1 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying,

1 Und des HERRN Wort geschah zu mir und sprach:
2 Why do you make use of this saying about the land of Israel, The fathers have been tasting bitter grapes and the children's teeth are on edge?
2 Pourquoi dites-vous ce proverbe dans le pays d'Israël: Les pères ont mangé des raisins verts, et les dents des enfants en ont été agacées?
2 “Cad chuige a n‑aithriseann sibh an seanfhocal seo faoi thír Iosrael: D'ith a n‑aithreacha caora searbha; agus tá déistin ar fhiacla na clainne?
2 ¿Qué pensáis vosotros, vosotros que usáis este refrán sobre la tierra de Israel, diciendo: Los padres comieron el agraz, y los dientes de los hijos tienen la dentera?
2 Was treibt ihr unter euch im Lande Israel dies Sprichwort und sprecht: "Die Väter haben Herlinge gegessen, aber den Kindern sind die Zähne davon stumpf geworden"?
3 By my life, says the Lord, you will no longer have this saying in Israel.
3 Je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, vous n'aurez plus lieu de dire ce proverbe en Israël.
3 “Dar mo bheo - an Tiarna Dia a labhraíonn - ní bheidh an seanfhocal seo sa chaint a thuilleadh eadraibh in Iosrael.
3 Vivo yo, dice el Señor Jehová, que nunca más tendréis por qué usar este refrán en Israel.
3 So wahr als ich lebe, spricht der HERR HERR, solches Sprichwort soll nicht mehr unter euch gehen in Israel.
4 See, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so the soul of the son is mine: death will be the fate of the sinner's soul.
4 Voici, toutes les âmes sont à moi; l'âme du fils comme l'âme du père, l'une et l'autre sont à moi; l'âme qui pèche, c'est celle qui mourra.
4 Féach, is liomsa an uile bheo, is liom anam an athar agus anam an mhic. An duine a pheacaíonn, eisean a éagfaidh.
4 He aquí que todas las almas son mías; como el alma del padre, así el alma del hijo es mía; el alma que pecare, esa morirá.
4 Denn siehe, alle Seelen sind mein; des Vaters Seele ist sowohl mein als des Sohnes Seele. Welche Seele sündigt, die soll sterben.
5 But if a man is upright, living rightly and doing righteousness,
5 L'homme qui est juste, qui pratique la droiture et la justice,
5 “Géilleann an fíréan don dlí agus don cheart,
5 Y el hombre que fuere justo, é hiciere juicio y justicia;
5 Wenn nun einer fromm ist, der recht und wohl tut,
6 And has not taken flesh with the blood for food, or given worship to the images of the children of Israel; if he has not had connection with his neighbour's wife, or come near to a woman at the time when she is unclean;
6 qui ne mange pas sur les montagnes et ne lève pas les yeux vers les idoles de la maison d'Israël, qui ne déshonore pas la femme de son prochain et ne s'approche pas d'une femme pendant son impureté,
6 ní itheann sé ar na sléibhte, ní thógann sé a shúile chun íola mhuintir Iosrael, ní thruaillíonn sé bean a chomharsan, ní théann i ndáil mhná le linn a fola míosúla.
6 Que no comiere sobre los montes, ni alzare sus ojos á los ídolos de la casa de Israel, ni violare la mujer de su prójimo, ni llegare á la mujer menstruosa,
6 der auf den Bergen nicht isset, der seine Augen nicht aufhebt zu den Götzen des Hauses Israel und seines Nächsten Weib nicht befleckt und liegt nicht bei der Frau in ihrer Krankheit,
7 And has done no wrong to any, but has given back to the debtor what is his, and has taken no one's goods by force, and has given food to him who was in need of it, and clothing to him who was without it;
7 qui n'opprime personne, qui rend au débiteur son gage, qui ne commet point de rapines, qui donne son pain à celui qui a faim et couvre d'un vêtement celui qui est nu,
7 Ní imríonn sé éagóir ar aon duine, ach tugann sé a gheall ar ais dá fhéichiúnaí; ní ghoideann sé, ach tugann arán don ocrach agus éadaí don nocht.
