1 And Job made answer and said,

1 Da antwortete Hiob und sprach:
2 No doubt you have knowledge, and wisdom will come to an end with you.
2 On dirait, en vérité, que le genre humain c'est vous, Et qu'avec vous doit mourir la sagesse.
2 Sibhse gan amhras lucht na tuisceana, Agus gheobhaidh an eagna bás libhse!
2 Ciertamente que vosotros sois el pueblo; Y con vosotros morirá la sabiduría.
2 Ja, ihr seid die Leute, mit euch wird die Weisheit sterben!
3 But I have a mind as well as you; I am equal to you: yes, who has not knowledge of such things as these?
3 J'ai tout aussi bien que vous de l'intelligence, moi, Je ne vous suis point inférieur; Et qui ne sait les choses que vous dites?
3 Ach tá tuiscint agamsa chomh maith libh, Agus níl an tosach agaibh orm, Agus, ó luaigh mé é, cé dó nach eol sin?
3 También tengo yo seso como vosotros; No soy yo menos que vosotros: ¿Y quién habrá que no pueda decir otro tanto?
3 Ich habe so wohl ein Herz als ihr und bin nicht geringer denn ihr; und wer ist, der solches nicht wisse?
4 It seems that I am to be as one who is a cause of laughing to his neighbour, one who makes his prayer to God and is answered! the upright man who has done no wrong is to be made sport of!
4 Je suis pour mes amis un objet de raillerie, Quand j'implore le secours de Dieu; Le juste, l'innocent, un objet de raillerie!
4 Is ceap magaidh mé do mo chairde, Mar glaoim ar Dhia agus súil agam le freagra! Níl san fhíréan gan locht ach ceap magaidh.
4 Yo soy uno de quien su amigo se mofa, Que invoca á Dios, y él le responde: Con todo, el justo y perfecto es escarnecido.
4 Ich muß von meinem Nächsten verlacht sein, der ich Gott anrief, und er erhörte mich. Der Gerechte und Fromme muß verlacht sein
5 In the thought of him who is in comfort there is no respect for one who is in trouble; such is the fate of those whose feet are slipping.
5 Au malheur le mépris! c'est la devise des heureux; A celui dont le pied chancelle est réservé le mépris.
5 An té atá ar a shuaimhneas níl ach drochmheas aige ar an ainnise, Agus sonc don té a fuair barrthuisle.
5 Aquel cuyos pies van á resbalar, Es como una lámpara despreciada de aquel que está á sus anchuras.
5 und ist ein verachtet Lichtlein vor den Gedanken der Stolzen, steht aber, daß sie sich daran ärgern.
6 There is wealth in the tents of those who make destruction, and those by whom God is moved to wrath are safe; even those whose god is their strength.
6 Il y a paix sous la tente des pillards, Sécurité pour ceux qui offensent Dieu, Pour quiconque se fait un dieu de sa force.
6 Tá an rath ar bhothanna na ladrann; Níl baol ar lucht Dia a ghriogadh, An mhuintir a rinne dia de neart a lámh.
6 Prosperan las tiendas de los ladrones, Y los que provocan á Dios viven seguros; En cuyas manos él ha puesto cuanto tienen.
6 Der Verstörer Hütten haben die Fülle, und Ruhe haben, die wider Gott toben, die ihren Gott in der Faust führen.
7 But put now a question to the beasts, and get teaching from them; or to the birds of the heaven, and they will make it clear to you;
7 Interroge les bêtes, elles t'instruiront, Les oiseaux du ciel, ils te l'apprendront;
7 Ní gá duit ach ceist a chur ar na hainmhithe agus cuirfidh siad ar an eolas thú! Nó ar éanlaith an aeir agus múinfidh siad thú;
7 Y en efecto, pregunta ahora á las bestias, que ellas te enseñarán; Y á las aves de los cielos, que ellas te lo mostrarán;
7 Frage doch das Vieh, das wird dich's lehren und die Vögel unter dem Himmel, die werden dir's sagen;
8 Or to the things which go flat on the earth, and they will give you wisdom; and the fishes of the sea will give you news of it.
8 Parle à la terre, elle t'instruira; Et les poissons de la mer te le raconteront.
8 Nó labhair leis an talamh, agus inseoidh sé duit, Agus tabharfaidh iasc na farraige eolas duit.
8 O habla á la tierra, que ella te enseñará; Los peces de la mar te lo declararán también.
8 oder rede mit der Erde, die wird dich's lehren, und die Fische im Meer werden dir's erzählen.
9 Who does not see by all these that the hand of the Lord has done this?
9 Qui ne reconnaît chez eux la preuve Que la main de l'Éternel a fait toutes choses?

