Isaiah 19

1 In the year when the Tartan came to Ashdod, sent by Sargon, king of Assyria, and made war against it and took it;

1 An bhliain ar tháinig an tArdoifigeach go hAisdeod, arna chur uaidh ag Sargon, rí na hAsaíre, d'ionsaigh sé Aisdeod agus ghabh é.

1 EN el año que vino Thartán á Asdod, cuando le envió Sargón rey de Asiria, y peleó contra Asdod y la tomó;

2 At that time the word of the Lord came to Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saying, Go, and take off your robe, and your shoes from your feet; and he did so, walking unclothed and without shoes on his feet.

2 San am sin, bhí an Tiarna tar éis labhairt trí mhinistreacht Íseáia mhic Ámóz. Dúirt sé leis: “Gabh agus scaoil an t‑éadach róin atá thart ar do choim agat agus bain na cuaráin de do chosa.”

3 And the Lord said, As my servant Isaiah has gone unclothed and without shoes for three years as a sign and a wonder to Egypt and Ethiopia,

3 Ansin dúirt an Tiarna: “Díreach mar bhí mo sheirbhíseach Íseáia ag gabháil thart tarnocht agus cosnocht ar feadh trí bhliain, ina chomhartha agus ina mhana don Éigipt agus do Chúis,

3 Y dijo Jehová: De la manera que anduvo mi siervo Isaías desnudo y descalzo tres años, señal y pronóstico sobre Egipto y sobre Etiopía;

4 So will the king of Assyria take away the prisoners of Egypt and those forced out of Ethiopia, young and old, unclothed and without shoes, and with backs uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

4 is amhlaidh a dhéanfaidh rí na hAsaíre cimí na hÉigipte agus deoraithe Chúis a chinnireacht ar shiúl leis, idir óg agus aosta, tarnocht agus cosnocht agus másnocht.

5 And they will be full of fear, and will no longer have faith in Ethiopia which was their hope, or in Egypt which was their glory.

5 Agus beidh eagla agus náire oraibh as Cúis, a raibh bhur muinín ann, agus as an Éigipt, a raibh sibh chomh teann sin aisti.

6 And those living by the sea will say in that day, See the fate of our hope to whom we went for help and salvation from the king of Assyria: what hope have we then of salvation?

6 Agus déarfaidh muintir an chósta anseo: ‘Féach ar tharla don té a raibh muinín againn ann agus a ndeachaigh muid chuige ar lorg cabhrach agus dídine ar rí na hAsaíre. Cén bealach éalaithe atá againn anois?’ ”