7 Ni oprimiere á ninguno; al deudor tornare su prenda, no cometiere robo, diere de su pan al hambriento, y cubriere al desnudo con vestido,
7 der niemand beschädigt, der dem Schuldner sein Pfand wiedergibt, der niemand etwas mit Gewalt nimmt, der dem Hungrigen sein Brot mitteilt und den Nackten kleidet,
8 And has not given his money out at interest or taken great profits, and, turning his hand from evil-doing, has kept faith between man and man,
8 qui ne prête pas à intérêt et ne tire point d'usure, qui détourne sa main de l'iniquité et juge selon la vérité entre un homme et un autre,
8 Ní thugann sé uaidh ar úsaireacht, ní ghlacann sé brabús, staonann sé ón olc, tugann sé breithiúnas cóir idir duine agus duine;
8 No diere á logro, ni recibiere aumento; de la maldad retrajere su mano, é hiciere juicio de verdad entre hombre y hombre,
8 der nicht wuchert, der nicht Zins nimmt, der seine Hand vom Unrechten kehrt, der zwischen den Leuten recht urteilt,
9 And has been guided by my rules and has kept my laws and done them: he is upright, life will certainly be his, says the Lord.
9 qui suit mes lois et observe mes ordonnances en agissant avec fidélité, celui-là est juste, il vivra, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
9 siúlann sé de réir mo reachtanna agus comhlíonann mo dheasghnátha go cúramach. Tá a leithéid fíréanta dáiríre agus mairfidh sé go deimhin. Is é an Tiarna Dia a labhraíonn.
9 En mis ordenanzas caminare, y guardare mis derechos para hacer verdad, éste es justo: éste vivirá, dice el Señor Jehová.
9 der nach meinen Rechten wandelt und meine Gebote hält, daß er ernstlich darnach tue: das ist ein frommer Mann, der soll das leben haben, spricht der HERR HERR.
10 If he has a son who is a thief, a taker of life, who does any of these things,
10 S'il a un fils qui soit violent, qui répande le sang, ou qui commette quelque chose de semblable;
10 “Ach má ghineann sé bithiúnach fuilteach de mhac
10 Mas si engendrare hijo ladrón, derramador de sangre, ó que haga alguna cosa de éstas,
10 Wenn er aber einen Sohn zeugt, und derselbe wird ein Mörder, der Blut vergießt oder dieser Stücke eins tut,
11 Who has taken flesh with the blood as food, and has had connection with his neighbour's wife,
11 si ce fils n'imite en rien la conduite de son père, s'il mange sur les montagnes, s'il déshonore la femme de son prochain,
11 nach ndéanann aon dualgas díobh seo, ach a itheann ar na sléibhte, a thruaillíonn bean a chomharsan,
11 Y que no haga las otras; antes comiere sobre los montes, ó violare la mujer de su prójimo,
11 und der andern Stücke keins tut, sondern auf den Bergen isset und seines Nächsten Weib befleckt,
12 Has done wrong to the poor and to him who is in need, and taken property by force, and has not given back to one in his debt what is his, and has given worship to images and has done disgusting things,
12 s'il opprime le malheureux et l'indigent, s'il commet des rapines, s'il ne rend pas le gage, s'il lève les yeux vers les idoles et fait des abominations,
12 a imríonn éagóir ar an mbochtán agus ar an ainniseoir, a ghoideann, nach dtugann geall ar ais, a thógann a shúile chun na n‑íol, a mbíonn imeachtaí gránna ar siúl aige,
12 Al pobre y menesteroso oprimiere, cometiere robos, no tornare la prenda, ó alzare sus ojos á los ídolos, é hiciere abominación,
12 die Armen und Elenden beschädigt, mit Gewalt etwas nimmt, das Pfand nicht wiedergibt, seine Augen zu den Götzen aufhebt und einen Greuel begeht,
13 And has given out his money at interest and taken great profits: he will certainly not go on living: he has done all these disgusting things: death will certainly be his fate; his blood will be on him.
13 S'il prête à intérêt et tire une usure, ce fils-là vivrait! Il ne vivra pas; il a commis toutes ces abominations; qu'il meure! que son sang retombe sur lui!
