1 Now when the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a great wind, Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

2 And Elijah said to Elisha, Come no farther for the Lord has sent me to Beth-el. But Elisha said, As the Lord is living and as your soul is living, I will not be parted from you. So they went down to Beth-el.
2 Élie dit à Élisée: Reste ici, je te prie, car l'Éternel m'envoie jusqu'à Béthel. Élisée répondit: L'Éternel est vivant et ton âme est vivante! je ne te quitterai point. Et ils descendirent à Béthel.

2 Und Elia sprach zu Elisa: Bleib doch hier; denn der HERR hat mich gen Beth-El gesandt. Elisa aber sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt und deine Seele, ich verlasse dich nicht. Und da sie hinab gen Beth-El kamen,
3 And at Beth-el the sons of the prophets came out to Elisha and said, Has it been made clear to you that the Lord is going to take away your master from over you today? And he said, Yes, I have knowledge of it: say no more.
3 Les fils des prophètes qui étaient à Béthel sortirent vers Élisée, et lui dirent: Sais-tu que l'Éternel enlève aujourd'hui ton maître au-dessus de ta tête? Et il répondit: Je le sais aussi; taisez-vous.
3 Agus bráithreachas na bhfáithe i mBéitéil, thángadar amach go hEilíseá, agus dúradar leis: “An bhfuil a fhios agat go dtógfaidh an Tiarna do mháistir chun siúil ó do chúram inniu?” “Sea, tá a fhios agam,” ar sé. “Ceapaigí bhur suaimhneas.”
3 Y saliendo á Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Beth-el, dijéronle: ¿Sabes cómo Jehová quitará hoy á tu señor de tu cabeza? Y él dijo: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.
3 gingen der Propheten Kinder, die zu Beth-El waren, heraus zu Elisa und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du auch, daß der HERR wird deinen Herrn heute von deinen Häupten nehmen? Er aber sprach: Ich weiß es auch wohl; schweigt nur still.
4 Then Elijah said to him, Come no farther, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. But he said, As the Lord is living and as your soul is living, I will not be parted from you. So they went on to Jericho.
4 Élie lui dit: Élisée, reste ici, je te prie, car l'Éternel m'envoie à Jéricho. Il répondit: L'Éternel est vivant et ton âme est vivante! je ne te quitterai point. Et ils arrivèrent à Jéricho.
4 Dúirt Éilias leis: “Fan anseo, a Eilíseá, le do thoil, mar nach bhfuil an Tiarna do mo chur ach go Ireachó.” Ach d'fhreagair sé: “Dar an Tiarna beo, agus dar do bheo féin, ní fhágfaidh mé thú,” agus chuadar ar aghaidh go Ireachó.
4 Y Elías le volvió á decir: Eliseo, quédate aquí ahora, porque Jehová me ha enviado á Jericó. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Vinieron pues á Jericó.
4 Und Elia sprach zu ihm: Elisa, bleib doch hier; denn der HERR hat mich gen Jericho gesandt. Er aber sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt und deine Seele, ich verlasse dich nicht. Und da sie gen Jericho kamen,
5 And at Jericho the sons of the prophets came up to Elisha and said to him, Has it been made clear to you that the Lord is going to take away your master from over you today? And he said in answer, Yes, I have knowledge of it: say no more.
5 Les fils des prophètes qui étaient à Jéricho s'approchèrent d'Élisée, et lui dirent: Sais-tu que l'Éternel enlève aujourd'hui ton maître au-dessus de ta tête? Et il répondit: Je le sais aussi; taisez-vous.
5 Agus bráithreachas na bhfáithe in Ireachó, thángadar go hEilíseá agus dúradar leis: “An bhfuil a fhios agat go dtógfaidh an Tiarna do mháistir chun siúil ó do chúram inniu?” “Sea, tá a fhios agam,” ar sé. “Ceapaigí bhur suaimhneas.”
5 Y llegáronse á Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó, y dijéronle: ¿Sabes cómo Jehová quitará hoy á tu señor de tu cabeza? Y él respondió: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.
5 traten der Propheten Kinder, die zu Jericho waren, zu Elisa und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du auch, daß der HERR wird deinen Herrn heute von deinen Häupten nehmen? Er aber sprach: Ich weiß es auch wohl; schweigt nur still.
6 Then Elijah said to him, Come no farther, for the Lord has sent me to Jordan. But he said, As the Lord is living and as your soul is living, I will not be parted from you. So they went on together.
