1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah became king over Judah.
1 La dix-huitième année du règne de Jéroboam, Abija régna sur Juda.

1 Im achtzehnten Jahr des Königs Jerobeam ward Abia König in Juda,
2 He was king in Jerusalem for three years; his mother's name was Maacah, the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
2 Il régna trois ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Micaja, fille d'Uriel, de Guibea. Il y eut guerre entre Abija et Jéroboam.
2 Bhí sé i réim ar feadh trí bliana in Iarúsailéim. Miocáiá ab ainm dá mháthair, iníon Úiríéil ó Ghibeá. Bhí Aibíá ag cogaíocht le Iarobám.
2 Y reinó tres años en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Michâía hija de Uriel de Gabaa. Y hubo guerra entre Abías y Jeroboam.
2 und regierte drei Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Michaja, eine Tochter Uriels von Gibea. Und es erhob sich ein Streit zwischen Abia und Jerobeam.
3 And Abijah went out to the fight with an army of men of war, four hundred thousand of his best men; and Jeroboam put his forces in line against him, eight hundred thousand of his best men of war.
3 Abija engagea les hostilités avec une armée de vaillants guerriers, quatre cent mille hommes d'élite; et Jéroboam se rangea en bataille contre lui avec huit cent mille hommes d'élite, vaillants guerriers.
3 Chuaigh Aibíá chun catha le slua trodairí cróga, ceithre chéad míle fear tofa, agus chuir Iarobám a ocht gcéad míle de fhir thofa, gaiscígh chalma, in eagar ina aghaidh.
3 Entonces ordenó Abías batalla con un ejército de cuatrocientos mil hombres de guerra valerosos y escogidos: y Jeroboam ordenó batalla contra él con ochocientos mil hombres escogidos, fuertes y valerosos.
3 Und Abia rüstete sich zum Streit mit vierhunderttausend junger Mannschaft, starke Leute zum Kriege. Jerobeam aber rüstete sich, mit ihm zu streiten mit achthunderttausend junger Mannschaft, starke Leute.
4 And Abijah took up his position on Mount Zemaraim, in the hill-country of Ephraim, and said, Give ear to me, O Jeroboam and all Israel:
4 Du haut du mont Tsemaraïm, qui fait partie de la montagne d'Éphraïm, Abija se leva et dit: Écoutez-moi, Jéroboam, et tout Israël!
4 Sheas Aibíá ar Shliabh Zamáraím in ardáin Eafráim.
4 Y levantóse Abías sobre el monte de Semaraim, que es en los montes de Ephraim, y dijo: Oidme, Jeroboam y todo Israel.
4 Und Abia machte sich auf oben auf den Berg Zemaraim, welcher liegt auf dem Gebirge Ephraim und sprach: Hört mir zu, Jerobeam und ganz Israel!
5 Is it not clear to you that the Lord, the God of Israel, gave the rule over Israel to David and to his sons for ever, by an agreement made with salt?
5 Ne devez-vous pas savoir que l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, a donné pour toujours à David la royauté sur Israël, à lui et à ses fils, par une alliance inviolable?
5 “A Iarobám agus a Iosrael go léir,” ar sé, “nach bhfuil a fhios agaibh gur thug an Tiarna flaitheas Iosrael do Dháiví agus dá shliocht go brách trí chonradh dosháraithe?
5 ¿No sabéis vosotros, que Jehová Dios de Israel dió el reino á David sobre Israel para siempre, á él y á sus hijos en alianza de sal?
5 Wisset ihr nicht, daß der HERR, der Gott Israels, hat das Königreich zu Israel David gegeben ewiglich, ihm und seinen Söhnen durch einen Salzbund?
6 But Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon, the son of David, took up arms against his lord.
6 Mais Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, serviteur de Salomon, fils de David, s'est levé et s'est révolté contre son maître.
6 Ach dá ainneoin sin rinne Iarobám mac Nabát, searbhónta do Sholamh mac Dháiví, ceannairc in aghaidh a mháistir.
6 Pero Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, siervo de Salomón hijo de David, se levantó y rebeló contra su señor.
6 Aber Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, der Knecht Salomos, Davids Sohnes, warf sich auf und ward seinem Herrn abtrünnig.
7 And certain foolish and good-for-nothing men were joined with him, and made themselves strong against Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, when he was young and untested and not able to keep them back.
7 Des gens de rien, des hommes pervers, se sont rassemblés auprès de lui et l'ont emporté sur Roboam, fils de Salomon. Roboam était jeune et craintif, et il manqua de force devant eux.
7 Bhailigh scraistí áirithe gan mhaith ina thimpeall, agus thugadar a ndúshlan faoi Rachabám mac Sholaimh agus Rachabám fós óg gan mhisneach agus gan ar a chumas cur ina gcoinne.