13 a thugann uaidh ar úsaireacht agus a ghlacann brabús; an mairfidh seisean? Go deimhin, ní mhairfidh. Tar éis dó na coireanna gránna seo a dhéanamh éagfaidh sé cinnte agus beidh a chuid fola air féin.
13 Diere á usura, y recibiere aumento: ¿vivirá éste? No vivirá. Todas estas abominaciones hizo; de cierto morirá; su sangre será sobre él.
13 auf Wucher gibt, Zins nimmt: sollte der Leben? Er soll nicht leben, sondern weil er solche Greuel alle getan hat, soll er des Todes sterben; sein Blut soll auf ihm sein.
14 Now if he has a son who sees all his father's sins which he has done, and in fear does not do the same:
14 Mais si un homme a un fils qui voie tous les péchés que commet son père, qui les voie et n'agisse pas de la même manière;
14 “Ach má ghineann an fear seo mac a fheiceann na peacaí a rinne a athair, a ghabhann eagla agus nach ndéanann beart dá réir,
14 Pero si éste engrendrare hijo, el cual viere todos los pecados que su padre hizo, y viéndolos no hiciere según ellos:
14 Wo er aber einen Sohn zeugt, der solche Sünden sieht, so sein Vater tut, und sich fürchtet und nicht also tut,
15 Who has not taken the flesh with the blood for food, or given worship to the images of the children of Israel, and has not had connection with his neighbour's wife,
15 si ce fils ne mange pas sur les montagnes et ne lève pas les yeux vers les idoles de la maison d'Israël, s'il ne déshonore pas la femme de son prochain,
15 nach n‑itheann ar na sléibhte, nach dtógann a shúile chun íola mhuintir Iosrael, nach dtruaillíonn bean a chomharsan,
15 No comiere sobre los montes, ni alzare sus ojos á los ídolos de la casa de Israel; la mujer de su prójimo no violare,
15 ißt nicht auf den Bergen, hebt seine Augen nicht auf zu den Götzen des Hauses Israel, befleckt nicht seines Nächsten Weib,
16 Or done wrong to any, or taken anything from one in his debt, or taken goods by force, but has given food to him who was in need of it, and clothing to him who was without it;
16 s'il n'opprime personne, s'il ne prend point de gage, s'il ne commet point de rapines, s'il donne son pain à celui qui a faim et couvre d'un vêtement celui qui est nu,
16 nach n‑imríonn éagóir ar aon duine, nach n‑éilíonn geall, nach ngoideann; ach a thugann arán don ocrach agus éadaí don nocht,
16 Ni oprimiere á nadie; la prenda no empeñare, ni cometiere robos; al hambriento diere de su pan, y cubriere de vestido al desnudo;
16 beschädigt niemand, behält das Pfand nicht, nimmt nicht mit Gewalt etwas, teilt sein Brot mit dem Hungrigen und kleidet den Nackten,
17 Who has kept his hand from evil-doing and has not taken interest or great profits, who has done my orders and been guided by my rules: he will certainly not be put to death for the evil-doing of his father; life will certainly be his.
17 s'il détourne sa main de l'iniquité, s'il n'exige ni intérêt ni usure, s'il observe mes ordonnances et suit mes lois, celui-là ne mourra pas pour l'iniquité de son père; il vivra.
17 a staonann ón olc, nach dtugann uaidh ar úsaireacht agus nach nglacann brabús, a chomhlíonann mo dheasghnátha agus a shiúlann de réir mo reachtanna; ní éagfaidh seisean de bharr peacaí a athar, ach mairfidh sé go deimhin.
17 Apartare su mano del pobre, usura ni aumento no recibiere; hiciere mis derechos, y anduviere en mis ordenanzas, éste no morirá por la maldad de su padre; de cierto vivirá.
17 der seine Hand vom Unrechten kehrt, keinen Wucher noch Zins nimmt, sondern meine Gebote hält und nach meinen Rechten lebt: der soll nicht sterben um seines Vaters Missetat willen, sondern leben.
18 As for his father, because he was cruel, took goods by force, and did what is not good among his people, truly, death will overtake him in his evil-doing.
18 C'est son père, qui a été un oppresseur, qui a commis des rapines envers les autres, qui a fait au milieu de son peuple ce qui n'est pas bien, c'est lui qui mourra pour son iniquité.
