1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem, where all Israel had come together to make him king.
1 Roboam se rendit à Sichem, car tout Israël était venu à Sichem pour le faire roi.
1 Chuaigh Rachabám go Seicim mar go raibh Iosrael go léir imithe go Seicim chun é a fhógairt ina rí.
1 Y Roboam fué á Sichêm porque en Sichêm se había juntado todo Israel para hacerlo rey.
1 Rehabeam zog gen Sichem; denn ganz Israel war gen Sichem gekommen, ihn zum König zu machen.
2 And when Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, had news of it, (for he was in Egypt where he had gone in flight from King Solomon,) he came back from Egypt.
2 Lorsque Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, eut des nouvelles, il était en Égypte, où il s'était enfui loin du roi Salomon, et il revint d'Égypte.
2 Nuair a chuala Iarobám mac Nabát an scéal - bhí sé san Éigipt mar ar theith sé ó Sholamh rí - d'fhill sé ón Éigipt.
2 Y como lo oyó Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el cual estaba en Egipto, donde había huído á causa del rey Salomón, volvió de Egipto.
2 Und da das Jerobeam hörte, der Sohn Nebats, der in Ägypten war, dahin er vor dem König Salomo geflohen war, kam er wieder aus Ägypten.
3 And they sent for him; and Jeroboam and all Israel came to Rehoboam and said,
3 On l'envoya appeler. Alors Jéroboam et tout Israël vinrent vers Roboam et lui parlèrent ainsi:
3 Chuir siad fios air agus ghlaoigh siad air agus tháinig sé agus [an comhthionól] go léir in éineacht leis, agus dúirt siad le Rachabám:
3 Y enviaron y llamáronle. Vino pues Jeroboam, y todo Israel, y hablaron á Roboam, diciendo:
3 Und sie sandten hin und ließen ihn rufen. Und Jerobeam kam mit dem ganzen Israel, und sie redeten mir Rehabeam uns sprachen:
4 Your father put a hard yoke on us: if you will make the conditions under which your father kept us down less cruel, and the weight of the yoke he put on us less hard, then we will be your servants.
4 Ton père a rendu notre joug dur; maintenant allège cette rude servitude et le joug pesant que nous a imposé ton père. Et nous te servirons.
4 “Chuir d'athair ualach trom orainn le hiompar; bog daoirse dhian d'athar, agus a chuing atá go trom orainn, agus déanfaimid seirbhís duit.”
4 Tu padre agravó nuestro yugo: afloja tú, pues, ahora algo de la dura servidumbre, y del grave yugo con que tu padre nos apremió, y te serviremos.
4 Dein Vater hat unser Joch zu hart gemacht; so erleichtere nun du den harten Dienst deines Vaters und das schwere Joch, das er auf uns gelegt hat, so wollen wir dir untertänig sein.
5 And he said to them, Come to me again after three days. So the people went away.
5 Il leur dit: Revenez vers moi dans trois jours. Et le peuple s'en alla.
5 Dúirt sé leo: “Tagaigí ar ais chugam faoi cheann trí lá.” D'imigh na daoine leo.
5 Y él les dijo: Volved á mí de aquí á tres días. Y el pueblo se fué.
5 Er sprach zu ihnen: Über drei Tage kommt wieder zu mir. Und das Volk ging hin.
6 Then King Rehoboam took the opinion of the old men who had been with Solomon his father when he was living, and said, In your opinion, what answer am I to give to this people?
6 Le roi Roboam consulta les vieillards qui avaient été auprès de Salomon, son père, pendant sa vie, et il dit: Que conseillez-vous de répondre à ce peuple?
6 Ansin chuaigh Rachabám rí i gcomhairle leis na seanóirí a bhí ag déanamh seirbhíse dá athair Solamh fad a mhair sé. “Cén freagra,” ar sé, “a mholfadh sibh ba chóir dom a thabhairt ar an muintir seo?”
6 Entonces el rey Roboam tomó consejo con los viejos, que habían estado delante de Salomón su padre cuando vivía, y díjoles: ¿Cómo aconsejáis vosotros que responda á este pueblo?
