1 In the second year of Joash, son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah, the son of Joash, became king of Judah.

2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king; and he was ruling in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years; his mother's name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.
2 Il avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Joaddan, de Jérusalem.

3 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, though not like David his father; he did as Joash his father had done.

3 Und er tat, was dem HERRN wohl gefiel, doch nicht wie sein Vater David; sondern wie sein Vater Joas tat er auch.
4 But still the high places were not taken away; the people went on making offerings and burning them in the high places.
4 Seulement, les hauts-lieux ne disparurent point; le peuple offrait encore des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts-lieux.

4 Denn die Höhen wurden nicht abgetan; sondern das Volk opferte und räucherte noch auf den Höhen.
5 Now when he became strong in the kingdom, straight away he put to death those servants who had taken the life of the king his father;
5 Lorsque la royauté fut affermie entre ses mains, il frappa ses serviteurs qui avaient tué le roi, son père.
5 Nuair a bhí greim daingean aige ar an ríocht, chuir sé chun báis na hoifigigh úd a mharaigh a athair, an rí.
5 Y luego que el reino fué confirmado en su mano, hirió á sus siervos, los que habían muerto al rey su padre.
5 Da er nun seines Königreiches mächtig ward, schlug er seine Knechte, die seinen Vater, den König geschlagen hatten.
6 But he did not put their children to death; for the orders of the Lord recorded in the book of the law of Moses say, The fathers are not to be put to death for the children, or the children for their fathers; but a man is to be put to death for the sin which he himself has done.
6 Mais il ne fit pas mourir les fils des meurtriers, selon ce qui est écrit dans le livre de la loi de Moïse, où l'Éternel donne ce commandement: On ne fera point mourir les pères pour les enfants, et l'on ne fera point mourir les enfants pour les pères; mais on fera mourir chacun pour son péché.
6 Níor chuir sé chun báis clann na ndúnmharfóirí, afach, de réir mar atá scríofa i leabhar dhlí Mhaois mar ar ordaigh an Tiarna: “Níl aithreacha le cur chun báis ar son mac, ná mic ar son a n‑aithreacha; ní foláir gach duine a chur chun báis ar son a pheaca féin.”
6 Mas no mató á los hijos de los que le mataron, conforme á lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó, diciendo: No matarán á los padres por los hijos, ni á los hijos por los padres: mas cada uno morirá por su pecado.
6 Aber die Kinder der Totschläger tötete er nicht, wie es denn geschrieben steht im Gesetzbuch Mose's, da der HERR geboten hat und gesagt: Die Väter sollen nicht um der Kinder willen sterben, und die Kinder sollen nicht um der Väter willen sterben; sondern ein jeglicher soll um seiner Sünde sterben.
7 He put to the sword twelve thousand men of Edom in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela in war, naming it Joktheel, as it is to this day.
7 Il battit dix mille Édomites dans la vallée du sel; et durant la guerre, il prit Séla, et l'appela Joktheel, nom qu'elle a conservé jusqu'à ce jour.