18 Ach de bhrí gur imir an t‑athair éagóir, gur chreach sé a dheartháir agus nach ndearna gar riamh i measc a mhuintire, éagfaidh sé cinnte de bharr a oilc.
18 Su padre, por cuanto hizo agravio, despojó violentamente al hermano, é hizo en medio de su pueblo lo que no es bueno, he aquí que él morirá por su maldad.
18 Aber sein Vater, der Gewalt und Unrecht geübt hat und unter seinem Volk getan hat, was nicht taugt, siehe, der soll sterben um seiner Missetat willen.
19 But you say, Why does not the son undergo punishment for the evil-doing of the father? When the son has done what is ordered and right, and has kept my rules and done them, life will certainly be his.
19 Vous dites: Pourquoi le fils ne porte-t-il pas l'iniquité de son père? C'est que le fils a agi selon la droiture et la justice, c'est qu'il a observé et mis en pratique toutes mes lois; il vivra.
19 “Deir sibh: ‘Cad chuige nach n‑iompraíonn an mac peacaí an athar?’ Má ghéilleann an mac don dlí agus don cheart agus mo dheasghnátha a chomhlíonadh go cúramach, mairfidh sé gan amhras.
19 Y si dijereis: ¿Por qué el hijo no llevará por el pecado de su padre? Porque el hijo hizo juicio y justicia, guardó todas mis ordenanzas, y las hizo, de cierto vivirá.
19 So sprecht ihr: Warum soll denn ein Sohn nicht tragen seines Vaters Missetat? Darum daß er recht und wohl getan und alle meine Rechte gehalten und getan hat, soll er leben.
20 The soul which does sin will be put to death: the son will not be made responsible for the evil-doing of the father, or the father for the evil-doing of the son; the righteousness of the upright will be on himself, and the evil-doing of the evil-doer on himself.
20 L'âme qui pèche, c'est celle qui mourra. Le fils ne portera pas l'iniquité de son père, et le père ne portera pas l'iniquité de son fils. La justice du juste sera sur lui, et la méchanceté du méchant sera sur lui.
20 An duine a pheacaíonn, éagfaidh sé. Ní bheidh an mac freagrach i bpeacaí an athar ná an t‑athair i bpeacaí an mhic; gheobhaidh an fíréan creidiúint as a fhíréantacht féin amháin agus an drochdhuine as a urchóid.
20 El alma que pecare, esa morirá: el hijo no llevará por el pecado del padre, ni el padre llevará por el pecado del hijo: la justicia del justo será sobre él, y la impiedad el impío será sobre él.
20 Denn welche Seele sündigt, die soll sterben. Der Sohn soll nicht tragen die Missetat des Vaters, und der Vater soll nicht tragen die Missetat des Sohnes; sondern des Gerechten Gerechtigkeit soll über ihm sein.
21 But if the evil-doer, turning away from all the sins which he has done, keeps my rules and does what is ordered and right, life will certainly be his; death will not be his fate.
21 Si le méchant revient de tous les péchés qu'il a commis, s'il observe toutes mes lois et pratique la droiture et la justice, il vivra, il ne mourra pas.
21 “Ach má thréigeann an drochdhuine na peacaí go léir a rinne sé, má chomhlíonann sé mo dheasghnátha uile agus géilleadh don dlí agus don cheart, mairfidh sé go deimhin; ní éagfaidh sé.
21 Mas el impío, si se apartare de todos sus pecados que hizo, y guardare todas mis ordenanzas, é hiciere juicio y justicia, de cierto vivirá; no morirá.
21 Wo sich aber der Gottlose bekehrt von allen seine Sünden, die er getan hat, und hält alle meine Rechte und tut recht und wohl, so soll er leben und nicht sterben.
22 Not one of the sins which he has done will be kept in memory against him: in the righteousness which he has done he will have life.
22 Toutes les transgressions qu'il a commises seront oubliées; il vivra, à cause de la justice qu'il a pratiquée.
22 Na peacaí go léir a rinne sé ní labhrófar leis arís orthu; as an bhfíréantacht a chleacht sé mairfidh sé.
22 Todas sus rebeliones que cometió, no le serán recordadas: en su justicia que hizo vivirá.
22 Es soll aller seiner Übertretung, so er begangen hat, nicht gedacht werden; sondern er soll leben um der Gerechtigkeit willen, die er tut.
