1 Now these are the last words of David. David, the son of Jesse, says, the man who was lifted up on high, the man on whom the God of Jacob put the holy oil, the loved one of Israel's songs, says:

2 The spirit of the Lord had voice through me, his word was on my tongue.

3 The God of Israel said, the word of the Rock of Israel came to me: When an upright king is ruling over men, when he is ruling in the fear of God,

4 It is as the light of the morning, when the sun comes up, a morning without clouds; making young grass come to life from the earth.

5 For is not my house so with God? For he has made with me an eternal agreement, ordered in all things and certain: as for all my salvation and all my desire, will he not give it increase?
5 N'en est-il pas ainsi de ma maison devant Dieu, Puisqu'il a fait avec moi une alliance éternelle, En tous points bien réglée et offrant pleine sécurité? Ne fera-t-il pas germer tout mon salut et tous mes désirs?

6 But the evil-doers, all of them, will be like thorns to be pushed away, because they may not be gripped in the hand:

7 But anyone touching them has to be armed with iron and the rod of a spear; and they will be burned with fire, every one of them.

8 Voici les noms des vaillants hommes qui étaient au service de David. Joscheb Basschébeth, le Tachkemonite, l'un des principaux officiers. Il brandit sa lance sur huit cents hommes, qu'il fit périr en une seule fois.

8 Dies sind die Namen der Helden Davids: Jasobeam, der Sohn Hachmonis, ein Vornehmster unter den Rittern; er hob seinen Spieß auf und schlug achthundert auf einmal.
9 After him was Eleazar, the son of Dodai the Ahohite, one of the three great fighters, who was with David in Pas-dammim when the Philistines came together there for the fight; and when the men of Israel had gone in flight,
9 Après lui, Éléazar, fils de Dodo, fils d'Achochi. Il était l'un des trois guerriers qui affrontèrent avec David les Philistins rassemblés pour combattre, tandis que les hommes d'Israël se retiraient sur les hauteurs.

9 Después de éste, Eleazar, hijo de Dodo de Ahohi, fué de los tres valientes que estaban con David, cuando desafiaron á los Filisteos que se habían juntado allí á la batalla, y subieron los de Israel.
9 Nach ihm war Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos, des Sohnes Ahohis, unter den drei Helden mit David. Da sie Hohn sprachen den Philistern und daselbst versammelt waren zum Streit und die Männer Israels hinaufzogen,
10 He was with David and went on fighting the Philistines till his hand became tired and stiff from gripping his sword: and that day the Lord gave a great salvation, and the people came back after him only to take the goods of the Philistines.
10 Il se leva, et frappa les Philistins jusqu'à ce que sa main fût lasse et qu'elle restât attachée à son épée. L'Éternel opéra une grande délivrance ce jour-là. Le peuple revint après Éléazar, seulement pour prendre les dépouilles.
10 Sheas seisean an fód agus bhí sé ag treascairt na bhFilistíneach go dtí gur éirigh a lámh chomh curtha sin gur cheangail sé í den chlaíomh. Thug an Tiarna bua mór chun críche an lá sin; d'fhill an t‑arm i ndiaidh Eileázár, ach ba chun creiche amháin a rinneadar sin.
10 Este, levantándose, hirió á los Filisteos, hasta que su mano se cansó, y quedósele contraída á la espada. Aquel día Jehová hizo gran salud: y volvióse el pueblo en pos de él solamente á tomar el despojo.
10 da stand er und schlug die Philister, bis seine Hand müde am Schwert erstarrte. Und der HERR gab ein großes Heil zu der Zeit, daß das Volk umwandte ihm nach, zu rauben.
11 After him was Shammah, the son of Ela the Hararite. And the Philistines came together in Lehi, where there was a bit of land full of seed; and the people went in flight from the Philistines.
11 Après lui, Schamma, fils d'Agué, d'Harar. Les Philistins s'étaient rassemblés à Léchi. Il y avait là une pièce de terre remplie de lentilles; et le peuple fuyait devant les Philistins.
11 Ina dhiaidh sin bhí Seamá mac Áigé an Harárach. Thionóil na Filistínigh ag Leichí mar a raibh gort lán de lintilí. Theith an t‑arm roimh na Filistínigh.
11 Después de éste fué Samma, hijo de Age Araita: que habiéndose juntado los Filisteos en una aldea, había allí una suerte de tierra llena de lentejas, y el pueblo había huído delante de los Filisteos:
11 Nach ihm war Samma, der Sohn Ages, des Harariters. Da die Philister sich versammelten in eine Rotte, und war daselbst ein Stück Acker voll Linsen, und das Volk floh vor den Philistern,
12 But he kept his place in the middle of the bit of land, and kept back their attack and overcame the Philistines: and the Lord gave a great salvation.
12 Schamma se plaça au milieu du champ, le protégea, et battit les Philistins. Et l'Éternel opéra une grande délivrance.
12 Ach sheas seisean an fód i lár an ghoirt, chosain é, agus mharaigh na Filistínigh. Chuir an Tiarna bua mór i gcrích ar an gcuma sin.
12 El entonces se paró en medio de la suerte de tierra, y defendióla, é hirió á los Filisteos; y Jehová hizo una gran salud.
12 da trat er mitten auf das Stück und errettete es und schlug die Philister; und Gott gab ein großes Heil.
13 And three of the thirty went down at the start of the grain-cutting, and they came to David at the strong place of Adullam; and the band of Philistines had taken up their position in the valley of Rephaim.
13 Trois des trente chefs descendirent au temps de la moisson et vinrent auprès de David, dans la caverne d'Adullam, lorsqu'une troupe de Philistins était campée dans la vallée des Rephaïm.
13 Ghabh triúr den tríocha taoiseach síos agus thángadar timpeall aimsir an fhómhair go Dáiví san uaimh in Adulám nuair a bhí longfort ag buíon Filistíneach i nGleann Rafáím.
13 Y tres de los treinta principales descendieron y vinieron en tiempo de la siega á David á la cueva de Adullam: y el campo de los Filisteos estaba en el valle de Raphaim.
13 Und diese drei Vornehmsten unter dreißigen kamen hinab in der Ernte zu David in die Höhle Adullam, und die Rotte der Philister lag im Grunde Rephaim.
14 And at that time David had taken cover in the strong place, and an armed force of the Philistines was in Beth-lehem.
14 David était alors dans la forteresse, et il y avait un poste de Philistins à Bethléhem.

