1 Darius was pleased to put over the kingdom a hundred and twenty captains, who were to be all through the kingdom;

2 And over them were three chief rulers, of whom Daniel was one; and the captains were to be responsible to the chief rulers, so that the king might undergo no loss.
2 Il mit à leur tête trois chefs, au nombre desquels était Daniel, afin que ces satrapes leur rendissent compte, et que le roi ne souffrît aucun dommage.

2 Y sobre ellos tres presidentes, de los cuales Daniel era el uno, á quienes estos gobernadores diesen cuenta, porque el rey no recibiese daño.
2 Über diese setzte er drei Fürsten, deren einer Daniel war, welchen die Landvögte sollten Rechnung tun, daß der König keinen Schaden litte.
3 Then this Daniel did his work better than the chief rulers and the captains, because there was a special spirit in him; and it was the king's purpose to put him over all the kingdom.
3 Daniel surpassait les chefs et les satrapes, parce qu'il y avait en lui un esprit supérieur; et le roi pensait à l'établir sur tout le royaume.
3 Chinn an Dainéil céanna ar na huachtaráin agus ar na satraip tríd an spiorad éachtach a bhí ann i dtreo gur bheartaigh an rí é a chur os cionn a ríochta uile.
3 Pero el mismo Daniel era superior á estos gobernadores y presidentes, porque había en él más abundancia de espíritu: y el rey pensaba de ponerlo sobre todo el reino.
3 Daniel aber übertraf die Fürsten und Landvögte alle, denn es war ein hoher Geist in ihm; darum gedachte der König, ihn über das ganze Königreich zu setzen.
4 Then the chief rulers and the captains were looking for some cause for putting Daniel in the wrong in connection with the kingdom, but they were unable to put forward any wrongdoing or error against him; because he was true, and no error or wrong was to be seen in him.
4 Alors les chefs et les satrapes cherchèrent une occasion d'accuser Daniel en ce qui concernait les affaires du royaume. Mais ils ne purent trouver aucune occasion, ni aucune chose à reprendre, parce qu'il était fidèle, et qu'on apercevait chez lui ni faute, ni rien de mauvais.
4 Ansin chrom na huachtaráin agus na satraip ar chúis stáit a lorg le cur i leith Dhainéil, ach níor éirigh leo cúis ná locht a aimsiú, bhí sé chomh dílis sin, ná ní bhfuarthas faillí ná dearmad le cur ina leith.
4 Entonces los presidentes y gobernadores buscaban ocasiones contra Daniel por parte del reino; mas no podían hallar alguna ocasión ó falta, porque él era fiel, y ningún vicio ni falta fué en él hallado.
4 Derhalben trachteten die Fürsten und Landvögte darnach, wie sie eine Sache an Daniel fänden, die wider das Königreich wäre. Aber sie konnten keine Sache noch Übeltat finden; denn er war treu, daß man ihm keine Schuld noch Übeltat an ihm finden mochte.
5 Then these men said, We will only get a reason for attacking Daniel in connection with the law of his God.
5 Et ces hommes dirent: Nous ne trouverons aucune occasion contre ce Daniel, à moins que nous n'en trouvions une dans la loi de son Dieu.
5 Ansin dúirt an mhuintir seo: “Ní bhfaighimid cúis ar bith le cur i leith an Dainéil seo, mura bhfaighimid sin i gcúrsaí dlí a Dhé.”
5 Entonces dijeron aquellos hombres: No hallaremos contra este Daniel ocasión alguna, si no la hallamos contra él en la ley de su Dios.
5 Da sprachen die Männer: Wir werden keine Sache an Daniel finden außer seinem Gottesdienst.
6 Then these chief rulers and the captains came to the king and said to him, O King Darius, have life for ever.
6 Puis ces chefs et ces satrapes se rendirent tumultueusement auprès du roi, et lui parlèrent ainsi: Roi Darius, vis éternellement!
6 Ansin [bhrúcht] na huachtaráin agus na satraip seo isteach i láthair an rí agus labhair siad leis mar a leanas: “A rí Dáire, fad gach aon fhaid ar do shaol!