6 Und der König Rehabeam ratfragte die Ältesten, die vor seinem Vater Salomo gestanden waren, da er am Leben war, und sprach: Wie ratet ihr, daß ich diesem Volk Antwort gebe?
7 And they said to him, If you are kind to this people, pleasing them and saying good words to them, then they will be your servants for ever.
7 Et voici ce qu'ils lui dirent: Si tu es bon envers ce peuple, si tu les reçois favorablement, et si tu leur parles avec bienveillance, ils seront pour toujours tes serviteurs.
7 “Má bhíonn tú cneasta leis an bpobal seo,” ar siad, “agus má bhíonn tú lách leo, agus má bhíonn tú cóir leo, beidh siad mar sheirbhísigh agat go deo.”
7 Y ellos le hablaron, diciendo: Si te condujeres humanamente con este pueblo, y los agradares, y les hablares buenas palabras, ellos te servirán perpetuamente.
7 Sie redeten mit ihm und sprachen: Wirst du diesem Volk freundlich sein und sie gütig behandeln und ihnen gute Worte geben, so werden sie dir untertänig sein allewege.
8 But he gave no attention to the opinion of the old men, but went to the young men of his generation who were waiting before him.
8 Mais Roboam laissa le conseil que lui donnaient les vieillards, et il consulta les jeunes gens qui avaient grandi avec lui et qui l'entouraient.
8 Ach dhiúltaigh sé don chomhairle a thug na seanóirí dó agus chuaigh sé i gcomhairle leis na hógánaigh, a d'fhás suas leis féin, a bhí ina sheirbhís.
8 Mas él, dejando el consejo que le dieron los viejos, tomó consejo con los mancebos que se habían criado con él, y que delante de él asistían;
8 Er aber ließ außer acht den Rat der Ältesten, den sie ihm gegeben hatten, und ratschlagte mit den Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren und vor ihm standen,
9 And he said to them, What is your opinion? What answer are we to give to this people who have said to me, Make less the weight of the yoke which your father put on us?
9 Il leur dit: Que conseillez-vous de répondre à ce peuple qui me tient ce langage: Allège le joug que nous a imposé ton père?
9 “Cén freagra a chomhairlíonn sibh dúinn a thabhairt ar an muintir seo a dúirt liom: ‘Bog dínn an chuing a leag d'athair orainn’?”
9 Y díjoles: ¿Qué aconsejáis vosotros que respondamos á este pueblo, que me ha hablado, diciendo: Alivia algo del yugo que tu padre puso sobre nosotros?
9 und sprach zu ihnen: Was ratet ihr, daß wir diesem Volk antworten, die mit mir geredet haben und sagen: Erleichtere das Joch, das dein Vater auf uns gelegt hat?
10 And the young men of his generation said to him, This is the answer to give to the people who came to you saying, Your father put a hard yoke on us, but will you make it less; say to them, My little finger is thicker than my father's body;
10 Et voici ce que lui dirent les jeunes gens qui avaient grandi avec lui: Tu parleras ainsi à ce peuple qui t'a tenu ce langage: Ton père a rendu notre joug pesant, et toi, allège-le-nous! tu leur parleras ainsi: Mon petit doigt est plus gros que les reins de mon père.
10 Agus d'fhreagair an dream óg a d'fhás suas leis agus dúirt leis: “Tabhair an freagra seo ar an muintir úd a dúirt: ‘Chuir d'athair ualach trom orainn le hiompar, ach déan é a éadromú dúinn’ - abair é seo leo: ‘Is raimhre mo lúidín ná coim m'athar.
10 Entonces los mancebos que se habían criado con él, le hablaron, diciendo: Así dirás al pueblo que te ha hablado diciendo, Tu padre agravó nuestro yugo, mas tú descárganos: así les dirás: Lo más menudo mío es más grueso que los lomos de mi padre.
