1 Then there was a great outcry from the people and their wives against their countrymen the Jews.
1 Il s'éleva de la part des gens du peuple et de leurs femmes de grandes plaintes contre leurs frères les Juifs.
1 Ansin chrom na gnáthdhaoine agus a gcuid ban ag gearán go géar agus go garg in aghaidh a gcomhGhiúdach.
1 Entonces fué grande el clamor del pueblo y de sus mujeres contra los Judíos sus hermanos.
1 Und es erhob sich ein großes Geschrei des Volkes und ihrer Weiber wider ihre Brüder, die Juden.
2 For there were some who said, We, our sons and our daughters, are a great number: let us get grain, so that we may have food for our needs.
2 Les uns disaient: Nous, nos fils et nos filles, nous sommes nombreux; qu'on nous donne du blé, afin que nous mangions et que nous vivions.
2 Dúirt cuid acu: “Tá d'iallach orainn ár mic agus ar n‑iníonacha [a mhalartú] chun go leor arbhair a fháil le hithe agus le teacht slán.”
2 Y había quien decía: Nosotros, nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas, somos muchos: hemos por tanto tomado grano para comer y vivir.
2 Und waren etliche, die da sprachen: Unserer Söhne und Töchter sind viel; laßt uns Getreide nehmen und essen, daß wir leben.
3 And there were some who said, We are giving our fields and our vine-gardens and our houses for debt: let us get grain because we are in need.
3 D'autres disaient: Nous engageons nos champs, nos vignes, et nos maisons, pour avoir du blé pendant la famine.
3 Dúirt cuid eile acu: “Tá d'iallach orainn ár dtailte, ár bhfíonghoirt agus ár dtithe a chur i ngeall le harbhar a fháil le linn an ghorta.”
3 Y había quienes decían: Hemos empeñado nuestras tierras, y nuestras viñas, y nuestras casas, para comprar grano en el hambre.
3 Aber etliche sprachen: Laßt uns unsre Äcker, Weinberge und Häuser versetzen und Getreide nehmen in der Teuerung.
4 And there were others who said, We have given up our fields and our vine-gardens to get money for the king's taxes.
4 D'autres disaient: Nous avons emprunté de l'argent sur nos champs et nos vignes pour le tribut du roi.
4 Dúirt a thuilleadh fós acu: “Chaitheamar iasacht airgid a fháil, agus dul i mbannaí chuige sin lenár dtailte agus lenar bhfíonghoirt chun cáin an rí a íoc;
4 Y había quienes decían: Hemos tomado prestado dinero para el tributo del rey, sobre nuestras tierras y viñas.
4 Etliche aber sprachen: Wir habe Geld entlehnt zum Schoß für den König auf unsre Äcker und Weinberge;
5 But our flesh is the same as the flesh of our countrymen, and our children as their children: and now we are giving our sons and daughters into the hands of others, to be their servants, and some of our daughters are servants even now: and we have no power to put a stop to it; for other men have our fields and our vine-gardens.
5 Et pourtant notre chair est comme la chair de nos frères, nos enfants sont comme leurs enfants; et voici, nous soumettons à la servitude nos fils et nos filles, et plusieurs de nos filles y sont déjà réduites; nous sommes sans force, et nos champs et nos vignes sont à d'autres.
5 agus cé gur d'aon mhianach ar bhfeoilne agus feoil ar mbráithre, agus go bhfuil ár gclann-na chomh maith lena gclannsan, caithfimidne ár mic agus ár n‑iníonacha a reic mar dhaoir; rinneadh cuid dár n‑iníonacha a éigniú! Ach níl breith againn ar aon leigheas a chur ar an scéal, mar tá daoine eile anois i seilbh ár dtailte agus ár bhfíonghort agus ár maoine.”
5 Ahora bien, nuestra carne es como la carne de nuestros hermanos, nuestros hijos como sus hijos; y he aquí que nosotros sujetamos nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas á servidumbre, y hay algunas de nuestras hijas sujetas: mas no hay facultad en nuestras manos para rescatarlas, porque nuestras tierras y nuestras viñas son de otros.
5 nun ist doch wie unsrer Brüder Leib auch unser Leib und wie ihre Kinder unsre Kinder, und siehe, wir müssen unsre Söhne und Töchter unterwerfen dem Dienst, und sind schon unsrer Töchter etliche unterworfen, und ist kein Vermögen in unsern Händen, und unsre Äcker und Weinberge sind der andern geworden.
