1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. He was without sin and upright, fearing God and keeping himself far from evil.
1 Il y avait dans le pays d'Uts un homme qui s'appelait Job. Et cet homme était intègre et droit; il craignait Dieu, et se détournait du mal.
1 Bhí fear ann fadó i dtír Úz darbh ainm Iób. Duine ionraic fónta ab ea é; bhí eagla Dé air agus sheachain sé an t‑olc.
1 HUBO un varón en tierra de Hus, llamado Job; y era este hombre perfecto y recto, y temeroso de Dios, y apartado del mal.
1 Es war ein Mann im Lande Uz, der hieß Hiob. Derselbe war schlecht und recht, gottesfürchtig und mied das Böse.
2 And he had seven sons and three daughters.
2 Il lui naquit sept fils et trois filles.
2 Rugadh seachtar mac agus triúr iníonacha dó.
2 Y naciéronle siete hijos y tres hijas.
2 Und zeugte sieben Söhne und drei Töchter;
3 And of cattle he had seven thousand sheep and goats, and three thousand camels, and a thousand oxen, and five hundred she-asses, and a very great number of servants. And the man was greater than any of the sons of the east.
3 Il possédait sept mille brebis, trois mille chameaux, cinq cents paires de boeufs, cinq cents ânesses, et un très grand nombre de serviteurs. Et cet homme était le plus considérable de tous les fils de l'Orient.
3 Bhí seacht míle caora, trí mhíle camall, cúig céad cuingir damh, cúig céad asal baineann, agus líon tí raidhsiúil aige.
3 Y su hacienda era siete mil ovejas, y tres mil camellos, y quinientas yuntas de bueyes, y quinientas asnas, y muchísimos criados: y era aquel varón grande más que todos los Orientales.
3 und seines Viehs waren siebentausend Schafe, dreitausend Kamele, fünfhundert Joch Rinder und fünfhundert Eselinnen, und er hatte viel Gesinde; und er war herrlicher denn alle, die gegen Morgen wohnten.
4 His sons regularly went to one another's houses, and every one on his day gave a feast: and at these times they sent for their three sisters to take part in their feasts with them.
4 Ses fils allaient les uns chez les autres et donnaient tour à tour un festin, et ils invitaient leurs trois soeurs à manger et à boire avec eux.
4 Bhí ghnáth lena chlann mhac dul agus fleá a bheith acu i dteach a chéile ar a n‑uain; agus chuiridís teachtairí chun a ndeirfiúracha le cuireadh dóibh chun bia agus deoch a chaitheamh leo.
4 E iban sus hijos y hacían banquetes en sus casas, cada uno en su día; y enviaban á llamar sus tres hermanas, para que comiesen y bebiesen con ellos.
4 Und seine Söhne gingen und machten ein Mahl, ein jeglicher in seinem Hause auf seinen Tag, und sandten hin und luden ihre drei Schwestern, mit ihnen zu essen und zu trinken.
5 And at the end of their days of feasting, Job sent and made them clean, getting up early in the morning and offering burned offerings for them all. For, Job said, It may be that my sons have done wrong and said evil of God in their hearts. And Job did this whenever the feasts came round.
5 Et quand les jours de festin étaient passés, Job appelait et sanctifiait ses fils, puis il se levait de bon matin et offrait pour chacun d'eux un holocauste; car Job disait: Peut-être mes fils ont-ils péché et ont-ils offensé Dieu dans leur coeur. C'est ainsi que Job avait coutume d'agir.
5 Nuair a bhíodh an cúrsa fleá thart chuireadh Iób fios orthu teacht agus iad féin a íonghlanadh; d'éiríodh sé go moch ar maidin agus d'ofráladh sé íobairtí uileloiscthe thar cheann gach duine díobh go léir. Óir deireadh Iób: “Cá bhfios nár pheacaigh mo chlann mhac agus nár thug siad masla do Dhia ina gcroí?” Mar sin a rinne Iób i gcónaí.
5 Y acontecía que, habiendo pasado en turno los días del convite, Job enviaba y santificábalos, y levantábase de mañana y ofrecía holocaustos conforme al número de todos ellos. Porque decía Job: Quizá habrán pecado mis hijos, y habrán blasfemado á Dios en sus corazones. De esta manera hacía todos los días.
5 Und wenn die Tage des Mahls um waren, sandte Hiob hin und heiligte sie und machte sich des Morgens früh auf und opferte Brandopfer nach ihrer aller Zahl; denn Hiob gedachte: Meine Söhne möchten gesündigt und Gott abgesagt haben in ihrem Herzen. Also tat Hiob allezeit.
