1 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he was ruling in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years; his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
1 Amatsia devint roi à l'âge de vingt-cinq ans, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Joaddan, de Jérusalem.

1 De Veinticinco años era Amasías cuando comenzó á reinar, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalem: el nombre de su madre fué Joaddan, de Jerusalem.
1 Fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt war Amazja, da er König ward, und regierte neunundzwanzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Joaddan von Jerusalem.
2 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but his heart was not completely true to the Lord.
2 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, mais avec un coeur qui n'était pas entièrement dévoué.

3 Now when he became strong in the kingdom, he put to death those men who had taken the life of the king his father.
3 Lorsque la royauté fut affermie entre ses mains, il fit périr ses serviteurs qui avaient tué le roi son père.
3 A luaithe a bhí greim daingean aige ar a ríocht, chuir sé chun báis na feidhmeannaigh úd a mharaigh a athair, an rí.
3 Y luego que fué confirmado en el reino, mató á sus siervos que habían muerto al rey su padre;
3 Da nun sein Königreich bekräftigt war, erwürgte er seine Knechte, die den König, seinen Vater, geschlagen hatten.
4 But he did not put their children to death, for he kept the orders of the Lord recorded in the book of the law of Moses, saying, The fathers are not to be put to death for their children or the children for their fathers, but a man is to be put to death for the sin which he himself has done.
4 Mais il ne fit pas mourir leurs fils, car il agit selon ce qui est écrit dans la loi, dans le livre de Moïse, où l'Éternel donne ce commandement: On ne fera point mourir les pères pour les enfants, et l'on ne fera point mourir les enfants pour les pères; mais on fera mourir chacun pour son péché.
4 Ach níor chuir sé a gclann chun báis de réir mar atá scríofa i leabhar dhlí Mhaois mar ar ordaigh an Tiarna: “Níl aithreacha le cur chun báis ar son mac ná mic ar son aithreacha; ní foláir gach duine a chur chun báis ar son a pheaca féin.”
4 Mas no mató á los hijos de ellos, según lo que está escrito en la ley en el libro de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó, diciendo: No morirán los padres por los hijos, ni los hijos por los padres; mas cada uno morirá por su pecado.
4 Aber ihre Kinder tötete er nicht; denn also steht's im Gesetz, im Buch Mose's, da der HERR gebietet und spricht: Die Väter sollen nicht sterben für die Kinder noch die Kinder für die Väter; sondern ein jeglicher soll um seiner Sünde willen sterben.
5 Then Amaziah got all Judah together and put them in order by their families, even all Judah and Benjamin, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds: and he had those of twenty years old and over numbered, and they came to three hundred thousand of the best fighting-men, trained for war and in the use of the spear and the body-cover.
5 Amatsia rassembla les hommes de Juda et les plaça d'après les maisons paternelles, les chefs de milliers et les chef de centaines, pour tout Juda et Benjamin; il en fit le dénombrement depuis l'âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, et il trouva trois cent mille hommes d'élite, en état de porter les armes, maniant la lance et le bouclier.
5 Ansin chruinnigh Amaiziá fir Iúdá le chéile agus d'eagraigh sé iad ina bhfiní, faoi cheannas ceannairí míle agus ceannairí céad do Iúdá agus do Bhiniáimin go léir. 5 Juntó luego Amasías á Judá, y con arreglo á las familias púsoles tribunos y centuriones por todo Judá y Benjamín; y tomólos por lista de veinte años arriba, y fueron hallados en ellos trescientos mil escogidos para salir á la guerra, que tenían lanza y escudo.
5 Und Amazja brachte zuhauf Juda und stellte sie nach ihren Vaterhäusern, nach den Obersten über tausend und über hundert unter ganz Juda und Benjamin, und zählte sie von zwanzig Jahren und darüber und fand ihrer dreihunderttausend auserlesen, die ins Heer ziehen und Spieß und Schild führen konnten.