7 Este hirió asimismo diez mil Idumeos en el valle de las Salinas, y tomó á Sela por guerra, y llamóla Jocteel, hasta hoy.
7 Er schlug auch die Edomiter im Salztal zehntausend und gewann die Stadt Sela mit Streit und hieß sie Joktheel bis auf diesen Tag.
8 Then Amaziah sent representatives to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us have a meeting face to face.
8 Alors Amatsia envoya des messagers à Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d'Israël, pour lui dire: Viens, voyons-nous en face!
8 Ansin chuir Amaiziá teachtairí go Ióáis mac Iahóácház mac Iéahú rí Iosrael á rá: “Tar agus bíodh triail againn as a chéile!”
8 Entonces Amasías envió embajadores á Joas, hijo de Joachâz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, y veámonos de rostro.
8 Da sandte Amazja Boten zu Joas, dem Sohn des Joahas, des Sohnes Jehus, dem König über Israel, und ließ ihm sagen: Komm her, wir wollen uns miteinander messen!
9 And Jehoash, king of Israel, sent to Amaziah, king of Judah, saying, The thorn-tree in Lebanon sent to the cedar in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son for a wife: and a beast from the woodland in Lebanon went by, crushing the thorn under his feet.
9 Et Joas, roi d'Israël, fit dire à Amatsia, roi de Juda: L'épine du Liban envoya dire au cèdre du Liban: Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils! Et les bêtes sauvages qui sont au Liban passèrent et foulèrent l'épine.
9 Chuir Ióáis rí Iosrael teachtaireacht go hAmaiziá rí Iúdá: “Chuir feochadán na Liobáine teachtaireacht go céadar na Liobáine: ‘Tabhair d'iníon le pósadh do mo mhac,’ ach rinne ainmhí allta sa Liobáin an feochadán a shatailt faoina chosa agus é ag gabháil thar bráid.
9 Y Joas rey de Israel envió á Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardillo que está en el Líbano envió á decir al cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer á mi hijo. Y pasaron las bestias fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardillo.
9 Aber Joas, der König Israels, sandte zu Amazja, dem König Juda's und ließ ihm sagen: Der Dornstrauch, der im Libanon ist, sandte zur Zeder im Libanon und ließ ihr sagen: Gib deine Tochter meinem Sohn zum Weibe! Aber das Wild auf dem Felde im Libanon lief über den Dornstrauch und zertrat ihn.
10 It is true that you have overcome Edom and your heart is uplifted; let that glory be enough for you, and keep in your country; why do you make causes of trouble, putting yourself, and Judah with you, in danger of downfall?
10 Tu as battu les Édomites, et ton coeur s'élève. Jouis de ta gloire, et reste chez toi. Pourquoi t'engager dans une malheureuse entreprise, qui amènerait ta ruine et celle de Juda?
10 Rinne tú Eadóm a chloí agus anois tá éirí in airde ort. Bí ag maíomh as do ghaisce, ach fan sa bhaile. Cad ab áil leat ag cothú tranglaim a dhéanfadh thú féin agus Iúdá a scrios?”
10 Ciertamente has herido á Edom, y tu corazón te ha envanecido: gloríate pues, mas estáte en tu casa. ¿Y por qué te entrometerás en un mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?
10 Du hast die Edomiter geschlagen; des überhebt sich dein Herz. Habe den Ruhm und bleibe daheim! Warum ringst du nach Unglück, daß du fällst und Juda mit dir?
11 But Amaziah gave no attention. So Jehoash, king of Israel, went up, and he and Amaziah, king of Judah, came face to face at Beth-shemesh, which is in Judah.
11 Mais Amatsia ne l'écouta pas. Et Joas, roi d'Israël, monta; et ils se virent en face, lui et Amatsia, roi de Juda, à Beth Schémesch, qui est à Juda.
11 Ach ní éisteodh Amaiziá agus ghluais Ióáis rí Iosrael amach chun catha, agus thug sé féin agus Amaiziá rí Iúdá aghaidh ar a chéile ag Béit Seimis le Iúdá.
11 Mas Amasías no dió oídos; por lo que subió Joas rey de Israel, y viéronse de rostro él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Beth-semes, que es de Judá.
11 Aber Amazja gehorchte nicht. Da zog Joas, der König Israels, herauf; und sie maßen sich miteinander, er und Amazja, der König Juda's, zu Beth-Semes, das in Juda liegt.
12 And Judah was overcome before Israel, so that they went in flight, every man to his tent.
12 Juda fut battu par Israël, et chacun s'enfuit dans sa tente.

12 Y Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron cada uno á sus estancias.
12 Aber Juda ward geschlagen vor Israel, daß ein jeglicher floh in seine Hütte.
13 And Jehoash, king of Israel, made Amaziah, king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, prisoner at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and had the wall of Jerusalem pulled down from the doorway of Ephraim to the door in the angle, four hundred cubits.
13 Joas, roi d'Israël, prit à Beth Schémesch Amatsia, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils d'Achazia. Il vint à Jérusalem, et fit une brèche de quatre cents coudées dans la muraille de Jérusalem, depuis la porte d'Éphraïm jusqu'à la porte de l'angle.
13 Agus ghabh Ióáis rí Iosrael Amaiziá rí Iúdá mac Ióáis mac Achaizíá, ag Béit Seimis, agus [thug sé] leis é go Iarúsailéim; scartáil sé balla na cathrach ó Gheata Eafráim go Geata an Chúinne, ceithre chéad banlámh dá fhad.
13 Además Joas rey de Israel tomó á Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joas hijo de Ochôzías, en Beth-semes: y vino á Jerusalem, y rompió el muro de Jerusalem desde la puerta de Ephraim hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.
13 Und Joas, der König Israels, griff Amazja, den König in Juda, den Sohn des Joas, des Sohnes Ahasjas, zu Beth-Semes und kam gen Jerusalem und riß ein die Mauer Jerusalems von dem Tor Ephraim bis an das Ecktor, vierhundert Ellen lang,
14 And he took all the gold and silver and all the vessels which were in the house of the Lord and in the store-house of the king, together with those whose lives would be the price of broken faith, and went back to Samaria.
14 Il prit tout l'or et l'argent et tous les vases qui se trouvaient dans la maison de l'Éternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi; il prit aussi des otages, et il retourna à Samarie.