23 Have I any pleasure in the death of the evil-doer? says the Lord: am I not pleased if he is turned from his way so that he may have life?
23 Ce que je désire, est-ce que le méchant meure? dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel. N'est-ce pas qu'il change de conduite et qu'il vive?
23 An mbainim sult as bás an drochdhuine? - an Tiarna Dia a labhraíonn. Nach é mo mhian go dtréigfeadh sé a bhealaí agus go mairfeadh sé?
23 ¿Quiero yo la muerte del impío? dice el Señor Jehová. ¿No vivirá, si se apartare de sus caminos?
23 Meinest du, daß ich Gefallen habe am Tode des Gottlosen, spricht der HERR, und nicht vielmehr, daß er sich bekehre von seinem Wesen und lebe?
24 But when the upright man, turning away from his righteousness, does evil, like all the disgusting things which the evil man does, will he have life? Not one of his upright acts will be kept in memory: in the wrong which he has done and in his sin death will overtake him.
24 Si le juste se détourne de sa justice et commet l'iniquité, s'il imite toutes les abominations du méchant, vivra-t-il? Toute sa justice sera oubliée, parce qu'il s'est livré à l'iniquité et au péché; à cause de cela, il mourra.
24 Ach má thréigeann an fíréan a fhíréantacht, agus olc a dhéanamh, agus imeachtaí gránna an drochdhuine a bheith ar siúl aige, an mairfidh sé? Ní bheidh aon trácht ar an bhfíréantacht a chleacht sé; de bhrí gur fheall sé agus gur pheacaigh sé, gheobhaidh sé bás.
24 Mas si el justo se apartare de su justicia, y cometiere maldad, é hiciere conforme á todas las abominaciones que el impío hizo; ¿vivirá él? Todas las justicias que hizo no vendrán en memoria; por su rebelión con que prevaricó, y por su pecado que cometió, por ello morirá.
24 Und wo sich der Gerechte kehrt von seiner Gerechtigkeit und tut Böses und lebt nach all den Greueln, die ein Gottloser tut, sollte der leben? Ja, aller seiner Gerechtigkeit, die er getan hat, soll nicht gedacht werden; sondern in seiner Übertretung und Sünde, die er getan hat, soll er sterben.
25 But you say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Give ear, now, O children of Israel; is my way not equal? are not your ways unequal?
25 Vous dites: La voie du Seigneur n'est pas droite. Écoutez donc, maison d'Israël! Est-ce ma voie qui n'est pas droite? Ne sont-ce pas plutôt vos voies qui ne sont pas droites?
25 “Ach deir sibhse: ‘Ní cóir iad gníomhartha an Tiarna.’ Éistigí liom, a mhuintir Iosrael; nach cóir iad mo ghníomhartha? Nach iad bhur ngníomhartha féin atá míchóir?
25 Y si dijereis: No es derecho el camino del Señor: oid ahora, casa de Israel: ¿No es derecho mi camino? ¿no son vuestros caminos torcidos?
25 Doch sprecht ihr: Der HERR handelt nicht recht. So hört nun, ihr vom Hause Israel: Ist's nicht also, daß ich recht habe und ihr unrecht habt?
26 When the upright man, turning away from his righteousness, does evil, death will overtake him; in the evil which he has done death will overtake him.
26 Si le juste se détourne de sa justice et commet l'iniquité, et meurt pour cela, il meurt à cause de l'iniquité qu'il a commise.
26 Má thréigeann an fíréan a fhíréantacht agus peacú, éagfaidh sé dá bharr; éagfaidh sé de bharr an oilc atá déanta aige.
26 Apartándose el justo de su justicia, y haciendo iniquidad, él morirá por ello: por su iniquidad que hizo, morirá.
26 Denn wenn der Gerechte sich kehrt von seiner Gerechtigkeit und tut Böses, so muß er sterben; er muß aber um seiner Bosheit willen, die er getan hat, sterben.
27 Again, when the evil-doer, turning away from the evil he has done, does what is ordered and right, he will have life for his soul.
