Ezekiel 32

1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

1 Tháinig briathar an Tiarna chugam:

2 Son of man, give a word to the children of your people, and say to them, When I make the sword come on a land, if the people of the land take a man from among their number and make him their watchman:

2 “A mhic an duine, labhair le do mhuintir féin agus abair leo: Má thugaim an claíomh i gcoinne tíre ar bith, toghadh pobal na tíre sin fear dá muintir féin agus cuiridís ar garda é.

3 If, when he sees the sword coming on the land, by sounding the horn he gives the people news of their danger;

3 si cet homme voit venir l'épée sur le pays, sonne de la trompette, et avertit le peuple;

3 Má fheiceann sé an claíomh ag teacht i gcoinne na tíre, séideadh sé an trumpa leis an bpobal a chur ar a bhfaichill.

3 Y él viere venir la espada sobre la tierra, y tocare corneta, y avisare al pueblo;

4 Then anyone who, hearing the sound of the horn, does not take note of it, will himself be responsible for his death, if the sword comes and takes him away.

4 Má chluineann duine fuaim an trúmpa agus nach dtugann aird air, tiocfaidh a chlaíomh suas leis agus bascfaidh é.

4 wer nun der Drommete Hall hörte und wollte sich nicht warnen lassen, und das Schwert käme und nähme ihn weg: desselben Blut sei auf seinem Kopf;

5 On hearing the sound of the horn, he did not take note; his blood will be on him; for if he had taken note his life would have been safe.

5 Chuala sé an trumpa agus níor thug aird air; beidh sé freagrach ina bhás féin. Ach an fear a thabharfaidh aird, tabharfaidh sé a bheatha slán.

6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming, and does not give a note on the horn, and the people have no word of the danger, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them; he will be taken away in his sin, but I will make the watchman responsible for his blood.

6 “Má fheiceann an garda an claíomh ag teacht, áfach, agus nach séideann an trumpa ionas nach gcuirtear an pobal ar a bhfaichill; agus má thagann an claíomh agus teacht suas le duine amháin acu, gheobhaidh an duine seo bás de bharr a pheaca ach beidh an garda freagrach ina bhás.

7 So you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the children of Israel; and you are to give ear to the word of my mouth and give them news from me of their danger.

7 “A mhic an duine, tá tusa ceaptha agam mar gharda do mhuintir Iosrael; aon uair a chluineann tú focal uaimse cuir ar a bhfaichill iad thar mo cheannsa.

8 When I say to the evil-doer, Death will certainly overtake you; and you say nothing to make clear to the evil-doer the danger of his way; death will overtake that evil man in his evil-doing, but I will make you responsible for his blood.

9 But if you make clear to the evil-doer the danger of his way for the purpose of turning him from it, and he is not turned from his way, death will overtake him in his evil-doing, but your life will be safe.

9 Ach má thugann tú rabhadh don drochdhuine iompú óna aimhleas agus nach n‑iompaíonn sé, gheobhaidh sé bás de bharr a pheaca ach tabharfaidh tusa do bheatha slán. Breithiúnas an Tiarna

10 And you, son of man, say to the children of Israel, You say, Our wrongdoing and our sins are on us and we are wasting away in them; how then may we have life?

Cad é mar a fhéadaimid maireachtáil?’

11 Say to them, By my life, says the Lord, I have no pleasure in the death of the evil-doer; it is more pleasing to me if he is turned from his way and has life: be turned, be turned from your evil ways; why are you looking for death, O children of Israel?

11 Abair leo: ‘Dar mo bheo - an Tiarna Dia a labhraíonn - ní mian liomsa bás an chiontaigh ach go n‑iompódh sé óna bhealaí agus go mairfeadh sé. Filligí, filligí ó bhur ndrochbhealaí. Cad chuige bhur ndúil sa bhás, a mhuintir Iosrael?’

12 And you, son of man, say to the children of your people, The righteousness of the upright man will not make him safe in the day when he does wrong; and the evil-doing of the evil man will not be the cause of his fall in the day when he is turned from his evil-doing; and the upright man will not have life because of his righteousness in the day when he does evil.

12 “A mhic an duine, abair tusa le do phobal: Ní shaorfaidh a fhíréantacht an fíréan nuair a pheacaíonn sé; ní dhaorfaidh a pheacaí an peacach nuair a iompaíonn sé uathu; ní thig leis an bhfíréan maireachtáil le taca a fhíréantachta chomh luath agus a pheacaíonn sé.

13 When I say to the upright that life will certainly be his; if he puts his faith in his righteousness and does evil, not one of his upright acts will be kept in memory; but in the evil he has done, death will overtake him.

13 Má deirim leis an bhfíréan go mairfidh sé cinnte, agus má dhéanann sé talamh slán dá fhíréantacht agus go bpeacaíonn, ní chuimhneofar ar aon phioc dá fhíréantacht, ach éagfaidh sé sa pheaca a rinne sé.

14 And when I say to the evil-doer, Death will certainly be your fate; if he is turned from his sin and does what is ordered and right;

14 Má deirim, áfach, le peacach: ‘Tá an bás i ndán duit cinnte’; agus go n‑iompaíonn sé óna pheaca, agus déanamh mar is ceart agus mar is cóir;

15 If the evil-doer lets one who is in his debt have back what is his, and gives back what he had taken by force, and is guided by the rules of life, doing no evil; life will certainly be his, death will not overtake him.

15 má thugann an peacach ar ais an geall fiach, má thugann uaidh ar shlad sé, má chloíonn sé le reachtanna na beatha, ag seachaint an pheaca; mairfidh sé go deimhín, ní éagfaidh sé.

