2nd Kings 9

1 Now there were in Samaria seventy of Ahab's sons. And Jehu sent letters to Samaria, to the rulers of the town, and to the responsible men, and to those who had the care of the sons of Ahab, saying,

1 Bhí deichniúr mac agus trí fichid ag Acháb sa tSamáir, agus scríobh Iéahú litir agus sheol í go dtí an tSamáir, go huachtaráin na cathrach, go dtí na sinsir agus go lucht altrama chlann Acháb, á rá:

2 Straight away, when you get this letter, seeing that your master's sons are with you, and that you have carriages and horses and a walled town and arms;

2 “Nuair a gheobhaidh sibh an litir seo, ós rud é go bhfuil clann mhac bhur máistir in bhur dteannta, agus go bhfuil carbaid agus eachra, cathracha daingne agus airm agaibh,

3 Take the best and most upright of your master's sons, and make him king in his father's place, and put up a fight for your master's family.

3 toghaigí an té is fearr agus is cumasaí de chlann mhac bhur máistir, agus cuirigí i ríchathaoir a athar é, agus troidigí ar son ríshliocht bhur máistir.”

4 But they were full of fear, and said, The two kings have gone down before him: how may we keep our place?

“Féach,” ar siad, “níor fhéad an dá rí an fód a sheasamh ina aghaidh, agus conas a d'fhéadfaimisne, más ea?”

5 So the controller of the king's house, with the ruler of the town, and the responsible men, and those who had the care of Ahab's sons, sent to Jehu, saying, We are your servants and will do all your orders; we will not make any man king; do whatever seems best to you.

5 Dá bhrí sin sheol reachtaire an pháláis, agus rialtóir na cathrach, na sinsir agus an lucht altrama scéala go dtí Iéahú: “Searbhóntaí de do chuid sinne; déanfaimid cibé rud a ordóidh tú dúinn; ní dhéanfaimid rí d'aon duine; déan mar is áil leat.”

Tue was dir gefällt.

6 Then he sent them a second letter, saying, If you are on my side, and if you will do my orders, come to me at Jezreel by this time tomorrow, with the heads of your master's sons. Now the king's seventy sons were with the great men of the town, who had the care of them.

6 Scríobh sé litir eile chucu á rá: “Má tá sibh liom, agus má tá sibh sásta mo réir a dhéanamh, tugaigí libh cinn chlann mhac bhur máistir agus tagaigí chugamsa anseo in Izréil um an dtaca seo amárach.” [Bhí deichniúr mac agus trí fichid leis an rí á n‑oiliúint ansiúd ag taoisigh na cathrach.]

7 And when the letter came to them, they took the king's sons and put them to death, all the seventy, and put their heads in baskets and sent them to him at Jezreel.

7 Nuair a shroich an litir sin iad, thógadar clann mhac an rí agus chuireadar chun báis iad, an deichniúr agus trí fichid go léir, agus chuireadar a gcinn i gciseáin agus sheoladar chuige in Izréil iad.

8 And a man came and said to him, They have come with the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Put them down in two masses at the doorway of the town till the morning.

8 Tháinig an teachtaire le scéala go Iéahú: “Thugadar leo,” ar sé, “cinn chlann mhac an rí.” “Fág ina dhá gcarn iad,” ar seisean, “ag an mbealach chun an gheata go maidin.”

9 And in the morning he went out and, stopping, said to all the people there, You are upright men: it is true that I made designs against my master, and put him to death; but who is responsible for the death of all these?

9 Ansin, ar maidin, ghabh sé amach, sheas, agus dúirt leis an bpobal go léir: “Tá sibh saor ó chion; rinne mé comhcheilg in aghaidh mo mháistir, ceart go leor, agus mharaigh mé é. Ach cé chuir iad seo go léir chun báis?

9 Venida la mañana, salió él, y estando en pie dijo á todo el pueblo: Vosotros sois justos: he aquí yo he conspirado contra mi señor, y lo he muerto: ¿mas quién ha muerto á todos estos?

10 You may be certain that nothing which the Lord has said about the family of Ahab will be without effect; for the Lord has done what he said by his servant Elijah.

10 Bíodh a fhios agaibh dá bhrí sin nach rachaidh focal amú dá bhfuil ráite ag an Tiarna in aghaidh shliocht Acháb. Tá gach a ndúirt sé trína shearbhónta Éilias déanta ag an Tiarna.”

11 So Jehu put to death all the rest of the seed of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his relations and his near friends and his priests, till there were no more of them.

11 Ansin mharaigh Iéahú gach ar mhair de shliocht Acháb in Izréil, a mhaithe go léir, a dhlúthchairde agus a shagairt, gan duine díobh a fhágáil ina bheatha.