9 ¿Qué cosa de todas estas no entiende Que la mano de Jehová la hizo?
9 Wer erkennte nicht an dem allem, daß des HERRN Hand solches gemacht hat?
10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all flesh of man.
10 Il tient dans sa main l'âme de tout ce qui vit, Le souffle de toute chair d'homme.
10 Tá anam gach dúile beo ina ghlaic, Agus anáil anama an chine dhaonna.
10 En su mano está el alma de todo viviente, Y el espíritu de toda carne humana.
10 daß in seiner Hand ist die Seele alles dessen, was da lebt, und der Geist des Fleisches aller Menschen?
11 Are not words tested by the ear, even as food is tasted by the mouth?
11 L'oreille ne discerne-t-elle pas les paroles, Comme le palais savoure les aliments?
11 Nach ndéanann an chluas na briathra a phromhadh Agus an carball an bia a bhlas?
11 Ciertamente el oído distingue las palabras, Y el paladar gusta las viandas.
11 Prüft nicht das Ohr die Rede? und der Mund schmeckt die Speise?
12 Old men have wisdom, and a long life gives knowledge.
12 Dans les vieillards se trouve la sagesse, Et dans une longue vie l'intelligence.
12 Leis an tseanaois a ghabhann an eagna Agus an chríonnacht le síneadh na mblianta.
12 En los viejos está la ciencia, Y en la larga edad la inteligencia.
12 Ja, "bei den Großvätern ist die Weisheit, und der Verstand bei den Alten".
13 With him there is wisdom and strength; power and knowledge are his.
13 En Dieu résident la sagesse et la puissance. Le conseil et l'intelligence lui appartiennent.

13 Con Dios está la sabiduría y la fortaleza; Suyo es el consejo y la inteligencia.
13 Bei ihm ist Weisheit und Gewalt, Rat und Verstand.
14 Truly, there is no building up of what is pulled down by him; when a man is shut up by him, no one may let him loose.
14 Ce qu'il renverse ne sera point rebâti, Celui qu'il enferme ne sera point délivré.
14 Má leag sé anuas, níl tógáil i ndán; Má chuireann sé duine i ngéibheann, níl fuascailt ann dó;
14 He aquí, él derribará, y no será edificado: Encerrará al hombre, y no habrá quien le abra.
14 Siehe, wenn er zerbricht, so hilft kein Bauen; wenn er jemand einschließt, kann niemand aufmachen.
15 Truly, he keeps back the waters and they are dry; he sends them out and the earth is overturned.
15 Il retient les eaux et tout se dessèche; Il les lâche, et la terre en est dévastée.
15 Má stopann sé na huiscí, téann siad i ndísc; Má scaoileann sé leo, bánn siad an talamh.
15 He aquí, el detendrá las aguas, y se secarán; El las enviará, y destruirán la tierra.
15 Siehe, wenn er das Wasser verschließt, so wird alles dürr; und wenn er's ausläßt, so kehrt es das Land um.
16 With him are strength and wise designs; he who is guided into error, together with his guide, are in his hands;
16 Il possède la force et la prudence; Il maîtrise celui qui s'égare ou fait égarer les autres.

16 Con él está la fortaleza y la existencia; Suyo es el que yerra, y el que hace errar.
16 Er ist stark und führt es aus. Sein ist, der da irrt und der da verführt.
17 He takes away the wisdom of the wise guides, and makes judges foolish;
17 Il emmène captifs les conseillers; Il trouble la raison des juges.
17 Fágann sé comhairleoirí ag siúl cosnochta Agus breithiúna ina n‑amadáin.
17 El hace andar á los consejeros desnudos de consejo, Y hace enloquecer á los jueces.
17 Er führt die Klugen wie einen Raub und macht die Richter toll.
18 He undoes the chains of kings, and puts his band on them;
18 Il délie la ceinture des rois, Il met une corde autour de leurs reins.

18 El suelta la atadura de los tiranos, Y ata el cinto á sus lomos.
18 Er löst auf der Könige Zwang und bindet mit einem Gurt ihre Lenden.
19 He makes priests prisoners, overturning those in safe positions;

20 He makes the words of responsible persons without effect, and takes away the good sense of the old;

22 Uncovering deep things out of the dark, and making the deep shade bright;
22 Il met à découvert ce qui est caché dans les ténèbres, Il produit à la lumière l'ombre de la mort.

22 El descubre las profundidades de las tinieblas, Y saca á luz la sombra de muerte.

23 Increasing nations, and sending destruction on them; making wide the lands of peoples, and then giving them up.
23 Il donne de l'accroissement aux nations, et il les anéantit; Il les étend au loin, et il les ramène dans leurs limites.
23 Mórann sé náisiúin agus ansin déanann iad a threascairt; Cuireann sé an rath ar chiníocha agus ansin déanann iad a mhilleadh.
23 El multiplica las gentes, y él las destruye: El esparce las gentes, y las torna á recoger.
23 Er macht etliche zu großem Volk und bringt sie wieder um. Er breitet ein Volk aus und treibt es wieder weg.
24 He takes away the wisdom of the rulers of the earth, and sends them wandering in a waste where there is no way.
24 Il enlève l'intelligence aux chefs des peuples, Il les fait errer dans les déserts sans chemin;
24 Sciobann sé ar shiúl tuiscint lucht ceannais na tíre, Agus fágann iad ar guardal i bhfásach gan treoir;
24 El quita el seso de las cabezas del pueblo de la tierra, Y háceles que se pierdan vagueando sin camino:
24 Er nimmt weg den Mut der Obersten des Volkes im Lande und macht sie irre auf einem Umwege, da kein Weg ist,
25 They go feeling about in the dark without light, wandering without help like those overcome with wine.
25 Ils tâtonnent dans les ténèbres, et ne voient pas clair; Il les fait errer comme des gens ivres.
