2 It is the glory of God to keep a thing secret: but the glory of kings is to have it searched out.
2 La gloire de Dieu, c'est de cacher les choses; La gloire des rois, c'est de sonder les choses.

2 Gloria de Dios es encubrir la palabra; Mas honra del rey es escudriñar la palabra.

3 The heaven is high and the earth is deep, and the hearts of kings may not be searched out.
3 Les cieux dans leur hauteur, la terre dans sa profondeur, Et le coeur des rois, sont impénétrables.

5 Aparta al impío de la presencia del rey, Y su trono se afirmará en justicia.
5 Man tue den Gottlosen hinweg vor dem König, so wird sein Thron mit Gerechtigkeit befestigt.
6 Do not take glory for yourself before the king, and do not put yourself in the place of the great:
6 Ne t'élève pas devant le roi, Et ne prends pas la place des grands;
6 Ná bíodh mustar ort i láthair an rí, agus ná seas in áit na bhflatha,
6 No te alabes delante del rey, Ni estés en el lugar de los grandes:
6 Prange nicht vor dem König und tritt nicht an den Ort der Großen.
7 For it is better to have it said to you, Come up here; than for you to be put down in a lower place before the ruler.
7 Car il vaut mieux qu'on te dise: Monte-ici! Que si l'on t'abaisse devant le prince que tes yeux voient.
7 Óir is fearr go ndéarfaí: “Gabh anseo aníos,” ná go ndéanfaí thú a ísliú i láthair an phrionsa. An rud a chonaic do shúile,
7 Porque mejor es que se te diga, Sube acá, Que no que seas humillado delante del príncipe Que miraron tus ojos.
7 Denn es ist dir besser, daß man zu dir sage: Tritt hier herauf! als daß du vor dem Fürsten erniedrigt wirst, daß es deine Augen sehen müssen.
8 Do not be quick to go to law about what you have seen, for what will you do in the end, when your neighbour has put you to shame?
8 Ne te hâte pas d'entrer en contestation, De peur qu'à la fin tu ne saches que faire, Lorsque ton prochain t'aura outragé.

8 No salgas á pleito presto, No sea que no sepas qué hacer al fin, Después que tu prójimo te haya dejado confuso.
8 Fahre nicht bald heraus, zu zanken; denn was willst du hernach machen, wenn dich dein Nächster beschämt hat?
9 Have a talk with your neighbour himself about your cause, but do not give away the secret of another:

9 Trata tu causa con tu compañero Y no descubras el secreto á otro.

10 Or your hearer may say evil of you, and your shame will not be turned away.
10 De peur qu'en l'apprenant il ne te couvre de honte, Et que ta mauvaise renommée ne s'efface pas.

13 As the cold of snow in the time of grain-cutting, so is a true servant to those who send him; for he gives new life to the soul of his master.