6 Entonces estos gobernadores y presidentes se juntaron delante del rey, y le dijeron así: Rey Darío, para siempre vive:
6 Da kamen die Fürsten und Landvögte zuhauf vor den König und sprachen zu ihm also: Der König Darius lebe ewiglich!
7 All the chief rulers of the kingdom, the chiefs and the captains, the wise men and the rulers, have made a common decision to put in force a law having the king's authority, and to give a strong order, that whoever makes any request to any god or man but you, O King, for thirty days, is to be put into the lions' hole.
7 Tous les chefs du royaume, les intendants, les satrapes, les conseillers, et les gouverneurs sont d'avis qu'il soit publié un édit royal, avec une défense sévère, portant que quiconque, dans l'espace de trente jours, adressera des prières à quelque dieu ou à quelque homme, excepté à toi, ô roi, sera jeté dans la fosse aux lions.
7 Uachtaráin do ríochta, ceannairí, satraip, airí agus rialtóirí - táimidne uile d'aonaigne gur chóir don rí reacht a rith agus ordú mar a leanas a fhógairt: Cibé a iarrfaidh achainí ar bith ar aon Dia nó ar aon duine ach ortsa amháin ar feadh tríocha lá, é a theilgean isteach in uaimh na leon.
7 Todos los presidentes del reino, magistrados, gobernadores, grandes y capitanes, han acordado por consejo promulgar un real edicto, y confirmarlo, que cualquiera que demandare petición de cualquier dios ú hombre en el espacio de treinta días, sino de ti, oh rey, sea echado en el foso de los leones.
7 Es haben die Fürsten des Königreichs, die Herren, die Landvögte, die Räte und Hauptleute alle Gedacht, daß man einen königlichen Befehl soll ausgehen lassen und ein strenges Gebot stellen, daß, wer in dreißig Tagen etwas bitten wird von irgend einem Gott oder Menschen außer dir, König, allein, solle zu den Löwen in den Graben geworfen werden.
8 Now, O King, put the order in force, signing the writing so that it may not be changed, like the law of the Medes and Persians which may not come to an end.
8 Maintenant, ô roi, confirme la défense, et écris le décret, afin qu'il soit irrévocable, selon la loi des Mèdes et des Perses, qui est immuable.
8 Anois, a rí, tabhair feidhm dlí don ordú agus sínigh an chairt i dtreo nach féidir athrú a dhul air de réir dhlí na Méideach agus na bPeirseach, nach féidir a chur ar ceal.”
8 Ahora, oh rey, confirma el edicto, y firma la escritura, para que no se pueda mudar, conforme á la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no se revoca.
8 Darum, lieber König, sollst du solch Gebot bestätigen und dich unterschreiben, auf daß es nicht geändert werde, nach dem Rechte der Meder und Perser, welches niemand aufheben darf.
9 For this reason King Darius put his name on the writing and the order.
9 Là-dessus le roi Darius écrivit le décret et la défense.
9 Uime sin shínigh an rí Dáire an chairt agus an reacht.
9 Firmó pues el rey Darío la escritura y el edicto.
9 Also unterschrieb sich der König Darius.
10 And Daniel, on hearing that the writing had been signed, went into his house; (now he had windows in his room on the roof opening in the direction of Jerusalem;) and three times a day he went down on his knees in prayer and praise before his God, as he had done before.
10 Lorsque Daniel sut que le décret était écrit, il se retira dans sa maison, où les fenêtres de la chambre supérieure étaient ouvertes dans la direction de Jérusalem; et trois fois le jour il se mettait à genoux, il priait, et il louait son Dieu, comme il le faisait auparavant.
10 Nuair a thuig Dainéil gur síníodh an chairt, chuaigh sé chun a thí mar a raibh fuinneoga aige ina sheomra uachtarach oscailte i dtreo Iarúsailéim; trí huaire sa lá théadh sé ar a ghlúine ag guí Dé agus á mholadh, mar ba ghnáth leis roimhe sin.
10 Y Daniel, cuando supo que la escritura estaba firmada, entróse en su casa, y abiertas las ventanas de su cámara que estaban hacia Jerusalem, hincábase de rodillas tres veces al día, y oraba, y confesaba delante de su Dios, como lo solía hacer antes.