6 And for a hundred talents of silver, he got a hundred thousand fighting-men from Israel.
6 Il prit encore à sa solde dans Israël cent mille vaillants hommes pour cent talents d'argent.
6 D'fhostaigh sé freisin céad míle laoch gaile ó Iosrael ar chéad tallann airgid.
6 Y de Israel tomó á sueldo cien mil hombres valientes, por cien talentos de plata.
6 Dazu nahm er aus Israel hunderttausend starke Kriegsleute um hundert Zentner Silber.
7 But a man of God came to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with you; for the Lord is not with Israel, that is, the children of Ephraim.
7 Un homme de Dieu vint auprès de lui, et dit: O roi, qu'une armée d'Israël ne marche point avec toi, car l'Éternel n'est pas avec Israël, avec tous ces fils d'Éphraïm.
7 Tháinig an giolla Dé chuige agus dúirt: “Ná lig d'arm Iosrael máirseáil le do chois, a rí, mar níl an Tiarna le hIosrael ná le haon duine ó Eafráim.
7 Mas un varón de Dios vino á él, diciéndole: Rey, no vaya contigo el ejército de Israel; porque Jehová no es con Israel, ni con todos los hijos de Ephraim.
7 Es kam aber ein Mann Gottes zu ihm und sprach: König, laß nicht das Heer Israels mit dir kommen; denn der HERR ist nicht mit Israel, mit allen Kindern Ephraim;
8 But go yourself, and be strong in war; God will not let you go down before those who are fighting against you; for God has power to give help or to send you down before your attackers.
8 Si tu vas avec eux, quand même tu ferais au combat des actes de vaillance, Dieu te fera tomber devant l'ennemi, car Dieu a le pouvoir d'aider et de faire tomber.
8 Óir má thagann siad, is cuma cé chomh calma agus a bheidh tú sa chath, déanfaidh Dia thú a threascairt os comhair do naimhde, mar ag Dia atá cumas cothaithe nó treascartha.”
8 Pero si tú vas, si lo haces, y te esfuerzas para pelear, Dios te hará caer delante de los enemigos; porque en Dios está la fortaleza, ó para ayudar, ó para derribar.
8 sondern ziehe du hin, daß du Kühnheit beweisest im Streit. Sollte Gott dich fallen lassen vor deinen Feinden? Denn bei Gott steht die Kraft zu helfen und fallen zu lassen.
9 Then Amaziah said to the man of God, But what is to be done about the hundred talents which I have given for the armed band of Israel? And the man of God in answer said, God is able to give you much more than this.
9 Amatsia dit à l'homme de Dieu: Et comment agir à l'égard des cents talents que j'ai donnés à la troupe d'Israël? L'homme de Dieu répondit: L'Éternel peut te donner bien plus que cela.
9 Dúirt Amaiziá leis an ngiolla Dé: “Cad a dhéanfaimid faoin gcéad tallann a thug mé d'arm Iosrael?” D'fhreagair an giolla Dé: “Is féidir don Tiarna i bhfad níos mó ná sin a thabhairt duit.”
9 Y Amasías dijo al varón de Dios: ¿Qué pues se hará de cien talentos que he dado al ejército de Israel? Y el varón de Dios respondió: De Jehová es darte mucho más que esto.
9 Amazja sprach zum Mann Gottes: Was soll man denn tun mit den hundert Zentnern, die ich den Kriegsknechten von Israel gegeben habe? Der Mann Gottes sprach: Der HERR hat noch mehr, das er dir geben kann, denn dies.
10 So Amaziah, separating the armed band which had come to him from Ephraim, sent them back again; which made them very angry with Judah, and they went back burning with wrath.
10 Alors Amatsia sépara la troupe qui lui était venue d'Éphraïm, afin que ces gens retournassent chez eux. Mais ils furent très irrités contre Juda, et ils s'en allèrent chez eux avec une ardente colère.
