Matthew 24

1 Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, the friends of the bride, who took their lights, and went out with the purpose of meeting the husband.

1 “Is iad dála ríocht na bhflaitheas an uair sin mar a bhí ag deichniúr maighdean a chuaigh amach agus a lampaí acu in airicis an fhir nuaphósta.

2 And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

2 Cúigear díobh seo, bhí siad gan tuiscint agus bhí an cúigear eile ciallmhar;

3 For the foolish, when they took their lights, took no oil with them.

3 Les folles, en prenant leurs lampes, ne prirent point d'huile avec elles;

3 mar, thug na mná gan tuiscint na lampaí leo agus gan aon ola acu,

3 Las que eran fatuas, tomando sus lámparas, no tomaron consigo aceite;

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lights.

5 Now the husband was a long time in coming, and they all went to sleep.

5 Bhí an fear nuaphósta ag déanamh moille, agus tháinig sámhán orthu uile agus thit siad ina gcodladh.

6 But in the middle of the night there is a cry, The husband comes! Go out to him.

6 Ach glaodh i lár na hoíche: ‘Chugaibh an fear nuaphósta! Amach libh ina airicis!’

7 Then all those virgins got up, and made ready their lights.

8 And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lights are going out.

8 Ach dúirt na mná gan tuiscint leis na mná ciallmhara: ‘Tugaigí dúinn braon de bhur n‑olasa, mar tá ár lampaíne in éag.’

9 But the wise made answer, saying, There may not be enough for us and you; it would be better for you to go to the traders and get oil for yourselves.

9 D'fhreagair lucht na céille iad: ‘Le heagla,’ ar siad, ‘nach mbeadh ár ndóthain ann dúinn féin agus daoibhse, b'fhearr daoibhse dul go dtí lucht a díolta á ceannach daoibh féin.’

10 And while they went to get oil, the master came; and those who were ready went in with him to the feast: and the door was shut.

10 Bhí siad ag dul á ceannach nuair a tháinig an fear nuaphósta, agus iad seo a bhí ullamh, chuaigh siad isteach in éineacht leis chun na bainise, agus dúnadh an doras.

11 After that the other virgins came, saying, Lord, Lord, let us in.

12 But he made answer and said, Truly I say to you, I have no knowledge of you.

12 Ach d'fhreagair sé agus dúirt: ‘Deirim libh go fírinneach, níl aithne agam oraibh.’

13 Keep watch, then, because you are not certain of the day or of the hour.

13 Bígí ag faire, dá bhrí sin, mar níl a fhios agaibh an lá ná an uair.

14 For it is as when a man, about to take a journey, got his servants together, and gave them his property.

14 “Ar nós an duine a bhí ag dul ar an gcoigríoch: ghlaoigh sé ar a sheirbhísigh agus thaobhaigh leo a mhaoin;

14 Gleichwie ein Mensch, der über Land zog, rief seine Knechte und tat ihnen seine Güter aus;

15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to everyone as he was able; and he went on his journey.

15 thug cúig thallann do dhuine acu, a dó do dhuine eile, aon tallann amháin do dhuine eile - do gach duine de réir an chumais a bhí ann - agus d'fhág an tír.

16 Straight away he who had been given the five talents went and did trade with them, and made five more.

16 Ní dhearna fear na gcúig thallann aon mhoill gan cur chun gnó leo agus cúig cinn eile a ghnóthú.

17 In the same way he who had been given the two got two more.

17 Mar an gcéanna d'fhear an dá thallann; ghnóthaigh seisean dhá cheann eile.

18 But he who was given the one went away and put it in a hole in the earth, and kept his lord's money in a secret place.

19 Now after a long time the lord of those servants comes, and makes up his account with them.

20 And he who had the five talents came with his other five talents, saying, Lord, you gave into my care five talents: see, I have got five more.

20 Tháinig fear na gcúig thallann ina láthair agus thairg cúig thallann eile aige chuige agus ar seisean: ‘A mháistir, d'fhág tú cúig thallann ar iontaoibh agamsa; seo duit cúig cinn eile a ghnóthaigh mé.’

20 Y llegando el que había recibido cinco talentos, trajo otros cinco talentos, diciendo: Señor, cinco talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros cinco talentos he ganado sobre ellos.

20 Da trat herzu, der fünf Zentner empfangen hatte, und legte andere fünf Zentner dar und sprach: Herr, du hast mir fünf Zentner ausgetan; siehe da, ich habe damit andere fünf Zentner gewonnen.