10 Als nun Daniel erfuhr, daß solch Gebot unterschrieben wäre, ging er hinein in sein Haus (er hatte aber an seinem Söller offene Fenster gegen Jerusalem); und er fiel des Tages dreimal auf seine Kniee, betete, lobte und dankte seinem Gott, wie er denn bisher zu tun pflegte.
11 Then these men were watching and saw Daniel making prayers and requesting grace before his God.
11 Alors ces hommes entrèrent tumultueusement, et ils trouvèrent Daniel qui priait et invoquait son Dieu.
11 Ansin [bhrúcht] an mhuintir seo chuige agus fuair siad Dainéil ag guí is ag achainí i láthair a Dhé.
11 Entonces se juntaron aquellos hombres, y hallaron á Daniel orando y rogando delante de su Dios.
11 Da kamen diese Männer zuhauf und fanden Daniel beten und flehen vor seinem Gott.
12 Then they came near before the king and said, O King, have you not put your name to an order that any man who makes a request to any god or man but you, O King, for thirty days, is to be put into the lions' hole? The king made answer and said, The thing is fixed by the law of the Medes and Persians which may not come to an end.
12 Puis ils se présentèrent devant le roi, et lui dirent au sujet de la défense royale: N'as-tu pas écrit une défense portant que quiconque dans l'espace de trente jours adresserait des prières à quelque dieu ou à quelque homme, excepté à toi, ô roi, serait jeté dans la fosse aux lions? Le roi répondit: La chose est certaine, selon la loi des Mèdes et des Perses, qui est immuable.
12 Ansin tháinig siad isteach i láthair an rí i dtaobh an reachta agus dúirt siad leis: “A rí, nár shínigh tú reacht, cibé a dhéanfadh achainí chun dé nó duine ach chugatsa amháin, a rí, ar feadh tríocha lá, go dteilgfí é in uaimh na leon.” D'fhreagair an rí: “Tá an scéal socair de réir dhlí na Méideach agus na bPeirseach, nach féidir a chur ar ceal.”
12 Llegáronse luego, y hablaron delante del rey acerca del edicto real: ¿No has confirmado edicto que cualquiera que pidiere á cualquier dios ú hombre en el espacio de treinta días, excepto á ti, oh rey, fuese echado en el foso de los leones? Respondió el rey y dijo: Verdad es, conforme á la ley de Media y de Persia, la cual no se abroga.
12 Und traten hinzu und redeten mit dem König von dem königlichen Gebot: Herr König, hast du nicht ein Gebot unterschrieben, daß, wer in dreißig Tagen etwas bitten würde von irgend einem Gott oder Menschen außer dir, König, allein, solle zu den Löwen in den Graben geworfen werden? Der König antwortete und sprach: Es ist wahr, und das Recht der Meder und Perser soll niemand aufheben.
13 Then they made answer and said before the king, Daniel, one of the prisoners of Judah, has no respect for you, O King, or for the order signed by you, but three times a day he makes his prayer to God.
13 Ils prirent de nouveau la parole et dirent au roi: Daniel, l'un des captifs de Juda, n'a tenu aucun compte de toi, ô roi, ni de la défense que tu as écrite, et il fait sa prière trois fois le jour.
13 Ansin dúirt siad leis an rí: “An Dainéil úd, duine de na díbearthaigh ó Iúdá, níl aird aige ortsa, a rí, ná ar an reacht atá sínithe agat; trí huaire sa lá a dhéanann sé a achainí.”
13 Entonces respondieron y dijeron delante del rey: Daniel que es de los hijos de la cautividad de los Judíos, no ha hecho cuenta de ti, oh rey, ni del edicto que confirmaste; antes tres veces al día hace su petición.
13 Sie antworteten und sprachen vor dem König: Daniel, der Gefangenen aus Juda einer, der achtet weder dich noch dein Gebot, das du verzeichnet hast; denn er betet des Tages dreimal.
14 When this thing came to the king's ears, it was very evil to him, and his heart was fixed on keeping Daniel safe, and till the going down of the sun he was doing everything in his power to get him free.
14 Le roi fut très affligé quand il entendit cela; il prit à coeur de délivrer Daniel, et jusqu'au coucher du soleil il s'efforça de le sauver.
14 Ar chloisteáil na mbriathra sin don rí, tháinig suaitheadh air agus bheartaigh sé Dainéil a shaoradh. Go fuineadh néil nóna rinne sé a dhícheall é a shaoradh.