6 Élie lui dit: Reste ici, je te prie, car l'Éternel m'envoie au Jourdain. Il répondit: L'Éternel est vivant et ton âme est vivante! je ne te quitterai point. Et ils poursuivirent tous deux leur chemin.
6 Dúirt Éilias le hEilíseá: “Fan anseo, le do thoil, a Eilíseá. Níl an Tiarna do mo chur ach go dtí an Iordáin.” D'fhreagair sé áfach: “Dar an Tiarna beo, agus dar do bheo féin, ní fhágfaidh mé thú.” Agus chuaigh an bheirt acu ar aghaidh le chéile.
6 Y Elías le dijo: Ruégote que te quedes aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado al Jordán. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Fueron pues ambos á dos.
6 Und Elia sprach zu ihm: Bleib doch hier; denn der HERR hat mich gesandt an den Jordan. Er aber sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt und deine Seele, ich verlasse dich nicht. Und sie gingen beide miteinander.
7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went out and took their places facing them a long way off, while the two of them were by the edge of Jordan.
7 Cinquante hommes d'entre les fils des prophètes arrivèrent et s'arrêtèrent à distance vis-à-vis, et eux deux s'arrêtèrent au bord du Jourdain.
7 Bhí caoga duine de bhráithreachas na bhfáithe á leanúint, agus stad siad tamall maith uathu nuair a sheas an bheirt acu cois na Iordáine.
7 Y vinieron cincuenta varones de los hijos de los profetas, y paráronse enfrente á lo lejos: y ellos dos se pararon junto al Jordán.
7 Aber fünfzig Männer unter der Propheten Kindern gingen hin und traten gegenüber von ferne; aber die beiden standen am Jordan.
8 Then Elijah took off his robe, and, rolling it up, gave the water a blow with it, and the waters were parted, flowing back this way and that, so that they went over on dry land.
8 Alors Élie prit son manteau, le roula, et en frappa les eaux, qui se partagèrent çà et là, et ils passèrent tous deux à sec.
8 Rug Éilias ar a fhallaing, chorn sé suas í agus bhuail sé an t‑uisce; scar an t‑uisce deas agus clé agus chuaigh an bheirt acu anonn de chosa tirime.
8 Tomando entonces Elías su manto, doblólo, é hirió las aguas, las cuales se apartaron á uno y á otro lado, y pasaron ambos en seco.
8 Da nahm Elia seinen Mantel und wickelte ihn zusammen und schlug ins Wasser; das teilte sich auf beiden Seiten, daß die beiden trocken hindurchgingen.
9 And when they had come to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha, Say what you would have me do for you before I am taken from you. And Elisha said, Be pleased to let a special measure of your spirit be on me.
9 Lorsqu'ils eurent passé, Élie dit à Élisée: Demande ce que tu veux que je fasse pour toi, avant que je sois enlevé d'avec toi. Élisée répondit: Qu'il y ait sur moi, je te prie, une double portion de ton esprit!
9 Nuair a bhíodar ar an taobh thall, dúirt Éilias le hEilíseá: “Iarr cibé atá uait a dhéanfainn duit, sula mbaintear uait mé.” D'fhreagair Eilíseá: “Bíodh do spiorad faoi dhó mar oidhreacht agam, le do thoil.”
9 Y como hubieron pasado, Elías dijo á Eliseo: Pide lo que quieres que haga por ti, antes que sea quitado de contigo. Y dijo Eliseo: Ruégote que las dos partes de tu espíritu sean sobre mí.
9 Und da sie hinüberkamen, sprach Elia zu Elisa: Bitte, was ich dir tun soll, ehe ich von dir genommen werde. Elisa sprach: Daß mir werde ein zwiefältig Teil von deinem Geiste.
10 And he said, You have made a hard request: still, if you see me when I am taken from you, you will get your desire; but if not, it will not be so.
10 Élie dit: Tu demandes une chose difficile. Mais si tu me vois pendant que je serai enlevé d'avec toi, cela t'arrivera ainsi; sinon, cela n'arrivera pas.
10 “Is deacair d'iarratas a thabhairt duit,” arsa Éilias. “Má fheiceann tú mé agus mé do mo thabhairt ar shiúl uait, beidh sé agat mar a d'iarr tú; mura bhfeiceann, ní bheidh sé amhlaidh.”