16 Not one of the sins which he has done will be kept in mind against him: he has done what is ordered and right, life will certainly be his.

16 Ní chuimhneofar níos mó ina choinne ar pheaca ar bith dá ndearna sé; rinne sé mar is ceart agus mar is cóir, mairfidh sé go deimhin.

17 But the children of your people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: when it is they whose way is not equal.

17 “Ach deir do phobal: ‘Tá an Tiarna ag déanamh éagóra’; nuair is iad féin a dhéanann an éagóir.

18 When the upright man, turning away from his righteousness, does evil, death will overtake him in it.

18 Nuair a thréigeann an fíréan a fhíréantacht agus peacú, éagfaidh sé dá bharr.

19 And when the evil man, turning away from his evil-doing, does what is ordered and right, he will get life by it.

19 Nuair a thréigeann an peacach a pheacaí le ceart agus cóir a dhéanamh, mairfidh sé dá bharr.

20 And still you say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O children of Israel, I will be your judge, giving to everyone the reward of his ways.

An Fear ar a Theitheadh

21 Now in the twelfth year after we had been taken away prisoners, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, one who had got away in flight from Jerusalem came to me, saying, The town has been taken.

21 Sa dara bliain déag dár mbraighdeanas, ar an gcúigiú lá den deichiú mí, tháinig fear ar a theitheadh ó Iarúsailéim agus dúirt: “Tá an chathair gafa.”

22 Now the hand of the Lord had been on me in the evening, before the man who had got away came to me; and he made my mouth open, ready for his coming to me in the morning; and my mouth was open and I was no longer without voice.

22 Tharla go raibh lámh an Tiarna orm an tráthnóna sular tháinig an fear ar a theitheadh; bhí mo bhéal oscailte aige sular tháinig an fear an mhaidin dár gcionn. Osclaíodh mo bhéal agus ní raibh mé balbh a thuilleadh.

23 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

23 Tháinig briathar an Tiarna chugam:

24 Son of man, those who are living in these waste places in the land of Israel say, Abraham was but one, and he had land for his heritage: but we are a great number; the land is given to us for our heritage.

24 “A mhic an duine, deir áitritheoirí an fhásaigh i dtír Iosrael: ‘Bhí Abrahám ina aonar nuair a ghabh sé oidhreacht na dúiche seo. Ach tá a lán againne ann anois agus is linne, ar ndóigh, an tír mar oidhreacht.’

25 For this cause say to them, This is what the Lord has said: You take your meat with the blood, your eyes are lifted up to your images, and you are takers of life: are you to have the land for your heritage?

25 “Tá go maith, abair leo: Seo mar a deir an Tiarna Dia: Itheann sibh feoil a bhfuil fuil inti, tógann sibh bhur súile chun bhur n‑íol, agus doirteann sibh fuil; an síleann sibh mar sin fanacht i seilbh na talún?

26 You put your faith in your swords, you do disgusting things, everyone takes his neighbour's wife: are you to have the land for your heritage?

26 Seasann sibh ar bhur gclaimhte, déanann sibh cionta gránna agus truaillíonn gach fear agaibh bean a chomharsan. An síleann sibh mar sin fanacht i seilbh na talún?

27 This is what you are to say to them: The Lord has said, By my life, truly, those who are in the waste places will be put to the sword, and him who is in the open field I will give to the beasts for their food, and those who are in the strong places and in holes in the rocks will come to their death by disease.

27 “Abair seo leo: Seo mar a deir an Tiarna Dia: Dar mo bheo, na daoine atá san fhásach titfidh siad cinnte leis an gclaíomh; an fear ar an mblár folamh tabharfaidh mé do na hainmhithe allta é lena alpadh; éagfaidh lucht na ndaingean agus na bpluaiseanna leis an bplá.

28 And I will make the land a waste and a cause of wonder, and the pride of her strength will come to an end; and the mountains of Israel will be made waste so that no one will go through.

28 Bánóidh agus léirscriosfaidh mé an tír, agus coiscfidh mé a cumhacht mórchúiseach.

29 Then they will be certain that I am the Lord, when I have made the land a waste and a cause of wonder, because of all the disgusting things which they have done,

29 Ansin tuigfidh siad gur mise an Tiarna, nuair a bhánóidh agus léirscriosfaidh mé an tír mar gheall ar na cionta gránna go léir a rinne siad.”

30 And as for you, son of man, the children of your people are talking together about you by the walls and in the doorways of the houses, saying to one another, Come now, give ear to the word which comes from the Lord.

30 “A mhic an duine, tá do mhuintir ag caint ort ar na ballaí agus ag doirse na dtithe. Deir siad lena chéile: ‘Tar agus éist leis an mbriathar a ghabh amach ón Tiarna.’

31 And they come to you as my people come, and are seated before you as my people, hearing your words but doing them not: for deceit is in their mouth and their heart goes after profit for themselves.

31 Tagann siad chugat ina sluaite mar is gnáth agus suíonn siad romhat mar phobal de mo chuidse agus cluineann siad do chaint, ach ní toil leo beartú dá réir.

32 And truly you are to them like a love song by one who has a very pleasing voice and is an expert player on an instrument: for they give ear to your words but do them not.

32 Féachann siad ortsa mar a bheadh [duine a chanann] amhrán grá ann á ghabháil go binn le tionlacan gléas ceoil. Éisteann siad le do bhriathra, ach ní dhéanann beart dá réir.

33 And when this comes about (see, it is coming), then it will be clear to them that a prophet has been among them.

33 Nuair a thiocfaidh seo i gcrích, agus tiocfaidh gan teip, tuigfidh siad go raibh fáidh ina measc.”