14 El rey entonces, oyendo el negocio, pesóle en gran manera, y sobre Daniel puso cuidado para librarlo; y hasta puestas del sol trabajó para librarle.
14 Da der König solches hörte, ward er sehr betrübt und tat großen Fleiß, daß er Daniel erlöste, und mühte sich bis die Sonne unterging, daß er ihn errettete.
15 Then these men said to the king, Be certain, O King, that by the law of the Medes and Persians no order or law which the king has put into force may be changed.
15 Mais ces hommes insistèrent auprès du roi, et lui dirent: Sache, ô roi, que la loi des Mèdes et des Perses exige que toute défense ou tout décret confirmé par le roi soit irrévocable.
15 Ansin tháinig an mhuintir seo [ina slua] chun an rí agus dúirt siad: “Bíodh a fhios agat, a rí, de réir dhlí na Méideach agus na bPeirseach, nach féidir aon reacht ná órdú a dhéanann an rí a chur ar ceal.”
15 Empero aquellos hombres se reunieron cerca del rey, y dijeron al rey: Sepas, oh rey, que es ley de Media y de Persia, que ningún decreto ú ordenanza que el rey confirmare pueda mudarse.
15 Aber die Männer kamen zuhauf zu dem König und sprachen zu ihm: Du weißt, Herr König, daß der Meder und Perser Recht ist, daß alle Gebote und Befehle, so der König beschlossen hat, sollen unverändert bleiben.
16 Then the king gave the order, and they took Daniel and put him into the lions' hole. The king made answer and said to Daniel, Your God, whose servant you are at all times, will keep you safe.
16 Alors le roi donna l'ordre qu'on amenât Daniel, et qu'on le jetât dans la fosse aux lions. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel: Puisse ton Dieu, que tu sers avec persévérance, te délivrer!
16 Ansin d'ordaigh an rí Dainéil a thabhairt i láthair agus é a chaitheamh san uaimh chun na leon. Dúirt an rí le Dainéil: “Do Dhia, a bhfuil seirbhís dhílis tugtha agat dó, fuasclaíodh sé thú.”
16 Entonces el rey mandó, y trajeron á Daniel, y echáronle en el foso de los leones. Y hablando el rey dijo á Daniel: El Dios tuyo, á quien tú continuamente sirves, él te libre.
16 Da befahl der König, daß man Daniel herbrächte; und sie warfen ihn zu den Löwen in den Graben. Der König aber sprach zu Daniel: Dein Gott, dem du ohne Unterlaß dienst, der helfe dir!
17 Then they got a stone and put it over the mouth of the hole, and it was stamped with the king's stamp and with the stamp of the lords, so that the decision about Daniel might not be changed.
17 On apporta une pierre, et on la mit sur l'ouverture de la fosse; le roi la scella de son anneau et de l'anneau de ses grands, afin que rien ne fût changé à l'égard de Daniel.
17 Tugadh cloch agus leagadh ar bhéal na huaimhe í agus chuir an rí a shéala féin agus séala a mhaithe uirthi ionas nach rachadh athrú ar aon ní a bhain le cúis Dhainéil.
17 Y fué traída una piedra, y puesta sobre la puerta del foso, la cual selló el rey con su anillo, y con el anillo de sus príncipes, porque el acuerdo acerca de Daniel no se mudase.
17 Und sie brachten einen Stein, den legten sie vor die Tür am Graben; den versiegelte der König mit seinem eigenen Ring und mit dem Ring der Gewaltigen, auf daß nichts anderes mit Daniel geschähe.
18 Then the king went to his great house, and took no food that night, and no ... were placed before him, and his sleep went from him.
18 Le roi se rendit ensuite dans son palais; il passa la nuit à jeun, il ne fit point venir de concubine auprès de lui, et il ne put se livrer au sommeil.
18 D'fhill an rí ar a phálás ansin agus chaith an oíche ina throscadh, gan [luí le leannán]. Thréig a chodladh é.
18 Fuése luego el rey á su palacio, y acostóse ayuno; ni instrumentos de música fueron traídos delante de él, y se le fué el sueño.
18 Und der König ging weg in seine Burg und blieb ungegessen und ließ auch kein Essen vor sich bringen, konnte auch nicht schlafen.