10 Y él le dijo: Cosa difícil has pedido. Si me vieres cuando fuere quitado de ti, te será así hecho; mas si no, no.
10 Er sprach: Du hast ein Hartes gebeten. Doch, so du mich sehen wirst, wenn ich von dir genommen werde, so wird's ja sein; wo nicht, so wird's nicht sein.
11 And while they went on their way, going on talking together, suddenly there were carriages and horses of fire separating them from one another and Elijah went up to heaven in a great wind.
11 Comme ils continuaient à marcher en parlant, voici, un char de feu et des chevaux de feu les séparèrent l'un de l'autre, et Élie monta au ciel dans un tourbillon.

11 Und da sie miteinander gingen und redeten, siehe, da kam ein feuriger Wagen mit feurigen Rossen, die schieden die beiden voneinander; und Elia fuhr also im Wetter gen Himmel.
12 And when Elisha saw it he gave a cry, My father, my father, the carriages of Israel and its horsemen! And he saw him no longer; and he was full of grief.
12 Élisée regardait et criait: Mon père! mon père! Char d'Israël et sa cavalerie! Et il ne le vit plus. Saisissant alors ses vêtements, il les déchira en deux morceaux,
12 Chonaic Eilíseá sin agus scairt sé: “A athair, a athair liom! Carbad Iosrael agus a eachra!” Chaill sé radharc air ansin, agus rug sé ar a chuid éadaigh agus stróic sé ina dhá leath iad.
12 Y viéndolo Eliseo, clamaba: ¡Padre mío, padre mío, carro de Israel y su gente de á caballo! Y nunca más le vió, y trabando de sus vestidos, rompiólos en dos partes.
12 Elisa aber sah es und schrie: Vater, mein Vater, Wagen Israels und seine Reiter! und sah ihn nicht mehr. Und er faßte sein Kleider und zerriß sie in zwei Stücke
13 Then he took up Elijah's robe, which had been dropped from him, and went back till he came to the edge of Jordan.
13 et il releva le manteau qu'Élie avait laissé tomber. Puis il retourna, et s'arrêta au bord du Jourdain;
13 Thóg sé suas fallaing Éilias a thit uaidh, chuaigh ar ais agus sheas ar bhruach na Iordáine.
13 Alzó luego el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y volvió, y paróse á la orilla del Jordán.
13 und hob auf den Mantel Elia's, der ihm entfallen war, und kehrte um und trat an das Ufer des Jordans
14 And he took Elijah's robe, which had been dropped from him, and giving the water a blow with it, said, Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah? and at his blow the waters were parted this way and that; and Elisha went over.
14 il prit le manteau qu'Élie avait laissé tomber, et il en frappa les eaux, et dit: Où est l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Élie? Lui aussi, il frappa les eaux, qui se partagèrent çà et là, et Élisée passa.
14 Rug sé greim ar fhallaing Éilias a thit uaidhsean agus bhuail sé an t‑uisce. “Cá bhfuil an Tiarna, Dia Éilias?” a scairt sé. Bhuail sé an t‑uisce agus scar an t‑uisce deas clé agus chuaigh Eilíseá anonn.
14 Y tomando el manto de Elías que se le había caído, hirió las aguas, y dijo: ¿Dónde está Jehová, el Dios de Elías? Y así que hubo del mismo modo herido las aguas, apartáronse á uno y á otro lado, y pasó Eliseo.
14 und nahm den Mantel Elia's, der ihm entfallen war, und schlug ins Wasser und sprach: Wo ist nun der HERR, der Gott Elia's? und schlug ins Wasser; da teilte sich's auf beide Seiten, und Elisa ging hindurch.
15 And when the sons of the prophets who were facing him at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha. And they came out to him, and went down on the earth before him.
15 Les fils des prophètes qui étaient à Jéricho, vis-à-vis, l'ayant vu, dirent: L'esprit d'Élie repose sur Élisée! Et ils allèrent à sa rencontre, et se prosternèrent contre terre devant lui.
15 Chonaic bráithreachas na bhfáithe [in Ireachó] uathu é, agus dúradar: “Tá spiorad Éilias luite ar Eilíseá,” agus thángadar ina araicis agus chromadar chun talún ina láthair.
15 Y viéndole los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó de la otra parte, dijeron: El espíritu de Elías reposó sobre Eliseo. Y viniéronle á recibir, é inclináronse á él hasta la tierra.
