1 Ahab gave Jezebel news of all Elijah had done, and how he had put all the prophets to death with the sword.
1 Achab rapporta à Jézabel tout ce qu'avait fait Élie, et comment il avait tué par l'épée tous les prophètes.
1 Nuair a d'inis Acháb do Ízeibil a raibh déanta ag Éilias agus conas mar a chuir sé na fáithe go léir chun báis le faobhar claímh,
1 Y Achâb dió la nueva á Jezabel de todo lo que Elías había hecho, de como había muerto á cuchillo á todos los profetas.
1 Und Ahab sagte Isebel alles an, was Elia getan hatte und wie er hatte alle Propheten Baals mit dem Schwert erwürgt.
2 Then Jezebel sent a servant to Elijah, saying, May the gods' punishment be on me if I do not make your life like the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.
2 Jézabel envoya un messager à Élie, pour lui dire: Que les dieux me traitent dans toute leur rigueur, si demain, à cette heure, je ne fais de ta vie ce que tu as fait de la vie de chacun d'eux!
2 chuir Ízeibil teachtaireacht go hÉilias a rá: “Go ndéana na déithe a leithéid seo agus a leithéid siúd sa bhreis liom mura mbíonn an íde chéanna tugtha agam ar d'anamsa agus a tugadh ar anam duine acu um an dtaca seo amárach!”
2 Entonces envió Jezabel á Elías un mensajero, diciendo: Así me hagan los dioses, y así me añadan, si mañana á estas horas yo no haya puesto tu persona como la de uno de ellos.
2 Da sandte Isebel einen Boten zu Elia und ließ ihm sagen: Die Götter tun mir dies und das, wo ich nicht morgen um diese Zeit deiner Seele tue wie dieser Seelen einer.
3 And he got up, fearing for his life, and went in flight, and came to Beer-sheba in Judah, parting there from his servant;
3 Élie, voyant cela, se leva et s'en alla, pour sauver sa vie. Il arriva à Beer Schéba, qui appartient à Juda, et il y laissa son serviteur.
3 Tháinig scéin air agus d'éirigh sé agus rith lena anam. Tháinig sé go Béar Seaba, a bhaineann le Iúdá, agus d'fhág sé a sheirbhíseach ansiúd.
3 Viendo pues el peligro, levantóse y fuése por salvar su vida, y vino á Beer-seba, que es en Judá, y dejó allí su criado.
3 Da er das sah, machte er sich auf und ging hin um seines Lebens willen und kam gen Beer-Seba in Juda und ließ seinen Diener daselbst.
4 While he himself went a day's journey into the waste land, and took a seat under a broom-plant, desiring for himself only death; for he said, It is enough: now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.
4 Pour lui, il alla dans le désert où, après une journée de marche, il s'assit sous un genêt, et demanda la mort, en disant: C'est assez! Maintenant, Éternel, prends mon âme, car je ne suis pas meilleur que mes pères.
4 Chuaigh sé féin ar aghaidh turas lae isteach san fhásach, agus shuigh faoi thor aitinn agus d'iarr go bhfaigheadh bás. “A Thiarna,” ar sé, “tá mo sháith agam. Beir leat m'anam. Ní fearr mé ná mo shinsir.”
4 Y él se fué por el desierto un día de camino, y vino y sentóse debajo de un enebro; y deseando morirse, dijo: Baste ya, oh Jehová, quita mi alma; que no soy yo mejor que mis padres.
4 Er aber ging hin in die Wüste eine Tagereise und kam hinein und setzte sich unter einen Wacholder und bat, daß seine Seele stürbe, und sprach: Es ist genug, so nimm nun, HERR, meine Seele; ich bin nicht besser denn meine Väter.
5 And stretching himself on the earth, he went to sleep under the broom-plant; but an angel, touching him, said to him, Get up and have some food.
5 Il se coucha et s'endormit sous un genêt. Et voici, un ange le toucha, et lui dit: Lève-toi, mange.
5 Ansin luigh sé síos agus thit a chodladh air faoin tor aitinn. Ach, féach, chorraigh aingeal é agus dúirt: “Éirigh agus ith!”