6 And there was a day when the sons of the gods came together before the Lord, and the Satan came with them.
6 Or, les fils de Dieu vinrent un jour se présenter devant l'Éternel, et Satan vint aussi au milieu d'eux.
6 Tharla aon lá amháin, gur tháinig clann Dé i láthair an Tiarna, agus tháinig an Sátan mar an gcéanna ina measc.
6 Y un día vinieron los hijos de Dios á presentarse delante de Jehová, entre los cuales vino también Satán.
6 Es begab sich aber auf einen Tag, da die Kinder Gottes kamen und vor den HERRN traten, kam der Satan auch unter ihnen.
7 And the Lord said to the Satan, Where do you come from? And the Satan said in answer, From wandering this way and that on the earth, and walking about on it.
7 L'Éternel dit à Satan: D'où viens-tu? Et Satan répondit à l'Éternel: De parcourir la terre et de m'y promener.
7 Agus dúirt an Tiarna leis an Sátan: “Cá has a dtáinig tú?” D'fhreagair an Sátan an Tiarna agus dúirt: “Ó bheith ag fuaidreamh ar fud an domhain, agus ag siúl anonn is anall ann.”
7 Y dijo Jehová á Satán: ¿De dónde vienes? Y respondiendo Satán á Jehová, dijo: De rodear la tierra, y de andar por ella.
7 Der HERR aber sprach zu dem Satan: Wo kommst du her? Satan antwortete dem HERRN und sprach: Ich habe das Land umher durchzogen.
8 And the Lord said to the Satan, Have you taken note of my servant Job, for there is no one like him on the earth, a man without sin and upright, fearing God and keeping himself far from evil?
8 L'Éternel dit à Satan: As-tu remarqué mon serviteur Job? Il n'y a personne comme lui sur la terre; c'est un homme intègre et droit, craignant Dieu, et se détournant du mal.
8 Agus dúirt an Tiarna leis an Sátan: “Ar thug tú mo sheirbhíseach Iób faoi deara? Níl a leithéid eile ar domhan; fear ionraic fónta is ea é, tá eagla Dé air agus seachnaíonn sé an t‑olc.”
8 Y Jehová dijo á Satán: ¿No has considerado á mi siervo Job, que no hay otro como él en la tierra, varón perfecto y recto, temeroso de Dios, y apartado de mal?
8 Der HERR sprach zu Satan: Hast du nicht achtgehabt auf meinen Knecht Hiob? Denn es ist seinesgleichen nicht im Lande, schlecht und recht, gottesfürchtig und meidet das Böse.
9 And the Satan said in answer to the Lord, Is it for nothing that Job is a god-fearing man?
9 Et Satan répondit à l'Éternel: Est-ce d'une manière désintéressée que Job craint Dieu?
9 Agus d'fhreagair an Sátan an Tiarna agus dúirt: “An gan fáth atá eagla Dé ar Iób?
9 Y respondiendo Satán á Jehová, dijo: ¿Teme Job á Dios de balde?
9 Der Satan antwortete dem HERRN und sprach: Meinst du, daß Hiob umsonst Gott fürchtet?
10 Have you yourself not put a wall round him and his house and all he has on every side, blessing the work of his hands, and increasing his cattle in the land?
10 Ne l'as-tu pas protégé, lui, sa maison, et tout ce qui est à lui? Tu as béni l'oeuvre de ses mains, et ses troupeaux couvrent le pays.
10 Nach ndearna tú féin fál ina thimpeall agus i dtimpeall a thí agus i dtimpeall a bhfuil aige ar gach taobh? Bheannaigh tú saothar a lámh agus mhéadaigh a mhaoin sa tír.
10 ¿No le has tú cercado á él, y á su casa, y á todo lo que tiene en derredor? Al trabajo de sus manos has dado bendición; por tanto su hacienda ha crecido sobre la tierra.
10 Hast du doch ihn, sein Haus und alles, was er hat, ringsumher verwahrt. Du hast das Werk seiner Hände gesegnet, und sein Gut hat sich ausgebreitet im Lande.
11 But now, put out your hand against all he has, and he will be cursing you to your face.
11 Mais étends ta main, touche à tout ce qui lui appartient, et je suis sûr qu'il te maudit en face.
11 Sín amach do lámh, más ea, agus leag í ar a bhfuil aige, agus is deimhin go ndéanfaidh sé thú a mhaslú le do bhéal.”
11 Mas extiende ahora tu mano, y toca á todo lo que tiene, y verás si no te blasfema en tu rostro.
11 Aber recke deine Hand aus und taste an alles, was er hat: was gilt's, er wird dir ins Angesicht absagen?
12 And the Lord said to the Satan, See, I give all he has into your hands, only do not put a finger on the man himself. And the Satan went out from before the Lord.
