1 Now when word was given to Sanballat and Tobiah and to Geshem the Arabian and to the rest of our haters, that I had done the building of the wall and that there were no more broken places in it (though even then I had not put up the doors in the doorways);
1 Je n'avais pas encore posé les battants des portes, lorsque Sanballat, Tobija, Guéschem, l'Arabe, et nos autres ennemis apprirent que j'avais rebâti la muraille et qu'il n'y restait plus de brèche.
1 Nuair a chuala Sanballat, Tóibíá agus Geisim an tArabach agus ár naimhde eile go raibh an balla atógtha agam, gan bearna fágtha ann - cé nach raibh na comhlaí curtha agam ar na geataí fós -
1 Y Fué que habiendo oído Sanballat, y Tobías, y Gesem el Arabe, y los demás nuestros enemigos, que había yo edificado el muro, y que no quedaba en él portillo, (aunque hasta aquel tiempo no había puesto en las puertas las hojas,)
1 Und da Saneballat, Tobia und Gesem, der Araber, und unsre Feinde erfuhren, daß ich die Mauer gebaut hatte und keine Lücke mehr daran wäre, wiewohl ich die Türen zu der Zeit noch nicht eingehängt hatte in den Toren,
2 Sanballat and Geshem sent to me saying, Come, let us have a meeting in one of the little towns in the lowland of Ono. But their purpose was to do me evil.
2 Alors Sanballat et Guéschem m'envoyèrent dire: Viens, et ayons ensemble une entrevue dans les villages de la vallée d'Ono. Ils avaient médité de me faire du mal.
2 chuir Sanballat agus Geisim teachtaireacht chugam: “Tar agus buail linn i gceann de na bailte i nGleann Ónó.” Bhí urchóid éigin beartaithe acu dom.
2 Sanballat y Gesem enviaron á decirme: Ven, y compongámonos juntos en alguna de las aldeas en el campo de Ono. Mas ellos habían pensado hacerme mal.
2 sandte Sanaballat und Gesem zu mir und ließen mir sagen: Komm und laß uns zusammenkommen in den Dörfern in der Fläche Ono! Sie gedachten mir aber Böses zu tun.
3 And I sent men to them saying, I am doing a great work, so that it is not possible for me to come down: is the work to be stopped while I go away from it and come down to you?
3 Je leur envoyai des messagers avec cette réponse: J'ai un grand ouvrage à exécuter, et je ne puis descendre; le travail serait interrompu pendant que je quitterais pour aller vers vous.
3 Chuir mé teachtairí chucu dá bhrí sin á rá: “Tá beartas mór ar bun agam agus dá bhrí sin ní féidir dom dul síos. Stadfadh an obair dá bhfágfainn ann í agus dul síos chugaibh.”
3 Y enviéles mensajeros, diciendo: Yo hago una grande obra, y no puedo ir; porque cesaría la obra, dejándola yo para ir á vosotros.
3 Ich aber sandte Boten zu ihnen und ließ ihnen sagen: Ich habe ein großes Geschäft auszurichten, ich kann nicht hinabkommen; es möchte das Werk nachbleiben, wo ich die Hände abtäte und zu euch hinabzöge.