10 Die Jungen aber, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, redeten mit ihm und sprachen: So sollst du sagen zu dem Volk, das mit dir geredet und spricht: Dein Vater hat unser Joch zu schwer gemacht; mache du unser Joch leichter, und sprich zu ihnen: Mein kleinster Finger soll dicker sein den meines Vaters Lenden.
11 If my father put a hard yoke on you, I will make it harder: my father gave you punishment with whips, but I will give you blows with snakes.
11 Maintenant, mon père vous a chargés d'un joug pesant, et moi je vous le rendrai plus pesant; mon père vous a châtiés avec des fouets, et moi je vous châtierai avec des scorpions.
11 Leag m'athair ualach trom oraibh. Cuirfidh mise, más ea, breis ualaigh oraibh. Bhuail m'athair sibh le lasca; buailfidh mise sibh le scairpeanna.’ ”
11 Así que, mi padre os cargó de grave yugo, y yo añadiré á vuestro yugo: mi padre os castigó con azotes, y yo con escorpiones.
11 Hat nun mein Vater auf euch ein schweres Joch geladen, so will ich eures Joches noch mehr machen: mein Vater hat euch mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, ich aber mit Skorpionen.
12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king had given orders, saying, Come to me again on the third day.
12 Jéroboam et tout le peuple vinrent à Roboam le troisième jour, suivant ce qu'avait dit le roi: Revenez vers moi dans trois jours.
12 An tríú lá tháinig Iarobám agus an pobal go léir go Rachabám, faoi mar a d'ordaigh an rí á rá: “Tagaigí chugam arís an treas lá.”
12 Vino pues Jeroboam con todo el pueblo á Roboam al tercer día: según el rey les había mandado deciendo: Volved á mí de aquí á tres días.
12 Als nun Jerobeam und alles Volk zu Rehabeam kam am dritten Tage, wie denn der König gesagt hatte: Kommt wieder zu mir am dritten Tage,
13 And the king gave them a rough answer. So King Rehoboam gave no attention to the suggestion of the old men,
13 Le roi leur répondit durement. Le roi Roboam laissa le conseil des vieillards,
13 Thug an rí freagra garbh orthu gan aon aird a thabhairt ar an gcomhairle a thug na seanóirí dó.
13 Y respondióles el rey ásperamente; pues dejó el rey Roboam el consejo de los viejos,
13 antwortete ihnen der König hart. Und der König Rehabeam ließ außer acht den Rat der Ältesten
14 But gave them the answer put forward by the young men, saying, My father made your yoke hard, but I will make it harder; my father gave you punishment with whips, but I will give it with snakes.
14 et leur parla ainsi d'après le conseil des jeunes gens: Mon père a rendu votre joug pesant, et moi je le rendrai plus pesant; mon père vous a châtiés avec des fouets, et moi je vous châtierai avec des scorpions.
14 Labhair Rachabám leo de réir chomhairle na n‑ógfhear agus dúirt: “Leag m'athair ualach trom oraibh. Cuirfidh mise, más ea, breis ualaigh oraibh. Bhuail m'athair sibh le lasca; buailfidh mise sibh le scairpeanna.”
14 Y hablóles conforme al consejo de los mancebos, diciendo: Mi padre agravó vuestro yugo, y yo añadiré á vuestro yugo: mi padre os castigó con azotes, y yo con escorpiones.
14 und redete mit ihnen nach dem Rat der Jungen und sprach: Hat mein Vater euer Joch schwer gemacht, so will ich noch mehr dazu machen: mein Vater hat euch mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, ich aber mit Skorpionen.
15 So the king did not give ear to the people; for this came about by the purpose of God, so that the Lord might give effect to his word which he had said by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam, the son of Nebat.
15 Ainsi le roi n'écouta point le peuple; car cela fut dirigé par Dieu, en vue de l'accomplissement de la parole que l'Éternel avait dite par Achija de Silo à Jéroboam, fils de Nebath.
15 Níor éist an rí dá réir sin leis an bpobal, agus bhí sin curtha i gcrích ag Dia ionas go gcomhlíonfadh an Tiarna an gealltanas a thug sé ó bhéal Aichíá ó Shileo do Iarobám mac Nabát.