10 Ansin scaoil Amaiziá uaidh an t‑arm a tháinig ó Eafráim, agus chuir abhaile iad. Tháinig fearg mhór orthusan le Iúdá agus d'imigh siad leo abhaile agus iad ar deargbhuile.
10 Entonces Amasías apartó el escuadrón de la gente que había venido á él de Ephraim, para que se fuesen á sus casas: y ellos se enojaron grandemente contra Judá, y volviéronse á sus casas encolerizados.
10 Da sonderte Amazja die Kriegsleute ab, die zu ihm aus Ephraim gekommen waren, daß sie an ihren Ort hingingen. Da ergrimmte ihr Zorn wider Juda sehr, und sie zogen wieder an ihren Ort mit grimmigem Zorn.
11 Then Amaziah took heart, and went out at the head of his people and came to the Valley of Salt, where he put to death ten thousand of the children of Seir;
11 Amatsia prit courage, et conduisit son peuple. Il alla dans la vallée du sel, et il battit dix mille hommes des fils de Séir.
11 Ach tháinig misneach chuig Amaiziá agus threoraigh sé a shaighdiúirí amach go Gleann an tSalainn, agus scrios sé deich míle fear de mhuintir Shaeír.
11 Esforzándose entonces Amasías, sacó su pueblo, y vino al valle de la Sal: é hirió de los hijos de Seir diez mil.
11 Und Amazja ward getrost und führte sein Volk aus und zog aus ins Salztal und schlug die Kinder von Seir zehntausend.
12 And ten thousand more the children of Israel took living, and made them go up to the top of the rock, pushing them down from the top of the rock so that their bodies were broken by the fall.
12 Et les fils de Juda en saisirent dix mille vivants, qu'ils menèrent au sommet d'un rocher, d'où ils les précipitèrent; et tous furent écrasés.
12 Ghabh fir Iúdá deich míle díobh ina mbeatha agus rug iad go léir go barr na carraige agus chaitheadar thar faobhar na faille iad agus rinneadh smidiríní díobh go léir.
12 Y los hijos de Judá tomaron vivos otros diez mil, los cuales llevaron á la cumbre de un peñasco, y de allí los despeñaron, y todos se hicieron pedazos.
12 Und die Kinder Juda fingen ihrer zehntausend lebendig; die führten sie auf die Spitze eines Felsen und stürzten sie von der Spitze des Felsens, daß sie alle zerbarsten.
13 But the men of the band which Amaziah sent back and did not take with him to the fight, made attacks on the towns of Judah from Samaria to Beth-horon, putting to death three thousand of their people and taking away a great store of their goods.
13 Cependant, les gens de la troupe qu'Amatsia avait renvoyés pour qu'ils n'allassent pas à la guerre avec lui firent une invasion dans les villes de Juda depuis Samarie jusqu'à Beth Horon, y tuèrent trois mille personnes, et enlevèrent de nombreuses dépouilles.

13 Empero los del escuadrón que Amasías había despedido, porque no fuesen con él á la guerra, derramáronse sobre las ciudades de Judá, desde Samaria hasta Beth-oron, é hirieron de ellos tres mil, y tomaron un grande despojo.
13 Aber die Kriegsknechte, die Amazja hatte wiederum lassen ziehen, daß sie nicht mit seinem Volk zum Streit zögen, fielen ein in die Städte Juda's, von Samaria an bis gen Beth-Horon, und schlugen ihrer dreitausend und nahmen viel Raub.
14 Now when Amaziah came back from the destruction of the Edomites, he took the gods of the children of Seir and made them his gods, worshipping them and burning offerings before them.
14 Lorsqu'Amatsia fut de retour après la défaite des Édomites, il fit venir les dieux des fils de Séir, et se les établit pour dieux; il se prosterna devant eux, et leur offrit des parfums.