7 Y se allegaron á el hombres vanos, hijos de iniquidad, y pudieron más que Roboam hijo de Salomón, porque Roboam era mozo y tierno de corazón, y no se defendió de ellos.
7 Und haben sich zu ihm geschlagen lose Leute und böse Buben und haben sich gestärkt wider Rehabeam, den Sohn Salomos; denn Rehabeam war jung und eines blöden Herzens, daß er sich vor ihnen nicht wehrte.
8 And now it is your purpose to put yourselves against the authority which the Lord has put into the hands of the sons of David, and you are a very great number, and you have with you the gold oxen which Jeroboam made to be your gods.
8 Et maintenant, vous pensez triompher du royaume de l'Éternel, qui est entre les mains des fils de David; et vous êtes une multitude nombreuse, et vous avez avec vous les veaux d'or que Jéroboam vous a faits pour dieux.
8 Tá sibh ag caint anois ar chur in aghaidh fhlaitheas an Tiarna atá i seilbh shliocht Dháiví de bhrí go bhfuil mathshlua mór díbh ansin le bhur laonna óir a rinne Iarobám le bheith mar dhéithe agaibh.
8 Y ahora vosotros tratáis de fortificaros contra el reino de Jehová en mano de los hijos de David, porque sois muchos, y tenéis con vosotros los becerros de oro que Jeroboam os hizo por dioses.
8 Nun denkt ihr euch zu setzen wider das Reich des HERRN unter den Söhnen Davids, weil euer ein großer Haufe ist und habt goldene Kälber, die euch Jerobeam zu Göttern gemacht hat.
9 And after driving out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron and the Levites, have you not made priests for yourselves as the people of other lands do? so that anyone who comes to make himself priest by offering an ox or seven sheep, may be a priest of those who are no gods.
9 N'avez-vous pas repoussé les sacrificateurs de l'Éternel, les fils d'Aaron et les Lévites, et ne vous êtes-vous pas fait des sacrificateurs, comme les peuples des autres pays? Quiconque venait avec un jeune taureau et sept béliers, afin d'être consacré, devenait sacrificateur de ce qui n'est point Dieu.
9 Nár dhíbir sibh sagairt an Tiarna, sliocht Árón agus na Léivítigh, d'fhonn sagairt a dhéanamh daoibh féin dála muintir thíortha eile? Aon duine a thagann le tarbh agus le seacht reithe le hé féin a choisreacan, déantar sagart de do dhia nach dia ar bith!
9 ¿No echasteis vosotros á los sacerdotes de Jehová, á los hijos de Aarón, y á los Levitas, y os habéis hecho sacerdotes á la manera de los pueblos de otras tierras, para que cualquiera venga á consagrarse con un becerro y siete carneros, y así sea sacerdote de los que no son dioses?
9 Habt ihr nicht die Priester des HERRN, die Kinder Aaron, und die Leviten ausgestoßen und habt euch eigene Priester gemacht wie die Völker in den Landen? Wer da kommt, seine Hand zu füllen mit einem jungen Farren und sieben Widdern, der wird Priester derer, die nicht Götter sind.
10 But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not been turned away from him; we have priests who do the work of the Lord, even the sons of Aaron and the Levites in their places;
10 Mais pour nous, l'Éternel est notre Dieu, et nous ne l'avons point abandonné, les sacrificateurs au service de l'Éternel sont fils d'Aaron, et les Lévites remplissent leurs fonctions.
10 Maidir linne, is é an Tiarna ár nDia agus ní dhearnamar é a thréigean; tá sagairt againn ag fónamh don Tiarna; clann Árón iad agus is Léivítigh an lucht freastail.
10 Mas en cuanto á nosotros, Jehová es nuestro Dios, y no le hemos dejado: y los sacerdotes que ministran á Jehová son los hijos de Aarón, y los Levitas en la obra;
10 Mit uns aber ist der HERR, unser Gott, den wir nicht verlassen, und die Priester, die dem HERRN dienen, die Kinder Aaron, und die Leviten mit ihrem Geschäft,
11 By whom burned offerings and perfumes are sent up in smoke before the Lord every morning and every evening; and they put out the holy bread on its table and the gold support for the lights with its lights burning every evening; for we keep the orders given to us by the Lord our God, but you have gone away from him.
11 Nous offrons chaque matin et chaque soir des holocaustes à l'Éternel, nous brûlons le parfum odoriférant, nous mettons les pains de proposition sur la table pure, et nous allumons chaque soir le chandelier d'or et ses lampes; car nous observons les commandements de l'Éternel, notre Dieu. Et vous, vous l'avez abandonné.
