Zechariah 1

1 And lifting up my eyes, I saw a man with a measuring-line in his hand.

Is amhlaidh a bhí fear a raibh dorú tomhais ina láimh aige le feiceáil agam.

2 And I said to him, Where are you going? And he said to me, To take the measure of Jerusalem, to see how wide and how long it is.

“Chun Iarúsailéim a thomhas,” ar seisean liom, “féachaint cad é a leithead agus a fad.”

2 Y díjele: ¿A dónde vas?

3 And the angel who was talking to me went out, and another angel went out, and, meeting him,

3 Ansin d'fhan an t-aingeal a bhí ag caint liom ina sheasamh agus tháinig aingeal eile chuige

4 Said to him, Go quickly and say to this young man, Jerusalem will be an unwalled town, because of the great number of men and cattle in her.

4 Il lui dit: Cours, parle à ce jeune homme, et dis: Jérusalem sera une ville ouverte, à cause de la multitude d'hommes et de bêtes qui seront au milieu d'elle;

4 agus dúirt sé leis: “Rith leat agus abair leis an ógánach sin go gcaithfear Iarúsailéim a fhágáil gan bhallaí mar gheall ar oll-líon na ndaoine agus na mbeithíoch a bheidh inti.

5 For I, says the Lord, will be a wall of fire round about her, and I will be the glory inside her.

5 ‘Óir beidh mise thart timpeall uirthi mar bhalla tine,’ a deir an Tiarna, ‘agus beidh mé mar ghlóir di ina lár.’

5 Und ich will, spricht der HERR, eine feurige Mauer umher sein und will mich herrlich darin erzeigen.

6 Ho, ho! go in flight from the land of the north, says the Lord: for I have sent you far and wide to the four winds of heaven, says the Lord.

Teithigí ón tír thuaidh, a deir an Tiarna, óir táim tar éis sibhse a scaipeadh faoi cheithre aird na cruinne, a deir an Tiarna.

7 Ho! Zion, go in flight from danger, you who are living with the daughter of Babylon.

7 Hóigh!, a Shíón, sábháil thú féin, tusa a chonaíonn sa Bhablóin;

8 For this is what the Lord of armies has said: In the way of glory he has sent me to the nations which have taken your goods: for anyone touching you is touching what is most dear to him.

8 Mar seo a labhraíonn Tiarna na Slua, an té a chuir uaidh mé tar éis dom a ghlóir a fheiceáil, i dtaobh na náisiún a rinne slad oraibh: - óir aon duine a bhaineann libhse, baineann sé le himreasc a shúile -

9 For at the shaking of my hand over them, their goods will be taken by those who were their servants: and you will see that the Lord of armies has sent me.

9 Féach, táim ag bagairt mo dhoirn ina n-aghaidh, agus déanfaidh a gcuid sclábhaithe slad orthu. Beidh a fhios agaibhse ansin gurbh é Tiarna na Slua a chuir uaidh mé.

10 Give songs of joy, O daughter of Zion: for I come, and I will make my resting-place among you, says the Lord.

10 Abair amhrán agus déan gairdeas, a iníon Shíón; óir, féach, táimse ag teacht chun cónaí a dhéanamh i do lár, a deir an Tiarna.

11 And a number of nations will be joined to the Lord in that day, and will become my people; and I will be living among you, and you will see that the Lord of armies has sent me to you.

11 Ceanglófar a lán náisiún leis an Tiarna an lá sin; beidh siad ina bpobal aige, agus cónóidh sé in bhur measc, agus aithneoidh tú gurbh é Tiarna na Slua a chuir chugat mé.

12 And Judah will be the Lord's heritage in the holy land, and Jerusalem will again be his.

13 Let all flesh be quiet and make no sound before the Lord: for he is awake and has come from his holy resting-place.

13 Bíodh gach duine ina thost i láthair an Tiarna; óir, tá sé ag éirí chun teacht amach as a áitreabh naofa.