14 Nuair a d'fhill Amaiziá tar éis ár na nEadómach, thug sé déithe mhuintir Shaeír leis agus chuir suas iad mar dhéithe dó féin, agus chrom síos ina n‑onóir agus thug ofrálacha dóibh.
14 Regresando luego Amasías de la matanza de los Idumeos, trajo también consigo los dioses de los hijos de Seir, y púsoselos para sí por dioses, y encorvóse delante de ellos, y quemóles perfumes.
14 Und da Amazja wiederkam von der Edomiter Schlacht, brachte er die Götter der Kinder Seir und stellte sie sich zu Göttern und betete an vor ihnen und räucherte ihnen.
15 And so the wrath of the Lord was moved against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said, Why have you gone after the gods of the people who have not given their people salvation from your hands?
15 Alors la colère de l'Éternel s'enflamma contre Amatsia, et il envoya vers lui un prophète, qui lui dit: Pourquoi as-tu recherché les dieux de ce peuple, quand ils n'ont pu délivrer leur peuple de ta main?
15 Bhí fearg ar an Tiarna le hAmaiziá agus chuir sé fáidh chuige a dúirt leis: “Cén fáth a ndeachaigh tú i muinín déithe na ndaoine seo, déithe nach bhféadfadh a muintir féin a fhuascailt ó do lámhasa?”
15 Encendióse por tanto el furor de Jehová contra Amasías, y envió á él un profeta, que le dijo: ¿Por qué has buscado los dioses de gente, que no libraron á su pueblo de tus manos?
15 Da ergrimmte der Zorn des HERRN über Amazja, und er sandte den Propheten zu ihm; der sprach zu ihm: Warum suchst du die Götter des Volks, die ihr Volk nicht konnten erretten von deiner Hand?
16 But while he was talking to him the king said to him, Have we made you one of the king's government? say no more, or it will be the cause of your death. Then the prophet gave up protesting, and said, It is clear to me that God's purpose is your destruction, because you have done this and have not given ear to my words.
16 Comme il parlait, Amatsia lui dit: Est-ce que nous t'avons fait conseiller du roi? Retire-toi! Pourquoi veux-tu qu'on te frappe? Le prophète se retira, en disant: Je sais que Dieu a résolu de te détruire, parce que tu as fait cela et que tu n'as pas écouté mon conseil.
16 Ach chuir an rí isteach air ina chaint dó agus dúirt: “Ar cheapamar thú i do chomhairleoir don rí? Mura mian leat go mbásófaí thú, cuir uait an chaint sin!” Baineadh stad as an bhfáidh, ach ansin lean sé air: “Tá a fhios agam gur chinn Dia ar thú a scriosadh mar gur iompair tú thú féin mar seo agus gur dhiúltaigh tú éisteacht le mo chomhairle.”
16 Y hablándole el profeta estas cosas, él le respondió: ¿Hante puesto á ti por consejero del rey? Déjate de eso: ¿por qué quieres que te maten? Y al cesar, el profeta dijo luego: Yo sé que Dios ha acordado destruirte, porque has hecho esto, y no obedeciste á mi consejo.
16 Und da er mit ihm redete, sprach er zu ihm: Hat man dich zu des Königs Rat gemacht? Höre auf; warum willst du geschlagen sein? Da hörte der Prophet auf und sprach: Ich merke wohl, daß Gott sich beraten hat, dich zu verderben, weil du solches getan hast und gehorchst meinem Rat nicht.
17 Then Amaziah, king of Judah, acting on the suggestion of his servants, sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us have a meeting face to face.
17 Après s'être consulté, Amatsia, roi de Juda, envoya dire à Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d'Israël: Viens, voyons-nous en face!
17 Ghlac Amaiziá comhairle ansin agus chuir sé teachtaireacht go Ióáis mac Iahóácház mac Iéahú, rí Iosrael, á rá: “Tar agus bíodh triail againn as a chéile!”