15 Y no escuchó el rey al pueblo; porque la causa era de Dios, para cumplir Jehová su palabra que había hablado, por Ahías Silonita, á Jeroboam hijo de Nabat.
15 Also gehorchte der König dem Volk nicht; denn es war also von Gott gewandt, auf daß der HERR sein Wort bestätigte, das er geredet hatte durch Ahia von Silo zu Jerobeam, dem Sohn Nebats.
16 And when all Israel saw that the king would give no attention to them, the people in answer said to the king, What part have we in David? what is our heritage in the son of Jesse? every man to your tents, O Israel; now see to your house, David. So all Israel went to their tents.
16 Lorsque tout Israël vit que le roi ne l'écoutait pas, le peuple répondit au roi: Quelle part avons-nous avec David? Nous n'avons point d'héritage avec le fils d'Isaï! A tes tentes, Israël! Maintenant, pourvois à ta maison, David! Et tout Israël s'en alla dans ses tentes.
16 Nuair a chonaic Iosrael go léir nár thug an rí aon aird orthu, d'fhreagair an pobal an rí: “Cén chuid atá againn i nDáiví? Níl aon oidhreacht againn i mac Ieise. Chun bhur mbothanna libh, a Iosrael, gach duine agaibh. Tabhair aire do do theach féin feasta, a Dháiví!” Agus d'imigh Iosrael go léir leo chun a mbothanna.
16 Y viendo todo Israel que el rey no les había oído, respondió el pueblo al rey, diciendo: ¿Qué parte tenemos nosotros con David, ni herencia en el hijo de Isaí? ¡Israel, cada uno á sus estancias! ¡David, mira ahora por tu casa! Así se fué todo Israel á sus estancias.
16 Da aber das ganze Israel sah, daß ihnen der König nicht gehorchte, antwortete das Volk dem König und sprach: Was haben wir für Teil an David oder Erbe am Sohn Isais? Jedermann von Israel zu seiner Hütte! So siehe nun du zu deinem Hause, David! Und das ganze Israel ging in seine Hütten,
17 But Rehoboam was still king over those of the children of Israel who were living in the towns of Judah.
17 Les enfants d'Israël qui habitaient les villes de Juda furent les seuls sur qui régna Roboam.
17 Ach bhí Rachabám ina rí ar chlann Iosrael a bhí ina gcónaí i gcathracha Iúdá.
17 Mas reinó Roboam sobre los hijos de Israel que habitaban en las ciudades de Judá.
17 also daß Rehabeam nur über die Kinder Israel regierte, die in den Städten Juda's wohnten.
18 Then Rehoboam sent Adoniram, the overseer of the forced work; and he was stoned to death by all Israel. And King Rehoboam went quickly and got into his carriage to go in flight to Jerusalem.
18 Alors le roi Roboam envoya Hadoram, qui était préposé aux impôts. Mais Hadoram fut lapidé par les enfants d'Israël, et il mourut. Et le roi Roboam se hâta de monter sur un char, pour s'enfuir à Jérusalem.
18 Ansin chuir Rachabám rí uaidh Adorám a bhí i bhfeighil lucht an tsaothair éigeantaigh, ach chuir clann Iosrael chun báis de chlocha é; ansin níor mhór do Rachabám preabadh ina charbad agus teitheadh go Iarúsailéim.
18 Envió luego el rey Roboam á Adoram, que tenía cargo de los tributos; pero le apedrearon los hijos de Israel, y murió. Entonces se esforzó el rey Roboam, y subiendo en un carro huyó á Jerusalem.
18 Aber der König Rehabeam sandte Hadoram, den Rentmeister; aber die Kinder Israel steinigten ihn zu Tode. Und der König Rehabeam stieg stracks auf seinen Wagen, daß er flöhe gen Jerusalem.
19 So Israel was turned away from the family of David to this day.
19 C'est ainsi qu'Israël s'est détaché de la maison de David jusqu'à ce jour.
