glantar thú!” Agus d'fhág an lobhra é láithreach.

14 And he gave him orders: Say nothing to any man, but let the priest see you and give an offering so that you may be made clean, as the law of Moses says, and for a witness to them.

14 Agus thug sé ordú dó gan a insint d'aon duine: “Ach imigh, taispeáin thú féin don sagart, agus déan an ofráil de chionn do ghlanta de réir mar a d'ordaigh Maois, mar fhianaise dóibh.”

15 But news of him went out all the more, in every direction, and great numbers of people came together to give hearing to his words and to be made well from their diseases.

15 Ba mhóide i gcónaí a bhí an tuairisc air ag leathnú, agus tháinig na daoine ina sluaite móra ag éisteacht leis agus ag fáil leigheas ar a n‑éagruais.

16 But he went away by himself to a waste place for prayer.

16 Ach théadh sé féin i leataobh isteach sna fásaigh agus dhéanadh guí.

17 And it came about that on one of these days he was teaching; and some Pharisees and teachers of the law were seated there, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judaea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was with him, to make those who were ill free from their diseases.

17 Tharla aon lá amháin agus é ag teagasc, go raibh Fairisínigh agus máistrí dlí ina suí ann a bhí tar éis teacht as gach baile sa Ghailíl agus in Iúdáia, agus as Iarúsailéim freisin; agus bhí cumhacht an Tiarna ag tabhairt air bheith ag déanamh leigheas.

18 And some men had with them, on a bed, a man who was ill, without power of moving; and they made attempts to get him in and put him before Jesus.

18 Tháinig fir an treo agus iad ag iompar ar leaba duine a bhí ina phairiliseach, agus bhí siad ag iarraidh é a bhreith isteach agus é a chur ina láthair.

19 And because of the mass of people, there was no way to get him in; so they went up on the top of the house and let him down through the roof, on his bed, into the middle in front of Jesus.

19 Nuair nach bhfuair siad slí chun é a bhreith isteach mar gheall ar an slua, chuaigh siad in airde ar an teach agus scaoil síos trí na leaca é féin agus an réleaba i lár baill os comhair Íosa.

19 Y no hallando por donde meterle á causa de la multitud, subieron encima de la casa, y por el tejado le bajaron con el lecho en medio, delante de Jesús;

20 And seeing their faith he said, Man, you have forgiveness for your sins.

20 Nuair a chonaic sé an creideamh a bhí acu, dúirt: “A dhuine, tá do pheacaí maite duit.”

21 And the scribes and Pharisees were having an argument, saying, Who is this, who has no respect for God? who is able to give forgiveness for sins, but God only?

21 Agus thosaigh na scríobhaithe agus na Fairisínigh ag smaoineamh: “Cé hé seo a labhraíonn diamhaslaí? Cé a fhéadann peacaí a mhaitheamh ach Dia amháin?”

22 But Jesus, who had knowledge of their thoughts, said to them, Why are you reasoning in your hearts?

22 Ach thuig Íosa na smaointe a bhí acu, agus dúirt sé leo á bhfreagairt: “Cad chuige a bhfuil na smaointe seo in bhur gcroí?

23 Which is the simpler: to say, You have forgiveness for your sins; or to say, Get up and go?

23 Cé acu is fusa a rá: ‘Tá do pheacaí maite duit’; nó a rá: ‘Éirigh agus siúil’?

24 But so that you may see that on earth the Son of man has authority for the forgiveness of sins, (he said to the man who was ill,) I say to you, Get up, and take up your bed, and go into your house.

24 Ach chun go mbeadh a fhios agaibh go bhfuil údarás ag Mac an Duine ar an talamh chun peacaí a mhaitheamh - deirim leat,” ar seisean leis an bpairiliseach, “éirigh, tóg leat do réleaba, agus imigh abhaile.”

25 And straight away he got up before them, and took up his bed and went away to his house giving praise to God.

25 Agus ar an mball, d'éirigh seisean ina láthair, thóg suas an rud a bhí faoi, agus chuaigh abhaile ag tabhairt glóire do Dhia.