12 L'Éternel dit à Satan: Voici, tout ce qui lui appartient, je te le livre; seulement, ne porte pas la main sur lui. Et Satan se retira de devant la face de l'Éternel.
12 Agus dúirt an Tiarna leis an Sátan: “Féach, an uile ní dá bhfuil aige, tá sé faoi do smacht; ach air féin amháin ná leag do lámh.” Agus leis sin chuaigh an Sátan amach as láthair an Tiarna.
12 Y dijo Jehová á Satán: He aquí, todo lo que tiene está en tu mano: solamente no pongas tu mano sobre él. Y salióse Satán de delante de Jehová.
12 Der HERR sprach zum Satan: Siehe, alles, was er hat, sei in deiner Hand; nur an ihn selbst lege deine Hand nicht. Da ging der Satan aus von dem HERRN.
13 And there was a day when his sons and daughters were feasting in the house of their oldest brother,
13 Un jour que les fils et les filles de Job mangeaient et buvaient du vin dans la maison de leur frère aîné,
13 Lá dá raibh a chlann mhac agus iníonacha ag ól fíona i dteach an dearthár ba shine acu,
13 Y un día aconteció que sus hijos é hijas comían y bebían vino en casa de su hermano el primogénito,
13 Des Tages aber, da seine Söhne und Töchter aßen und Wein tranken in ihres Bruders Hause, des Erstgeborenen,
14 And a man came to Job, and said, The oxen were ploughing, and the asses were taking their food by their side:
14 il arriva auprès de Job un messager qui dit: Les boeufs labouraient et les ânesses paissaient à côté d'eux;
14 tháinig teachtaire ag triall ar Iób, agus dúirt leis: “Bhí an damhra ag treabhadh agus na hasail bhaineanna ag iníor ina ngaire
14 Y vino un mensajero á Job, que le dijo: Estando arando los bueyes, y las asnas paciendo cerca de ellos,
14 kam ein Bote zu Hiob und sprach: Die Rinder pflügten, und die Eselinnen gingen neben ihnen auf der Weide,
15 And the men of Sheba came against them and took them away, putting the young men to the sword, and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.
15 des Sabéens se sont jetés dessus, les ont enlevés, et ont passé les serviteurs au fil de l'épée. Et je me suis échappé moi seul, pour t'en apporter la nouvelle.
15 agus rinne na Saibéanaigh ruathar orthu gur sciobadar leo iad, agus mharaíodar na seirbhísigh le faobhar claímh; agus níor tháinig fear inste scéil as ach mise amháin.”
15 Acometieron los Sabeos, y tomáronlos, é hirieron á los mozos á filo de espada: solamente escapé yo para traerte las nuevas.
15 da fielen die aus Saba herein und nahmen sie und schlugen die Knechte mit der Schärfe des Schwerts; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.
16 And this one was still talking when another came, and said, The fire of God came down from heaven, burning up the sheep and the goats and the young men completely, and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.
16 Il parlait encore, lorsqu'un autre vint et dit: Le feu de Dieu est tombé du ciel, a embrasé les brebis et les serviteurs, et les a consumés. Et je me suis échappé moi seul, pour t'en apporter la nouvelle.
16 Le linn dósan a bheith ag caint, tháinig duine eile agus dúirt: “Thit tine le Dia ó neamh agus dhóigh an tréad agus na seirbhísigh, á loscadh go hiomlán; agus níor tháinig fear inste scéil as ach mise amháin.”
16 Aun estaba éste hablando, y vino otro que dijo: Fuego de Dios cayó del cielo, que quemó las ovejas y los mozos, y los consumió: solamente escapé yo solo para traerte las nuevas.
16 Da er noch redete, kam ein anderer und sprach: Das Feuer Gottes fiel vom Himmel und verbrannte Schafe und Knechte und verzehrte sie; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.
17 And this one was still talking when another came, and said, The Chaldaeans made themselves into three bands, and came down on the camels and took them away, putting the young men to the sword, and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.
17 Il parlait encore, lorsqu'un autre vint et dit: Des Chaldéens, formés en trois bandes, se sont jetés sur les chameaux, les ont enlevés, et ont passé les serviteurs au fil de l'épée. Et je me suis échappé moi seul, pour t'en apporter la nouvelle.