15 And David, moved by a strong desire, said, If only someone would give me a drink of water from the water-hole of Beth-lehem, by the doorway into the town!
15 David eut un désir, et il dit: Qui me fera boire de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléhem?
15 Agus dúirt Dáiví le tnúth: “Uch, nár bhreá liom dá dtabharfadh duine éigin deoch uisce dom as tobar Bheithile atá le taobh an gheata!”
15 Y David tuvo deseo, y dijo: ¡Quién me diera á beber del agua de la cisterna de Beth-lehem, que está á la puerta!
15 Und David ward lüstern und sprach: Wer will mir Wasser zu trinken holen aus dem Brunnen zu Bethlehem unter dem Tor?
16 And the three men, forcing their way through the Philistine army, got water from the water-hole of Beth-lehem, by the doorway into the town, and took it back to David: but he would not take it, but, draining it out, made an offering of it to the Lord.
16 Alors les trois vaillants hommes passèrent au travers du camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléhem. Ils l'apportèrent et la présentèrent à David; mais il ne voulut pas la boire, et il la répandit devant l'Éternel.
16 Ansin bhrúigh an triúr gaiscíoch trí longfort na bhFilistíneach agus tharraing siad uisce as an tobar ag geata Bheithile agus thug siad leo é agus thug siad do Dháiví é. Ach ní ólfadh sé é ach é a dhoirteadh mar ofráil don Tiarna.
16 Entonces los tres valientes rompieron por el campo de los Filisteos, y sacaron agua de la cisterna de Beth-lehem, que estaba á la puerta; y tomaron, y trajéronla á David: mas él no la quiso beber, sino derramóla á Jehová, diciendo:
16 Da brachen die drei Helden ins Lager der Philister und schöpften Wasser aus dem Brunnen zu Bethlehem unter dem Tor und trugen's und brachten's zu David. Aber er wollte nicht trinken sondern goß es aus dem HERRN
17 And he said, Far be it from me, O Lord, to do this; how may I take as my drink the life-blood of men who have put their lives in danger? So he would not take it. These things did the three great men of war.
17 Il dit: Loin de moi, ô Éternel, la pensée de faire cela! Boirais-je le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés au péril de leur vie? Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Voilà ce que firent ces trois vaillants hommes.
17 “Gura fada uaim, a Thiarna,” ar sé, “é seo a ól! An ólfainn fuil na ndaoine a chuir a n‑anam i mbaol ar eachtra?” Ní ólfadh sé é dá bhrí sin. Sin iad bearta an triúr gaiscíoch.
17 Lejos sea de mí, oh Jehová, que yo haga esto. ¿He de beber yo la sangre de los varones que fueron con peligro de su vida? Y no quiso beberla. Los tres valientes hicieron esto.
17 und sprach: Das lasse der HERR fern von mir sein, daß ich das tue! Ist's nicht das Blut der Männer, die ihr Leben gewagt haben und dahin gegangen sind? Und wollte es nicht trinken. Das taten die drei Helden.
18 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the thirty. He put to death three hundred with his spear, and he got for himself a name among the thirty.
18 Abischaï, frère de Joab, fils de Tseruja, était le chef des trois. Il brandit sa lance sur trois cents hommes, et les tua; et il eut du renom parmi les trois.
18 Ba é Aibísí deartháir Ióáb agus mac Zarúá ceannaire an tríochad. Eisean a d'imir a shleá ar an trí chéad fear agus a mharaigh iad, agus a thuill cáil i measc an tríochad.
18 Y Abisai hermano de Joab, hijo de Sarvia, fué el principal de los tres; el cual alzó su lanza contra trescientos, que mató; y tuvo nombre entre los tres.
18 Abisai, Joabs Bruder, der Zeruja Sohn, war auch ein Vornehmster unter den Rittern: er hob seinen Spieß auf und schlug dreihundert, und war auch berühmt unter dreien
19 Was he not the noblest of the thirty? so he was made their captain: but he was not equal to the first three.
19 Il était le plus considéré des trois, et il fut leur chef; mais il n'égala pas les trois premiers.