5 Y echándose debajo del enebro, quedóse dormido: y he aquí luego un ángel que le tocó, y le dijo: Levántate, come.
5 Und er legte sich und schlief unter dem Wacholder. Und siehe, ein Engel rührte ihn an und sprach zu ihm: Steh auf und iß!
6 And looking up, he saw by his head a cake cooked on the stones and a bottle of water. So he took food and drink and went to sleep again.
6 Il regarda, et il y avait à son chevet un gâteau cuit sur des pierres chauffées et une cruche d'eau. Il mangea et but, puis se recoucha.
6 D'amharc sé thart agus siúd ag a cheann toirtín a bruitheadh ar leaca te agus crúiscín uisce. D'ith sé agus d'ól sé agus ansin luigh sé síos arís.
6 Entonces él miró, y he aquí á su cabecera una torta cocida sobre las ascuas, y un vaso de agua: y comió y bebió y volvióse á dormir.
6 Und er sah sich um, und siehe, zu seinen Häupten lag ein geröstetes Brot und eine Kanne mit Wasser. Und da er gegessen und getrunken hatte, legte er sich wieder schlafen.
7 And the angel of the Lord came again a second time, and touching him said, Get up and have some food, or the journey will be overmuch for your strength.
7 L'ange de l'Éternel vint une seconde fois, le toucha, et dit: Lève-toi, mange, car le chemin est trop long pour toi.
7 Tháinig aingeal an Tiarna ar ais chuige an dara huair, chorraigh é agus dúirt: “Éirigh agus ith nó beidh an t‑aistear ró-fhada duit.”
7 Y volviendo el ángel de Jehová la segunda vez, tocóle, diciendo: Levántate, come: porque gran camino te resta.
7 Und der Engel des HERRN kam zum andernmal wieder und rührte ihn an und sprach: Steh auf und iß! denn du hast einen großen Weg vor dir.
8 So he got up and took food and drink, and in the strength of that food he went on for forty days and nights, to Horeb, the mountain of God.
8 Il se leva, mangea et but; et avec la force que lui donna cette nourriture, il marcha quarante jours et quarante nuits jusqu'à la montagne de Dieu, à Horeb.
8 D'éirigh sé mar sin, agus d'ith sé agus d'ól sé, agus neartaigh an bia chomh mór sin é gur shiúil sé daichead lá agus daichead oíche nó gur shroich sé Horaeb, sliabh Dé.
8 Levantóse pues, y comió y bebió; y caminó con la fortaleza de aquella comida cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, hasta el monte de Dios, Horeb.
8 Er stand auf und aß und trank und ging durch die Kraft derselben Speise vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte bis an den Berg Gottes Horeb
9 And there he went into a hole in the rock for the night; then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, What are you doing here, Elijah?
9 Et là, il entra dans la caverne, et il y passa la nuit. Et voici, la parole de l'Éternel lui fut adressée, en ces mots: Que fais-tu ici, Élie?
9 Agus chuaigh sé isteach san uaimh ansiúd agus chaith an oíche ann. Agus tháinig briathar an Tiarna chuige á rá: “Cad tá tú a dhéanamh anseo, a Éilias?”
9 Y allí se metió en una cueva, donde tuvo la noche. Y fué á él palabra de Jehová, el cual le dijo: ¿Qué haces aquí, Elías?
9 und kam daselbst in eine Höhle und blieb daselbst über Nacht. Und siehe, das Wort des HERRN kam zu ihm und sprach zu ihm: Was machst du hier, Elia?
10 And he said, I have been burning for the honour of the Lord, the God of armies; for the children of Israel have not kept your agreement; they have made destruction of your altars, and have put your prophets to death with the sword: till I, even I, am the only one living; and now they are attempting to take away my life.
10 Il répondit: J'ai déployé mon zèle pour l'Éternel, le Dieu des armées; car les enfants d'Israël ont abandonné ton alliance, ils ont renversé tes autels, et ils ont tué par l'épée tes prophètes; je suis resté, moi seul, et ils cherchent à m'ôter la vie.