26 And wonder overcame them all, and they gave glory to God; and they were full of fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.

26 Agus ghabh uafás iad uile, agus bhí siad ag tabhairt glóire do Dhia, agus líon siad d'uamhan agus deiridís: “Tá nithe iontacha feicthe againn inniu.”

27 And after these things he went out, and saw Levi, a tax-farmer, seated at the place where taxes were taken, and said to him, Come after me.

27 Ina dhiaidh sin chuaigh sé amach agus thug faoi deara poibleacánach darb ainm Léiví, ina shuí i dteach an chustaim, agus dúirt leis: “Lean mise.”

28 And giving up his business, he got up and went after him.

29 And Levi made a great feast for him in his house: and a great number of tax-farmers and others were seated at table with them.

30 And the Pharisees and their scribes made protests against his disciples, saying, Why do you take food and drink with tax-farmers and sinners?

30 Agus bhí na Fairisínigh agus a gcuid scríobhaithe ag monabhar, á rá lena dheisceabail: “Cad chuige a bhfuil sibh ag ithe agus ag ól leis na poibleacánaigh agus na peacaigh?”

31 And Jesus, answering, said to them, Those who are well have no need of a medical man, but those who are ill.

31 Agus dúirt Íosa leo á bhfreagairt: “Ní ag na daoine folláine a bhíonn gá le lia, ach ag na daoine tinne.

32 I have come, not to get the upright, but sinners, so that they may be turned from their sins.

32 Ní hiad na fíréin ach na peacaigh a bhfuilim tagtha á nglaoch chun aithrí.” Ceist Faoin Troscadh

32 No he venido á llamar justos, sino pecadores á arrepentimiento.

33 And they said to him, The disciples of John frequently go without food, and make prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees; but your disciples take food and drink.

33 Dúirt siad leis: “Bíonn deisceabail Eoin ag troscadh go minic agus ag déanamh urnaithe, agus deisceabail na bhFairisíneach mar an gcéanna; ach iad seo agatsa, bíonn siad ag ithe agus ag ól.”

34 And Jesus said, Are you able to make the friends of the newly-married man go without food when he is with them?

34 Dúirt Íosa leo: “An féidir libh a thabhairt ar ógánaigh na bainse troscadh a dhéanamh, le linn don fhear nuaphósta bheith leo?

35 But the days will come when he will be taken away from them, and then they will go without food.

35 Ach tiocfaidh na laethanta, agus nuair a bheidh an fear nuaphósta tógtha uathu, ansin déanfaidh siad troscadh sna laethanta sin.”

36 And he said to them, in a story, No man takes a bit of cloth from a new coat and puts it on to an old coat, for so the new coat would be damaged and the bit from the new would not go well with the old.

36 Agus dúirt sé parabal leo: “Ní shracann aon duine píosa as casóg nua lena chur mar phreabán ar sheanchasóg: má dhéanann, beidh an chasóg nua sractha aige, agus fós ní réiteoidh an preabán as an gcasóg nua leis an sean.

37 And no man puts new wine into old wine-skins, for fear that the skins will be burst by the new wine, and the wine be let out, and the skins come to destruction.

37 Et personne ne met du vin nouveau dans de vieilles outres; autrement, le vin nouveau fait rompre les outres, il se répand, et les outres sont perdues;

37 Ná ní chuireann aon duine fíon nua i seanseithí: má chuireann, pléascfaidh an fíón nua na seithí; doirtfear an fíon agus millfear na seithí.

37 Und niemand faßt Most in alte Schläuche; sonst zerreißt der Most die Schläuche und wird verschüttet, und die Schläuche kommen um.

38 But new wine has to be put into new wine-skins.

38 Ach fíon nua i seithí nua is cóir a chur.

39 And no man, having had old wine, has any desire for new, for he says, The old is better.

39 Agus ní áil le haon duine an nua tar éis dó an sean a ól; óir deir sé: ‘Is é an sean an fíon maith.’ ”

Luke 6