6 And on hearing their outcry and what they said I was very angry.
6 Je fus très irrité lorsque j'entendis leurs plaintes et ces paroles-là.
6 Nuair a chuala mé an gearán agus an chaint sin, bhí an-fhearg orm.
6 Y enojéme en gran manera cuando oí su clamor y estas palabras.
6 Da ich aber ihr Schreien und solche Worte hörte, ward ich sehr zornig.
7 And after turning it over in my mind, I made a protest to the chiefs and the rulers, and said to them, Every one of you is taking interest from his countryman. And I got together a great meeting of protest.
7 Je résolus de faire des réprimandes aux grands et aux magistrats, et je leur dis: Quoi! vous prêtez à intérêt à vos frères! Et je rassemblai autour d'eux une grande foule,
7 Rinne mé mo mhachnamh ar an scéal agus ansin chuir mé ceartú ar na huachtaráin agus ar na feidhmeannaigh á rá: “Cad é ualach atá á chur ag gach duine agaibh ar a bhráthair!” Ghairm mé comhthionól mór le chéile le plé leo.
7 Medité lo entonces para conmigo, y reprendí á los principales y á los magistrados, y díjeles: ¿Tomáiscada uno usura de vuestros hermanos? Y convoqué contra ellos una grande junta.
7 Und mein Herz ward Rats mit mir, daß ich schalt die Ratsherren und die Obersten und sprach zu ihnen: Wollt ihr einer auf den andern Wucher treiben? Und ich brachte die Gemeinde wider sie zusammen
8 And I said to them, We have given whatever we were able to give, to make our brothers the Jews free, who were servants and prisoners of the nations: and would you now give up your brothers for a price, and are they to become our property? Then they said nothing, answering not a word.
8 et je leur dis: Nous avons racheté selon notre pouvoir nos frères les Juifs vendus aux nations; et vous vendriez vous-mêmes vos frères, et c'est à nous qu'ils seraient vendus! Ils se turent, ne trouvant rien à répondre.
8 Dúirt mé leo: “Ár gcomhGhiúdaigh a díoladh le strainséirí, rinneamar iad a fhuascailt chomh fada agus a b'fhéidir dúinn, ach seo sibhse anois ag reic bhur mbráithre le go ndéanfaí iad a dhíol ar ais linne!” Bhíodar ina dtost agus níor fhan focal le rá acu.
8 Y díjeles: Nosotros rescatamos á nuestros hermanos Judíos que habían sido vendidos á las gentes, conforme á la facultad que había en nosotros: ¿y vosotros aun vendéis á vuestros hermanos, y serán vendidos á nosotros? Y callaron, que no tuvieron qué responder.
8 und sprach zu ihnen: Wir haben unsre Brüder, die Juden, erkauft die den Heiden verkauft waren, nach unserm Vermögen; und ihr wollt auch eure Brüder verkaufen und sie sollen uns verkauft werden? Da schwiegen sie und fanden nichts zu antworten.
9 And I said, What you are doing is not good: is it not the more necessary for you to go in the fear of our God, because of the shame which the nations may put on us?
9 Puis je dis: Ce que vous faites n'est pas bien. Ne devriez-vous pas marcher dans la crainte de notre Dieu, pour n'être pas insultés par les nations nos ennemies?
9 Lean mé orm dá bhrí sin: “Is olc an rud é seo atá ar siúl agaibh. Nár chóir daoibh siúl ar chosán eagla Dé agus fonóid na gciníocha, ár naimhde, a sheachaint?
9 Y dije: No es bien lo que hacéis, ¿no andaréis en temor de nuestro Dios, por no ser el oprobio de las gentes enemigas nuestras?
9 Und ich sprach: Es ist nicht gut, was ihr tut. Solltet ihr nicht in der Furcht Gottes wandeln um des Hohnes willen der Heiden, unsrer Feinde?
10 Even I and my servants have been taking interest for the money and the grain we have let them have. So now, let us give up this thing.
10 Moi aussi, et mes frères et mes serviteurs, nous leur avons prêté de l'argent et du blé. Abandonnons ce qu'ils nous doivent!
10 Thugas-sa agus mo ghaolta agus mo sheirbhísigh iasacht airgid agus arbhair dóibh chomh maith. Ach maithimis na fiacha sin.
10 También yo, y mis hermanos, y mis criados, les hemos prestado dinero y grano: relevémosles ahora de este gravamen.
10 Ich und meine Brüder und meine Leute haben ihnen auch Geld geliehen und Getreide; laßt uns doch diese Schuld erlassen.
11 Give back to them this very day their fields, their vine-gardens, their olive-gardens, and their houses, as well as a hundredth part of the money and the grain and the wine and the oil which you have taken from them.
11 Rendez-leur donc aujourd'hui leurs champs, leurs vignes, leurs oliviers et leurs maisons, et le centième de l'argent, du blé, du moût et de l'huile que vous avez exigé d'eux comme intérêt.