4 And four times they sent to me in this way, and I sent them the same answer.
4 Ils m'adressèrent quatre fois la même demande, et je leur fis la même réponse.
4 Chuir siad fios orm ceithre huaire ar an tslí sin, agus thug mé an freagra céanna orthu.
4 Y enviaron á mí con el mismo asunto por cuatro veces, y yo les respondí de la misma manera.
4 Sie sandten aber viermal zu mir auf diese Weise, und ich antwortete ihnen auf diese Weise.
5 Then Sanballat sent his servant to me a fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
5 Sanballat m'envoya ce message une cinquième fois par son serviteur, qui tenait à la main une lettre ouverte.
5 Chuir Sanballat, ar an intinn chéanna, a sheirbhíseach chugam den chúigiú huair le litir oscailte.
5 Envió entonces Sanballat á mí su criado, á decir lo mismo por quinta vez, con una carta abierta en su mano,
5 Da sandte Saneballat zum fünftenmal zu mir seinen Diener mit einem offenen Brief in seiner Hand.
6 And in it these words were recorded: It is said among the nations, and Geshem says so, that you and the Jews are hoping to make yourselves free from the king's authority; and that this is why you are building the wall: and they say that it is your purpose to be their king;
6 Il y était écrit: Le bruit se répand parmi les nations et Gaschmu affirme que toi et les Juifs vous pensez à vous révolter, et que c'est dans ce but que tu rebâtis la muraille. Tu vas, dit-on, devenir leur roi,
6 Seo mar a bhí scríofa inti: “Tá sé ina scéal reatha i measc na gciníocha, de réir mar a deir Geisim, go bhfuil ceannairc á beartú agatsa agus ag na Giúdaigh, agus gur chuige sin atá tú ag tógáil an bhalla, agus go bhfuil tú féin le bheith i do rí;
6 En la cual estaba escrito: Hase oído entre las gentes, y Gasmu lo dice, que tú y los Judíos pensáis rebelaros; y que por eso edificas tú el muro, con la mira, según estas palabras, de ser tú su rey;
6 Darin war geschrieben: Es ist vor die Heiden gekommen, und Gesem hat's gesagt, daß du und die Juden gedenkt abzufallen, darum du die Mauer baust, und wollest also König werden;
7 And that you have prophets preaching about you in Jerusalem, and saying, There is a king in Judah: now an account of these things will be sent to the king. So come now, and let us have a discussion.
7 tu as même établi des prophètes pour te proclamer à Jérusalem roi de Juda. Et maintenant ces choses arriveront à la connaissance du roi. Viens donc, et consultons-nous ensemble.
7 gur thug tú treoracha d'fháithe a fhógairt ar mhaithe leat in Iarúsailéim: ‘Tá rí ag Iúdá.’ Cloisfidh an rí na ráflaí seo go luath i dtreo go mb'fhearr duit teacht, más ea, agus cúrsaí a phlé linn.”
7 Y que has puesto profetas que prediquen de ti en Jerusalem, diciendo: ¡Rey en Judá! Y ahora serán oídas del rey las tales palabras: ven por tanto, y consultemos juntos.
7 und du habest die Propheten bestellt, die von dir ausrufen sollen zu Jerusalem und sagen: Er ist der König Juda's. Nun, solches wird vor den König kommen. So komm nun und laß uns miteinander ratschlagen!
8 Then I sent to him, saying, No such things as you say are being done, they are only a fiction you have made up yourself.
8 Je fis répondre à Sanballat: Ce que tu dis là n'est pas; c'est toi qui l'inventes!
8 Chuir mé freagra ar ais chuige ar an méid sin: “Maidir lena bhfuil ráite agat, níor tharla aon ní dá leithéid; cumadóireacht as barr do chinn féin é go léir.”
8 Entonces envié yo á decirles: No hay tal cosa como dices, sino que de tu corazón tú lo inventas.
8 Ich aber sandte zu ihm und ließ ihm sagen: Solches ist nicht geschehen, was du sagst; du hast es aus deinem Herzen erdacht.
9 For they were hoping to put fear in us, saying, Their hands will become feeble and give up the work so that it may not get done. But now, O God, make my hands strong.
9 Tous ces gens voulaient nous effrayer, et ils se disaient: Ils perdront courage, et l'oeuvre ne se fera pas. Maintenant, ô Dieu, fortifie-moi!
9 Óir bhíodar ag iarraidh eagla a chur orainn; dúirt siad leo féin: “Tuirseoidh a lámha ón obair, agus ní chuirfear críoch go brách léi.” Ach idir an dá linn bhí neart breise [á chur] i mo lámha agam.
9 Porque todos ellos nos ponían miedo, diciendo: Debilitaránse las manos de ellos en la obra, y no será hecha. Esfuerza pues mis manos, oh Dios.
9 Denn sie alle wollen uns furchtsam machen und gedachten: Sie sollen die Hand abtun vom Geschäft, daß es nicht fertig werde, aber nun stärke meine Hände!
10 And I went to the house of Shemaiah, the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us have a meeting in the house of God, inside the Temple, and let the doors be shut: for they will come to put you to death; truly, in the night they will come to put you to death.