11 Also schlug Jehu alle übrigen vom Hause Ahab zu Jesreel, alle seine Großen, seine Verwandten und seine Priester, bis daß ihm nicht einer übrigblieb;

12 Then he got up and came to Samaria. And he was at the meeting-place of the keepers of sheep, by the way,

12 Chuir sé chun bóthair ansin go dtí an tSamáir. Ar an tslí dó

13 When he came across the brothers of Ahaziah, king of Judah, and said, Who are you? And they said, We are the brothers of Ahaziah, king of Judah; we are going down to see the children of the king and of the queen.

“Sinne bráithre Achaizíá,” ar siad, “agus táimid ar ár mbealach síos ar thuairisc chlann mhac an rí agus chlann mhac na banríona.”

14 And he said, Take them living. So they took them living, and put them to death in the water-hole of Beth-eked; of the forty-two men he put every one to death;

Agus ghabhadar ina mbeatha iad agus chuir sé chun báis iad ag an umar ag Béit Éicid, beirt agus daichead díobh, gan fear inste scéil a fhágáil.

15 And when he had gone away from there, he came across Jehonadab, the son of Rechab: and he said good-day to him, and said to him, Is your heart true to mine, as mine is to yours? And Jehonadab in answer said, It is; and Jehu said, If it is, give me your hand. And he gave him his hand, and he made him come up into his carriage.

15 D'fhág sé an áit sin agus bhuail sé le Iahónádáb mac Raecáb a bhí ag teacht ina choinne. Bheannaigh sé dó agus dúirt leis: “An bhfuil do chroíse dílis do mo chroíse faoi mar atá mo chroíse do do chroíse?” “Tá,” d'fhreagair Iahónádáb. “Má tá,” arsa Iéahú, “tabhair dom do lámh.” Thug sé a lámh dó agus thóg Iéahú suas taobh leis é ina charbad.

Jonadab sprach: Ja. Ist's also, so gib mir deine Hand!

16 And he said, Come with me and see how I am on fire for the Lord's cause. So he made him go with him in his carriage.

16 “Tar liom,” ar sé, “agus feic mo dhúthracht ar son an Tiarna,” agus thiomáin sé leis ina charbad é.

17 And when he came to Samaria, he put to death all those of Ahab's family who were still in Samaria, till there were no more of them, as the Lord had said to Elijah.

18 Then Jehu got all the people together and said to them, Ahab was Baal's servant in a small way, but Jehu will be his servant on a great scale.

18 Ansin chruinnigh Iéahú an pobal go léir agus dúirt: “Rinne Acháb beagán seirbhíse do Bhál, ach déanfaidh Iéahú mórán.

19 Now send for all the prophets of Baal and all his servants and all his priests, to come to me; let no one keep away: for I have a great offering to make to Baal; anyone who is not present, will be put to death. This Jehu did with deceit, his purpose being the destruction of the servants of Baal.

19 Glaoigí chugam dá bhrí sin ar fháithe Bhál ar a mhóidíní go léir, agus ar a shagairt; ná bíodh aon duine in easnamh mar tá íobairt mhór le hofráil agam do Bhál. Má bhíonn aon duine ar iarraidh, caillfidh sé a anam dá bharr.”

20 And Jehu said, Let there be a special holy meeting for the worship of Baal. So a public statement was made.

20 Agus dúirt Iéahú: “Cruinnigí tionól naofa do Bhál!” Agus thugadar fógra cruinnithe.

20 Y dijo Jehú: Santificad un día solemne á Baal. Y ellos convocaron.

20 Und Jehu sprach: Heiligt dem Baal das Fest! Und sie ließen es ausrufen.

21 And Jehu sent out through all Israel; and all the servants of Baal came, not one kept away. And they came into the house of Baal, so that it was full from end to end.

21 Chuir Iéahú teachtairí ar fud Iosrael agus tháinig lucht adhartha Bhál go léir, agus níor fhan oiread agus duine gan teacht. Isteach leo i dteampall Bhál agus líonadh teampall Bhál ó cheann ceann.

22 And Jehu said to him who kept the robes, Get out robes for all the servants of Baal. So he got out robes for them.

22 Ansin dúirt Iéahú le coimeádaí na n‑éidí: “Tabhair amach na héidí do lucht adhartha Bhál go léir,” agus thug sé amach na héidí dóibh.

23 And Jehu, with Jehonadab, the son of Rechab, went into the house of Baal; and he said to the servants of Baal, Make a search with care, to see that no servant of the Lord is with you, but only servants of Baal.