15 Und da ihn sahen der Propheten Kinder, die gegenüber zu Jericho waren, sprachen sie: Der Geist Elia's ruht auf Elisa; und gingen ihm entgegen und fielen vor ihm nieder zur Erde
16 And they said, Your servants have with us here fifty strong men; be pleased to let them go in search of Elijah; for it may be that the spirit of the Lord has taken him up and put him down on some mountain or in some valley. But he said, Do not send them.
16 Ils lui dirent: Voici, il y a parmi tes serviteurs cinquante hommes vaillants; veux-tu qu'ils aillent chercher ton maître? Peut-être que l'esprit de l'Éternel l'a emporté et l'a jeté sur quelque montagne ou dans quelque vallée. Il répondit: Ne les envoyez pas.
16 “Féach, tá caoga fear tréan i dteannta do shearbhóntaí anois,” ar siad leis; “lig dóibh imeacht, le do thoil, chun do mháistir a chuardach; b'fhéidir gurb amhlaidh a d'ardaigh spiorad an Tiarna in airde leis é agus é a chaitheamh anuas ar chnoc éigin nó síos i ngleann éigin.” Ach dúirt sé: “Ná cuirigí aon duine uaibh.”
16 Y dijéronle: He aquí hay con tus siervos cincuenta varones fuertes: vayan ahora y busquen á tu señor; quizá lo ha levantado el espíritu de Jehová, y lo ha echado en algún monte ó en algún valle. Y él les dijo: No enviéis.
16 und sprachen zu ihm: Siehe, es sind unter deinen Knechten fünfzig Männer, starke leute, die laß gehen und deinen Herrn suchen; vielleicht hat ihn der Geist des HERRN genommen und irgend auf einen Berg oder irgend in ein Tal geworfen. Er aber sprach: Laßt ihn gehen!
17 But when they kept on requesting him, he was shamed and said, Send, then. So they sent fifty men; but after searching for three days, they came back without having seen him.
17 Mais ils le pressèrent longtemps; et il dit: Envoyez-les. Ils envoyèrent les cinquante hommes, qui cherchèrent Élie pendant trois jours et ne le trouvèrent point.
17 Ach bhíodar ag tathant air gur chuireadar náire air nó go ndúirt sé: “Cuirigí.” Chuireadar caoga fear dá bhrí sin agus bhíodar á lorg ar feadh trí lá ach gan é a fháil.
17 Mas ellos le importunaron, hasta que avergonzándose, dijo: Enviad. Entonces ellos enviaron cincuenta hombres, los cuales lo buscaron tres días, mas no lo hallaron.
17 Aber sie nötigten ihn, bis daß er nachgab und sprach: Laßt hingehen! Und sie sandte hin fünfzig Männer und suchten ihn drei Tage; aber sie fanden ihn nicht.
18 And they came back to him, while he was still at Jericho; and he said to them, Did I not say to you, Go not?
18 Lorsqu'ils furent de retour auprès d'Élisée, qui était à Jéricho, il leur dit: Ne vous avais-je pas dit: N'allez pas?
18 Ansin thángadar ar ais go hEilíseá a d'fhan in Ireachó agus dúirt sé leo: “Nár dhúirt mé libh gan dul?” Míorúiltí le hEilíseá
18 Y cuando volvieron á él, que se había quedado en Jericó, él les dijo: ¿No os dije yo que no fueseis?
18 Und kamen wieder zu ihm, da er noch zu Jericho war; und er sprach zu ihnen: Sagte ich euch nicht, ihr solltet nicht hingehen?
19 Now the men of the town said to Elisha, You see that the position of this town is good; but the water is bad, causing the young of the cattle to come to birth dead.
19 Les gens de la ville dirent à Élisée: Voici, le séjour de la ville est bon, comme le voit mon seigneur; mais les eaux sont mauvaises, et le pays est stérile.
19 Dúirt muintir na cathrach le hEilíseá: “Féach, is taitneamhach an ball í an chathair seo, mar is léir do mo thiarna, ach tá an t‑uisce bréan agus tá an ithir neamhthorthúil.”
19 Y los hombres de la ciudad dijeron á Eliseo: He aquí el asiento de esta ciudad es bueno, como mi señor ve; mas las aguas son malas, y la tierra enferma.