10 Je me rendis chez Schemaeja, fils de Delaja, fils de Mehétabeel. Il s'était enfermé, et il dit: Allons ensemble dans la maison de Dieu, au milieu du temple, et fermons les portes du temple; car ils viennent pour te tuer, et c'est pendant la nuit qu'ils viendront pour te tuer.
10 Thug mé cuaird ar Sheamaiá mac Dhaláiá mac Mhahaetabael mar go raibh cosc air teacht chugam. Dúirt sé: “Buailimis le chéile i dTeampall Dé, i ndiamhra an tsanctóra; Dúnaimis doirse an tsanctóra, Óir tá siad ag teacht ar tí do mharaithe, Tá siad ag teacht ar tí do mharaithe anocht.”
10 Vine luego en secreto á casa de Semaías hijo de Delaías, hijo de Mehetabeel, porque él estaba encerrado; el cual me dijo: Juntémonos en la casa de Dios dentro del templo, y cerremos las puertas del templo, porque vienen para matarte; sí, esta noche vendrán á matarte.
10 Und ich kam in das Haus Semajas, des Sohnes Delajas, des Sohnes Mehetabeels; und er hatte sich verschlossen und sprach: Laß uns zusammenkommen im Hause Gottes mitten im Tempel und die Türen zuschließen; denn sie werden kommen, dich zu erwürgen, und werden bei der Nacht kommen, daß sie dich erwürgen.
11 And I said, Am I the sort of man to go in flight? what man, in my position, would go into the Temple to keep himself safe? I will not go in.
11 Je répondis: Un homme comme moi prendre la fuite! Et quel homme tel que moi pourrait entrer dans le temple et vivre? Je n'entrerai point.
11 Ach d'fhreagair mé: “An dteithfeadh mo leithéidse? An rachadh fear de mo sheasamhsa isteach sa sanctoir lena anam a shabháil? Ní rachaidh mé!”
11 Entonces dije: ¿Un hombre como yo ha de huir? ¿y quién, que como yo fuera, entraría al templo para salvar la vida? No entraré.
11 Ich aber sprach: Sollte ein solcher Mann fliehen? Sollte ein solcher Mann, wie ich bin, in den Tempel gehen, daß er lebendig bleibe? Ich will nicht hineingehen.
12 Then it became clear to me that God had not sent him: he had given this word of a prophet against me himself: and Tobiah and Sanballat had given him money to do so.
12 Et je reconnus que ce n'était pas Dieu qui l'envoyait. Mais il prophétisa ainsi sur moi parce que Sanballat et Tobija lui avaient donné de l'argent.
12 Thuig mé agus chonaic mé nach amhlaidh a chuir Dia é le hé sin a rá, ach gur fhógair sé an t‑oracal sin orm mar go raibh Tóibíá [agus Sanballat] á dhíol,
12 Y entendí que Dios no lo había enviado, sino que hablaba aquella profecía contra mí, porque Tobías y Sanballat le habían alquilado por salario.
12 Denn ich merkte, daß ihn Gott nicht gesandt hatte. Denn er sagte wohl Weissagung auf mich; aber Tobia und Saneballat hatten ihm Geld gegeben.
13 For this reason they had given him money, in order that I might be overcome by fear and do what he said and do wrong, and so they would have reason to say evil about me and put shame on me.
13 En le gagnant ainsi, ils espéraient que j'aurais peur, et que je suivrais ses avis et commettrais un péché; et ils auraient profité de cette atteinte à ma réputation pour me couvrir d'opprobre.
13 le go ndéanfainn é sin le barr scanradh, agus go ndéanfainn peaca le go bhféadfaidís mo cháil a mhilleadh agus fonóid a dhéanamh fúm.
13 Porque sobornado fué para hacerme temer así, y que pecase, y les sirviera de mal nombre con que fuera yo infamado.
13 Darum nahm er Geld, auf daß ich mich fürchten sollte und also tun und sündigen, daß sie ein böses Gerücht hätten, damit sie mich lästern möchten.
14 Keep in mind, O my God, Tobiah and Sanballat and what they did, and Noadiah, the woman prophet, and the rest of the prophets whose purpose was to put fear into me.
14 Souviens-toi, ô mon Dieu, de Tobija et de Sanballat, et de leurs oeuvres! Souviens-toi aussi de Noadia, la prophétesse, et des autres prophètes qui cherchaient à m'effrayer!