23 Chuaigh Iéahú ansin isteach i dteampall Bhál le Iahónádáb mac Raecáb agus dúirt le lucht adhartha Bhál: “Cuardaigí agus déanaigí deimhin de nach bhfuil aon searbhónta leis an Tiarna anseo in bhur measc, ach lucht adhartha Bhál amháin.”

24 Then they went in to make offerings and burned offerings. Now Jehu had put eighty men outside, and said to them, If any man whom I give into your hands gets away, the life of him who lets him go will be the price of his life.

Bhí ceithre fichid fear curtha lasmuigh ag Iéahú á rá leo: “An té a ligfidh d'aon duine den mhuintir a thabharfaidh mé in bhur lámha éalú, díolfaidh sé as lena anam.”

25 Then when the burned offering was ended, straight away Jehu said to the armed men and the captains, Go in and put them to death; let not one come out. So they put them to the sword; and, pulling the images to the earth, they went into the holy place of the house of Baal.

25 A luaithe dá bhrí sin a bhí an íobairt loiscthe ofráilte aige dúirt Iéahú leis an ngarda agus leis na hoifigigh: “Isteach libh agus cuirigí chun báis iad; ná scaoiligí le haon duine.” Agus chuaigh an garda agus na hoifigigh isteach agus chuireadar iad go léir chun báis go dtí gur bhaineadar amach sanctóir theampall Bhál.

26 And they took out the image of Asherah from the house of Baal, and had it burned.

26 Thógadar an [cuaille naofa] as teampall Bhál agus dhódar é.

27 The altar of Baal was pulled down and the house of Baal was broken up and made an unclean place, as it is to this day.

27 Scriosadar [altóir] Bhál agus scriosadar teampall Bhál chomh maith, agus rinneadar camraí de agus tá sé amhlaidh go dtí an lá inniu féin.

28 So Jehu put an end to the worship of Baal in Israel.

28 Jéhu extermina Baal du milieu d'Israël;

28 Sin mar a scrios Iéahú Bál as Iosrael.

28 Así extinguió Jehú á Baal de Israel.

28 Also vertilgte Jehu den Baal aus Israel;

29 But Jehu did not keep himself from all the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, and the evil he made Israel do; the gold oxen were still in Beth-el and in Dan.

29 Ach níor thug sé cúl leis na peacaí inar sheol Iarobám mac Nabát Iosrael, na laonna óir i mBéitéil agus i nDán.

30 And the Lord said to Jehu, Because you have done well in doing what is right in my eyes and effecting all my purpose for the family of Ahab, your sons will be kings of Israel to the fourth generation.

30 Dúirt an Tiarna le Iéahú: “Ós rud é go ndearna tú go maith a raibh taitneamhach i mo láthair, agus gur chuir tú i gcrích gach ar bheartaigh mé i mo chroí in aghaidh theaghlach Acháb, beidh do shliocht ina suí i ríchathaoir Iosrael síos go dtí an ceathrú glúin.”

31 But Jehu did not take care to keep the law of the Lord with all his heart: he did not keep himself from the sin which Jeroboam did and made Israel do.

31 Ach níor lean Iéahú dlí an Tiarna, Dia Iosrael, go dílis ná óna chroí go hiomlán; níor thug sé cul leis na peacaí inar sheol Iarobám mac Nabát Iosrael.

32 In those days the Lord was angry first with Israel; and Hazael made attacks on all the land of Israel,

32 Um an dtaca sin chrom an Tiarna ar Iosrael a shnoí; fuair Hazáéil an lámh in uachtar orthu ar fud críocha Iosrael go léir

33 East of Jordan, in all the land of Gilead, the Gadites and the Reubenites and the Manassites, from Aroer by the valley of the Arnon, all Gilead and Bashan.

33 lastoir den Iordáin; críocha Ghileád go léir, na Gádaigh, na Reúbaenaigh, na Manaisigh, óAroéir atá láimh le Gleann Arnón, Gileád agus Báiseán.

34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all he did, and his great power, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Israel?

34 An chuid eile de stair Iéahú, a imeachtaí go léir, agus a ghaisce, nach bhfuil sin go léir scríofa i Leabhar Annála Ríthe Iosrael?

35 And Jehu went to rest with his fathers, and was put into the earth in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son became king in his place.

35 Ansin chuaigh Iéahú chun suain lena shinsir agus adhlacadh é sa tSamáir; tháinig a mhac Iahóácház i gcomharbacht air.

36 And the time of Jehu's rule over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.

36 Jéhu avait régné vingt-huit ans sur Israël à Samarie.

36 Bhí Iéahú ocht mbliana fichead i réim ar Iosrael sa tSamáir.
