Isaiah 21

1 The word about the valley of vision. Why have all your people gone up to the house-tops?

1 Fáistine in aghaidh Ghleann Hionnom. Cad tá ort go bhfuil tú imithe suas ar fad ar bharr na dtithe,

2 You, who are full of loud voices, a town of outcries, given up to joy; your dead men have not been put to the sword, or come to their death in war.

2 a chathair an challáin, a bhaile na círéibe, agus tú lán de ghairdeas? Ní coscar claímh do choscar, ná ní sa chath a thit do chuid marbh;

2 Du warst voll Getönes, eine Stadt voll Volks, eine fröhliche Stadt. Deine Erschlagenen sind nicht mit dem Schwert erschlagen und nicht im Streit gestorben;

3 All your rulers ... have gone in flight; all your strong ones have gone far away.

3 tá do cheannfoirt uile i ndiaidh a thabhairt do na boinn, ina bpríosúnaigh gan bogha a lúbadh. An chuid is cróga agaibh, tá siad ina bpríosúnaigh, tar éis gur theith siad i bhfad ar shiúl.

4 For this cause I have said, Let your eyes be turned away from me in my bitter weeping; I will not be comforted for the wasting of the daughter of my people.

4 Is ar an ábhar sin a deirim: “Iompaígí uaim go gcaoine mé go goirt; ná bígí ag brú sóláis orm i ndíothú iníon mo mhuintire.”

5 For it is a day of trouble and of crushing down and of destruction from the Lord, the Lord of armies, in the valley of vision; ...

5 Óir lá trioblóide agus treascartha agus tranglaim atá chugainn, agus is é an Tiarna Dia na Slua faoi deara é. Sa ghleann sin Hionnom tá ballaí á leagan, táthar ag scairteadh ar chabhair ar an sliabh.

6 And Elam was armed with arrows, and Aram came on horseback; and the breastplate of Kir was uncovered.

6 Tá Éalám ag breith chuige a bholgán saighead, agus Arám ag dul sa diallait; tá Cír ag baint an chumhdaigh dá sciath.

7 And your most fertile valleys were full of war-carriages, and the horsemen took up their positions in front of the town.

7 An chuid is áille de do ghleannta, tá siad breac le carbaid; tá an marcshlua in ionad os coinne na ngeataí.

8 He took away the cover of Judah; and in that day you were looking with care at the store of arms in the house of the woods.

I gCoinne Ullmhú Míleata Bhí do shúil an lá sin le harmlann Áras na Foraoise.

9 And you saw all the broken places in the wall of the town of David: and you got together the waters of the lower pool.

9 Bhreathnaigh sibh chomh líonmhar agus bhí na bearnaí i múr chathair Dháiví.

9 Und ihr werdet die Risse an der Stadt Davids viel sehen und werdet das Wasser des untern Teiches sammeln;

10 And you had the houses of Jerusalem numbered, pulling down the houses to make the wall stronger.

10 Rinne sibh tithe Iarúsailéim a chuntas, agus leag sibh cuid acu chun an múr a dhaingniú.

11 And you made a place between the two walls for storing the waters of the old pool: but you gave no thought to him who had done this, and were not looking to him by whom it had been purposed long before.

11 I lár báire, rinne sibh obair idir an dá mhúr faoi choinne uisce na Seanlinne. Ach níor chuimhnigh sibh ar an gCruthaitheoir ná ní fhaca an Té a mhúnlaigh an t‑iomlán fadó riamh.

12 And in that day the Lord, the Lord of armies, was looking for weeping, and cries of sorrow, cutting off of the hair, and putting on the clothing of grief:

12 Bhí an Tiarna Dia na Slua ag glaoch oraibh an lá sin chun caoineadh a dhéanamh agus mairgneach, chun sibh féin a bhearradh agus éadach róin a chur oraibh.

13 But in place of these there was joy and delight, oxen and sheep were being made ready for food, there was feasting and drinking: men said, Now is the time for food and wine, for tomorrow death comes.

13 Ina ionad sin, siamsa atá ar siúl agus sult, mairt á marú agus caoirigh á gcoscairt, feoil á halpadh agus fíon á ól; agus sibh ag ceapadh: “Ithimis agus ólaimis, mar beidh an bás againn amárach.”