10 D'fhreagair sé: “Táim lán de dhíograis agus de dhúthracht do Thiarna na Slua, mar gur thréig clann Iosrael [thú] gur leagadar d'altóirí, agus gur chuireadar d'fháithe chun báis. Níl fágtha ach mise agus tá siad ar thóir m'anama, ar tí mo mharaithe.”
10 Y él respondió: Sentido he un vivo celo por Jehová Dios de los ejércitos; porque los hijos de Israel han dejado tu alianza, han derribado tus altares, y han muerto á cuchillo tus profetas: y yo solo he quedado, y me buscan para quitarme la vida.
10 Er sprach: Ich habe geeifert um den HERRN, den Gott Zebaoth; denn die Kinder Israel haben deinen Bund verlassen und deine Altäre zerbrochen und deine Propheten mit dem Schwert erwürgt, und ich bin allein übriggeblieben, und sie stehen darnach, daß sie mir mein Leben nehmen.
11 Then he said, Go out and take your place on the mountain before the Lord. Then the Lord went by, and mountains were parted by the force of a great wind, and rocks were broken before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind there was an earth-shock, but the Lord was not in the earth-shock.
11 L'Éternel dit: Sors, et tiens-toi dans la montagne devant l'Éternel! Et voici, l'Éternel passa. Et devant l'Éternel, il y eut un vent fort et violent qui déchirait les montagnes et brisait les rochers: l'Éternel n'était pas dans le vent. Et après le vent, ce fut un tremblement de terre: l'Éternel n'était pas dans le tremblement de terre.
11 Ansin fuair sé an focal: “Gabh amach agus seas ar an sliabh os comhair an Tiarna.” Chuaigh an Tiarna féin thar bráid ansin. Tháinig gaoth láidir, chomh tréan sin gur réab sí na sléibhte agus go ndearna smionagar de na carraigeacha roimh an Tiarna. Ach ní raibh an Tiarna sa ghaoth. I ndiaidh na gaoithe tháinig crith talún. Ach ní raibh an Tiarna sa chrith talún.
11 Y él le dijo: Sal fuera, y ponte en el monte delante de Jehová. Y he aquí Jehová que pasaba, y un grande y poderoso viento que rompía los montes, y quebraba las peñas delante de Jehová: mas Jehová no estaba en el viento. Y tras el viento un terremoto: mas Jehová no estaba en el terremoto.
11 Er sprach: Gehe heraus und tritt auf den Berg vor den HERRN! Und siehe, der HERR ging vorüber und ein großer, starker Wind, der die Berge zerriß und die Felsen zerbrach, vor dem HERRN her; der HERR war aber nicht im Winde. Nach dem Winde aber kam ein Erdbeben; aber der HERR war nicht im Erdbeben.
12 And after the earth-shock a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire, the sound of a soft breath.
12 Et après le tremblement de terre, un feu: l'Éternel n'était pas dans le feu. Et après le feu, un murmure doux et léger.
12 I ndiaidh an chrith talún, tháinig tine. Ach ní raibh an Tiarna sa tine. I ndiaidh na tine, tháinig fuaim chogair bhig.
12 Y tras el terremoto un fuego: mas Jehová no estaba en el fuego. Y tras el fuego un silvo apacible y delicado.
12 Und nach dem Erdbeben kam ein Feuer; aber der HERR war nicht im Feuer. Und nach dem Feuer kam ein stilles, sanftes Sausen.
13 And Elijah, hearing it, went out, covering his face with his robe, and took his place in the opening of the hole. And there a voice came to him saying, What are you doing here, Elijah?
13 Quand Élie l'entendit, il s'enveloppa le visage de son manteau, il sortit et se tint à l'entrée de la caverne. Et voici, une voix lui fit entendre ces paroles: Que fais-tu ici, Élie?
13 Nuair a chuala Éilias é sin, chlúdaigh sé a aghaidh lena chlóca; chuaigh sé amach agus sheas sé i mbéal na huaimhe. Tháinig guth chuige á rá: “Cad tá tú a dhéanamh anseo, a Éilias?”