27 Si le méchant revient de sa méchanceté et pratique la droiture et la justice, il fera vivre son âme.
27 Arís, má thréigeann an drochdhuine a pheacaí agus déanamh mar is ceart agus mar is cóir, tabharfaidh sé a bheatha slán.
27 Y apartándose el impío de su impiedad que hizo, y haciendo juicio y justicia, hará vivir su alma.
27 Wiederum, wenn der Gottlose kehrt von seiner Ungerechtigkeit, die er getan hat, und tut nun recht und wohl, der wird seine Seele lebendig erhalten.
28 Because he had fear and was turned away from all the wrong which he had done, life will certainly be his, death will not be his fate.
28 S'il ouvre les yeux et se détourne de toutes les transgressions qu'il a commises, il vivra, il ne mourra pas.
28 De bhrí gur mhachnaigh sé agus gur thréig sé a pheacaí go léir mairfidh sé go deimhin; ní bhfaighidh sé bás.
28 Porque miró, y apartóse de todas sus prevaricaciones que hizo, de cierto vivirá, no morirá.
28 Denn weil er sieht und bekehrt sich von aller Bosheit, die er getan hat, so soll er leben und nicht sterben.
29 But still the children of Israel say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O children of Israel, are my ways not equal? are not your ways unequal?
29 La maison d'Israël dit: La voie du Seigneur n'est pas droite. Est-ce ma voie qui n'est pas droite, maison d'Israël? Ne sont-ce pas plutôt vos voies qui ne sont pas droites?
29 Ach deir muintir Iosrael: ‘Ní cóir iad gníomhartha an Tiarna.’ A mhuintir Iosrael, nach cóir iad mo ghníomhartha? Nach iad bhur ngníomhartha féin atá míchóir?
29 Si aun dijere la casa de Israel: No es derecho el camino del Señor: ¿No son derechos mis caminos, casa de Israel? Cierto, vuestros caminos no son derechos.
29 Doch sprechen die vom Hause Israel: Der HERR handelt nicht recht. Sollte ich Unrecht haben? Ihr vom Hause Israel habt unrecht.
30 For this cause I will be your judge, O children of Israel, judging every man by his ways, says the Lord. Come back and be turned from all your sins; so that they may not be the cause of your falling into evil.
30 C'est pourquoi je vous jugerai chacun selon ses voies, maison d'Israël, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel. Revenez et détournez-vous de toutes vos transgressions, afin que l'iniquité ne cause pas votre ruine.
30 Dá bhrí sin, tabharfaidh mé breithiúnas ort, a mhuintir Iosrael; ar gach duine de réir a ghníomhartha - an Tiarna Dia a labhraíonn. Déanaigí aithrí agus tréigigí bhur bpeacaí go léir; seachnaígí gach ócáid scannail agaibh.
30 Por tanto, yo os juzgaré á cada uno según sus caminos, oh casa de Israel, dice el Señor Jehová. Convertíos, y volveos de todas vuestras iniquidades; y no os será la iniquidad causa de ruina.
30 Darum will ich euch richten, ihr vom Hause Israel einen jeglichen nach seinem Wesen, spricht der HERR HERR. Darum so bekehrt euch von aller Übertretung, auf daß ihr nicht fallen müsset um der Missetat willen.
31 Put away all your evil-doing in which you have done sin; and make for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit: why are you desiring death, O children of Israel?
31 Rejetez loin de vous toutes les transgressions par lesquelles vous avez péché; faites-vous un coeur nouveau et un esprit nouveau. Pourquoi mourriez-vous, maison d'Israël?
31 Teilgigí uaibh na peacaí uile a rinne sibh orm; agus cothaígí ionaibh féin croí nua agus spiorad nua. Cad chuige gur toil libh bás a fháil, a mhuintir Iosrael?
31 Echad de vosotros todas vuestras iniquidades con que habéis prevaricado, y haceos corazón nuevo y espíritu nuevo. ¿Y por qué moriréis, casa de Israel?
31 Werfet von euch alle eure Übertretung, damit ihr übertreten habt, und machet euch ein neues Herz und einen neuen Geist. Denn warum willst du sterben, du Haus Israel?
