1 I will take my position and be on watch, placing myself on my tower, looking out to see what he will say to me, and what answer he will give to my protest.

1 SOBRE mi guarda estaré, y sobre la fortaleza afirmaré el pie, y atalayaré para ver qué hablará en mí, y qué tengo de responder á mi pregunta.
1 Hier stehe ich auf meiner Hut und trete auf meine Feste und schaue und sehe zu, was mir gesagt werde, und was meine Antwort sein sollte auf mein Rechten.
2 And the Lord gave me an answer, and said, Put the vision in writing and make it clear on stones, so that the reader may go quickly.

2 Der HERR aber antwortet mir und spricht: Schreib das Gesicht und male es auf eine Tafel, daß es lesen könne, wer vorüberläuft!
3 For the vision is still for the fixed time, and it is moving quickly to the end, and it will not be false: even if it is slow in coming, go on waiting for it; because it will certainly come, it will not be kept back.
3 Car c'est une prophétie dont le temps est déjà fixé, Elle marche vers son terme, et elle ne mentira pas; Si elle tarde, attends-la, Car elle s'accomplira, elle s'accomplira certainement.

3 Aunque la visión tardará aún por tiempo, mas al fin hablará, y no mentirá: aunque se tardare, espéralo, que sin duda vendrá; no tardará.
3 Die Weissagung wird ja noch erfüllt werden zu seiner Zeit und endlich frei an den Tag kommen und nicht ausbleiben. Ob sie aber verzieht, so harre ihrer: sie wird gewiß kommen und nicht verziehen.
4 As for the man of pride, my soul has no pleasure in him; but the upright man will have life through his good faith.
4 Voici, son âme s'est enflée, elle n'est pas droite en lui; Mais le juste vivra par sa foi.

4 He aquí se enorgullece aquel cuya alma no es derecha en él: mas el justo en su fe vivirá.

5 A curse on the cruel and false one! the man full of pride, who never has enough; who makes his desires wide as the underworld! he is like death; he is never full, but he makes all nations come to him, getting all peoples together to himself.
5 Pareil à celui qui est ivre et arrogant, L'orgueilleux ne demeure pas tranquille; Il élargit sa bouche comme le séjour des morts, Il est insatiable comme la mort; Il attire à lui toutes les nations, Il assemble auprès de lui tous les peuples.

5 Y también, por cuanto peca por el vino, es un hombre soberbio, y no permanecerá: que ensanchó como el infierno su alma, y es como la muerte, que no se hartará: antes reunió á sí todas las gentes, y amontonó á sí todos los pueblos.
5 Aber der Wein betrügt den stolzen Mann, daß er nicht rasten kann, welcher seine Seele aufsperrt wie die Hölle und ist gerade wie der Tod, der nicht zu sättigen ist, sondern rafft zu sich alle Heiden und sammelt zu sich alle Völker.

6 Ne sera-t-il pas pour tous un sujet de sarcasme, De railleries et d'énigmes? On dira: Malheur à celui qui accumule ce qui n'est pas à lui! Jusques à quand?... Malheur à celui qui augmente le fardeau de ses dettes!

6 ¿No han de levantar todos estos sobre él parábola, y sarcasmos contra él? Y dirán: ¡Ay del que multiplicó lo que no era suyo! ¿Y hasta cuándo había de amontonar sobre sí espeso lodo?

7 Tes créanciers ne se lèveront-ils pas soudain? Tes oppresseurs ne se réveilleront-ils pas? Et tu deviendras leur proie.
7 Nach n‑éireoidh do chreidiúnaithe go tobann? Nach ndúiseoidh siad siúd a chuirfidh ar ballchrith thú? Ansin creachfaidh siad thú.
7 ¿No se levantarán de repente los que te han de morder, y se despertarán los que te han de quitar de tu lugar, y serás á ellos por rapiña?
7 O wie plötzlich werden aufstehen die dich beißen, und erwachen, die dich wegstoßen! und du mußt ihnen zuteil werden.
8 Because you have taken their goods from great nations, all the rest of the peoples will take your goods from you; because of men's blood and violent acts against the land and the town and all who are living in it.
8 Parce que tu as pillé beaucoup de nations, Tout le reste des peuples te pillera; Car tu as répandu le sang des hommes, Tu as commis des violences dans le pays, Contre la ville et tous ses habitants.

8 Porque tú has despojado muchas gentes, todos los otros pueblos te despojarán; á causa de las sangres humanas, y robos de la tierra, de las ciudades y de todos los que moraban en ellas.
8 Denn du hast viele Heiden beraubt; so werden dich wieder berauben alle übrigen von den Völkern um des Menschenbluts willen und um des Frevels willen, im Lande und in der Stadt und an allen, die darin wohnen, begangen.

9 Malheur à celui qui amasse pour sa maison des gains iniques, Afin de placer son nid dans un lieu élevé, Pour se garantir de la main du malheur!

10 Aber dein Ratschlag wird zur Schande deines Hauses geraten; denn du hast zu viele Völker zerschlagen und hast mit allem Mutwillen gesündigt.

12 A curse on him who is building a place with blood, and basing a town on evil-doing!
12 Malheur à celui qui bâtit une ville avec le sang, Qui fonde une ville avec l'iniquité!

12 ¡Ay del que edifica la ciudad con sangres, y del que funda la villa con iniquidad!