19 Then very early in the morning the king got up and went quickly to the lions' hole.
19 Le roi se leva au point du jour, avec l'aurore, et il alla précipitamment à la fosse aux lions.
19 Ansin le breacadh an lae d'éirigh an rí agus bhrostaigh leis go huaimh na leon.
19 El rey, por tanto, se levantó muy de mañana, y fué apriesa al foso de los leones:
19 Des Morgens früh, da der Tag anbrach, stand der König auf und ging eilend zum Graben, da die Löwen waren.
20 And when he came near the hole where Daniel was, he gave a loud cry of grief; the king made answer and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, whose servant you are at all times, able to keep you safe from the lions?
20 En s'approchant de la fosse, il appela Daniel d'une voix triste. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel: Daniel, serviteur du Dieu vivant, ton Dieu, que tu sers avec persévérance, a-t-il pu te délivrer des lions?
20 Láimh leis an uaimh ghlaoigh sé go truacánta ar Dhainéil á rá: “A Dhainéil, a shearbhónta Dé bheo, an Dia seo dá bhfónann tú go dílis, arbh fhéidir leis tú a fhuascailt ó na leoin?”
20 Y llegándose cerca del foso llamó á voces á Daniel con voz triste: y hablando el rey dijo á Daniel: Daniel, siervo del Dios viviente, el Dios tuyo, á quien tú continuamente sirves ¿te ha podido librar de los leones?
20 Und als er zum Graben kam rief er Daniel mit kläglicher Stimme. Und der König sprach zu Daniel: Daniel, du Knecht des lebendigen Gottes, hat dich auch dein Gott, dem du ohne Unterlaß dienst, können vor den Löwen erlösen?
21 Then Daniel said to the king, O King, have life for ever.
21 Et Daniel dit au roi: Roi, vis éternellement?
21 D'fhreagair Dainéil an rí: “A rí, fad gach aon fhaid ar do shaol!
21 Entonces habló Daniel con el rey: oh rey, para siempre vive.
21 Daniel aber redete mit dem König: Der König lebe ewiglich!
22 My God has sent his angel to keep the lions' mouths shut, and they have done me no damage: because I was seen to be without sin before him; and further, before you, O King, I have done no wrong.
22 Mon Dieu a envoyé son ange et fermé la gueule des lions, qui ne m'ont fait aucun mal, parce que j'ai été trouvé innocent devant lui; et devant toi non plus, ô roi, je n'ai rien fait de mauvais.
22 Tá a aingeal curtha ag Dia chugam; tá clab na leon dúnta aige, agus níl aon dochar déanta acu dom mar go bhfuarthas gan chion mé ina láthair. Agus táim gan choir leis i do láthairse, a rí.”
22 El Dios mío envió su ángel, el cual cerró la boca de los leones, para que no me hiciesen mal: porque delante de él se halló en mí justicia: y aun delante de ti, oh rey, yo no he hecho lo que no debiese.
22 Mein Gott hat seinen Engel gesandt, der den Löwen den Rachen zugehalten hat, daß sie mir kein Leid getan haben; denn vor ihm bin ich unschuldig erfunden; so habe ich auch wider dich, Herr König, nichts getan.
23 Then the king was very glad, and gave orders for them to take Daniel up out of the hole. So Daniel was taken up out of the hole and he was seen to be untouched, because he had faith in his God.
23 Alors le roi fut très joyeux, et il ordonna qu'on fît sortir Daniel de la fosse. Daniel fut retiré de la fosse, et on ne trouva sur lui aucune blessure, parce qu'il avait eu confiance en son Dieu.
23 Tháinig lúcháir mhór ar an rí agus d'ordaigh sé Dainéil a thógáil as an uaimh. Tógadh Dainéil uime sin aníos as an uaimh agus fuarthas é slán folláin mar go raibh a mhuinín aige as a Dhia.
23 Entonces se alegró el rey en gran manera á causa de él, y mandó sacar á Daniel del foso: y fué Daniel sacado del foso, y ninguna lesión se halló en él, porque creyó en su Dios.
23 Da ward der König sehr froh und hieß Daniel aus dem Graben ziehen. Und sie zogen Daniel aus dem Graben, und man spürte keinen Schaden an ihm; denn er hatte seinem Gott vertraut.