14 Cuimhnigh, a Dhia, ar Thóibíá agus ar Shanballat de bharr a ndearna siad; agus ar Nóaidiá an banfháidh agus ar na fáithe eile a bhí ag iarraidh scanradh a chur orm.
14 Acuérdate, Dios mío, de Tobías y de Sanballat, conforme á estas sus obras, y también de Noadías profetisa, y de los otros profetas que hacían por ponerme miedo.
14 Gedenke, mein Gott, des Tobia und Saneballat nach diesen Werken, auch der Prophetin Noadja und der anderen Propheten, die mich wollten abschrecken!
15 So the wall was complete on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.
15 La muraille fut achevée le vingt-cinquième jour du mois d'Élul, en cinquante-deux jours.
15 Bhí an balla réidh dá bhrí sin faoi cheann dhá lá déag agus daichead, ar an gcúigiú lá fichead d'Ealúl.
15 Acabóse pues el muro el veinticinco del mes de Elul, en cincuenta y dos días.
15 Und die Mauer ward fertig am fünfundzwanzigsten Tage des Monats Elul in zweiundfünfzig Tagen.
16 And when our haters had news of this, all the nations round about us were full of fear and were greatly shamed, for they saw that this work had been done by our God.
16 Lorsque tous nos ennemis l'apprirent, toutes les nations qui étaient autour de nous furent dans la crainte; elles éprouvèrent une grande humiliation, et reconnurent que l'oeuvre s'était accomplie par la volonté de notre Dieu.
16 Nuair a chuala ár naimhde ina thaobh, agus go bhfaca na ciníocha máguaird é, chuir sé alltacht orthu; bhí drochmheas acu ar ár naimhde agus d'admhaíodar gur le cabhair ár nDé a cuireadh an obair i gcrích.
16 Y como lo oyeron todos nuestros enemigos, temieron todas las gentes que estaban en nuestros alrededores, y abatiéronse mucho sus ojos, y conocieron que por nuestro Dios había sido hecha esta obra.
16 Und da alle unsre Feinde das hörten, fürchteten sich alle Heiden, die um uns her waren, und der Mut entfiel ihnen; denn sie merkten, daß dies Werk von Gott war.
17 And further, in those days the chiefs of Judah sent a number of letters to Tobiah, and his letters came to them.
17 Dans ce temps-là, il y avait aussi des grands de Juda qui adressaient fréquemment des lettres à Tobija et qui en recevaient de lui.
17 I rith an ama chéanna seo bhí a lán de mhaithe Iúdá ag cur litreacha go tiubh go Tóibíá, agus bhí litreacha óThóibíá ag teacht chucu;
17 Asimismo en aquellos días iban muchas cartas de los principales de Judá á Tobías, y las de Tobías venían á ellos.
17 Auch waren zu derselben Zeit viele der Obersten Juda's, deren Briefe gingen zu Tobia und von Tobia zu ihnen.
18 For in Judah there were a number of people who had made an agreement by oath with him, because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah, the son of Arah; and his son Jehohanan had taken as his wife the daughter of Meshullam, the son of Berechiah.
18 Car plusieurs en Juda étaient liés à lui par serment, parce qu'il était gendre de Schecania, fils d'Arach, et que son fils Jochanan avait pris la fille de Meschullam, fils de Bérékia.
18 mar bhí mórán in Iarúsailéim faoi ghéillsine mionn dó mar ba chliamhain é do Sheacainiá mac Árach, agus bhí a mhac Iahóchánán pósta le hiníon Mhisiulám mac Bheiriceá.
18 Porque muchos en Judá se habían conjurado con él, porque era yerno de Sechânías hijo de Ara; y Johanán su hijo había tomado la hija de Mesullam, hijo de Berechîas.
18 Denn ihrer waren viel in Juda, die ihm geschworen waren; denn er war der Eidam Sechanjas, des Sohnes Arahs, und sein Sohn Johanan hatte die Tochter Mesullams, des Sohnes Berechjas.
19 And they said much before me of the good he had done, and gave him accounts of my words. And Tobiah sent letters with the purpose of causing me fear.
19 Ils disaient même du bien de lui en ma présence, et ils lui rapportaient mes paroles. Tobija envoyait des lettres pour m'effrayer.