11 Déanann siad íobairt uileloiscthe a ofráil don Tiarna ár nDia gach maidin agus tráthnóna, le túis na spíosraí cumhra; leagann siad amach arán na láithreachta ar an mbord naofa, agus déanann siad cúram den choinnleoir óir le go mbeadh a lóchrann ar lasadh gach tráthnóna. Óir déanaimidne liotúirge an Tiarna ár nDia a chomhlíonadh, ach thréig sibhse é.
11 Los cuales queman á Jehová los holocaustos cada mañana y cada tarde, y los perfumes aromáticos; y ponen los panes sobre la mesa limpia, y el candelero de oro con sus candilejas para que ardan cada tarde: porque nosotros guardamos la ordenanza de Jehová nuestro Dios; mas vosotros le habéis dejado.
11 die anzünden dem HERRN alle Morgen Brandopfer und alle Abende, dazu das gute Räuchwerk, und bereitete Brote auf den reinen Tisch, und der goldene Leuchter mit seinen Lampen, die da alle Abende angezündet werden. Denn wir halten die Gebote des HERRN, unsers Gottes; ihr aber habt ihn verlassen.
12 And now God is with us at our head, and his priests with their loud horns sounding against you. O children of Israel, do not make war on the Lord, the God of your fathers, for it will not go well for you.
12 Voici, Dieu et ses sacrificateurs sont avec nous, à notre tête, et nous avons les trompettes retentissantes pour les faire résonner contre vous. Enfants d'Israël! ne faites pas la guerre à l'Éternel, le Dieu de vos pères, car vous n'auriez aucun succès.
12 Féach, tá an Tiarna linn, ar ár dtosach againn; féach a shagairt leis na stoic ar tí iad a shéideadh leis an ngáir chatha a chur suas i bhur n‑aghaidh. A chlann Iosrael, ná troidigí in aghaidh an Tiarna, Dia ár sinsear, mar ní rithfidh libh.”
12 Y he aquí Dios está con nosotros por cabeza, y sus sacerdotes con las trompetas del júbilo para que suenen contra vosotros. Oh hijos de Israel, no peleéis contra Jehová el Dios de vuestros padres, porque no os sucederá bien.
12 Siehe, mit uns ist an der Spitze Gott und seine Priester und die Halldrommeten, daß man wider euch drommete. Ihr Kinder Israel, streitet nicht wider den HERRN, eurer Väter Gott; denn es wird euch nicht gelingen.
13 But Jeroboam had put some of his men to make a surprise attack on them from the back, so some were facing Judah and others were stationed secretly at their back.
13 Jéroboam les prit par derrière au moyen d'une embuscade, et ses troupes étaient en face de Juda, qui avait l'embuscade par derrière.
13 Chuir Iarobám buíon i luíochán timpeall laistiar le hiad a ionsaí i leith a gcúil; bhí a shluaite ar bhéala Iúdá dá bhrí sin agus an luíochán ar a gcúla.
13 Pero Jeroboam hizo girar una emboscada para venir á ellos por la espalda: y estando así delante de ellos, la emboscada estaba á espaldas de Judá.
13 Aber Jerobeam machte einen Hinterhalt umher, daß er von hinten an sie käme, daß sie vor Juda waren und der Hinterhalt hinter Juda.
14 And Judah, turning their faces, saw that they were being attacked in front and at the back; and they gave a cry for help to the Lord, while the priests were sounding their horns.
14 Ceux de Juda s'étant retournés eurent à combattre devant et derrière. Ils crièrent à l'Éternel, et les sacrificateurs sonnèrent des trompettes.
14 D'fheach Iúdá ina dtimpeall agus chonaic siad lucht ionsaithe rompu amach agus ina ndiaidh. Ghlaoigh siad ar an Tiarna agus shéid na sagairt na stoic.
14 Y como miró Judá, he aquí que tenía batalla delante y á las espaldas; por lo que clamaron á Jehová, y los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas.
14 Da sich nun Juda umwandte, siehe, da war vorn und hinten Streit. Da schrieen sie zum HERRN, und die Priester drommeteten mit den Drommeten,
15 And the men of Judah gave a loud cry; and at their cry, God put fear into Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
15 Les hommes de Juda poussèrent un cri de guerre et, au cri de guerre des hommes de Juda, l'Éternel frappa Jéroboam et tout Israël devant Abija et Juda.
15 Chuir sluaite Iúdá a ngáir chatha suas, agus nuair a rinne siad amhlaidh, bhris an Tiarna ar Iarobám agus ar Iosrael go léir roimh Aibíá agus Iúdá.