17 Y Amasías rey de Judá, habido su consejo, envió á decir á Joas, hijo de Joachâz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel: Ven, y veámonos cara á cara.
17 Und Amazja, der König Juda's, ward Rats und sandte hin zu Joas, dem Sohn des Joahas, des Sohnes Jehus, dem König Israels, und ließ ihm sagen: Komm, wir wollen uns miteinander messen!
18 And Joash, king of Israel, sent to Amaziah, king of Judah, saying, The thorn-tree in Lebanon sent to the cedar in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son for a wife: and a beast from the woodland in Lebanon went by, crushing the thorn under his feet.
18 Et Joas, roi d'Israël, fit dire à Amatsia, roi de Juda: L'épine du Liban envoya dire au cèdre du Liban: Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils! Et les bêtes sauvages qui sont au Liban passèrent et foulèrent l'épine.
18 Chuir Ióáis rí Iosrael scéala ar ais go hAmaiziá rí Iúdá: “Chuir feochadán na Liobáine teachtaireacht go céadar na Liobáine: ‘Tabhair d'iníon le pósadh do mo mhac,’ ach rinne ainmhithe allta na Liobáine an feochadan a shatailt faoina gcosa agus iad ag gabháil thar bráid.
18 Entonces Joas rey de Israel envió á decir á Amasías rey de Judá: El cardo que estaba en el Líbano, envió al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: Da tu hija á mi hijo por mujer. Y he aquí que las bestias fieras que estaban en el Líbano, pasaron, y hollaron el cardo.
18 Aber Joas, der König Israels, sandte zu Amazja, dem König Juda's, und ließ ihm sagen: Der Dornstrauch im Libanon sandte zur Zeder im Libanon und ließ ihr sagen: Gib deine Tochter meinem Sohn zum Weibe! Aber das Wild im Libanon lief über den Dornstrauch und zertrat ihn.
19 You say, See, I have overcome Edom; and your heart is lifted up with pride: now keep in your country; why do you make causes of trouble, putting yourself, and Judah with you, in danger of downfall?
19 Tu as battu les Édomites, penses-tu, et ton coeur s'élève pour te glorifier. Reste maintenant chez toi. Pourquoi t'engager dans une malheureuse entreprise, qui amènerait ta ruine et celle de Juda?
19 Deir tú: ‘Féach ormsa, an té a chloígh Eadóm,’ agus anois tá éirí in airde ort. Bí ag maíomh as do ghaisce ach fan sa bhaile. Cad ab áil leat ag cothú tranglaim a dhéanfadh thú féin agus Iúdá a scriosadh?”
19 Tú dices: He aquí he herido á Edom; y tu corazón se enaltece para gloriarte: ahora estáte en tu casa; ¿para qué te entrometes en mal, para caer tú y Judá contigo?
19 Du gedenkst: Siehe, ich habe die Edomiter geschlagen; des überhebt sich dein Herz, und du suchst Ruhm. Nun bleib daheim! Warum ringst du nach Unglück, daß du fallest und Juda mit dir?
20 But Amaziah gave no attention; and this was the purpose of God, so that he might give them up into the hands of Joash, because they had gone after the gods of Edom.
20 Mais Amatsia ne l'écouta pas, car Dieu avait résolu de les livrer entre les mains de l'ennemi, parce qu'ils avaient recherché les dieux d'Édom.
20 Ach ní éisteodh Amaiziá; ba de dheonú Dé é sin d'fhonn iad a thabhairt i lámha a naimhde, mar gur chuaigh siad i muinín déithe Eadóm.
20 Mas Amasías no quiso oir; porque estaba de Dios, que los quería entregar en manos de sus enemigos, por cuanto habían buscado los dioses de Edom.
20 Aber Amazja gehorchte nicht; denn es geschah von Gott, daß sie dahingegeben würden, darum daß sie die Götter der Edomiter gesucht hatten.