13 Y cuando lo oyó Elías, cubrió su rostro con su manto, y salió, y paróse á la puerta de la cueva. Y he aquí llegó una voz á él, diciendo: ¿Qué haces aquí, Elías?
13 Da das Elia hörte, verhüllte er sein Antlitz mit seinem Mantel und ging heraus und trat in die Tür der Höhle. Und siehe, da kam eine Stimme zu ihm und sprach: Was hast du hier zu tun, Elia?
14 And he said, I have been burning for the honour of the Lord, the God of armies; for the children of Israel have not kept your agreement; they have had your altars broken down, and have put your prophets to death with the sword: till I, even I, am the only one living; and now they are attempting to take away my life.
14 Il répondit: J'ai déployé mon zèle pour l'Éternel, le Dieu des armées; car les enfants d'Israël ont abandonné ton alliance, ils ont renversé tes autels, et ils ont tué par l'épée tes prophètes; je suis resté, moi seul, et ils cherchent à m'ôter la vie.
14 D'fhreagair sé: “Tá mé lán de dhúthracht gan staonadh ar son Tiarna na Slua, mar gur thréig clann Iosrael [thú], gur leagadar d'altóirí, agus gur chuireadar d'fháithe chun báis. Níl fágtha ach mise agus tá siad ar thóir m'anama, ar tí mo mharaithe.”
14 Y él respondió: Sentido he un vivo celo por Jehová Dios de los ejércitos; porque los hijos de Israel han dejado tu alianza, han derribado tus altares, y han muerto á cuchillo tus profetas: y yo solo he quedado, y me buscan para quitarme la vida.
14 Er sprach: Ich habe um den HERRN, den Gott Zebaoth, geeifert; denn die Kinder Israel haben deinen Bund verlassen, deine Altäre zerbrochen, deine Propheten mit dem Schwert erwürgt, und ich bin allein übriggeblieben, und sie stehen darnach, daß sie mir das Leben nehmen.
15 And the Lord said to him, Go back on your way through the waste land to Damascus; and when you come there, put the holy oil on Hazael to make him king over Aram;
15 L'Éternel lui dit: Va, reprends ton chemin par le désert jusqu'à Damas; et quand tu seras arrivé, tu oindras Hazaël pour roi de Syrie.
15 Dúirt an Tiarna leis: “Imigh leat agus gabh ar ais an bóthar céanna go fásach na Damaisce. Tar éis teacht duit déan Hazáéil a ungadh ina rí ar Arám;
15 Y díjole Jehová: Ve, vuélvete por tu camino, por el desierto de Damasco: y llegarás, y ungirás á Hazael por rey de Siria;
15 Aber der HERR sprach zu ihm: Gehe wiederum deines Weges durch die Wüste gen Damaskus und gehe hinein und salbe Hasael zum König über Syrien,
16 And on Jehu, son of Nimshi, making him king over Israel; and on Elisha, the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah, to be prophet in your place.
16 Tu oindras aussi Jéhu, fils de Nimschi, pour roi d'Israël; et tu oindras Élisée, fils de Schaphath, d'Abel Mehola, pour prophète à ta place.
16 agus Iéahú mac Nimsí a ungadh ina rí ar Iosrael, agus Eilíseá mac Sheáfát ó Ábael Machólá a ungadh ina fháidh le teacht i do dhiaidh.
16 Y á Jehú hijo de Nimsi, ungirás por rey sobre Israel; y á Eliseo hijo de Saphat, de Abel-mehula, ungirás para que sea profeta en lugar de ti.
16 Und Jehu, den Sohn Nimsis, zum König über Israel, und Elisa, den Sohn Saphats, von Abel-Mehola, zum Propheten an deiner Statt.
17 And it will come about that the man who gets away safe from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will put to death; and whoever gets away safe from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will put to death.
17 Et il arrivera que celui qui échappera à l'épée de Hazaël, Jéhu le fera mourir; et celui qui échappera à l'épée de Jéhu, Élisée le fera mourir.