15 Entonces los de Judá alzaron grita; y así que ellos alzaron grita, Dios desbarató á Jeroboam y á todo Israel delante de Abías y de Judá:
15 und jedermann in Juda erhob Geschrei. Und da jedermann in Juda schrie, schlug Gott Jerobeam und das ganze Israel vor Abia und Juda.
16 And the children of Israel went in flight before Judah, and God gave them up into their hands.
16 Les enfants d'Israël s'enfuirent devant Juda, et Dieu les livra entre ses mains.
16 Theith clann Iosrael roimh Iúdá agus thug Dia ar láimh dóibh iad.
16 Y huyeron los hijos de Israel delante de Judá, y Dios los entregó en sus manos.
16 Und die Kinder Israel flohen vor Juda, und Gott gab sie in ihre Hände,
17 And Abijah and his people put them to death with great destruction: five hundred thousand of the best of Israel were put to the sword.
17 Abija et son peuple leur firent éprouver une grande défaite, et cinq cent mille hommes d'élite tombèrent morts parmi ceux d'Israël.
17 Rinne Aibíá agus a shluaite ár agus eirleach orthu; thit cúig céad míle d'fhir thofa Iosrael marbh ar pháirc an áir.
17 Y Abías y su gente hacían en ellos gran mortandad; y cayeron heridos de Israel quinientos mil hombres escogidos.
17 daß Abia mit seinem Volk eine große Schlacht an ihnen tat und fielen aus Israel Erschlagene fünfhunderttausend junger Mannschaft.
18 So at that time the children of Israel were overcome, and the children of Judah got the better of them, because they put their faith in the Lord, the God of their fathers.
18 Les enfants d'Israël furent humiliés en ce temps, et les enfants de Juda remportèrent la victoire, parce qu'ils s'étaient appuyés sur l'Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères.
18 Cloíodh clann Iosrael an uair sin agus bhí an lá le Iúdá ar an gcuma sin mar go raibh muinín acu as an Tiarna, Dia a sinsear.
18 Así fueron humillados los hijos de Israel en aquel tiempo: mas los hijos de Judá se fortificaron, porque se apoyaban en Jehová el Dios de sus padres.
18 Also wurden die Kinder Israel gedemütigt zu der Zeit; aber die Kinder Juda wurden getrost, denn sie verließen sich auf den HERRN, ihrer Väter Gott.
19 And Abijah went after Jeroboam and took some of his towns, Beth-el with its small towns and Jeshanah with its small towns and Ephron with its small towns.
19 Abija poursuivit Jéroboam et lui prit des villes, Béthel et les villes de son ressort, Jeschana et les villes de son ressort, et Éphron et les villes de son ressort.
19 Chuaigh Aibíá sa tóir ar Iarobám agus ghabh cathracha áirithe uaidh, Béitéil lena shráidbhailte, Iseáná lena shráidbhailte, agus Eafrón lena shráidbhailte.
19 Y siguió Abías á Jeroboam, y tomóle algunas ciudades, á Beth-el con sus aldeas, á Jesana con sus aldeas, y á Ephraim con sus aldeas.
19 Und Abia jagte Jerobeam nach und gewann ihm Städte ab: Beth-El mit seinen Ortschaften, Jesana mit seinen Ortschaften und Ephron mit seinen Ortschaften,
20 And Jeroboam did not get back his power again in the life-time of Abijah; and the Lord sent death on him.
20 Jéroboam n'eut plus de force du temps d'Abija; et l'Éternel le frappa, et il mourut.
20 Níor fhéad Iarobám a chumhacht a ghnóthú ar ais le linn Aibíá, agus threascair an Tiarna é agus d'éag sé.
20 Y nunca más tuvo Jeroboam poderío en los días de Abías: é hirióle Jehová, y murió.
20 daß Jerobeam fürder nicht zu Kräften kam, solange Abia lebte. Und der HERR plagte ihn, daß er starb.
21 But Abijah became great, and had fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.
21 Mais Abija devint puissant; il eut quatorze femmes, et engendra vingt-deux fils et seize filles.
21 Ach chuaigh Aibíá i neart; thóg sé ceathrar ban déag chuige féin agus ghin sé beirt mhac ar fhichid agus seisear iníonacha déag.
21 Empero se fortificó Abías; y tomó catorce mujeres, y engendró veintidós hijos, y dieciséis hijas.
21 Abia aber ward mächtig, und er nahm vierzig Weiber und zeugte zweiundzwanzig Söhne und sechzehn Töchter.
22 And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways and his sayings, are recorded in the account of the prophet Iddo.
22 Le reste des actions d'Abija, ce qu'il a fait et ce qu'il a dit, cela est écrit dans les mémoires du prophète Iddo.