21 His lord said to him, Well done, good and true servant: you have been true in a small thing, I will give you control over great things: take your part in the joy of your lord.

21 Labhair a mháistir leis: ‘Go han-mhaith; dea-sheirbhíseach iontaofa thú: bhí tú iontaofa i mbun beagán nithe; ceapfaidh mé i do cheann thú ar mhórán; gabh isteach in aoibhneas do thiarna.’

22 And he who had the two talents came and said, Lord, you gave into my care two talents: see, I have got two more.

22 Tháinig ina láthair ansin fear an dá thallann: ‘A mháistir,’ ar seisean, ‘d'fhág tú dhá thallann ar iontaoibh agamsa: seo duit dhá cheann eile a ghnóthaigh mé.’

23 His lord said to him, Well done, good and true servant: you have been true in a small thing, I will give you control over great things: take your part in the joy of your lord.

23 Labhair a mháistir leis: ‘Go han-mhaith: dea-sheirbhíseach iontaofa thú; bhí tú iontaofa i mbun beagán nithe; ceapfaidh mé i do cheann thú ar mhórán: gabh isteach in aoibhneas do thiarna.’

24 And he who had had the one talent came and said, Lord, I had knowledge that you are a hard man, getting in grain where you have not put seed, and making profits for which you have done no work:

24 Celui qui n'avait reçu qu'un talent s'approcha ensuite, et il dit: Seigneur, je savais que tu es un homme dur, qui moissonnes où tu n'as pas semé, et qui amasses où tu n'as pas vanné;

24 Tháinig ina láthair ansin an fear a fuair an t‑aon tallann amháin: ‘A mháistir,’ ar seisean, ‘bhí aithne agam ort gur duine crua thú, ag baint fómhair san áit nár chuir tú síol, agus ag cnuasach as an áit nach ndearna tú scaipeadh;

24 Y llegando también el que había recibido un talento, dijo: Señor, te conocía que eres hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste, y recoges donde no esparciste;

24 Da trat auch herzu, der einen Zentner empfangen hatte, und sprach: Herr, ich wußte, das du ein harter Mann bist: du schneidest, wo du nicht gesät hast, und sammelst, wo du nicht gestreut hast;

25 And I was in fear, and went away, and put your talent in the earth: here is what is yours.

25 agus le barr eagla, chuaigh mé ag cur do thallainne i bhfolach sa talamh. Seo duit í: tá do chuid féin agat.’

26 But his lord in answer said to him, You are a bad and unready servant; if you had knowledge that I get in grain where I did not put seed, and make profits for which I have done no work,

26 Son maître lui répondit: Serviteur méchant et paresseux, tu savais que je moissonne où je n'ai pas semé, et que j'amasse où je n'ai pas vanné;

26 Dúirt a mháistir leis á fhreagairt: ‘Drochsheirbhíseach leisciúil thú! Bhí a fhios agat go mbainim fómhar san áit nár chuir mé síol agus go gcnuasaím as an áit nach ndearna mé scaipeadh:

26 Y respondiendo su señor, le dijo: Malo y negligente siervo, sabías que siego donde no sembré y que recojo donde no esparcí;

27 Why, then, did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I would have got back what is mine with interest?

28 Take away, then, his talent and give it to him who has the ten talents.

28 Otez-lui donc le talent, et donnez-le à celui qui a les dix talents.

28 Bainigí de an tallann agus tugaigí í don duine a bhfuil na deich dtallann aige,

29 For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have more: but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

29 Car on donnera à celui qui a, et il sera dans l'abondance, mais à celui qui n'a pas on ôtera même ce qu'il a.

29 óir, gach aon duine a mbíonn ní aige, tabharfar dó agus beidh fuílleach aige, ach an té a bhíonn gan ní, fiú amháin a mbíonn aige bainfear de é.

30 And put out the servant who is of no profit into the outer dark: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.

30 Agus an seirbhíseach úd gan aird, caitear amach sa dorchadas é: is ann a bheidh gol agus díoscán fiacla.’ An Breithiúnas Deireanach

31 But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then will he be seated in his glory:

31 “Nuair a thiocfaidh Mac an Duine ina ghlóir agus na haingil uile in éineacht leis, rachaidh sé ina shuí an uair sin i ríchathaoir a ghlóire.

32 And before him all the nations will come together; and they will be parted one from another, as the sheep are parted from the goats by the keeper.

