1 The history of Nehemiah, the son of Hacaliah. Now it came about, in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, when I was in Shushan, the king's town,

2 That Hanani, one of my brothers, came with certain men from Judah; and in answer to my request for news of the Jews who had been prisoners and had got away, and of Jerusalem,
2 Hanani, l'un de mes frères, et quelques hommes arrivèrent de Juda. Je les questionnai au sujet des Juifs réchappés qui étaient restés de la captivité, et au sujet de Jérusalem.
2 tháinig chugam duine de mo ghaolta, Hanáiní, le daoine áirithe ó Iúdá. Chuir mé ceist orthu i dtaobh na nGiúdach, an t‑iarmhar a fuasclaíodh ó dheoraíocht, agus i dtaobh Iarúsailéim.
2 Que vino Hanani, uno de mis hermanos, él y ciertos varones de Judá, y preguntéles por los Judíos que habían escapado, que habían quedado de la cautividad, y por Jerusalem.
2 da kam Hanani, einer meiner Brüder, mit etlichen Männern aus Juda. Und ich fragte sie, wie es den Juden ginge, die errettet und übrig waren von der Gefangenschaft, und wie es zu Jerusalem ginge.
3 They said to me, The small band of Jews now living there in the land are in great trouble and shame: the wall of Jerusalem has been broken down, and its doorways burned with fire.
3 Ils me répondirent: Ceux qui sont restés de la captivité sont là dans la province, au comble du malheur et de l'opprobre; les murailles de Jérusalem sont en ruines, et ses portes sont consumées par le feu.
3 “An mhuintir a tháinig slan ón deoraíocht,” d'fhreagair siad, “agus atá ar ais ansiúd sa chúige, tá siad i gcruatan agus faoi leatrom náireach, tá ballaí Iarúsailéim ar lár agus a geataí loiscthe ag tine.”
3 Y dijéronme: El residuo, los que quedaron de la cautividad allí en la provincia, están en gran mal y afrenta, y el muro de Jerusalem derribado, y sus puertas quemadas á fuego.
3 Und sie sprachen zu mir: Die übrigen von der Gefangenschaft sind daselbst im Lande in großem Unglück und Schmach; die Mauern Jerusalems sind zerbrochen und seine Tore mit Feuer verbrannt.
4 Then, after hearing these words, for some days I gave myself up to weeping and sorrow, seated on the earth; and taking no food I made prayer to the God of heaven,
4 Lorsque j'entendis ces choses, je m'assis, je pleurai, et je fus plusieurs jours dans la désolation. Je jeûnai et je priai devant le Dieu des cieux,
4 Nuair a chuala mé na focail sin, shuigh mé síos agus bhris mo ghol orm, agus chaoin mé lá i ndiaidh an lae agus mé ar troscadh agus ag guí i láthair Dhia neimhe.
4 Y fué que, como yo oí estas palabras, sentéme y lloré, y enlutéme por algunos días, y ayuné y oré delante del Dios de los cielos.
4 Da ich aber solche Worte hörte, saß ich und weinte und trug Leid etliche Tage und fastete und betete vor dem Gott des Himmels
5 And said, O Lord, the God of heaven, the great God, greatly to be feared, keeping faith and mercy with those who have love for him and are true to his laws:
5 et je dis: O Éternel, Dieu des cieux, Dieu grand et redoutable, toi qui gardes ton alliance et qui fais miséricorde à ceux qui t'aiment et qui observent tes commandements!
5 Agus dúirt mé: “A Thiarna, a Dhia neimhe, a Dhia mhór an imeaglaithe, a chothaíonn conradh agus cairdeas buan leo seo a thugann grá duit agus a chomhlíonann d'aitheanta,
5 Y dije: Ruégote, oh Jehová, Dios de los cielos, fuerte, grande, y terrible, que guarda el pacto y la misericordia á los que le aman y guardan sus mandamientos;
5 und sprach: Ach HERR, Gott des Himmels, großer und schrecklicher Gott, der da hält den Bund und die Barmherzigkeit denen, die ihn lieben und seine Gebote halten,
6 Let your ear now take note and let your eyes be open, so that you may give ear to the prayer of your servant, which I make before you at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel, your servants, while I put before you the sins of the children of Israel, which we have done against you: truly, I and my father's people are sinners.
6 Que ton oreille soit attentive et que tes yeux soient ouverts: écoute la prière que ton serviteur t'adresse en ce moment, jour et nuit, pour tes serviteurs les enfants d'Israël, en confessant les péchés des enfants d'Israël, nos péchés contre toi; car moi et la maison de mon père, nous avons péché.
6 tabhair cluas go grinn agus súil go géar do ghuí do shearbhónta, an ghuí atá á déanamh agam chugat anois de lá agus d'oíche ar mhaithe le clann Iosrael, do shearbhóntaí; admhaím na peacaí a rinneamarna, clann Iosrael, i d'aghaidh; pheacaigh mise agus pheacaigh teaghlach m'athar.