14 Y tomó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los vasos que fueron hallados en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos en rehenes, y volvióse á Samaria.
14 und nahm alles Gold und Silber und Gerät, das gefunden ward im Hause des HERRN und im Schatz des Königshauses, dazu die Geiseln, und zog wieder gen Samaria.
15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash, and his power, and how he went to war with Amaziah, king of Judah, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Israel?
15 Le reste des actions de Joas, ce qu'il a fait, ses exploits, et la guerre qu'il eut avec Amatsia, roi de Juda, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
15 An chuid eile de stair Ióáis, a imeachtaí go léir, agus a ghaisce, agus conas mar a throid sé le hAmaiziá rí Iúdá, nach bhfuil sé sin go léir scríofa i Leabhar Annála Ríthe Iosrael?
15 Lo demás de los hechos de Joas que ejecutó, y sus hazañas, y cómo peleó contra Amasías rey de Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
15 Was aber mehr von Joas zu sagen ist, was er getan hat, und seine Macht, und wie er mit Amazja, dem König Juda's gestritten hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
16 And Jehoash went to rest with his fathers, and was put into the earth in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son became king in his place.
16 Joas se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Samarie avec les rois d'Israël. Et Jéroboam, son fils, régna à sa place.
16 Agus chuaigh Ióáis chun suain lena shinsir, agus adhlacadh é sa tSamáir le ríthe Iosrael. Tháinig a mhac Iarobám i gcomharbacht air.
16 Y durmió Joas con sus padres, y fué sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Jeroboam su hijo.
16 Und Joas entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben zu Samaria unter den Königen Israels. Und sein Sohn Jerobeam ward König an seiner Statt.
17 Amaziah, the son of Joash, king of Judah, went on living for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
17 Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, vécut quinze ans après la mort de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d'Israël.

19 Now they made a secret design against him in Jerusalem; and he went in flight to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish and put him to death there.

23 In the fifteenth year of the rule of Amaziah, son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, became king in Samaria, ruling for forty-one years.
23 La quinzième année d'Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, Jéroboam, fils de Joas, roi d'Israël, régna à Samarie. Il régna quarante et un ans.

24 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, not turning away from the sin which Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, did and made Israel do.
24 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel; il ne se détourna d'aucun des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël.

24 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, und ließ nicht ab von den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte.
25 He got back the old limits of Israel from the way into Hamath to the sea of the Arabah, as the Lord had said by his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet of Gath-hepher.
25 Il rétablit les limites d'Israël depuis l'entrée de Hamath jusqu'à la mer de la plaine, selon la parole que l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, avait prononcée par son serviteur Jonas, le prophète, fils d'Amitthaï, de Gath Hépher.

25 El restituyó los términos de Israel desde la entrada de Amath hasta la mar de la llanura, conforme á la palabra de Jehová Dios de Israel, la cual había él hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amittai, profeta que fué de Gath-hepher.
25 Er aber brachte wieder herzu das Gebiet Israels von Hamath an bis an das Meer, das im blachen Felde liegt, nach dem Wort des HERRN, das er geredet hatte durch seinen Knecht Jona, den Sohn Amitthais, den Propheten, der von Gath-Hepher war.
26 For the Lord saw how bitter was the trouble of Israel, and that everyone was cut off, he who was shut up and he who went free, and that Israel had no helper.
26 Car l'Éternel vit l'affliction d'Israël à son comble et l'extrémité à laquelle se trouvaient réduits esclaves et hommes libres, sans qu'il y eût personne pour venir au secours d'Israël.

27 And the Lord had not said that the name of Israel was to be taken away from the earth; but he gave them a saviour in Jeroboam, the son of Joash.
27 Or l'Éternel n'avait point résolu d'effacer le nom d'Israël de dessous les cieux, et il les délivra par Jéroboam, fils de Joas.

28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all he did, and his power, and how he went to war with Damascus, causing the wrath of the Lord to be turned away from Israel, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Israel?
28 Le reste des actions de Jéroboam, tout ce qu'il a fait, ses exploits à la guerre, et comment il fit rentrer sous la puissance d'Israël Damas et Hamath qui avaient appartenu à Juda, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?

28 Was aber mehr von Jerobeam zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Macht, wie er gestritten hat, und wie er Damaskus und Hamath wiedergebracht an Juda in Israel, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
29 And Jeroboam went to rest with his fathers, and was put into the earth with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son became king in his place.