32 Toutes les nations seront assemblées devant lui. Il séparera les uns d'avec les autres, comme le berger sépare les brebis d'avec les boucs;

33 And he will put the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.

33 Cuirfidh sé na caoirigh ar a láimh dheis agus na gabhair ar a láimh chlé.

34 Then will the King say to those on his right, Come, you who have the blessing of my Father, into the kingdom made ready for you before the world was:

34 Ansin déarfaidh an rí le lucht na láimhe deise: ‘Tagaigí, a lucht bheannaithe m'Athar, glacaigí mar oidhreacht an ríocht a ullmhaíodh daoibh ó thúsú an domhain.

35 For I was in need of food, and you gave it to me: I was in need of drink, and you gave it to me: I was wandering, and you took me in;

35 Car j'ai eu faim, et vous m'avez donné à manger; j'ai eu soif, et vous m'avez donné à boire; j'étais étranger, et vous m'avez recueilli;

35 Óir bhí ocras orm agus thug sibh rud le hithe dom, bhí tart orm agus thug sibh rud le hól dom, bhí mé i mo strainséir agus thug sibh aíocht dom,

35 Porque tuve hambre, y me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y me disteis de beber; fuí huésped, y me recogisteis;

36 I had no clothing, and you gave it to me: when I was ill, or in prison, you came to me.

36 bhí mé nocht agus chuir sibh éadach orm, bhí mé tinn agus tháinig sibh do m'fheiceáil, bhí mé i bpríosún agus thug sibh cuairt orm.’

37 Then will the upright make answer to him, saying, Lord, when did we see you in need of food, and give it to you? or in need of drink, and give it to you?

37 Freagróidh na fíréin é ansin: ‘A Thiarna, cén uair a chonaiceamar thú agus ocras ort go dtabharfaimis bia duit, nó tart ort go dtabharfaimis deoch duit?

38 And when did we see you wandering, and take you in? or without clothing, and give it to you?

38 Quand t'avons-nous vu étranger, et t'avons-nous recueilli; ou nu, et t'avons-nous vêtu?

38 Cén uair a chonaiceamar i do strainséir thú go dtabharfaimis aíocht duit, nó nocht go gcuirfimis éadach ort?

39 And when did we see you ill, or in prison, and come to you?

39 Quand t'avons-nous vu malade, ou en prison, et sommes-nous allés vers toi?

39 Nó cén uair a chonaiceamar tinn thú, nó i bpríosún, go dtabharfaimis cuairt ort?’

40 And the King will make answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Because you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.

40 Agus déarfaidh an rí á bhfreagairt: ‘Deirim libh go fírinneach, sa mhéid go ndearna sibh é do dhuine den chuid is lú de na bráithre seo agamsa, is domsa a rinne sibh é.’

41 Then will he say to those on the left, Go from me, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire which is ready for the Evil One and his angels:

42 For I was in need of food, and you gave it not to me; I was in need of drink, and you gave it not to me:

42 Car j'ai eu faim, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à manger; j'ai eu soif, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à boire;

42 Óir bhí ocras orm agus níor thug sibh aon rud le hithe dom, bhí tart orm agus níor thug sibh aon rud le hól dom,

42 Porque tuve hambre, y no me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y no me disteis de beber;

43 I was wandering, and you took me not in; without clothing, and you gave me no clothing; ill, and in prison, and you came not to me.

43 bhí mé i mo strainséir agus níor thug sibh aíocht dom, bhí mé nocht agus níor chuir sibh aon éadach orm, bhí mé tinn agus i bpríosún agus níor tháinig sibh do m'fheiceáil.’

44 Then will they make answer, saying, Lord, when did we see you in need of food or drink, or wandering, or without clothing, or ill, or in prison, and did not take care of you?

44 Agus freagróidh siad sin é ansin: ‘A Thiarna, cén uair a bhí tú le feiceáil againn agus ocras nó tart ort, nó i do strainséir, nó nocht nó tinn nó i bpríosún agus nach ndearnamar freastal ort?’

45 Then will he make answer to them, saying, Truly I say to you, Because you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to me.

45 Ansin freagróidh sé iad: ‘Deirim libh go fírinneach, sa mhéid nach ndearna sibh é do dhuine den chuid is lú díobh seo, ní dhearna sibh domsa é ach oiread.’

46 And these will go away into eternal punishment; but the upright into eternal life.

46 Agus imeoidh siad leo, iad seo isteach i bpionós síoraí, ach na fíréin i mbeatha shíoraí.”