21 And so Joash, king of Israel, went up; and he and Amaziah, king of Judah, came face to face at Beth-shemesh in Judah.
21 Et Joas, roi d'Israël, monta; et ils se virent en face, lui et Amatsia, roi de Juda, à Beth Schémesch, qui est à Juda.
21 Ghluais Ióáis rí Iosrael amach chun catha, agus thug sé féin agus Amaiziá rí Iúdá aghaidh ar a chéile ag Béit Seimis le Iúdá.
21 Subió pues Joas rey de Israel, y viéronse cara á cara él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Beth-semes, la cual es de Judá.
21 Da zog Joas, der König Israels, herauf; und sie maßen sich miteinander, er und Amazja, der König Juda's, zu Beth-Semes, das in Juda liegt.
22 And Judah was overcome before Israel, and they went in flight, every man to his tent.
22 Juda fut battu par Israël, et chacun s'enfuit dans sa tente.
22 Bhris Iosrael ar Iúdá agus theith gach duine abhaile.
22 Pero cayó Judá delante de Israel, y huyó cada uno á su estancia.
22 Aber Juda ward geschlagen vor Israel, und sie flohen, ein jeglicher in seine Hütte.
23 And Joash, king of Israel, made Amaziah, king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, prisoner at Beth-shemesh, and took him to Jerusalem; and he had the wall of Jerusalem pulled down from the doorway of Ephraim to the doorway in the angle, four hundred cubits.
23 Joas, roi d'Israël, prit à Beth Schémesch Amatsia, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils de Joachaz. Il l'emmena à Jérusalem, et il fit une brèche de quatre cents coudées dans la muraille de Jérusalem, depuis la porte d'Éphraïm jusqu'à la porte de l'angle.
23 Agus ghabh Ióáis rí Iosrael Amaiziá rí Iúdá, mac Ióáis, mac Achaizíá, ag Béit Seimis agus thug sé leis é go Iarúsailéim; scrios sé balla na cathrach ó Gheata Eafráim go Geata an Chúinne, ceithre chéad banlámh dá fhad.
23 Y Joas rey de Israel prendió en Beth-semes á Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joas hijo de Joachâz, y llevólo á Jerusalem: y derribó el muro de Jerusalem desde la puerta de Ephraim hasta la puerta del ángulo, cuatrocientos codos.
23 Aber Amazja, den König in Juda, den Sohn des Joas, griff Joas, der Sohn des Joahas, der König über Israel, zu Beth-Semes und brachte ihn gen Jerusalem und riß ein die Mauer zu Jerusalem vom Tor Ephraim an bis an das Ecktor, vierhundert Ellen lang.
24 And he took all the gold and silver and all the vessels which were in the house of the Lord, under the care of Obed-edom, and all the wealth from the king's house, as well as those whose lives would be the price of broken faith, and went back to Samaria.
24 Il prit tout l'or et l'argent et tous les vases qui se trouvaient dans la maison de Dieu, chez Obed Édom, et les trésors de la maison du roi; il prit aussi des otages, et il retourna à Samarie.
24 Thug sé leis an t‑airgead agus an t‑ór go léir agus na fearais go léir a bhí le fáil i dTeampall an Tiarna agus Obaed Eadóm mar aon leo, agus cistí phálás an rí agus gialla chomh maith; ansin d'fhill ar an tSamáir. Bás Amaiziá
24 Asimismo tomó todo el oro y plata, y todos los vasos que se hallaron en la casa de Dios en casa de Obed-edom, y los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos de los príncipes, y volvióse á Samaria.
24 Und alles Gold und Silber und alle Gefäße, die vorhanden waren im Hause Gottes bei Obed-Edom und in dem Schatz im Hause des Königs, und die Geiseln nahm er mit sich gen Samaria.
25 Amaziah, son of Joash, king of Judah, went on living for fifteen years after the death of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
25 Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, vécut quinze ans après la mort de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d'Israël.