11 Tugaigí ar ais gan mhoill dóibh a dtailte agus a bhfíonghoirt, a luibhghoirt ológ agus a dtithe, agus maithigí [na fiacha] ar an airgead, ar an arbhar, ar an bhfíon agus ar an ola a thug sibh ar iasacht dóibh.”
11 Ruégoos que les devolváis hoy sus tierras, sus viñas, sus olivares, y sus casas, y la centésima parte del dinero y grano, del vino y del aceite que demandáis de ellos.
11 So gebt ihnen nun heute wieder ihre Äcker, Weinberge, Ölgärten und Häuser und den Hundertsten am Geld, am Getreide, am Most und am Öl, den ihr von ihnen zu fordern habt.
12 Then they said, We will give them back, and take nothing for them; we will do as you say. Then I sent for the priests and made them take an oath that they would keep this agreement.
12 Ils répondirent: Nous les rendrons, et nous ne leur demanderons rien, nous ferons ce que tu dis. Alors j'appelai les sacrificateurs, devant lesquels je les fis jurer de tenir parole.
12 “Déanfaimid cúiteamh,” d'fhreagair siad, “ní éileoimid a thuilleadh orthu; déanfaimid rud ort.” Chuir mé fios ar na sagairt agus thug mé faoi deara dóibh mionn a thabhairt go ndéanfaidís beart de réir a mbriathar.
12 Y dijeron: Devolveremos, y nada les demandaremos; haremos así como tú dices. Entonces convoqué los sacerdotes, y juramentélos que harían conforme á esto.
12 Da sprachen sie: Wir wollen's wiedergeben und wollen nichts von ihnen fordern und wollen tun wie du gesagt hast. Und ich rief die Priester und nahm einen Eid von ihnen, daß sie also tun sollten.
13 And shaking out the folds of my robe, I said, So may God send out from his house and his work every man who does not keep this agreement; even so let him be sent out and made as nothing. And all the meeting of the people said, So be it, and gave praise to the Lord. And the people did as they had said.
13 Et je secouai mon manteau, en disant: Que Dieu secoue de la même manière hors de sa maison et de ses biens tout homme qui n'aura point tenu parole, et qu'ainsi cet homme soit secoué et laissé à vide! Toute l'assemblée dit: Amen! On célébra l'Éternel. Et le peuple tint parole.
13 Ansin chroith mé amach urlach m'fhallainge á rá: “Go ndéana Dia amhlaidh sin agus go gcroithe sé amach as a theach agus as a shealúchas, aon duine nach gcoimeádann an gheallúint seo; go gcroitear amach mar sin é agus go bhfagtar follamh é!” Agus d'fhreagair an comhthionól go léir “Amen” agus mhol siad an Tiarna. Choimeád an pobal an gheallúint sin.
13 Además sacudí mi vestido, y dije: Así sacuda Dios de su casa y de su trabajo á todo hombre que no cumpliere esto, y así sea sacudido y vacío. Y respondió toda la congregación: ¡Amén! Y alabaron á Jehová. Y el pueblo hizo conforme á esto.
13 Auch schüttelte ich meinen Busen aus und sprach: Also schüttle Gott aus jedermann von seinem Hause und von seiner Arbeit, der dies Wort nicht handhabt, daß er sei ausgeschüttelt und leer. Und die ganze Gemeinde sprach: Amen! und lobte den HERRN. Und das Volk tat also.
14 Now from the time when I was made ruler of the people in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year till the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, for twelve years, I and my servants have never taken the food which was the right of the ruler.
14 Dès le jour où le roi m'établit leur gouverneur dans le pays de Juda, depuis la vingtième année jusqu'à la trente-deuxième année du roi Artaxerxès, pendant douze ans, ni moi ni mes frères n'avons vécu des revenus du gouverneur.
14 Agus thairis sin, ón lá a ceapadh mé mar ghobharnóir orthu i dtír Iúdá, ón bhfichiú bliain de réimeas Artaxarxaes go dtí an dara bliain déag ar fhichid, níor chaith mé féin ná mo ghaolta arán an ghobharnóra.
14 También desde el día que me mandó el rey que fuese gobernador de ellos en la tierra de Judá, desde el año veinte del rey Artajerjes hasta el año treinta y dos, doce años, ni yo ni mis hermanos comimos el pan del gobernador.
14 Auch von der Zeit an, da mir befohlen ward, ihr Landpfleger zu sein im Lande Juda, nämlich vom zwanzigsten Jahr an bis in das zweiunddreißigste Jahr des Königs Arthahsastha, das sind zwölf Jahre, nährte ich mich und meine Brüder nicht von der Landpfleger Kost.