6 Esté ahora atento tu oído, y tus ojos abiertos, para oír la oración de tu siervo, que yo hago ahora delante de ti día y noche, por los hijos de Israel tus siervos; y confieso los pecados de los hijos de Israel que hemos contra ti cometido; sí, yo y la casa de mi padre hemos pecado.
6 laß doch deine Ohren aufmerken und deine Augen offen sein, daß du hörst das Gebet deines Knechtes, das ich nun vor dir bete Tag und Nacht für die Kinder Israel, deine Knechte, und bekenne die Sünden der Kinder Israel, die wir an dir getan haben; und ich und meines Vaters Haus haben auch gesündigt.
7 We have done great wrong against you, and have not kept the orders, the rules, and the decisions, which you gave to your servant Moses.
7 Nous t'avons offensé, et nous n'avons point observé les commandements, les lois et les ordonnances que tu prescrivis à Moïse, ton serviteur.
7 Is coiriúil coirpeach a pheacaíomar i d'aghaidh, gan na haitheanta, na dlíthe ná na gnásanna a leag tú ar do shearbhónta Maois a chomhlíonadh.
7 En extremo nos hemos corrompido contra ti, y no hemos guardado los mandamientos, y estatutos y juicios, que mandaste á Moisés tu siervo.
7 Wir haben an dir mißgehandelt, daß wir nicht gehalten haben die Gebote, Befehle und Rechte, die du geboten hast deinem Knecht Mose.
8 Keep in mind, O Lord, the order you gave your servant Moses, saying, If you do wrong I will send you wandering among the peoples:
8 Souviens-toi de cette parole que tu donnas ordre à Moïse, ton serviteur, de prononcer. Lorsque vous pécherez, je vous disperserai parmi les peuples;
8 Cuimhnigh, impím ort, ar an bhfoláireamh a thug tú do Mhaois do shearbhónta: ‘Má bhíonn sibh mídhílis, déanfaidh mé sibh a scaipeadh i measc na gciníocha;
8 Acuérdate ahora de la palabra que ordenaste á Moisés tu siervo, diciendo: Vosotros prevaricaréis, y yo os esparciré por los pueblos:
8 Gedenke aber doch des Wortes, das du deinem Knecht Mose gebotest und sprachst: Wenn ihr euch versündigt, so will ich euch unter die Völker streuen.
9 But if you come back to me and keep my orders and do them, even if those of you who have been forced out are living in the farthest parts of heaven, I will get them from there, and take them back to the place marked out by me for the resting-place of my name.
9 mais si vous revenez à moi, et si vous observez mes commandements et les mettez en pratique, alors, quand vous seriez exilés à l'extrémité du ciel, de là je vous rassemblerai et je vous ramènerai dans le lieu que j'ai choisi pour y faire résider mon nom.
9 ach má fhilleann sibh agus m'aitheanta a choimeád agus a chleachtadh, fiú dá mbeadh bhur ndíbeartaigh ar fán thar íor na spéire is faide i gcéin, déanfaidh mé iad a chruinniú ón áit sin agus a thabhairt ar ais chun na háite a roghnaigh mé le m'ainm a lonnú ann.’
9 Mas os volveréis á mí, y guardaréis mis mandamientos, y los pondréis por obra. Si fuere vuestro lanzamiento hasta el cabo de los cielos, de allí os juntaré; y traerlos he al lugar que escogí para hacer habitar allí mi nombre.
9 Wo ihr euch aber bekehrt zu mir und haltet meine Gebote und tut sie, und ob ihr verstoßen wäret bis an der Himmel Ende, so will ich euch doch von da versammeln und will euch bringen an den Ort, den ich erwählt habe, daß mein Name daselbst wohne.
10 Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have made yours by your great power and by your strong hand.
10 Ils sont tes serviteurs et ton peuple, que tu as rachetés par ta grande puissance et par ta main forte.
10 “Siad seo do shearbhóntaí, do phobal, an mhuintir a d'fhuascail tú le do mhórneart agus do láimh thréan.
10 Ellos pues son tus siervos y tu pueblo, los cuales redimiste con tu gran fortaleza, y con tu mano fuerte.
10 Sie sind ja doch deine Knechte und dein Volk, die du erlöst hast durch deine große Kraft und mächtige Hand.
11 O Lord, let your ear take note of the prayer of your servant, and of the prayers of your servants, who take delight in worshipping your name: give help, O Lord, to your servant this day, and let him have mercy in the eyes of this man. (Now I was the king's wine-servant.)
11 Ah! Seigneur, que ton oreille soit attentive à la prière de ton serviteur, et à la prière de tes serviteurs qui veulent craindre ton nom! Donne aujourd'hui du succès à ton serviteur, et fais-lui trouver grâce devant cet homme! J'étais alors échanson du roi.