17 Cibé a thiocfaidh slán ó chlaíomh Hazáéil, cuirfidh Iéahú chun báis iad; agus cibé a thiocfaidh slán ó chlaíomh Iéahú cuirfidh Eilíseá chun báis iad.
17 Y será, que el que escapare del cuchillo, de Hazael, Jehú lo matará; y el que escapare del cuchillo de Jehú, Eliseo lo matará.
17 Und es soll geschehen, daß wer dem Schwert Hasaels entrinnt, den soll Jehu töten.
18 But I will keep safe seven thousand in Israel, all those whose knees have not been bent to Baal, and whose mouths have given him no kisses.
18 Mais je laisserai en Israël sept mille hommes, tous ceux qui n'ont point fléchi les genoux devant Baal, et dont la bouche ne l'a point baisé.
18 Ach déanfaidh mé anacal anama ar sheacht míle in Iosrael, gach glúin nár feacadh do Bhál, gach béal nár phog é.” Glao Eilíseá
18 Y yo haré que queden en Israel siete mil; todas rodillas que no se encorvaron á Baal, y bocas todas que no lo besaron.
18 Und ich will übriglassen siebentausend in Israel: alle Kniee, die sich nicht gebeugt haben vor Baal, und allen Mund, der ihn nicht geküßt hat.
19 So he went away from there and came across Elisha, the son of Shaphat, ploughing with twelve yoke of oxen, he himself walking with the twelfth; and Elijah went up to him and put his robe on him.
19 Élie partit de là, et il trouva Élisée, fils de Schaphath, qui labourait. Il y avait devant lui douze paires de boeufs, et il était avec la douzième. Élie s'approcha de lui, et il jeta sur lui son manteau.
19 D'imigh sé ón áit sin agus tháinig ar Eilíseá mac Sheáfát agus é ag treabhadh; bhí dhá dhamh déag sa chuingir aige agus é féin leis an dara ceann déag. Chuaigh Éilias thart i ndeas dó agus chaith a chlóca anuas air.
19 Y partiéndose él de allí, halló á Eliseo hijo de Saphat, que araba con doce yuntas delante de sí; y él era uno de los doce gañanes. Y pasando Elías por delante de él, echó sobre él su manto.
19 Und er ging von dannen und fand Elisa, den Sohn Saphats, daß er pflügte mit zwölf Jochen vor sich hin; und er war selbst bei dem zwölften. Und Elia ging zu ihm und warf seinen Mantel auf ihn.
20 And letting the oxen be where they were, he came running after Elijah, and said, Only let me give a kiss to my father and mother, and then I will come after you. But he said to him, Go back again; for what have I done to you?
20 Élisée, quittant ses boeufs, courut après Élie, et dit: Laisse-moi embrasser mon père et ma mère, et je te suivrai. Élie lui répondit: Va, et reviens; car pense à ce que je t'ai fait.
20 D'fhág sé an chuingir agus rith sé ar thóir Éilias. “Lig dom m'athair agus mo mháthair a phógadh,” ar sé; “agus ansin leanfaidh mé thú.” D'fhreagair Éilias: “Gabh ar ais; óir an ndearna mé rud ar bith duit?”
20 Entonces dejando él los bueyes, vino corriendo en pos de Elías, y dijo: Ruégote que me dejes besar mi padre y mi madre, y luego te seguiré. Y él le dijo: Ve, vuelve: ¿qué te he hecho yo?
20 Er aber ließ die Rinder und lief Elia nach und sprach: Laß mich meinen Vater und meine Mutter küssen, so will ich dir nachfolgen. Er sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin und komme wieder; bedenke, was ich dir getan habe!
21 And he went back, and took the oxen and put them to death, and cooking their flesh with the yokes of the oxen, he gave the people a feast. Then he got up and went after Elijah and became his servant.
21 Après s'être éloigné d'Élie, il revint prendre une paire de boeufs, qu'il offrit en sacrifice; avec l'attelage des boeufs, il fit cuire leur chair, et la donna à manger au peuple. Puis il se leva, suivit Élie, et fut à son service.