19 Und die Männer der Stadt sprachen zu Elisa: Siehe, es ist gut wohnen in dieser Stadt, wie mein Herr sieht; aber es ist böses Wasser und das Land unfruchtbar.
20 So he said, Get me a new vessel, and put salt in it; and they took it to him.
20 Il dit: Apportez-moi un plat neuf, et mettez-y du sel. Et ils le lui apportèrent.
20 “Tugaigí crúiscín nua chugam,” ar sé, “agus cuirigí roinnt salainn ann.” Thugadar chuige é.
20 Entonces él dijo: Traedme una botija nueva, y poned en ella sal. Y trajéronsela.
20 Er sprach: Bringet mir her eine neue Schale und tut Salz darein! Und sie brachten's ihm.
21 Then he went out to the spring from which the water came, and put salt in it, and said, The Lord says, Now I have made this water sweet; no longer will it be death-giving or unfertile.
21 Il alla vers la source des eaux, et il y jeta du sel, et dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: J'assainis ces eaux; il n'en proviendra plus ni mort, ni stérilité.
21 Chuaigh sé ansin go súil an tobair agus chaith salann isteach inti, agus dúirt: “Mar seo a deir an Tiarna: ‘Rinne mé an t‑uisce seo glan; ní bheidh bás ná marbhghin as feasta.’ ”
21 Y saliendo él á los manaderos de las aguas, echó dentro la sal, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Yo sané estas aguas, y no habrá más en ellas muerte ni enfermedad.
21 Da ging er hinaus zu der Wasserquelle und warf das Salz hinein und sprach: So spricht der HERR: Ich habe dies Wasser gesund gemacht; es soll hinfort kein Tod noch Unfruchtbarkeit daher kommen.
22 And the water was made sweet again to this day, as Elisha said.
22 Et les eaux furent assainies, jusqu'à ce jour, selon la parole qu'Élisée avait prononcée.
22 D'éirigh an t‑uisce folláin agus tá sé amhlaidh go dtí an lá inniu mar a dúirt Eilíseá a bheadh.
22 Y fueron sanas las aguas hasta hoy, conforme á la palabra que habló Eliseo.
22 Also ward das Wasser gesund bis auf diesen Tag nach dem Wort Elisas, das er redete.
23 Then from there he went up to Beth-el; and on his way, some little boys came out from the town and made sport of him, crying, Go up, old no-hair! go up, old no-hair!
23 Il monta de là à Béthel; et comme il cheminait à la montée, des petits garçons sortirent de la ville, et se moquèrent de lui. Ils lui disaient: Monte, chauve! monte, chauve!
23 Ghabh sé suas go Béitéil ón áit sin, agus fad a bhí sé ar an mbealach suas, tháinig buachaillí beaga amach as an gcathair agus bhíodar ag déanamh fonóid faoi á rá: “Suas leat, a phlaitínigh! Suas leat, a phlaitínigh!”
23 Después subió de allí á Beth-el; y subiendo por el camino, salieron los muchachos de la ciudad, y se burlaban de él, diciendo: ¡Calvo, sube! ¡calvo, sube!
23 Und er ging hinauf gen Beth-El. Und als er auf dem Wege hinanging, kamen kleine Knaben zur Stadt heraus und spotteten sein und sprachen zu ihm: Kahlkopf, komm herauf! Kahlkopf, komm herauf!
24 And turning back, he saw them, and put a curse on them in the name of the Lord. And two she-bears came out of the wood and put forty-two of the children to death.
24 Il se retourna pour les regarder, et il les maudit au nom de l'Éternel. Alors deux ours sortirent de la forêt, et déchirèrent quarante-deux de ces enfants.
24 Chas sé timpeall agus d'fhéach orthu agus chuir mallacht orthu in ainm an Tiarna. Tháinig dhá bheithir bhaineanna amach as an gcoill agus stolladar beirt agus daichead de na buachaillí.
24 Y mirando él atrás, viólos, y maldíjolos en el nombre de Jehová. Y salieron dos osos del monte, y despedazaron de ellos cuarenta y dos muchachos.
24 Und er wandte sich um; und da er sie sah, fluchte er ihnen im Namen des HERRN. Da kamen zwei Bären aus dem Walde und zerrissen der Kinder zweiundvierzig.
25 From there he went to Mount Carmel, and came back from there to Samaria.
25 De là il alla sur la montagne du Carmel, d'où il retourna à Samarie.