17 Agus le linn dósan a bheith ag caint, tháinig duine eile agus dúirt: “Rinne na Caildéigh trí bhuíon díobh féin agus thugadar ruaig chreiche faoi na camaill gur sciobadar leo iad, agus chloíodar na seirbhísigh le faobhar a gclaímh, agus níor tháinig fear inste scéil as ach mise amháin.”
17 Todavía estaba éste hablando, y vino otro que dijo: Los Caldeos hicieron tres escuadrones, y dieron sobre los camellos, y tomáronlos, é hirieron á los mozos á filo de espada; y solamente escapé yo solo para traerte las nuevas.
17 Da der noch redete, kam einer und sprach: Die Chaldäer machte drei Rotten und überfielen die Kamele und nahmen sie und schlugen die Knechte mit der Schärfe des Schwerts; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.
18 And this one was still talking when another came, and said, Your sons and your daughters were feasting together in their oldest brother's house,
18 Il parlait encore, lorsqu'un autre vint et dit: Tes fils et tes filles mangeaient et buvaient du vin dans la maison de leur frère aîné;
18 Agus fad a bhí seisean fós ag caint tháinig duine eile mar an gcéanna a dúirt: “Bhí do chlann mhac agus iníon ag ithe agus ag ól i dteach an dearthár ba shine acu,
18 Entre tanto que éste hablaba, vino otro que dijo: Tus hijos y tus hijas estaban comiendo y bebiendo vino en casa de su hermano el primogénito;
18 Da der noch redete, kam einer und sprach: Deine Söhne und Töchter aßen und tranken im Hause ihres Bruders, des Erstgeborenen,
19 When a great wind came rushing from the waste land against the four sides of the house, and it came down on the young men, and they are dead; and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.
19 et voici, un grand vent est venu de l'autre côté du désert, et a frappé contre les quatre coins de la maison; elle s'est écroulée sur les jeunes gens, et ils sont morts. Et je me suis échappé moi seul, pour t'en apporter la nouvelle.
19 agus féach! tháinig gaoth mhór anall thar an bhfásach agus bhuail ceithre chúinne an tí i dtreo gur thit sé anuas ar na daoine óga gur éagadar uile, agus nár tháinig fear inste scéil as ach mise amháin.”
19 Y he aquí un gran viento que vino del lado del desierto, é hirió las cuatro esquinas de la casa, y cayó sobre los mozos, y murieron; y solamente escapé yo solo para traerte las nuevas.
19 Und siehe, da kam ein großer Wind von der Wüste her und stieß auf die vier Ecken des Hauses und warf's auf die jungen Leute, daß sie starben; und ich bin allein entronnen, daß ich dir's ansagte.
20 Then Job got up, and after parting his clothing and cutting off his hair, he went down on his face to the earth, and gave worship, and said,
20 Alors Job se leva, déchira son manteau, et se rasa la tête; puis, se jetant par terre, il se prosterna,
20 D'éirigh Iób ansin agus stróic a fhallaing agus bhearr a bhaithis, agus thit ar an talamh agus d'umhlaigh sé é féin síos
20 Entonces Job se levantó, y rasgó su manto, y trasquiló su cabeza, y cayendo en tierra adoró;
20 Da stand Hiob auf und zerriß seine Kleider und raufte sein Haupt und fiel auf die Erde und betete an
21 With nothing I came out of my mother's body, and with nothing I will go back there; the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; let the Lord's name be praised.
21 et dit: Je suis sorti nu du sein de ma mère, et nu je retournerai dans le sein de la terre. L'Éternel a donné, et l'Éternel a ôté; que le nom de l'Éternel soit béni!
21 á rá: “Tarrnocht a tháinig mé as broinn mo mháthar, Agus tarrnocht a fhillfidh mé inti arís. An Tiarna a bhronn orm, agus an Tiarna a rug uaim. Moladh le hainm an Tiarna.”
21 Y dijo: Desnudo salí del vientre de mi madre, y desnudo tornaré allá. Jehová dió, y Jehová quitó: sea el nombre de Jehová bendito.
21 und sprach: Ich bin nackt von meiner Mutter Leibe gekommen, nackt werde ich wieder dahinfahren. Der HERR hat's gegeben, der HERR hat's genommen; der Name des HERRN sei gelobt.
22 In all this Job did no sin, and did not say that God's acts were foolish.
22 En tout cela, Job ne pécha point et n'attribua rien d'injuste à Dieu.