13 Y he aquí gozo y alegría, matando vacas y degollando ovejas, comer carne y beber vino, diciendo: Comamos y bebamos, que mañana moriremos.

14 And the Lord of armies said to me secretly, Truly, this sin will not be taken from you till your death, says the Lord, the Lord of armies.

14 Fuair mo chluasa an foilsiú seo ó Thiarna na Slua: “Ní dhéanfar sásamh sa pheaca seo go deo, go dtí go bhfaighe sibh bás,” a deir an Tiarna Dia na Slua. In Éadan Aire

15 The Lord, the Lord of armies, says, Go to this person in authority, this Shebna, who is over the house; who has made himself a resting-place on high, cutting out a place for himself in the rock, and say,

15 Seo mar a deir an Tiarna Dia na Slua: “Imigh leat chuig an feidhmeannach seo, chuig Seabná, maor an pháláis, agus abair leis:

16 Who are you, and by what right have you made for yourself a resting-place here?

16 ‘Cén ceart nó cén gnó atá agat anseo go bhfuil tú ag gearradh tuama duit féin ann, ag gearradh amach tuama ar an ard, ag snoí seomra duit féin sa charraig?’

17 See, O strong man, the Lord will send you violently away, gripping you with force,

17 Féach, steallfaidh an Tiarna amach thú d'aon steall amháin; tá sé ag dul i ngleic agus i ngreim leat.

18 Twisting you round and round like a ball he will send you out into a wide country: there you will come to your end, and there will be the carriages of your pride, O shame of your lord's house!

18 Corann agus cornann sé thú i do chorna, agus caitheann i do cheirtlín thú i dtír leitheadach amach. Is ann a gheobhaidh tú bás, agus is ann a fhágfar na carbaid a bhfuil tú chomh teann astu; tusa atá i do chúis náire do theaghlach do thiarna.” Fáistine eile in Éadan Sheabná

19 And I will have you forced out of your place of authority, and pulled down from your position.

19 Brisfidh mé as do phost thú, as d'ionad stróicim thú anuas;

19 Und ich will dich von deinem Stande stürzen, und von deinem Amt will ich dich setzen.

20 And in that day I will send for my servant, Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah:

20 En ce jour-là, J'appellerai mon serviteur Éliakim, fils de Hilkija;

20 agus an lá céanna glaoim ar mo sheirbhíseach, Eiliácaím mac Hilciá.

20 Y será que, en aquel día, llamaré á mi siervo Eliacim, hijo de Hilcías;

21 And I will put your robe on him, and put your band about him, and I will give your authority into his hand: and he will be a father to the men of Jerusalem, and to the family of Judah.

21 Tá mé chun a ghléasadh i d'ionarsa, chun é a fheistiú le do shursaing, agus tugaim do chumhacht isteach ina láimh, agus beidh sé ina athair ag muintir Iarúsailéim, agus ag teaghlach Iúdá.

22 And I will give the key of the family of David into his care; and what he keeps open will be shut by no one, and what he keeps shut no one will make open.

22 Tá mé ag leagan eochair theach Dháiví ar a ghualainn; má osclaíonn sé, ní dhúnfar; má dhúnann, ní osclófar.

23 And I will put him like a nail in a safe place; and he will be for a seat of glory to his father's family.

23 Cuirim i bhfostú é mar bheadh tairne in áit dhaingean: déanfar cathaoir onóra de i gcomhair theaghlach a athar.

24 And all the glory of his father's family will be hanging on him, all their offspring, every small vessel, even the cups and the basins.

24 Beidh maoin theaghlach a athar ar fad crochta as - idir shíol agus shliocht - na mionghréithe go léir, idir choirn agus chrúisciní.

25 In that day, says the Lord of armies, will the nail fixed in a safe place give way; and it will be cut down, and in its fall the weight hanging on it will be cut off, for the Lord has said it.

25 Sa lá sin - briathar Thiarna na Slua - tabharfaidh sé uaidh, an tairne sin a cuireadh i bhfostú san áit dhaingean. Ropfar amach é agus titfidh sé. Agus an t‑ualach iomlán atá ag crochadh as, brisfear é, óir tá an Tiarna tar éis labhairt.