13 Voici, quand l'Éternel des armées l'a résolu, Les peuples travaillent pour le feu, Les nations se fatiguent en vain.

13 Wird's nicht also vom HERRN Zebaoth geschehen: was die Völker gearbeitet haben, muß mit Feuer verbrennen, und daran die Leute müde geworden sind, das muß verloren sein?
14 For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the sea is covered by the waters.
14 Car la terre sera remplie de la connaissance de la gloire de l'Éternel, Comme le fond de la mer par les eaux qui le couvrent.

14 Porque la tierra será llena de conocimiento de la gloria de Jehová, como las aguas cubren la mar.

15 A curse on him who gives his neighbour the wine of his wrath, making him overcome with strong drink from the cup of his passion, so that you may be a witness of their shame!
15 Malheur à celui qui fait boire son prochain, A toi qui verses ton outre et qui l'enivres, Afin de voir sa nudité!

15 ¡Ay del que da de beber á sus compañeros, que les acercas tu hiel y embriagas, para mirar sus desnudeces!
15 Weh dir, der du deinem Nächsten einschenkst und mischest deinen Grimm darunter und ihn trunken machst, daß du sein Blöße sehest!
16 You are full of shame in place of glory: take your part in the drinking, and let your shame be uncovered: the cup of the Lord's right hand will come round to you and your glory will be covered with shame.
16 Tu seras rassasié de honte plus que de gloire; Bois aussi toi-même, et découvre-toi! La coupe de la droite de l'Éternel se tournera vers toi, Et l'ignominie souillera ta gloire.
16 Tá tú líonta le náire in ionad na glóire. Ól tú féin chomh maith agus nocht d'fhorchraiceann. Tiocfaidh an cupán chugat ó dheasláimh an Tiarna agus cuirfidh an náire scáil ar do ghlóir.
16 Haste llenado de deshonra más que de honra: bebe tú también, y serás descubierto; el cáliz de la mano derecha de Jehová volverá sobre ti, y vómito de afrenta sobre tu gloria.
16 Du hast dich gesättigt mit Schande und nicht mit Ehre. So saufe du nun auch, daß du taumelst! denn zu dir wird umgehen der Kelch in der Rechten des HERRN, und mußt eitel Schande haben für deine Herrlichkeit.
17 For the violent acts against Lebanon will come on you, and the destruction of the cattle will be a cause of fear to you, because of men's blood and the violent acts against the land and the town and all who are living in it.
17 Car les violences contre le Liban retomberont sur toi, Et les ravages des bêtes t'effraieront, Parce que tu as répandu le sang des hommes, Et commis des violences dans le pays, Contre la ville et tous ses habitants.
17 Mar bascfar thú de dheasca na hainíde a thug tú ar an Liobáin agus beidh díothú na n‑ainmhithe ina ábhar scéine duit, mar gheall ar an bhfuil dhaonna a dhoirt tú agus de dheasca an fhoréigin a d'imir tú ar an tír, ar an gcathair agus ar gach duine dá gcónaíonn inti.
17 Porque la rapiña del Líbano caerá sobre ti, y la destrucción de las fieras lo quebrantará; á causa de las sangres humanas, y del robo de la tierra, de las ciudades, y de todos los que en ellas moraban.
17 Denn der Frevel, am Libanon begangen, wird dich überfallen, und die verstörten Tiere werden dich schrecken um des Menschenbluts willen und um des Frevels willen, im Lande und in der Stadt und an allen, die darin wohnen, begangen.
18 What profit is the pictured image to its maker? and as for the metal image, the false teacher, why does its maker put his faith in it, making false gods without a voice?
18 A quoi sert une image taillée, pour qu'un ouvrier la taille? A quoi sert une image en fonte et qui enseigne le mensonge, Pour que l'ouvrier qui l'a faite place en elle sa confiance, Tandis qu'il fabrique des idoles muettes?
18 Cén tairbhe é íomhá ghreanta le go ndealbhódh a déantóír í chor ar bith? nó dealbh teilgthe, oracal bréagach, le go gcuirfeadh a déantóir a mhuinín inti agus gan ach dealbha balbha á ndéanamh aige? In Aghaidh an Íoladhartha
18 ¿De qué sirve la escultura que esculpió el que la hizo? ¿la estatua de fundición, que enseña mentira, para que haciendo imágenes mudas confíe el hacedor en su obra?
18 Was wird dann helfen das Bild, das sein Meister gebildet hat, und das falsche gegossene Bild, darauf sich verläßt sein Meister, daß er stumme Götzen machte?
19 A curse on him who says to the wood, Awake! to the unbreathing stone, Up! let it be a teacher! See, it is plated with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all inside it.
19 Malheur à celui qui dit au bois: Lève-toi! A une pierre muette: Réveille-toi! Donnera-t-elle instruction? Voici, elle est garnie d'or et d'argent, Mais il n'y a point en elle un esprit qui l'anime.
19 Is mairg don fhear a deir le smután adhmaid: “Múscail thú féin”; agus leis an gcloch bhalbh: “Éirigh.” An féidir le rud mar sin oracal a thabhairt uaidh? Féach, tá sé clúdaithe le hór agus le hairgead ach níl puth anála ann.
19 ¡Ay del que dice al palo; Despiértate; y á la piedra muda: Levántate! ¿Podrá él enseñar? He aquí él está cubierto de oro y plata, y no hay dentro de él espíritu.
19 Weh dem, der zum Holz spricht: Wache auf! und zum stummen Steine: Stehe auf! Wie sollte es lehren? Siehe, es ist mit Gold und Silber überzogen und ist kein Odem in ihm.
20 But the Lord is in his holy Temple: let all the earth be quiet before him.
20 L'Éternel est dans son saint temple. Que toute la terre fasse silence devant lui!