20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a fighting man of Kabzeel, had done great acts; he put to death the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down into a hole and put a lion to death in time of snow:
20 Benaja, fils de Jehojada, fils d'un homme de Kabtseel, rempli de valeur et célèbre par ses exploits. Il frappa les deux lions de Moab. Il descendit au milieu d'une citerne, où il frappa un lion, un jour de neige.
20 Banáiá mac Iahóideá, laoch ó Chabzael, fear déanta mórghníomh, threascair sé dhá churadh Mhóáb. Agus lá sneachta chuaigh sé síos isteach in uaimh agus mharaigh leon ann.
20 Despues, Benaía hijo de Joiada, hijo de un varón esforzado, grande en hechos, de Cabseel. Este hirió dos leones de Moab: y él mismo descendió, é hirió un león en medio de un foso en el tiempo de la nieve:
20 Und Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, des Sohnes Is-Hails, von großen Taten, von Kabzeel, der schlug zwei Helden der Moabiter und ging hinab und schlug einen Löwen im Brunnen zur Schneezeit.
21 And he made an attack on an Egyptian, a tall man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a stick, and pulling the spear out of the hands of the Egyptian, put him to death with that same spear.
21 Il frappa un Égyptien d'un aspect formidable et ayant une lance à la main; il descendit contre lui avec un bâton, arracha la lance de la main de l'Égyptien, et s'en servit pour le tuer.
21 Agus mharaigh sé Éigipteach, fear dealraitheach; bhí sleá ina láimh ag an Éigipteach, ach ghabh Banáiá síos chuige agus bata ina láimh, sciob an tsleá as láimh an Éigiptigh agus mharaigh é lena shleá féin.
21 También hirió él á un Egipcio, hombre de grande estatura: y tenía el Egipcio una lanza en su mano; mas descendió á él con un palo, y arrebató al Egipcio la lanza de la mano, y matólo con su propia lanza.
21 Und schlug auch einen ägyptischen ansehnlichen Mann, der hatte einen Spieß in seiner Hand. Er aber ging zu ihm hinab mit einem Stecken und riß dem Ägypter den Spieß aus der Hand und erwürgte ihn mit seinem eigenen Spieß.
22 These were the acts of Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, who had a great name among the thirty men of war.
22 Voilà ce que fit Benaja, fils de Jehojada; et il eut du renom parmi les trois vaillants hommes.
22 Ba shin iad bearta Bhanáiá mac Iahóideá a thuill cáil dó féin i measc an tríochad.

23 He was honoured over the rest of the thirty, but he was not equal to the first three. And David put him over the fighting men who kept him safe.
23 Il était le plus considéré des trente; mais il n'égala pas les trois premiers. David l'admit dans son conseil secret.