24 And at the king's order, they took those men who had said evil against Daniel, and put them in the lions' hole, with their wives and their children; and they had not got to the floor of the hole before the lions overcame them and all their bones were broken.
24 Le roi ordonna que ces hommes qui avaient accusé Daniel fussent amenés et jetés dans la fosse aux lions, eux, leurs enfants et leurs femmes; et avant qu'ils fussent parvenus au fond de la fosse, les lions les saisirent et brisèrent tous leur os.
24 Ar ordú an rí, tugadh an mhuintir sin a rinne casaoid in aghaidh Dhainéil i láthair agus teilgeadh iad in uaimh na leon, iad féin, a mná agus a gclann; agus sula raibh íochtar na huaimhe sroichte acu bhí siad treascartha ag na leoin agus a gcnámha go léir smiota acu.
24 Y mandándolo el rey fueron traídos aquellos hombres que habían acusado á Daniel, y fueron echados en el foso de los leones, ellos, sus hijos, y sus mujeres; y aun no habían llegado al suelo del foso, cuando los leones se apoderaron de ellos, y quebrantaron todos sus huesos.
24 Da hieß er die Männer, so Daniel verklagt hatten, herbringen und zu den Löwen in den Graben werfen samt ihren Weibern und Kindern. Und ehe sie auf den Boden hinabkamen, ergriffen sie die Löwen und zermalmten alle ihre Gebeine.
25 Then King Darius sent a letter to all the peoples, nations, and languages, living in all the earth: May your peace be increased.
25 Après cela, le roi Darius écrivit à tous les peuples, à toutes les nations, aux hommes de toutes langues, qui habitaient sur toute la terre: Que la paix vous soit donnée avec abondance!
25 Agus scríobh an rí, Dáire, chuig an uile phobal, chine agus theanga a áitríonn san uile aird den chruinne: “Síocháin daoibh ina tuile!
25 Entonces el rey Darío escribió á todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, que habitan en toda la tierra: Paz os sea multiplicada:
25 Da ließ der König Darius schreiben allen Völkern, Leuten und Zungen auf der ganzen Erde: "Viel Friede zuvor!
26 It is my order that in all the kingdom of which I am ruler, men are to be shaking with fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, unchanging for ever, and his kingdom is one which will never come to destruction, his rule will go on to the end.
26 J'ordonne que, dans toute l'étendue de mon royaume, on ait de la crainte et de la frayeur pour le Dieu de Daniel. Car il est le Dieu vivant, et il subsiste éternellement; son royaume ne sera jamais détruit, et sa domination durera jusqu'à la fin.
26 Seo é an reacht atá agam á achtú: i m'impireacht agus i mo fhlaitheas rí go hiomlán go raibh an uile dhuine ar crith le heagla roimh Dhia Dhainéil, mar is é is Dia beo a mhaireann go deo; ní bheidh díthiú ar a fhlaitheas ná críoch ar a thiarnas.
26 De parte mía es puesta ordenanza, que en todo el señorío de mi reino todos teman y tiemblen de la presencia del Dios de Daniel: porque él es el Dios viviente y permanente por todos los siglos, y su reino tal que no será desecho, y su señorío hasta el fin.
26 Das ist mein Befehl, daß man in der ganzen Herrschaft meines Königreiches den Gott Daniels fürchten und scheuen soll. Denn er ist der lebendige Gott, der ewiglich bleibt, und sein Königreich ist unvergänglich, und seine Herrschaft hat kein Ende.
27 He gives salvation and makes men free from danger, and does signs and wonders in heaven and earth, who has kept Daniel safe from the power of the lions.
27 C'est lui qui délivre et qui sauve, qui opère des signes et des prodiges dans les cieux et sur la terre. C'est lui qui a délivré Daniel de la puissance des lions.

27 Que salva y libra, y hace señales y maravillas en el cielo y en la tierra; el cual libró á Daniel del poder de los leones.
27 Er ist ein Erlöser und Nothelfer, und er tut Zeichen und Wunder im Himmel und auf Erden. Der hat Daniel von den Löwen erlöst."
28 So this Daniel did well in the kingdom of Darius and in the kingdom of Cyrus the Persian.