15 But earlier rulers who were before me made the people responsible for their upkeep, and took from them bread and wine at the rate of forty shekels of silver; and even their servants were lords over the people: but I did not do so, because of the fear of God.
15 Avant moi, les premiers gouverneurs accablaient le peuple, et recevaient de lui du pain et du vin, outre quarante sicles d'argent; leurs serviteurs mêmes opprimaient le peuple. Je n'ai point agi de la sorte, par crainte de Dieu.
15 Ach na gobharnóirí a ghabh romham, ba ualach iad ar an bpobal; dhéanaidís daichead seicil airgid a thobhach [mar bheatha lae], agus bíodh leatrom á dhéanamh ag a seirbhísigh ar an bpobal chomh maith. Ach ní dhearna mise a leithéid, mar go raibh eagla Dé orm.
15 Mas los primeros gobernadores que fueron antes de mí, cargaron al pueblo, y tomaron de ellos por el pan y por el vino sobre cuarenta siclos de plata: á más de esto, sus criados se enseñoreaban sobre el pueblo; pero yo no hice así, á causa del temor de Dios.
15 Denn die vorigen Landpfleger, die vor mir gewesen waren, hatten das Volk beschwert und hatten von ihnen genommen Brot und Wein, dazu auch vierzig Silberlinge; auch waren die Leute mit Gewalt gefahren über das Volk. Ich tat aber nicht also um der Furcht Gottes willen.
16 And I kept on with the work of this wall, and we got no land for ourselves: and all my servants were helping with the work.
16 Bien plus, j'ai travaillé à la réparation de cette muraille, et nous n'avons acheté aucun champ, et mes serviteurs tous ensemble étaient à l'ouvrage.
16 Agus lean mé orm ag obair ar an mballa seo leis i rith an ama, cé nach raibh aon talamh agam; bhí mo shearbhóntaí go léir freisin páirteach san obair.
16 También en la obra de este muro instauré mi parte, y no compramos heredad: y todos mis criados juntos estaban allí á la obra.
16 Auch arbeitete ich an der Mauer Arbeit und kaufte keinen Acker; und alle meine Leute mußten daselbst an die Arbeit zuhauf kommen.
17 And more than this, a hundred and fifty of the Jews and the rulers were guests at my table, in addition to those who came to us from the nations round about us.
17 J'avais à ma table cent cinquante hommes, Juifs et magistrats, outre ceux qui venaient à nous des nations d'alentour.
17 Shuíodh leathchéad fear ag mo bhord, Giúdaigh [agus ceannairí], gan trácht orthu siúd a thagadh chugainn ó na ciníocha máguaird.
17 Además ciento y cincuenta hombres de los Judíos y magistrados, y los que venían á nosotros de las gentes que están en nuestros contornos, estaban á mi mesa.
17 Dazu waren die Juden und Obersten hundertundfünfzig an meinem Tisch und die zu uns kamen aus den Heiden, die um uns her sind.
18 Now the food made ready for one day was one ox and six fat sheep, as well as fowls; and once in ten days a store of all sorts of wine: but all the same, I did not take the food to which the ruler had a right, because the people were crushed under a hard yoke.
18 On m'apprêtait chaque jour un boeuf, six moutons choisis, et des oiseaux; et tous les dix jours on préparait en abondance tout le vin nécessaire. Malgré cela, je n'ai point réclamé les revenus du gouverneur, parce que les travaux étaient à la charge de ce peuple.
18 Dheantaí damh, sé cinn de chaoirigh breátha, agus éanlaith, a réiteach don bhord ar mo chostas féin gach lá; agus thugtaí deich seithe mar raidhse fíona chugam gach lá. Ach mar sin féin níor éiligh mé riamh costas beatha an ghobharnóra mar go raibh go leor ualaigh le hiompar cheana féin ag an bpobal seo.
18 Y lo que se aderezaba para cada día era un buey, seis ovejas escogidas, y aves también se aparejaban para mí, y cada diez días vino en toda abundancia: y con todo esto nunca requerí el pan del gobernador, porque la servidumbre de este pueblo era grave.
18 Und man gebrauchte für mich des Tages einen Ochsen und sechs erwählte Schafe und Vögel und je innerhalb zehn Tagen allerlei Wein die Menge. Dennoch forderte ich nicht der Landpfleger Kost; denn der Dienst war schwer auf dem Volk.
19 Keep in mind, O my God, for my good, all I have done for this people.
19 Souviens-toi favorablement de moi, ô mon Dieu, à cause de tout ce que j'ai fait pour ce peuple!
